Backpackers House Venice Hostel

Everything seemed to be as advertised and it was definitely one of the better options in Venice. Only issue I had was that they did not have a place to store anything.

Very Nice environment, the people who work here are definitely friendly. It's located on a piazza where you can find lots of good restaurants and cafes. I really recommend, and on the top of it the price is really good. The only downside is that they don't have a kitchen, although there's one microwave oven to heat food.

BED BUGS! Guy that worked there didn't seem like it was his first time hearing that. Would never ever recommend to anyone due to bed bugs. Bites all over on numerous people. Seemed like they never cleaned anything. Worst hostel I have ever been to.

But difficult to access the hotel, being in a tiny alley and on the first floor of a building. In addition there are only two bathrooms and not only toilets, so if you have a big craving you have to wait.

Not a horrible experience, they increase the price the longer you choose to stay with them. They say it is based off of demand and how many beds that have available. Also there's 15+ people sharing one bathroom so good luck trying to get anything done.

Booked for four nights and after the second night I woke up with over 30 bed bug bites around my body. As soon as I pulled the sheets back I found an adult bed bug on the mattress. I took a picture and went to talk to the guy about canceling my remaining two nights. He was angry with me but eventually gave me half my cost in cash from his pocket and ensured me I would not be charged the remained nights. As soon as I left I was charged the full amount! He refuses to do anything about it. I have spent over 60 EURO on laundry cost, and ointment to sooth my itching. I would NOT stay here if someone paid me! Not worth the pain and trouble.

Probably the cheapest place in venice. Beds are alright, but DO NOT COME HERE IN WINTER. The heating doesn't work and it is freezing. I left a day early because I couldn't stand the cold anymore.

Very poor hygiene, infested with bedbugs, bedbugs everywhere not worth staying there and getting these parasites back home, reception rarely available, and if available very rude and hostile, a creepy Bengali guy, won't recommend this place to anyone.

Disgraceful hostel. Infested with bed bugs, extremely poor customer service. Woke up in the middle of the night with bites. The other occupants in the shared dorm woke up with bites and blood stains on their bed from the squished bed bugs. Although I took pictures with one here and there. They were disbursed everywhere. Informed the manager, who absolutely did not care about the situation. They said bedbugs is normal in venice and would not give a refund. The dormitory occupants and myself had to get the police involved. What an insult to a beautiful city. If you're reading this please please save your money and time go else where. Although they have a picture of the Pope on the wall, please remember if you stay here, not even the Pope can save you. Worst hostel ever!

DO NOT STAY HERE! Avoid at all costs. Its winter and there's no heating at all. When we complained the man was extremely rude and tried to kicked us out at 10 p. M. The bathroom is disgusting and moody. I've done a lot of backpacking and this is the worst. Save your money and stay in mestre or anywhere else.

I was happy to leave. I haven't until now stayed at a hostel that I just wanted to get out of. I wish I had taken pictures to post. The shower head is broken, and the one bathroom is shared by at least eight people (with all rooms occupied). I know how much a shower head costs and I would be willing to replace it if that wasn't the only problem. I paid 55 euros… The toilet on the second floor leaked out the back and soaked the floor. I fixed that temporarily. The shower has a towel around the outside because water gets out and on to the floor. The water that did get out of the shower/leaked from the toilet was still there 24 hours later and leaking through the ceiling to the 1st floor. The Wi-Fi doesn't reach my room. This matters to me because like most people coming to this place, I do not have Italian cell phone service. When I went to talk to someone about this inside the hostel nobody was around the three times I went to the office. These problems are not impossible to fix, it just takes a little work and some pride from the staff in the place they are employed. P. S. The bathroom smelled like a litter box. Everything else was on par though.

After five years of traveling I finally found it… A 5 euro a night hostel for 40 euros a night! The noise from drunk people partying disturbed my sleep There was no lockers for security There was not sufficient power outlets for everyone in the dorm The Wi-Fi was pretty slow No kitchen, dinning room or space to chill and relax It's in an unrenovated old building with a bunch of trash in it. The owner/manager was quiet rude to everyone except a Russian girl staying our room who, apparently he was hitting on in a creepy way. All things that would be forgivable in five, ten or fifteen euro a night hostel but for 40 euros — not cool! Staying here really detracted from my time in this otherwise magical city.

Unfortunately, I can't give 0 stars. Got a bad allergy there, mold on the mattresses. Stay away!

Females do not stay here. Don't trust hostelworld. This is not a proper hostel (wouldn't be surprised if it was illegal), but a flat of a creepy Indian-looking guy who lives there, and SEXUALLY HARASSES lone female travelers. The "reception" is the creep's, I mean innkeeper's, bedroom. Not kidding. In mid-June 2016, a shy, Korean girl was felt up by this guy, during check-in and he even offered her money for sex. Only when she screamed did he get away from her, as other people heard it. She was too scared to file a police report. There are better places to stay, that are about as cheap. Females beware.

The guy was sound, he even helprd out one of my mates who had been druged. Although not the best I've been too.

We stayed in room with bathroom (not shared). Great location and cleanliness.

Remember you get what you paid for. The location is great but the hostel itself is not the best I've seen. The hostel is basically a flat turned into a hostel. It doesn't even have a hostel atmosphere. No common room and only one big bathroom for everyone. And what was really frustrating is to find the hostel as there was not a single sign saying something in here. Just a tiny handwritten paper saying reception. the hostel keeper is a very nice and funny guy but didn't give any valuable tipps for anything.

Decent dorm rooms but the Wi-Fi was atrocious. It's pretty close to the bus station if you're traveling around the region. It's near an active square, so it's up to you if you're a light sleeper.

I don't recommend this place. The location is good but there are other options around with better price Also, the Wi-Fi doesn't work from all rooms and the staff was rude and inefficient when I complained about it. I would be “ok” if they accept there is an issue and take an action to fix it in a long term, but it really bothers me when the attendants say things like “we said there is Wi-Fi, but we didn’t say it’s available from all rooms and it’s available 24/7”…
