Just fantastic. Stayed here for my “special birthday “ and were blown away by the fab room, attention to detail and the friendly reception. There was no noise whatsoever considering the central location. Bram Stoker room was gorgeous. Thanks for a fabulous time and we will definitely return… no hesitation!

Stayed here on Saturday Night past. Stayed in the Bram Stoker room. Beautiful room… Everything was fabulous… Mini Bar, TV, DVD player with dvds included, Music player, Dyson heater, Underfloor heating in bathroom, beautiful sash old style windows.
Everything was immaculate… The decor in the room was fab.
Our housekeeper was such a lovely girl… Well done Letitia and sorry for keeping you waiting for us to arrive.
Very secure place to stay in the City… Seconds of a walk to all the great pubs of temple bar… Although it is expensive it is a lovely treat. We Definetely hope to return…
Also breakfast was in the Stage Door Cafe around the corner… Lives by its name. The best breakfast in Dublin… Top Class food and service.

Beautiful room, very elegant and excellent customer service will be coming here again.

Great hotel in a lovely location.

Beautiful, charming and clean room. We had a little trouble driving and figuring out where to park however, the staff was friendly and explained exactly where to go, that greatly helped to eliminate the stresses of navigating in an unfamiliar place. Would highly recommend this location as it is extremely close to tourist hot spots and within walking distance to many Dublin attractions. The hotel room can be a bit noisy at night but use the ear plugs provided and you'll be fine! We opted for the breakfast package that was at the Stage Door and that was excellent as well and we happened to meet the Stage Door owner who was extremely friendly as well as his staff! We'll be back to The Merchant House and Stage Door! Highly recommend this accomodation!

BUYER BEWARE! Never got to stay there. Booked a trip to Dublin, to stay at The Merchant House, and then the big blizzard blew through Ireland and we were unable to touch down in Ireland at all. They refused to refund any of our stay, even though DUBLIN was closed which is why we couldn't stay there (no bus services, all roads and airports, etc). They did say that they'd give us a discount if we re-booked later. When we reached out to re-book for a summer trip, they refused to honor their promise (despite our having the emails) and now you couldn't pay me enough to stay at this place. What rude and dishonest people! Edited to add the photo of their very own booking confirmation and pre-arrival email. So funny. Yes, I was travelling with a friend, yes, it's booked in their name. Yes, I used WE in my original review, yes, they really are that horrible, folks. If your trip has NO hiccups — say, Dublin's weather completely keeping one out of the country — they're just fine but don't expect them to be the kind of B&B who will, say, honor the 'generous discount' offer which you and your roommate would have NEVER declined, because you love Ireland and fully planned on going back. "Nothing more we could have done" to get into the country during the snowstorm and certainly NOT A PLACE TO SPEND YOUR MONEY! As for the friend who booked the room, their response was: Your "generous offer" was to let us have free breakfast.

If I could give them zero stars, I would. I planned a stay with them which was cancelled do to the "Beast from the East" snow storm. The Merchant House refused to refund my money, but said I could stay at another time. I am now redoing that trip but was told by The Merchant House all they could do is give me a free breakfast if I wish to stay with them.

Stayed there for a weekend. Far too expensive for what it is. Noisy til 4am due to party-goers. Pseudo-chic with plastic flowers etc — the description is really totally over the top. Narrow bed, at least for continental standards. Would not go again and would not recommend.

Just home from an amazing night in the James Joyce suite. Absolutely beautiful place to stay. Couldn't have asked for a better location!
Comfortable, spotless spacious, and everything you could need.
Will definitely be returning.

Location, location, location! We were guests at The Merchant House for 6 nights during the St. Patrick's Day Festival last week. Central to everything and in the heart of the city. A few minutes walk to the historical landmarks, great restaurants, lively pubs, and public transportation. We were half a block from the parade and it doesn't get any better than that. If the perfect location isn't enough, just wait until you experience the warm welcome from the staff and the char…ming decor of the suites. The Merchant House is 200+ years old and has tons of character. While there is no reception on site, you want for nothing. The friendly staff are only steps away and can be reached via the intercom. While there is no lift in a building this age, we were
met upon arrival by Kristian who gladly carried our luggage up the stairs to our well-appointed suites. He gives detailed instruction on how everything works. I stayed in the James Joyce Suite on the first level above the street. The party was in full swing outside in the street and the bar across from us as one might expect during the festival. I had anticipated sleepless nights in the heart of the Temple Bar area but that wasn't the case at all. With the double windows, shades and drapes, the noise didn't bother me in the least. The complimentary Wi-Fi was fast and I was able to easily connect to my job in Texas and work when necessary.

Great place for the quality of room but not a safe place and have to lock doors as you leave.

This place is a buried treasure hidden in the middle of Temple Bar. We stayed in the wonderful Bram Stoker suite and received EXCEPTIONAL service from Christian. Would love to return here one day. :)

Great little gem of a place in the centre of Dublin. Situated in the heart of Temple Bar, the liveliest area of Dublin. Ear plugs in room incase of outside noise but we haven't needed to use them. Stayed in the W. B. Yeats suite which is very spacious and clean. Kristian our host was polite, friendly and welcoming. Will definitely recommend this place to our friends and family.

Had a great time here, very central and a great base. The rooms are to a very high standard don't let the front of the Merchant house put you off this is a great place and I'd highly recommend it, I came here in November love Dublin, great City.
