Review of Villaggio San Francesco 5*

The most horrible campsite ever. I am shocked that it has 5 stars.! We booked one of their King size pitches well in advance and wrote to them that our caravan is +11 meters long. They assured that it would be no problem at all. The trip through the whole campsite with a big wagon, phew! Luckily we were two adults in the car, one was driving and one removed rubbish bins etc. That are on corners so we could get the caravan safely through the site. When we arrived it was impossible to enter the square. They had to remove a sign and we had to cross the neighboring lot to enter. Our caravan fills the entire pitch from end to end. We had to put down the bushes at both ends to get the caravan in. Had we not had a mover on, it would have been impossible to get it in due to lack of space. In total check-in took 2 hours.! We booked and paid for beach service (chairs and umbrella) as we read that we could not bring our own in the area close to our caravan. Every day it has been crammed with people with their own equipment — it was almost 400 EUR wasted… We contacted the reception by email, no return reply here 14 days later. Pools — what a joke. They look so delicious in the pictures. They are way too small for the amount of people. Think there are more people than water in the pool.! Sunbeds are minimal, get to the pool early and bring your running shoes or you won't get one. There are no umbrellas! Loud music is played, morning and afternoon. Their Aqua park is nice, but we paid €9 for an afternoon (3 hours) for two sunbeds and a parasol. The restaurant is a disaster… Waited 1 hour for food. The tuna starter was bad — as the fish was definitely too old… Tukan Beach bar — nice service, food comes quickly and friendly staff. We have eaten there a few times and picked up pizzas as take away. The toilet seat is broken in the private bathroom, this is cleaned every day by the staff — but it is not fixed. We have written an email (we would not be to blame for braking it) — surprice NO reply back from them. at 07:30 there is a lot of noise from the gardening team and their machines. I think that is just to early. Guests are encouraged not to use water unnecessarily and no watering is allowed due to drought. The gardening team watering everywhere, every day. It doesn't seem completely thought out! At 08:15, large garbage trucks race down through the square, making a lot of noise with the garbage containers. It makes a lot of noise when a glass container is emptied. At 09:30 div pool opens with full music. So it's really only quiet between 13-15. We will NEVER return.! And would not recommend this to anyone!
