BUYER BEWARE! Never got to stay there. Booked a trip to Dublin, to stay at The Merchant House, and then the big blizzard blew through Ireland and we were unable to touch down in Ireland at all. They refused to refund any of our stay, even though DUBLIN was closed which is why we couldn't stay there (no bus services, all roads and airports, etc). They did say that they'd give us a discount if we re-booked later. When we reached out to re-book for a summer trip, they refused to honor their promise (despite our having the emails) and now you couldn't pay me enough to stay at this place. What rude and dishonest people! Edited to add the photo of their very own booking confirmation and pre-arrival email. So funny. Yes, I was travelling with a friend, yes, it's booked in their name. Yes, I used WE in my original review, yes, they really are that horrible, folks. If your trip has NO hiccups — say, Dublin's weather completely keeping one out of the country — they're just fine but don't expect them to be the kind of B&B who will, say, honor the 'generous discount' offer which you and your roommate would have NEVER declined, because you love Ireland and fully planned on going back. "Nothing more we could have done" to get into the country during the snowstorm and certainly NOT A PLACE TO SPEND YOUR MONEY! As for the friend who booked the room, their response was: Your "generous offer" was to let us have free breakfast. I spent a lot of money on that room and it only went empty due to a huge storm that closed down Ireland. I don't consider a free breakfast to be a generous offer. You should be responsible and either honor my stay or refund the money.
