Under the present extreme pandemic conditions we are so happy to have stayed in this hotel. It is spotless, our room over looking the pool and bay of Naples was spacious and well equipped. The large pool was fabulous and spotless and clean poolside towels were provided daily. Every staff member was polite, courteous and extremely helpful and friendly and went out of their way at meal times to cater for everyone's individual needs. Excellent location for chilling out and the hotel provides a fab courtesy bus (which is punctual to its timetable and takes only 5 mins) to take you to the town of Sorrento to explore its wonderful sights and sounds.
We had a wonderful time and are sorry to be leaving tomorrow. We would highly recommend this Hotel. Thank you!

I was with my husband and young son, 3 nights and 4 days, what about everything MAGNIFICENT. Rooms with all amenities, Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, air conditioning, spotless pool, first quality and plentiful food. Staff (Waiters and everyone else) especially The waiters (all) who are very good people, super professional and super friendly. The manager also very good person, on the last day he offered us lunch, and also gave us the room for a few more hours. We will definitely stay here again. It was really all GREAT. Congratulations❤️❤️❤️❤️

This hotel is really beautiful. Clean rooms, friendly staff and a gorgeous pool, overlooking the Gulf of Naples. Breakfast is plentiful and for all tastes. In addition, the property provides a shuttle to reach the center of Sorrento (free) very useful to get around without using your car. Also the driver is really nice and helpful, which is very rare. I mean, we expected to be fine, but not so much. All beautiful, congratulations.

The view is amazing. There are hourly free shuttle service to the town center. The rooms are clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet is varied and adequate. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Have just returned yesterday from a fabulous week at The Grand Hotel Vesuvio… we had a lovely clean & charming room, (cleaned daily too) with ‘Amazing Wow breathtaking’ views across the bay. The hotel was very clean & tidy with very charming decor throughout a little step back in time we were delighted with our choice. The staff are all very helpful, friendly & the restaurant staff worked exceptionally hard & make seating, serving all the many guests each meal a breeze with their expert system well done A good varied menu choice each day too.
A lovely pool/snack bar & lunch terrace area out the back of the hotel with amazing views, lovely large swimming ‍♀️ pool although a tad too cold when you first get in lol. The regular shuttle bus was a real bonas each day credit to the driver he has a lot to put up with with some people’s rudeness at times. In all a BIG Thank you all at Grand Hotel Vesuvio for making our stay with you really memorable.

The place is genuinely beautiful. The staff are excellent and are always willing to go above and beyond to accommodate you. The prices are fair, and not excessive as some hotels are. The free shuttle bus is fantastic as taxis are extremely overpriced. The hotel has fantastic food options, a well stocked indoor bar plus a poolside snackbar. Finally, the Hotel as a whole is spotless. The toilets (even the more well used ones by the pool) are cleaned regularly and kept in a fantastic condition. The levels of cleanliness are off the scale.
I would highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

GHV is every bit as lovely as it was 32 years ago when we first came here. Lovely room, comfy bed, spotlessly clean, friendly staff across the hotel. How fantastic to still have table service! Lovely food — plenty of choice. Great shuttle bus service down to the town. Great views across the bay towards Vesuvius.

Haven’t had much time for sunbathing, so having an hour in between packing. Lots of little boats on the bay this morning, enjoying their Sunday sail. If anyone is thinking of holidaying in Sorrento, I can recommend this hotel. The staff are lovely, especially our shuttle bus driver who jokingly signed himself with the crucifix every morning before venturing out onto the roads.

The view is to die for, staff extremely obliging. Hotel itself very elegant. Comfortable and very clean rooms.

The 3 mile tunnel ride to get here was unbearable. But the place is beautiful and worth it!

It has been an interesting visit the hotel is beautiful but would be greatly improved possibly by having spa and beauty facilities for more relaxation. The views are beautiful over the bay but if the weather is not good there is not very much to focus on, it would be nice to be able to have a form of relaxation massages and a pampering sessions without leaving the Hotel. There is a shuttle bus that runs into town but I do believe they should definitely have a new driver because apparently he was quite rude and obnoxious other visitors said other than that I had a lovely stay in Sorrento a beautiful place to visit and I will return, not necessarily to that hotel.

Stayed for a week (just got back) and can't find a single fault. We had a couple of niggles but spoke to reception and the issues resolved in no time. Food was great, service good, staff wonderful and hotel clean & efficient — what more could we want (A fantastic view, bonus). It was our first trip to Italy and thanks to our experience at the grand hotel vesuvio we will definitely be back. Thank you for making our holiday special.

Visit number 14 or 15 and still as wonderful as ever. Ideal location. Great views. Food typical Italian anglosised fare. Friendly helpful staff. Only downside is the town of Sorrento … Far too busy, and getting busier every year.

Hotel staff were friendly. Front desk staff could definitely be more welcoming though. Hotel pool was very nice. Wider selection of food would be a plus. My personal rating of the hotel would be 3.5 to 4. I have stayed at some amazing places and been on some amazing cruise ships. So this is why I rated the hotel the way I did. Enjoying my trip to Italy.

My wife and I visited for a week during August 2018 and had a fantastic time staying at the hotel. The staff were very polite and extremely helpful. The food was also very good during our stay. Will certainly come back and stay again.

Definitely a very nice and well-placed hotel, too bad that the direction is unclear about the stay of pets, in my case a little dog.
I was not allowed to access the common dining areas, although I proposed a table at the exit next to the door.
Who does not accept my dog can not have my money! It is necessary to raise awareness against the abandonment of animals that in the summer increases considerably and even the facilities should contribute in a more concrete way, not accepting the presence of a dog and advising to close it alone in the room!

Like most in Sorrento it is not on the coast but high on top of the cliffs. However the bar terrace overlooks the bay and a free hotel bus takes you down to the beach. Good food, great staff and bar. Fabulous pool and pretty gardens I recommend upgrading from the regular rooms. I was there in the summer and was delighted to note that most of the veg is picked from the hotel's own gardens.

I am reluctant to rate as a 4 star not 5, this is down to our opinion though!
Can’t fault the hotel itself, the views we had were made of dreams! I’ll miss that view once we’re gone! The pool is fabulous — plenty of sun beds. The pool bar food is basic but very nice — the bar man was very friendly!
The free shuttle bus ran every hour from 8am until 11.15pm, (not 1-4) this was a godsend and takes about 6 mins each way — The only thing that gave it a 4 not a 5 was the food! Breakfast was typical continental food, ok if you want that every morning, after 7 days I couldn’t face it any more — again my personal opinion, not everyone’s I’m sure!
We paid for bed and breakfast only, but we decided to eat at the hotel for one night — thank goodness it was only one night! Dreadful Buffett, €30 per person of stodgy warmed up food, and we couldn’t even choose how much we wanted — bottle of wine €22 water etc — plus TAX — €139 FOR ONE MEAL!
We never in the 10 days did we ever pay more than €25 per person (not including drinks) and that was for lobster in an authentic restaurant in old town Sorrento! Average meal cost for us two in Sorrento including wine €60 So GHV prices are way over the top!
That said — we would come again — but only bed and breakfast!

Just back from 2 glorious weeks in this fab hotel with it's old style charm. Staff are very friendly, pool is great, terrace bar with view of Vesuvius amazing. Shuttle bus into Sorrento a big bonus, although the walk is only about 30 mins a bit hairy due to the mad driver's! Food and service in the dining hall lovely you can opt for buffet or table/waiter service (same menu) and swap dinner for lunch if out for the day. Hope to be back one day.

Views from the hill, service from the past, reasonable pricing and class from the Art Deco style. A Grand Hotel nestled just off downtown Sorrento with FREE BUS rides on a regular basis and easy to follow directions for drop off and pick up. Free Breakfast buffet. Good same everyday so if you want change, get up and go and don’t complain, don’t forget it’s included in your hotel pricing. At night music and night views to die for just far enough to see everything, but quiet enough to sleep with the patio doors open. All of the staff were helpful and knowledgeable and attempted to help all the visitors, but again this is a GRAND hotel from the past so you have many older classy designs and brings you back to the past.

Do not ever stay here. The hotel not only has a curfew of 2:30am but they also lock the doors to where you can not enter or leave the building after this time. Also not that I went to visit my sister and when we arrived the guy at the front desk became very rude when he found out I wasn’t staying there. After I tried explaining I was there only to visit my sister he got even more rude. Upon trying to explain to him I was just visiting and if it was a problemI would pay more on top of their room price for the night or even pay for another room just to spend sometime he called the police on us. He then began to yell and get aggressive with my sister who had been staying there and paid for her room. The police arrived and he spoke to them and made the police make me leave and was very rude with her and me. Shortly after I left and found a room to stay in and offered my sister to come visit me at my place we found out that she was not able to leave the building under any circumstances. She literally was not able to physically leave as all of the doors weee locked inside and out not allowing her to physically leave the building. She felt like a prisoner in a building she paid to stay in. Remind you this is supposed to be a 4 star horel. This should not be allowed and would be very much illegal to not allow your guest to leave the building at their own free will. Not to mention you spend a good amount of money to stay here. We will NEVER be staying here!

Hotel year 70 in all. From the rooms to the eating up to the service… It's time for renovations…

Very nice even in its retro charm! The rooms are spacious and with breathtaking views. Convenient shuttle bus service several times a day available thanks to the very nice paschal driver! The hotel has a crazy pool! Giant! The service is great. The breakfast is not wide in the variety of things offered! We would go back every year!

So far so good! We had the tourist special for dinner. The salmon and roast chicken were really good. Desert cake is great! Rooms are very nice.

Congratulations for the beautiful structure, for the quadruple rooms Sea view Super spacious, for the cleanliness, for the delicious cuisine and with a wide choice and for the services you offer but especially compliments for the professional staff, very kind and that made the My mom's only birthday. Thanks to Mr. Antonio and Mrs. Patrizia who followed me from booking to departure and thanks to the maitre d ' room for having thought of everything even to a beautiful cake offered by the Hotel.
I hope to come back for the summer and recommend everyone to go there.

Comfortable and good level, but not what I would expect from a 4 star hotel in Sorrento.

Panoramic Hotel that counts with shuttle to go to the center, if you want to do some wonderful photos, along the road that leads in the center you can appreciate the beauty of the Sorrentine Peninsula with the Vesuvius in front, what to say, panorama from "postcard". The Hotel has a friendly reception, always ready to help its guests.

The food is too common and no flavor.

A beautiful hotel with staff that provides a warm attention. The room was very nice and spacious. The breakfast was good and the pool was excellent. They offer a free bus service to the center of return.
The dinner was super abundant and delicious.
I felt very comfortable and I plan to return as soon as possible.

Had a lovely stay here in early October. Room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. Immaculately clean bed, though a tad hard, but comfortable enough for us. Lovely hot shower and plenty of storage space for our belongings. Food was very good, especially on the Sunday and Thursday nights when they do an extra special dinner — definitely not to be missed. Not sure what other reviewers were complaining about when leaving negative reviews about the food and in particular breakfast. There was adequate selection at breakfast for everyone to have something enjoyable and the coffee was definitely hot enough for us. Shuttle bus into Sorrento provided a very good service. The driver could make more effort to be courteous and welcoming instead of having his face in his phone at every opportunity, but good prompt service regardless. Sorrento is definitely within walking distance and a nice brisk walk for anyone who enjoys exercise, whilst working off the extra calories consumed during their stay. The road has no footpath in parts but keep left of the white line and cross over where the bends ahead are blind and it is definitely doable. Had a fabulous week in Sorrento and seeing the Amalfi coast. Will definitely return.

Far the best hotel we've met until today. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean and incredibly. Totally recommended.

Lovely hotel with gorgeous views, the rooms are very comfortable and the food is outstanding. The breakfasts are great with probably the best scrambled eggs I've ever had at a breakfast buffet! None of the horrible rubbery stuff that's so common, genuinely very tasty, as for the dinners, restaurant standard food was provided every single night, with fantastic service and reasonably priced drinks for the area. Not a single meal passed where I didn't feel it necessary to remark how lovely the food was. The hotel also runs a fantastic shuttle service which takes you right into the middle of town all throughout the day (bar siesta hours) and also runs a return service until 11:15pm, even if you decide to stay out a little later its only a short walk Really a lovely hotel that I'd strongly recommend, the pool is lovely, bar is lovely, beds are very comfortable, would highly recommend.

Hotel is lovely, clean, spacious and friendly. The view from or room on the 4th floor is stunning. We have been treated twice in our visit so far with fabulous fireworks displays at nearby Sorrento. Food at the hotel is superb. Every evening is a different 3 course meal. The buffet is also fantastic as is the BBQ. The pool area is clean and spacious with plenty of sun beds there are some parasols but also plenty of cool, shaded, comfortable areas to sit. There is a bus from the hotel into town but the walk is do able if you enjoy walking. Just take care on the roads as there are areas where there is no payments Would highly recommended this hotel.

They were very accommodating, when we arrived late the kitchen was kept open for a meal. The whole hotel and rooms are spotless. We left on an early excursion and the hotel offered to open breakfast early for us, instead we were given a packed breakfast and lunch. Nothing was a down side. The shuttle bus is helpful and probably needed for most people. This is a very good hotel.

Very nice hotel, near Capri, Amalfi Coast and Pompeii. Nice room, very clean and large pool well maintained. Large dining room and very good food at all meals with impeccable service.

Good hotel with friendly professional staff and nice rooms. Food is perfectly acceptable. Best meals are served om the buffet evenings. Bar prices about average for the area. Would like to see a greater variety of local beers but accept that most people would probably be drinking wine. There is a regular free bus service to and from town although this doesn't run in the afternoon but it is only a short walk that takes 20 minutes at a fairly slow pace. Although there is no pavement for the first part of the journey it doesn't feel unsafe braving the oncoming traffic. Local drivers are adept at avoiding pedestrians as well as other drivers. All in all a well situated hotel with a fantastic view of the bay and Mount Vesuvius, from the bar balcony.

Lovely views across the bay. Food is good, but not memorable. Waiter service is a nice touch. Hotel is big, so it never feels busy. Rooms are clean and bright. 20 minutes to walk into town or you can use the shuttle bus, which would benefit from being a little more frequent. Staff are good.

The hotel has a spectacular view of the Gulf of Naples, for this reason it is advisable to book a room with sea view. It is located in a quiet area and is well connected with the centre of Sorrento thanks to an efficient shuttle service. If you want to stay in the hotel you can relax on the edge of the semi-Olympic swimming pool which also has a small whirlpool area.

Only x the Gulf view part with a point more than the other… and then the elegance and beauty SN indescribable.

The hotel is in a great location. It is a few minutes from the center of Sorrento and from the terrace on the first floor you can enjoy a magnificent view. The restaurant offers a decent selection of wines and the food is great. An unforgivable flaw is the Wi-Fi (I was there for a Congress). Practically unusable for all the 3 days I was at the conference.

Great location, the rooms are a bit dated but overall clean and super friendly staff. I attended with my organization for a refresher course and was very comfortable.

Service was excellent, clean and well maintained room. The hotel is a little far from Sorrento but they have shuttles that can take you there and the view from the rooms is beautiful.

Nice but way up out of town.

Stayed for one week (mid October) and regretted I had not booked elsewhere. What makes people think it's a 5 star? Are they blind? Do they come from a care home? Staff are very friendly and helpful. View from a sea view room balcony is wonderful. Bed was comfortable. Hotel is stuck in the 70's. Desperately Needs remodeling. Cleanliness a 2 star. Be prepared for some mold around the tub toilet and sink. Our room had Some bird poo stains on the curtains. Don't expect a clean towel. The food is catered for people who either can't chew well or want food that tastes like a microwave meal. ALL of the Italian experience is taken out of the food and ambience of the hotel. Scrambled eggs every morning are runny and undercooked. No other options provided for eggs unless you ask and are not going on an excursion. There is no room service before 7am and no coffee shop at the hotel. No store at the hotel to purchase snacks or sandwich after 9pm. Hotel store is a useless souvenir shop with very few selection of drinks and snacks. No store in walking distance. Pasta is not fresh made but out of a packet. Fruit is out of a tin most days. Salad is self serve, watch out for the couple of flies. We saved our one week Italian holiday by eating out in real Italian restaurants and staying a couple of nights in real 4 star hotels in central Venice and Florence for the same price Versuvio charges. Will definitely return to Sorrento but will definitely not stay here.

HTL beautiful breathtaking view. But? the reception staff but. Very very undiplomatic. Almost nothing. Here's nothing right word.

Nice public rooms. Nice spaces and the overall property seemed ok on the surface but… I have stayed at better Best Westerns. The towels were threadbare. The bedspread had dubious human secretion stains and I have the picture to prove it. The eggs were literally green at breakfast. The sheets smelled like they had been left wet in the washer till they were mouldering. It was disgusting. Such a pity for a place with good bones. The TV was so last century and the curtains smelled like someone has urinated on them. It was gross. This place is a three star on a good day and obviously when I stayed it was not a good day. Upside? The staff driving the bus and manning the desk was very kind. Caveat Emptor.

Stayed here 20 years ago when I was a kid on two occasions and loved it. Went back last year with my parents, wife and child. Not only had a lovely time but the bar man remembered me as the hot chocolate boy (always ordered that when young). Hoping to go back this year or next.

Magnificent rooms. Had balcony overlooking the bay. Easy walk into Sorrento but there is a free hotel bus as well, Service exceptional. Food marginal. Not what I had expected in Italy. Amalfi coast tour is an absolute must.
