Reviews of Dattilo Wine Relais 2*
Excellent restaurant with Nice rooms. The owners did everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Try out the Dattilo menu with accomodating wines from the vineyard. The white wines where of exceptional quality in our opinion. You wont be dissapointed!
We were at the bed and breakfast for two days and at the restaurant for one night.
On the plus side:
— per se a charming location and a place with a certain dated charm.
— people nice and the tour of the winery was good and engaging.
— ther is a cool dog Rokko with a fun personality … loved him.
What killed the experience for us:
Air conditioning broken and despite request not fixed — the room had constantly > 30 degrees, sleep impossible for large parts of the night (as it is a bio area, keeping windows open on both sides not an option).
The advertised pool was dirty as in: not clean, robot onside but not working, lounges dirty. So NO usable pool.
Plus in general poor / unkept condition. The seating options outside have no cussions and are not kept clean (like in trousers are dirty after sitting on them). Doors of rooms are see through (like in there are cracks in the wooden doors so that you can see through).
The restaurant experience: Cooking quality very good, other guests brought their <1 year old to the michelin restaurant — we fled the scene.
Can not recommend the overall experience.

In summary, beyond disappointing and not what you would expect from any average restaurant, especially one with a Michelin star. Basic service and average food, at best. There are most definitely much better ways to spend your money and time. Perhaps it was an off night, but I have never seen an off night this bad.
I do not want to dwell too much time on a very disappointing experience. We have dined our fair share at very good restaurants and this was our second visit at Dattillo, therefore we have a good understanding of what a good experience should be, especially at this price point. Perhaps the very stale bread was a big warning of the challenging night to follow. The rest of the food was pleasant, but not standout by any means, and the last two dishes we could not eat. The service was also not standout, and sometimes reminded us of Fawlty Towers. On a very small positive note, the olive oil foam to enjoy with the bread was a nice touch, while the venue is also very nice.
The highlight of the bad experience was the chef (and owner of the restaurant), who explained to us that our palates were not sophisticated enough to appreciate the strong flavours of the final aubergine dish, which normally is part of the longer menu. Four out of six people on the table confirmed that all three components of the dish (aubergine, toast and sorbet) were extremely sour, which cannot be a question of different taste, especially when the squash pasta also had a similar taste profile.
