Reviews of Castle Dargan Hotel 4*
Spacious rooms Good food but very expensive Friendly staff.
Unexpectedly, taken out for lunch on and ended up in Castle Dargan, great service, ambiance and the main and dessert was absolutely delicious, would definitely recommend Vicky’s Panna Cotta and the Coffee Créme Brûlée. From the staff to Nathan as Duty Manager, service was exceptional and would definitely recommend.
Had the most wonderful evening in Castle Dargan on Saturday with my family. The food was fantastic and the staff so friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.
The entire venue. it's setting, and view from the hotel itself. Beautiful. Excellent food, ambiance, friendly staff. Immaculately presented. The piano rooms my absolute favourite 💯👌🌅
Very helpful and pleasant staff. Beautiful experience all over.

We stayed in Castle Dargan for my husbands birthday. The hotel is beautiful and tranquil. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast was gorgeous. Fantastic golf coarse as well ⛳. Will definitely be back 😍
Had a beautiful night away here.
just loved it. So relaxing, I was so at peace here.
the food was beautiful. And great, happy, efficient staff. Isobel served us for our evening meal, wonderful server, pleasant and prompt and nothing was any trouble.
was our first time here and will definitely be back again.
Not a case of if we’ll be back, more like when we’ll be back 😀 (September 😂) Haven’t a bad word to say about the Castle Dargan hotel and it’s wonderful, friendly staff. Clean, spacious room and very helpful, very courteous staff members. Possibly the best breakfast I’ve ever had, and God knows I’ve had one or two 😀 Brilliant place to stay for a bit of exploring and seeing everything that this beautiful part of the country has to offer and don’t get me started about the golf course 🏌️♂️😍 Simply put, a must for all.
We stayed here last week for our 25th wedding anniversary. We had the best stay and was spoilt with lovely treats left in our bedroom. We had a lovely spa treatment and had the a beautiful meal later in the evening. Would definitely recommend anyone to stay here. We will be back. Paul and Anne.
Have a lovely lunch with a very nervous pal because of covid. Thank you to castle Dargan for a very enjoyable afternoon. We felt very comfortable and safe. Everything was done as it should and thanks to the very helpful friendly girl Aisling who looked after us today. We will be back. Foods was beautiful. Thanks again xx.
Lovely hotel, very friendly, great food and very nice staff. I've been here for 2 spa break weekends and a friends wedding. Love this place.
Myself and my partner had a fabulous weekend away here last weekend! My first impressions of the hotel were great, the hotel and grounds and amazing golfcourse and walkways so beautiful! Staff were friendly and attentive. Food was Fabulous and views for dinner in the area we were sat at upstairs were amazing! A very Relaxing vibe. Cocktails were also Fab! The room was nice and spacious. We will be returning and would recommend to Family &Friends for a relaxing breakaway!
Beautiful Hotel, very nice restaurant, delicious breakfast.
Therapist in spa are fantastic, really enjoyed treatments.
Lovely staff, great service both in the restaurant and Spa and relaxing atmosphere.
Been down a few times. For peace and quiet being an entertainer up north it’s Amazin how I can just sit back relax. In this stunning hotel the food is second to none and the staff are the most friendliest staff I have met. Now. I love my trips and hotels to Sligo and Galway. This is defs one not to miss.!
It's a hidden gem staff lovely food is fab very relaxed atmosphere can't understand why more ppl don't avail of the special offers defo be back.
Wedding, all was perfect best Wedding I've been too. The food was excellent and all the staff were amazing could not fault a thing.
A fabulous day was had in the spa. Staff very friendly.
Fantastic hotel, food, staff, service excellent. Highly recommend.
Lovely place great views and great grounds for walking.
We had our wedding at Castle Dargan 17.08.19, the entire day went smoothly, Tanya was great to deal with, Patrick and staff were so professional and the food was great. Will definitely recommend.
Yet again had the best Experience when we stayed here Friday night. A wonderful 5 course meal with The Dean Martin Tribute Act playing throughout. Relaxing, enjoyable, delicious and hosted by the most considerate hostess Breege. To say she went to the extreme to ensure our stay was enjoyable would not even suffice. So good to our twin girls, she is just such a lady and we will be returning very soon. 5 Star treatment.
And I have to give a mention to the ‘Hotel Pillows’ (my pet peeve everywhere we stay)
They were like clouds.
Fabulous night spent last night in castle dargan hotel to celebrate our engagement. Hotel is beautiful and food was delicious. Highly recommended a stay here.
Went for Bottomless Brunch and used the Thermal suites. Great day out for €35! the staff were great especially our waiter. Definitely will be back! ✌️♥️
Great service from the moment we arrived. The dinner was delicious.
Stayed in the hotel during the week only for one night unfortunately. Second time I had stayed there. Hotel was great, staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I can't wait to go back again.
What can we say. Myself and my husband came down on Monday past for our Mini moon. The first feel of the place and the welcome we got we decided to stay an extra night. The staff the food but most of all the surroundings were absolutely perfect. Can not wait to come back here.
Thank you all so much for making our time here so good.
Mr and Mrs McNicholl xx.
Don't book an event here. Customer service is terrible. We booked a christening here. They got our orders wrong, ran out of gravy, lost our cake, half our table got no vegetables. Our vegan guest had to eat her own yogurt she had with her they offered her melon or salad that wouldn't fill up any one. Kids got no dessert and kids live for their desserts. We paid 11euro per child to eat a main course and charged for the vegan. We were offered afternoon for 4 as compensation which we didn't accept as we didn't want to return and it was the cheapest thing they could give us. We spend a lot of money on that christening and it's a lifetime event it can't be redone and they didn't seem to care and played the victim saying staff were out sick and they were busy but my child's christening should have been a priority too.
Loved this place
Location nice and quiet
Helpful friendly efficient throughout
Warm cosy boutique hotel
Nice touches candles fresh flowers suitable backround music. Grounds lite up at night beautiful.
Excellent hotel, staff very friendly, fabulous food, lovely location and ideal for a relaxing escape!
We will return soon, calming atmosphere once you enter the hotel. Highly recommend.
I was over in Castledargan last Sunday for “Surprise Birthday Celebration “ and from minute we arrived I have nothing but praise to management and staff. We had beautiful lunch and Menu had plenty choices for adults and fabulous menu for younger little people (grandchildren). Also the children were entertained as “Bouncy Castle “ was indoors and kept them occupied and all had great time. Thank you once again and have nothing but praise from start to finish and would recommend Castledargan Hotel.
I had my wedding in Castledargan Hotel on Saturday and could not recommend them enough. Tanya was amazing and so helpful. Mary and Colm and all the rest of the staff could not do enough for you. Everyone raved about the service and the food. I would highly recommend them for a wedding they made the day perfect for us and I’ll never forget it x.
Loved their family fun Sunday all summwe. Would be great to see in winter months even once a month was such fun.
Had a 2 night stay in the castles apartments. On arrival we were put in a top floor one. My partner went to reception and explained that myself had mobility issues and couldn't do the stairs. The amazing receptionist Colette moved us too another one without any hassle. When we got too the apartment there was no towels so my partner again went too receptionist who couldn't apologise enough. The staff here couldn't do enough for us. The apartment itself was beautiful the views from massive windows was gorgeous and the bed very comfy, Breakfast was delicious I has pancakes (OMG out of this world) my partner had a fry… staff were very friendly just wish we could have stayed longer. We will defo be back and will also recommend to family and friends.
It's a lovely place on its own grounds. Lovely views. Was at a wedding there which I enjoyed very much. They have apartments also. I think they need to rethink their menu. I ordered seafood chowder and it was not at all what I expected. It was full of vegetables, but the fish whatever it was, was scarce and it was tomato based, which I didn't like. The rest of the food wasn't great either, including the wedding dinner. If they improved the food I would give 5 stars. There's a very nice golf club as well.
Had a great weekend here celebrating a weeding. Grounds and views were beautiful. The staff were very friendly, happy and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them.
Played golf here today and really enjoyed the course. It's a great test for all handicaps. Reminds me of both course at the K-Club, except not as mature, yet. Long course but plenty of Par-5's which help with the scoring. Some class Par-3's and testing Par-4's. Will definitely be back!
My sister & I went for a spa day. Massages etc was really relaxing but we were a little disappointed that sauna jacuzzi etc were out of order as work was going on if we had known we would have postponed to later date. Had light lunch after in bar which was very tasty.
Lovely setting, great views, good food and friendly atmosphere. Wonderful golf course! A hidden gem!
We all had an enjoyable wedding here. The view of the surrounding area is beautiful. The bedrooms are very spacious with comfortable beds. The staff were all very helpful.
Beautiful hotel with great staff. Stayed here on a few occasions for weddings always excellent food and atmosphere.
We stayed in the walled apartments last weekend as part of our hen weekend, they were beautiful and really spacious. The staff were so nice and treated us like V. I. Ps despite our fancy dress antics. Special thanks to Cathie who was fantastic from our first contact, she was so helpful despite how busy she was. Thank you Castle Dargan for a great weekend.
When you're due to get married in the midst of the 'Beast from the East' to say there were a few worries and concerns would be an understatement but Castle Dargan could not have done more. From their exceptional customer service (not just front of house but each and every member of the team) to their extordinary level of attention to detail, our entire wedding experience could not have been better! Now let me put this into context, we got married at the ages of 33 and 36, we've been to plenty of weddings and my wife… well she has an incredible eye for detail and her wedding day had been planned for at least 32 years! and when you have 50% of your guests stranded around the world including all of my (the grooms) immediate family the day could easily have gone south! But no Siobhan (GM) and the front of house team answered a million phone calls with smiles and positivity and were determined to deliver a day that for all our guests was exceptional! (And like my bride her family have exceptionally high standards too! ) I can honestly say that without pep talks from Siobhan the day would not have happened! The hotel provided a personalized service that made us feel like we were the only ones in the world. They did everything in their power to overcome each of the challenges that were presented and even proactively prepared back plans to help us if those times came.
Lovely decor lovely food lovely friendly staff. Enjoyed my visit 100%
It's a magnificent place, whether you're a golfer or health freak or just need a relaxing wee break, great for walks too. Beautiful scenery thrown in, food top class.
Stayed for a wedding nearby in early feb. The staff were just superb from the moment we arrived til the moment we left. Not the most glamorous hotel I have stayed in but the beds were super comfortable, and the rooms nice and clean. And the price of the stay was incredible value especially with the quality of the breakfast that was included. Would happily stay again if we were in the area.
I have now stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions, in the main hotel and in the castle dargan house suite. Castle dargan is perfect for a peaceful getaway, or a wedding, we had our wedding reception here and I must say the staff went above and beyond to give us the most amazing wedding. Wound recommend over and over again.
Very welcoming staff. Relaxing atmosphere. Food excellent. I would return again in an instant.
Very comfortable. Lovely staff. Great barman night Porter.
Lovely relaxing time, spacious clean apartments located 2 mins from the main hotel. Food was great in the bar and we ate again in the restaurant and it was lovely too.
The only attraction here is golf. I don't play. Hotel itself is just OK. You might enjoy your stay if you are a golfer, otherwise don't bother. We arrived around 10pm (late I accept) and had to drive around 7 miles to get a snack! Not even a sandwich on offer in the hotel. Disappointed.
It's a good place to have a wedding, the room is common if what you would see in most wedding venue s. The management and staff are very nice and accommodating.
Amazing hotel, wonderful experience. Staff were very nice and the environment was class.
Myself and my husband had our wedding ere last friday wk 3rd november it was a absoultely fantastic day from start to finish everything was 110% staff and service on the day was fantastic food was fantastic we would like to thank everyone at castle dargan a massive thank you for making our day so enjoyable a thank you to soibhan mary and big thanks to colm who looked after us all day thanks so much again anyone looking to book hotel for wedding definitely recommend castle dargan.
This hotel doesn't seem that old but it's already run down and in need of renovation. Some deep cleaning also needed. We got a deal so it wasn't too bad, but full priced rooms are way too much for what you get. The staff were nice though. The spa has one hot tub which has seen better days. Wouldn't aim to go here if it's a spa you're after. Again, staff were lovely though.
Had a restful night in quiet in a sumptuous setting.
The rooms, a little past, allow to recover well.
Quality Table and staff warm and attentive.
Nice location but not at the level of its name and fame. Restaurant is expensive and not so good, rooms need a DEEP cleaning and some renovation. Maybe in the past it was a better hotel, now the price level is higher than the overall quality.
This hotel needs serious communication between it's staff and constant updates of it's computer systems We arrived on Thursday had booked an apartment way back in April for wedding for 3 nights to be told no record. We could have room in hotel that night the wedding was Friday we would have to move on Friday to apartment but had no room on Saturday night for us. They eventually got us a room in hotel for the 3 nights not a nice greeting when you had driven 5hrs to get there The food is beautiful can't fault that. But the bar staff are also the reception staff so if you have a problem you have to go to bar as we did 3 times as our key cards wouldn't work. The dinning room really needs a good clean as in carpets and the chairs are a bit grubby. But it's in a nice quite place & lovely views.
Stayed here for our wedding anniversary on Sunday, the handle of the window in our room was broken so we couldn't close it, the door needed force to be closed and opened, the spa was dirty and there was bits of mould floating in the jacuzzi bath, very little to pick from on the menus, some staff were rude and never bothered to ask if we would like a drink with our meal, the food was lovely which was the only thing going for the hotel. To call this place a 4 star resort is an overstatement, 3 stars at the most, I've stayed in nicer holiday inns, we didn't even get asked how our stay was when we checked out and I believe we were over charged for our stay. I sent an email to complain but obviously didn't get a reply. It put a dampener on our much awaited for weekend away. Wouldn't recommend anyone to stay here and I won't be back.
Loved it. Great food. Lovely huge room. Excellent service and very very helpful staff.
Do not expect any kind of luxury from this spa! It is very bog standard with parts needing cleaned. The lockers in the changing rooms didn't have keys so we had to leave our bags, purses and phones in an open locker with a sign up saying that they took no responsibility for anything lost or stolen! The water cooler had no water in it, the fruit left for guests was rotten and there was no shampoo or shower gel in the showers for after our treatments! Although the girls were lovely and friendly they were very inexperienced with no senior member of staff on hand. This is very far from a 4 star hotel.
Was out In Castle Dargan for Afternoon Tea Yesterday, and I have to say it was absolutely beautiful. The food, the surroundings and the staff were so kind and very welcoming and could not do enough for us. A wonderful experience and I highly recommend it. A Beautiful place. Thank you Brid and All the staff Again for the Wonderful Service we got. Outstanding.
Staff very friendly & helpful. Good food pleasant surroundings. No pool and Spa facilities limited. Good golf course. Not the easiest place to find. Could do with a face lift. More 3 star than 4 as marketed.
We stayed in the apartments beside the hotel. As a whole the apartments are well below the standard we expected for the 4 star rating. We arrived to find all rubbish and laundry from the changeover sitting outside the apartments. This remained there for several hours even though the cleaning personnel had left. All the doors rattled throughout our stay making the stay v noisy. The carpets are filthy, badly in need of shampooing and cleaning. The fittings and fixtures are in bad repair, at least one bulb in each room was blown, the many door handles we broken or loose and many window latches were broken and sitting on the windowsills. A lot of work is needed to bring these apartments up to standard and finish them properly. The wedding we attended went off without a hitch but this was where the standard of hospitality ended. On the second day at breakfast our Coeliac friend asked about the gluten free options as listed on the menu, the waitress said the option was to remove the sausages and pudding from the breakfast. This is not a gluten free option this is just the removal of a few items from an already very small offering. When she asked the waiter was there anything else that could be offered instead a second very rude waitress came to the table and stated "you order from the menu only" and then walked away. On the second night, a group of the wedding party including us arrived back to the hotel.
Very poor customer service. Rooms lacked attention to detail. Will not be back.
Went to stay for 2 nights, but didnt even stay as our room was dirty on arrival. It also wasnt very child friendly.
Perfect for a quiet get away. Make sure to book the spa weeks in advance and be prepared for it to be busy.
Good for a family weekend away. The food was very good.
Enjoyed our stay. A few things went wrong in our room but they were dealt with straight away. It's a pity we had to wait 45 min. For our starter at dinner and half hour between courses Please please please teach the bar staff how to make an Irish coffee. The sugar goes in with the coffee and whiskey or its not Irish. Hope to go back to have a proper one.
I really liked this hotel on arrival we were offered a glass of precesso the staff were soo friendly, room spotless (with the exception of three cobwebs. ) We also played golf and I found the course wonderful well kept lovely greens a hilly enough course so was glad to take a buggy but would love to go back again it is certainly one I would and have recommended.
We arrived much later in the evening than we had planned for, but still found the hotel quite accessible and the staff simply delightful. The stay was definitely one of the highlights of our entire trip. We will definitely be returning and would recommend the stay to anyone.
This hotel has a very nice atmosphere, the rooms are modern and it is good value. The food would be above average and the staff was very friendly and welcoming. Overall the hotel is a modern, pleasant place to stay.

Had a Christmas party there on the 9th of December so I decided to book a room, once I got there I was greeted by a friendly receptionist, once I checked in I went to my room and I must say it was very clean and spacious and warm. Breakfast next day was very good too I definitely recommend this hotel and I'll be back.
