Review of The Fitzwilton Hotel 4*
Empty promises — ruined my mums 50th birthday celebrations!
I contacted the hotel to ask for additional extras they could offer in my mums room we had booked for her 50th birthday. I was offered some Prosecco which I paid €35 for over the phone before her arrival. I was also told that my mum would be pampered with some robes and slippers and that a happy birthday plate would be in the room on arrival.
When we checked in at 3.30, only one room was ready, that was no problem as check in was 4PM. When we got in, there was no birthday plate, no robes that was promised and no Prosecco which I paid for. I was absolutely gutted, I was expecting the surprise element for when my mum opened her room. I was completely underwhelmed as everything that had been promised to me, was not done.
We left the hotel at 4.30 and returned at 6.30 for some food. At this point we had been checked in for 3hours, which the hotel was fully aware of. Went to the room with high hopes again and again there was NOTHING. The worst part of the whole stay and experience was that I had to go and chase up these empty promises and chase up my €35 bottle of Prosecco I was also promised. I had to go to reception and ask, I was greeted unfriendly. I was given excuse after excuse that the receptionist never told the Porter when we checked in and so on, and was told it would be sorted. No apology for ruining my mums birthday surprise. The manager (a lady) was very rude.
I emailed the hotel to advise this before leaving a review, I received an apology but again the manager (the same lady) was incredible rude.
I was absolutely shocked with the overall service of the hotel and staff. I was so annoyed with the outcome after all my emails and discussions with the hotel. It was a very big occasion for us which was ruined. I had to tell my mum about it when I had to chase it up so there was no surprise to her day.
I would expect a lot better from a 4* hotel!
