Great hotel! Staff was very helpful. They recommended restaurants and gave us directions. They helped arrange excursions and taxis to train station for us or for just our luggage. It’s about a 15 minute walk to main water taxis or private taxis are right outside our door. Our room overlooked the canal and was very pretty. I loved the shutters. Room size was great. Breakfast was good and loved eating on the terrace. Can’t wait to go back!

I gave this hotel 2 stars for the staff only. We stayed in this hotel the night before and after a cruise. Both rooms were old fashioned, dingy, musty and not at all inviting. The bed sheets smelt disgusting like they had been stored in a mouldy cupboard for months. The first room was so small we barely had room for our suitcases and ended up climbing over the bed to get to the other side. The second night we stayed the room didn't even have curtains, good job it was on the second floor for privacy but there was no chance that they blocked out light, so the room was bright @ 6am. I hated the taught of having to go back for the second night and even checked flights home to avoid it but unfortunately they weren't available. The location is good close to main square but I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Overall a very disappointing stay here. Will definitely not be returning.

Hotel housed in a historic palace, very nice. Its location is excellent, accessible from the train station and next to the Grand Dorsoduro Canal. The rooms are quite manicured (superior) and breakfast is good. Value for money is not the best, but it is the standards of Venice.

It's our first time visiting Venice. The staff was amazing! So helpful and friendly! The location was great and there were restaurants and shops nearby! The room was small but that's typical for this area It was very clean and the canal view was beautiful! The breakfast was delicious and again the staff was great!

Wonderful hotel close to the bus/train station in a quieter area of Venice on a small canal. Easy walking distance to main attractions. The bed and room very comfortable. The staff was so helpful, providing us with a map, arranging our water taxi to the airport. Lovely continental breakfast. Wifi could be a little spotty. Definitely recommend this hotel for a visit to magical Venice.

This is the higher end for a 3 star hotel. Rooms is fine. Not massive but we didn't spend much time there anyway. Breakfast is good and the courtyard is lovely. The room was quiet at the back of the hotel and the shower was great. Wi-Fi died but I didn't miss it. Location is great. Just 5 mins from main train and bus terminus. I would stay again.

Rooms are clean however small, unfortunately a little in the years come (rust in the shower). Staff is very friendly, foyer very nice and welcoming. Very good location. The best thing about breakfast is the coffee and the croissants, selection otherwise quite small (cold boiled eggs). Good for a stays to visit the city for 2 days (our time spent there). Just 3 * for 3 * Hotel but also no more.

Considering it's a 500 years old building I can't complain. It's ok although I can't compare to ant other in the city. Well located. Service correct. Breakfast ok.

Great hotel in a perfect location to get to and come from the airport. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring Venice. Will be going there again next year.

A very nice hotel near Piazzale Roma, located on a Canale. Very old building fabric, cozy, not quite new rooms. Fits well into this wonderful city. Is quietly located and (fortunately) quite far away from the overpriced centre around St. Mark's Square. All the sights are within easy walking distance. The breakfast is not exactly top but, in Italy The breakfast is very often not very intoxicating… there are some good and not very expensive restaurants in the immediate vicinity.
My absolute favorite in Venice.

The hotel has a problem with the bad smell. At the front desk it smells really bad. The Internet almost doesn't work. We got a canal view room, and it was very nice to see it in the mornings. The room was very clean and the staff were very helpful. If repaired the issue of smell and Internet connection, they would gain a lot in quality.

Very disappointing. The bathroom should have been condemned. Not good enough.

Had a lovely stay at Hotel Al Sole for our weekend away and got engaged. We had room 105 over looking the street and canal. The view from our bed was amazing. Big rooms, shower, bath, toilet. Bedding, towels changed every day. And mini fridge useful.
The hotel staff on arrival where very informative and answered all our questions.
We stayed B&B and breakfast was a good selection of cheese, ham, toast, croissants, tea, coffee, juice.
We will be back to this hotel and amazing city again.
We fell in love there and I got a ring on my finger to keep these memories forever.

Exaggeratedly expensive for an old structure (and not old! ) with bathrooms not up to the price (200 euros per night for a double) and, for this reason, boycotted by Italians and favored by foreigners. Two stars for breakfast quite varied. Disappointing for the rest.

Very old-school hotel with an inconvenient location. We had a third-floor room on the front which was very noisy very early in the morning. It seems the garbage scows dock right outside the front door of the hotel starting at 5:30 and the garbage men bring all their wheelie-bins from the entire neighbourhood to this location for transfer to the scows. This entails much banging, shouting, and hydraulics. Perhaps the rooms at the back with no view at all are quieter. The breakfasts are decidedly second-rate: the only eggs on offer are hard-boiled and the orange juice is a joke. There are no other social amenities such as a coffee shop or bar. There are tables set up in an enclosed courtyard which are pleasant enough if one can ignore the unsubtle odour of sewers, but there is no food or drink service so one is not tempted to linger.

Had a wonderful stay at Al Sole. Lovely rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful hotel restaurant. Great location. I would highly recommend this hotel. Loved every minute of our stay.

Accommodation in advance in order to visit the hotel. This is a charming hotel from the Roman Forum (Piazza Roma) are easy to reach. For visiting Venice it has an excellent location, room was clean, bed comfortable, breakfast had good choices. Reception staff very helpful and very friendly. Will stay there again.

A site to recommend for a short Venetian also. A classic atmosphere, with an original story around the banner logo.

We were very satisfied with the Hotel: with the advice at the reception, with our room and with the Breakfast. Also, it was a gondola ride through Santa Croce, the Hotel arranged for us, which we liked very much. — The announced bed bugs were harmless mosquitoes out. We recommend this Hotel, especially since it is in a quieter 'Sestiere' of Venice is situated.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I stayed there in May 2015 Rude staff. We found out charges belongs to some one else on our card. This hotel is rip off. Good luck to communicate with staff which are mostly non English speaking. Don't ruing your vacation. Bad business. Even one star is too much. Two of us got bitten by bed bugs! Update: Be aware! This is the most true review on the internet that you can find about this hotel. Expedia and Tripadvisior DELETED my reviews. Expedia even changed my review and published like I wrote. There are too many fake reviews around. As many of you I was not aware that they don't publish reviews unless it is good or above certain rate until decided to wrote a review first time.

Bed bugs! be aware. We had an horrible night dealing with bed bugs. We booked multiple rooms and had the same problem in all of them. The hotel is not clean at all. Stinks.

Outstanding hotel! I will definitely return, all very kind and the room excellent.

We stayed for three nights and found the hotel to be everything we expected. The hotel staff was always very friendly, suggested two very good and reasonable priced restaurants (with 10% off even! Saved 7 Euros). The room at least the second floor room was clean, well kept and although a tad small, was what we needed. Only complaint, and it really is for all the hotels I've ever stayed at in Europe, is that the shower seems to be built for a midget, if you're 6'+ it makes you not linger! The bed was very firm, but I find most of them are that way so it was to be expected. It is a bit of a hike to Piazzo San Marco, but that is 1/2 the fun of Venice is getting lost in the side streets and if you really don't want to walk grab the express Vaperrato to San Marco. It's only a few minute walk from the Piazzala Roma (bus station) and maybe 10 minutes from the railway station. Best part: two things I enjoyed best, one is the free Wi-Fi, very nice. And the second is the breakfast, this alone increased from a 4 star to a 5 star Google review! Yogurt, cereal, caffe (even a very good caffe americano) meat and cheese and croissants. The best included breakfast I've had in Europe. Overall thank you Hotel Al Sole for a great home base in Venice.

Don't stay here. IT SMELLS and floods during acqua alta. The staff is rude and often their is no one at the front desk — how am I suppose to get my room key then?!? Room service showed up 1 time out of the four days I was staying there. You can hear people in the room next to you clearly and there's often echo's. Wi-Fi didn't work at all even though I had to pay for it. Breakfast was fine, but poor when compared to other hotels in the same price range.

In September for 2 weeks (with dog) to the CP. The location is a dream. We had a seat right on the Lake. What us very sorry for this CP, that the friendly operators maintain the CP in any way. No lawn is mowed, none away leaves, no gravel on the parking spaces filled, etc. A pity! What but even worse is that the sanitary facilities are barely cleaned. In the two weeks, I've seen no employee should have cleaned. The protection (spider webs everywhere, dirty floor, dirty toilets, dirty mirrors, dirty showers) was every day always there during these two weeks! Too bad, this should not be, because then the CP operator should do more for the pitch a few € and thus pay the MA for the hygiene. For dog owners, I find the CP not so suitable. Like we'd be still here on the CP for a while stayed, but unfortunately it's not with the cleanliness / hygiene! What a pity.

Nice hotel, the rooms are large enough and equipped with air conditioning. The morning service is more than adequate, and it is possible to have lunch in a small patio.
The hotel is typical of Venice, clean and the staff is courteous.

Very Nice! We loved the staff especially Luca. He made sure we had breakfast to go the morning we departed to return home. (We had to catch a 5AM bus). Great walking distance from train/bus station. Clean and breakfast was delic! (and the A/C actually works! ).

We stayed for 4 nights here and everything was just perfect the location, the grandoise, the large comfortable rooms.
