Myself and this shoddy hotel have a history. Seems that every time I have come here I have left having waited for ages on my order which didn't come or left feeling so dissatisfied I had decided never to come here again … today having not come to this hotel for years because of poor service I decided to try it again to see if things had improved but even before I drove into the car park I doubted if it would. But in true typical marine hotel style I was again left waiting … and waiting … and waiting. For a cuppa and a scone today 15 minutes after being told to take A seat by the staff member I got up and walked out. Not out of the hotel but out into their back lawn. Where the one good thing about this hotel is … a stunning view of Howth and Bull Island. My advice is bring your own flask and cakes of your own and avoid the rude staff altogether just walk through and out onto their lawn and enjoy your own. No waiting involved. If memory serves me correctly this is my third or fourth time being rudely ignored by poor staff at this place. Come here for the view. Not the service NEVER again will I come here NEVER EVER again I have given this shoddy hotel a one star review. For one reason … Because I cannot leave a NO star review.

Nice sea views from most guest rooms. The hotel has a small swimming pool open to guests. No lifeguard present. Homely, relaxing bar and good bar menu in the hotel. There is also an Italian restaurant in hotel. You prebook for this. Good connections to Dublin city with Dart and bus service nearby. Village of Howth in close proximity with various attractions.

It is with great regret I provide such a poor rating. Saddened to say this beautiful, picturesque Hotel has seriously gone down hill from our first stay back in 2012. My husband and I got married here 5 years later to the day, and what should have been a most wonderful experience was ruined entirely by the incompetence of the management and subsequently the staff, we contacted the hotel to provide feedback which went completely ignored. Despite everything that happened; this is where we got married, following a return visit last month for our 1 year anniversary — we were even more disappointed by how badly the hotel is being managed. If I would not recommend getting married here or hosting any other event until the basics can be managed without causing so much unessesary stress to the patrons. I wont even begin with the issues from our big day… however during our most recent stay; it took 4 complaints and 1 whole hour (this is not an estimate! ) for the staff to finally clean up broken glass outside the Restaurant. We watched staff pass it by not collect any glass from the tables either on the way back and one listened to one member of staff even openly discuss with GUESTS what a "kip" the hotel was and that they were looking for a bew job so didn't care. Unbelievable. On the upside they've refurbished some of the rooms… which are nice. So there's your 1 star.

One of the reasons why I stayed at this hotel was because it's mostly positive reviews. It's location relative to Dublin city and other small towns seems to be the main attraction for this hotel. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are very small with no A/C, yes it's an older hotel but on warm days the bedrooms probably get very stuffy with opening the window not offering much ventilation. If you stay in a non refurbished room my opinion is you'll find out they are dated. While the hotel Is clean, my biggest issue is with the customer service and the lack of non-friendly Irish welcome you get with the staff. After a 16hr flight and been told you need to upgrade the room or else! because it wasn't very clear that when you book a room you're booking a room for one person and that's it, having a second person stay in the room there's an extra charge. Speaking of a 2nd person if you sleeping in one bed the bed we had was a large single but not really too comfortable for two people. While anyone from the US will know that if you book a USA hotel room there is never a charge for the second person staying with you. This hotel will charge you for two people staying in one room. My biggest issue with this hotel is when we went down for breakfast the next morning, I made a simple request for a grilled cheese sandwich, only to be told by the waitress "I can ask the chief but I already know the answer" which is no.

This hotel is brilliant I've been coming here for a few years now and love it. It's location is great for either howth Sutton and town.

Yes lovely hotel, it was absolutely packed when I was there with weddings, confirmations, and a funeral on but we had excellent service with good food etc. Normally a peaceful place with gardens to sit in and a lovely view of the sea.

What a lovely settling, great for a walk on the beach or into Howth. Great pool too, food and bar excellent. Room had a lovely view. But a bit chilly! Great value too.

Easy to find, great facilities, lovely food, great view of seafront. Carpark entry is easy to confuse with part of the main road and breakfast was a bit small, otherwise highly recommend a stay.

Beautiful hotel, with very helpful & friendly staff. The food was also beautiful with 100% for presentation & service.

Good staff but getting a bit dated now return visit met by nice lad saying if I wasn't staying in hotel couldn't park my car. Explained I was having lunch and was let in. Understand they may have a issue, but maybe best practice to clamp regular offenders instead approaching customers /patron's.

Nice hotel, located on the shores of Dublin Bay. Just on the isthmus to the Howth Peninsula.
The rooms look cozy, well-groomed, not prokurennymi. There is a fine of EUR 75 per room cleaning after smoking.
Shower caps and Body lotion, napkins are available.
I did not like the fact that the sink is installed separate faucets for cold and hot water. But there is a bath.
The room has a safe, hair dryer, iron with ironing board, electric kettle with everything you need.
There is also a restaurant serving Italian cuisine. There is a large courtyard with pine trees. There can be covered tables for any celebrations. The path from the back porch, through the whole yard, past the indoor pool leads to the shore of the bay. Very romantic view, especially at sunset.
The hotel has free internet.
Breakfast is also available for guests. Which are already included in the room rate.
The management says breakfast is free. That actually does not change the essence.
Not far from the hotel is a pharmacy, bar, shop, tennis club. A golf club is located on the Howth Peninsula. By the way on the peninsula also has something to see. For example a lock.
It is a 30-minute drive from the sea port, with ferries to the UK.

A typical hotel for a seaside resort. Quiet, well equipped and nicely located. The rooms are a bit busy but tidy.

Service very slow good when we got there attention Fish and chips nice and hot Beef not very hot.

Really well run hotel and restaurant. Super friendly and helpful staff! Food in the restaurant was good, wholesome dishes, local produce, tasty and well presented.

Happy days. We have had out wedding reception there. Just Love this place.

Food was very nice but the portions were very small, tasty but not filling.

I've eaten at the restaurant 4-5 times since it opened just over a year ago and it's always been a "grand" local eaterie. However it now appears to have gone up a notch. Food was excellent. Service was always pleasant and still is and they now seem to have got their timing down pat. 2 starters, 2 mains, 2 desserts, 1 beer, 1 soft drink, 1 coffee… €65. Good value for the quality on offer. One criticism would be that the wine would appear to be quite overpriced they really need to take that on board.

The Marine has been a regular haunt of ours, since we were married here, many years ago. Once inside, you are greeted by happy smiling faces all round. We usually drop in for an evening snack, which varies from a chicken tagliatelle to fish and chips. Washed down with a glass of sauvignon blanc and a pint for me, what more could a body ask for. We all deserve treats like this, on a regular basis.

I was invited to a 30th Birthday Party of my daughter's friend here at the Marine in Sutton just a few weeks ago. While everything about the party was lovely … lovely function room lovely food etc what stands out most for me was the dedication of one of your staff members Connie was her name to each and everyone at that party. But mostly to the guests who had a disability. I watched her give special attention to their enjoyment on the night. She went over and above to see that they got their food and teas and coffee safely to the table and cared for every little detail. Well done Connie and congrats Marine for having such lovely staff if really makes such a difference!

Its newly renovated and has beautiful see view from the back garden. Garden needs some improvement though.

Parking is free but there is never enough, getting out of the carpark takes a bit of luck. Prices reasonable friendly staff.

Great hotel; rooms, bar, staff, restaurant all very good.

Charming old world 'three star style' hotel popular for Sunday lunch — carvery and restaurant with stunning views of the water and an entrance to the water front directly from the hotel.

Very dissapointed with this hotel. For the price of room 179 for one night I was expecting at the least a sea view. I got a dog box of a room over looking the car park. No residence bar after 2am in fact you can't get outside after that as hubby was refused exit for a cigerette through the night. Staff were unhelpful in fact the chap I spoke to was quite smart (in what he thought, a helpful way). Save your money folks and go elsewhere as I definitely won't return. Certainly couldn't rate.

Hotel was pretty run down and needs some refurbishment. No attention to detail. Swimming pool is very small and didn't look very clean. We didn't allow children to use it. On the positive side, the staff were lovely. The location and view on to the beach is beautiful but definitely not worth it.

Nice hotel and set on lovely grounds with nice views of Dublin bay. Also serves good food. Gym and swimming pool available to member's and hotel guests. Close to howth fishing harbour. The area has some beautiful walks. Dublin city centre is about 40 minutes on the bus. And 20 minutes to Dublin airport by car.

Stayed here during the winter when the rates were lower. Overall is represented good value at €100 a night. The room was clean and adequately sized for a family of three, and the complimentary breakfast was outstanding. The hotel bar was a nice spot to relax in, and the swimming pool and sauna’s were an unexpected perk of staying at the hotel. I just wish we had found the nice beach at the back of the hotel a bit sooner!

This is an average hotel with tons of potential. First off, the people are great… very friendly and helpful. The location is also pretty good. It's very close to a DART station and you can walk to Howth. It also has a spectacular view. The hotel itself is a very nice building. However, it is in serious need of new carpeting. It looks old and worn, and our non-smoking room had that old stale smoke smell. The food is really bad. I never turn down a buffet breakfast, but here I did. So, like I said, it's an average hotel that, with a few changes, could be a great hotel.

The hotel has his best days are clearly behind himself and has clear signs of second-hand, dirt and mildew in expected places.
Despite everything, to be expected like in a hotel.

The service was shocking, had to ask for menus then had to repeatedly go to the bar for each thing. The food took ages and it was OK but everything was a struggle and not worth the price.

Lovely hotel for lunch or a coffee. Must go for dinner sometime too.

The food here is not that great, here twice recently once for a wedding, this was a good evening but that was down to the company, the meal was only OK, best part of out was dessert. Second time was for a funeral and we got good from the carvery which was pretty poor.

4 night stay; very comfortable hotel. Excellent meals and very good staff.

Very noisy in general, screaming kids allowed to run around corridors and stairs, parties downstairs. Fairly dirty, rooms old, scruffy bathrooms with dirty, cracked tiling. Advertising says 'internet in all areas of the hotel'. Rubbish, there was not internet throughout the hotel. In the lobby, yes, but in the rooms it was unusable. The breakfast was good, but service was fairly poor. A disappointing experience overall.

Go there for family occasions, great for everything.

Great place near the sea side and lovely place tto have a meal and lovely stafff have my dinner there very nice highly recomend to people to visit marine in sutton.
