I loved the location to restaurants and shopping. The history of the hotel is a lovely read. Will definitely visit again.

Close to the city centre. Negatives — no Wi-Fi in our room despite being a suite. Breakfast was a shambles on first morning. Packed out, ran out of food, staff unable to cope.

Our stay was enjoyable. The service, food, room and it’s location (approx 20 min walk to City Centro) made for an excellent stay in Bologna. The city has been a major urban centre for centuries, first under the Etruscans, then under the Romans (Bononia), then again in the Middle Ages, as a free municipality and signoria, when it was among the largest European cities by population. Famous for its towers, churches and lengthy porticoes, Bologna has a well-preserved historical centre, thanks to a careful restoration and conservation policy. Home to the oldest university in the world, the University of Bologna, established in AD 1088, the city has a large student population that gives it a cosmopolitan character. In 2000 it was declared European capital of culture and in 2006, a UNESCO "city of music". Bologna is an important agricultural, industrial, financial and transport hub, where many large mechanical, electronic and food companies have their headquarters as well as one of the largest permanent trade fairs in Europe. Bologna is the first Italian city and the 47th European city in terms of its economic growth rate. As a consequence, Bologna is also one of the wealthiest cities in Italy, often ranking as one of the top cities in terms of quality of life in the country: in 2011 it ranked 1st out of 107 Italian cities. If you’re in the area, Bologna is a must visit.

Nice hotel in central location and in a nice period building, too bad that the renovation has made it high-tech inside with a reception that is a huge open-space very dispersed and not at all cozy. The room on the contrary was very small without a closet but with some crutches hanging from a high-tech steel pipe as well. I didn't have breakfast at the hotel because it was extra. Kind staff, but I won't go back.

Did not stay at the hotel but ate at the restaurant. We booked this as part of our honeymoon and it was a fantastic meal. We both had the Chef's tasting menu and he even came out to meet us. Great experience. Great for a romantic dinner or special occasions.

Centrally located, this hotel is on a busy street. Valet is 20 euros per night. They offer a glass of wine during happy hour. The rooms are sober, a little small. The bathroom is ok but not great. It looks like they have a "mini-van" for toiletries to sell you q tips or gel… Fortunately they don't charge for the basic soap and shampoo. Their breakfast is probably the highlight of the hotel. Delicious coffees and pastries.

Dissatisfied air conditioning constantly running — not possible to switch it off or turned down neither from the room or the main control at front desk, called reception was told unfortunately cannot be switched off… Informed reception in the morning — replied "not much that we can do you have paid in advance"! 4 star deluxe — Not on customer service though!

The hotel is very nice, next to the Montagnola, a walk from Bologna's Central Station and practically downtown (via Independence). The rooms are taken care of in detail although almost all the options you will find are for a fee, so beware. What disappointed me a lot, however, is the air conditioning system. The temperature is not adjustable in the room (you have to ask the recepcion), but above all it is very noisy. To the point where I found it impossible to sleep. In addition, despite having asked (in summer) to set a room temperature of 24 degrees, the fan never stopped.

Beautiful building. Modern hotel. Lacking in service but the location makes up for it. Excellent Michelin-star restaurant, the only one in Bologna!

I stayed here just on a day rate during a stop over where I was in desperate need for a sleep after a 2:30am wake up. Everything was easy and comfortable. Very clean place, and in an excellent location. Good speed Wi-Fi. Its pretty pricey to stay here overnight.

Good situation close to the train station. Rooms are small and a bit cold however for sleeping its ok. The breakfast is also standard but good.

Very very clean and modern hotel. Minimal décor but cared for in the rooms. If you have forgotten any product from beauty there is everything available. Good choice for breakfast.

A refined and welcoming place in the heart of Bologna. High quality handmade products, from simple bread and jam to tortellini. The restaurant/bar area has been restored preserving the historical aspect of the cafe Chantant, the modern reception area and light colours is a clear detachment, but the real pearl is the ancient icehouse of 1330, where a unique and suggestionist environment has been created.

A beautiful hotel, beware though, some side street rooms are pretty poorly soundproofed.

Nice hotel. It has air conditioning but it's off during the winter season. 10 degrees outside and 26 inside is daft.

Parking isn't too expensivewith valet. Rooms are very pretty with really high ceiling but the basic ones are small and the beds are very small. Limited toiletery offering compared to other lower end places. Reeption is very helpful for activities within the city. The bar upstairs is very comfy and has a great terrace. It sometimes feels like some aspects of the hotel have high end finishes (location, bar, ceilings, reception, restorant) but other feel very average (bathroom, tv, freebies).

Elegant and refined hotel from the scenic lobby, equipped with restaurant, bar, conference room, private parking.
The building is located along the Via Dell'indipendenza, a few steps from the train station and at the same time close enough to the centre easily accessible on foot. Very friendly and helpful staff.

The hotel is in the center in a very convenient location is very nice and modern, and comfortable, the rooms are spacious, very well furnished, equipped with every comfort and clean. Large and functional bathroom.

Great hotel! We choose this hotel because it has chargers for electric cars (Tesla) and stayed there for one night on our way from Rome to the Netherlands. What a pleasant surprise! Lovely hotel with very nice staff. Great location as well.

This hotel does not deserve four stars. The room looks nice but it is not throughly cleaned or maintained. I found fruit seeds in the candle holder and some biscuit crumbs on the floor. You also hear a lot of noise from upstairs and from the park. The shampoo does not wash your hair. Terrible!

I wasn't sure what to expect after our experience with another "4 Star" hotel in Florence but what a pleasant surprise the I Portici turned out to be. From the moment we walked through the main door we were greeted by Simone, who is as amazing at his job and as sincerely pleasant as anyone we have ever met. The concierge is simple but elegant and the room was perfect. There was fruit and chocolate waiting for us as well as sumptuous bathrobes. The Terazza restaurant had excellent food with equally excellent service. On our last night a bottle of wine was sent up as a thank you for staying there. I Portici, we will be back everytime we are in Bologna and thank you again Simone.

The place is really elegant and the products are really good, the prices are adequate to the quality. I really loved the kindness of the staff members, I surely wanna come back here!

Great location, the hotel is a mix between design and restoration in a perfectly successful combination. Staff.

This was our second time staying at this hotel (the first was about four years ago) and I'm fairly sure there'll be a third. The location is very good — not bang in the centre but about a 10 minute walk through the porticos — and it's less than a ten minute walk from the station for high speed trains to Milan or Rome, or along the coast to Rimini or Venice. The rooms are very large and nicely decorated, the bed was extremely comfortable and the hotel is very clean with excellent staff. We'd definitely stay again next time we're in Bologna…

Perfect stay. We had broken down whilst travelling for 7 weeks and were put up in this hotel by our breakdown company. Can only say amazing things about the staff. From the reception to the food waiters and also the housekeeping staff. Very attentive. Checking we were ok several times and seeing if we needed anything. They also allowed our 2 dogs to
Stay. Room was huge and spacious. And centrally located to everything. Thank you to the whole hotel. You have been amazing.

We've been here 24 hours and there's only word to describe it — super! Hotel is 5 mins walk from the train station, and max 10 mins walk along lovely wide streets to the old historical centre.
The room and bathroom are spacious, super clean and perfect for anyone's needs. The bed is comfortable. And the wonderful terrace off the room is a mega bonus!
The Michelin start restaurant is a mega bonus and we had a magical meal there last night that won't be forgotten. The staff have been super attentive and professional so I Portici gets my 5 stars for quality:price!

Clean and modern room for two, not too spacious but not cramped either. Wi-Fi for free but connection cuts every now and then, so it's not Netflix speeds but enough for casual browsing or emails. Good decor, great location, friendly staff, gluten-free breakfast options from the buffet (and a harpist playing during breakfast on occasion, which was great! ) The price isn't cheap but not overtly steep regarding the service quality and the location. The best shower in a room I've ever had outside Scandinavia and especially in southern Europe. By foot (the only proper way to experience any location, by the way) it's 5 minutes to the train station, 10 minutes to the old shopping streets and 10 minutes to MAMBo. I'd go again.

Recently renovated hotel. The strong points are its location well balanced between the historic centre and the train station, the public spaces large and architecturally interesting, the breakfast room (gorgeous Art Deco building ' and if you are lucky the weekend enriched by live performances of a harpist), the attached restaurant monothematic on homemade pasta bolognese tradition and good value. Recommended.

I took a course in a small meeting room and I was satisfied. There was everything we needed, TV to the slides, water, notebook and a pen per participant. Luxurious, clean restrooms and classy.

The hotel is well positioned. Cleanliness, order and professionalism … Also for conferences.

Open parking next to the hotel. There was one empty seat, just in case the reception pull car keys to rearrange. The room is good. On the main street to downtown 5 minutes. Overall enjoyed it.
Installed video cameras in the parking lot, but not fully-fenced parking, walk down the stairs to it out of the Park, where on the stairs sits a young beer. Parking gates were wide open even late at night, while saying that closed for the night.

Located in the Centre of Bologna, easily reached from the railway station and airport. Single room small, but very comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. I was impressed.

Great hotel in the Centre of bologna. There are the usual problems with the center of bologna, arriving by car. The place is very nice and quiet. The room I had was a little too close to the hotel lobby. Overall good.

Thoroughly enjoyed my 2 day stay at this beautiful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. Stayed in room 103, overlooking the street. Saturday morning we were treated to a show of super cars passing in their 'droves'. Lamborghini's, Ferrari's etc. (Lots of them! ). In the evening we dined at their Michelin restaurant, which I found very pleasant. The ambience of this former theatre was superb. On the small stage is a piano which was 'softly' played to us. The food was great, the price was. Well, you know what you're getting into (worth every penny). My only disappointment at the restaurant was the failure of the waiter (s) not allowing us to have pre-dinner drinks in the adjacent bar when we arrived at 19:53 (our table was booked for 20:00). We were told firmly the table was book for 20:00, therefore we were to be seated.

A truly unforgettable experience, from the rooms are unique in their kind to highly refined Cuisine in a relaxing and unique sensations in a city in some ways out of time THANKS.

Luxury and excellent service at a fair price. The hotel in a renovated Palazzo offers everything you dreamed as a guest: modern rooms with all amenities, large breakfast buffet, two restaurants with bar and very friendly service.

Truly enjoyed it: great service and excellent quality. Tortellini in brodo (especially this season) are unsurpassed! :).

I have been to a few hotels and I can confidently say you find many other immaculate hotels for this price. Polished stone/marble floors. Fantastic air-con from the front entrance all the way to the room. Perfect for the hottest months. The room I stayed in was minimalistic but superbly maintained. Not a spec of dirt, a sky box, high painted ceilings, a VERY comfortable queen/king sized bed. And an amazing private terrace/balcony overlooking Il Parco Della Montangolo and Via Dell'Independenza. The best surprise of the trip. My only gripe was the "mini-bar". It wasn't the normal sized half fridge but more of a mail-order beer cooler. 15 degrees at best isn't great but when it's 38 outside anything will do.

Finally something new in Bologna, excellent service in an amazing building.
