Stayed in apartments for 2 nights this weekend. Lovely clean comfortable apartment with all mod cons, great breakfast & delicious evening meal, staff were very friendly & helpful, ideal location. Look forward to going back there again 😊👍 as such a nice homely experience.

We always eat here every time we come to Westport! Such a lovely atmosphere, staff and owners are so so friendly! And of coarse cannot fault the food, absolutely gorgeous ❤️

We were here today for a meal it was the nicest meal we have had in a very long time wonderful friendly staff we will definitely be back.

Had a really good meal here. We had the Sunday lunch which is served till 4.30pm with the next sitting at 6pm. I had a tasty stew while the others had a roast dinner. Very reasonably priced too. Book ahead if you can as it's a popular spot on a Sunday.

Had dinner here. Researched a few of the local restaurants in town and liked the look of their menu. I was a bit disappointed. The food was nice, but nothing to write home about. I certainly can't complain about the quantity as they really know how to feed you, but the quality for the price just wasn't there. Calamari rings just tasted fried and didn't taste of anything else. Steak and fish was overcooked. It's a pub restaurant rather than a restaurant. If you're looking a quiet fancy night out, this isn't the place for that as it was full of families and children. The staff were friendly but the service wasn't at all polished — e. G. Had to ask for cutlery, took a while to be seated. Probably my own fault but I think the website made it out to be more than it actually was.

Great food and service. The seafood (scallops and black sole) was fresh and delicious. It was also nice to be able to sit outdoors overlooking the bay.

A group of four visited the helm on recommendtion. The style was interesting, loved the wood and style. However, seating cramped. Service was quick. The chips were plenty but we hardly touched them. The quality was poor. More like ends of a potato. I had the soup, which was excellent. The young member of staff who took our order found it difficult to smile.

Highly recommend to eat here. Excellent food definitely try the crab fishcakes. Staff very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be back.

Great irish food here. Menu is quite big so was doubtful how good the dishes would be given the variety but did not disappoint. Staff are friendly but it is a really busy venue so do seem to be rushed off their feet but they looked after us really well. Maybe another 1 or 2 front of house would be beneficial for speeding up paying the bill and getting check backs on the meals.

We stayed at the Helm last Saturday night (Bank Holiday weekend). We were late arriving and check in is at the bar. Even though the bar was heaving with people, the barman greeted me in a way that made me feel like I was an old friend he had been looking forward to reuniting with all day. He was in no way rushed and got someone to show us where we were staying. The restaurant was booked out but we were offered the menu and told someone would bring our food to our apartment. I thought this was so nice considering the apartment was a few doors down. We decided to wait outside in the sunshine and the waitress brought it out and again I felt I was talking to an old friend who advised me on what I should microwave and reminded me to put ice cream in fridge etc. I cannot emphasize how friendly and familiar the staff are. It really made us feel so welcome. The apartment itself was outstanding! We have two children and we had a two story apartment — two spacious, clean, bright bedrooms — great shower in the bathroom. Downstairs small kitchen, TV, dining area and couches with views of the harbor. Breakfast was delicious and having checked out early in the day we ended up returning there for late lunch before returning home. There was great music in the bar on Saturday night and if you are coeliac like me they are very enthusiastic about making a meal work for you. My only disappointment with the Helm was that they couldn't accommodate us for a second night! Can't recommend it enough.

Have been staying here while working in the area and the food is top class, the staff very friendly and helpful. Accommodation is also good. Clean warm and good Wi-Fi.

This premises is a combination of Restaurant and licensed premises. As a result it has a mixture of casual and formal. Drinks are good, food is tasty, reasonably priced, portions are generous, staff are friendly and helpful. Overall a very pleasant experience.

We booked a theee bed apartment at the Helm for this week. We had the most lovely welcome from PJ when checking in and the welcome pack in the apartment was so lovely. Breakfast in the Helm bar/restaurant was delicious. Will definitely book again.

A family run business, who welcomes both old friends & new alike. A fantastic place to eat & drink. Beautiful food served by really friendly staff at affordable prices & plenty of it. Definitely recommend a visit, though for evening meals, I would advise booking in advance. Thanks to Vinnie, Shane, Caroline & the rest of the staff for a wonderful stay as always.

Nice historical pub ambience. Delicious local food. Friendly service and guests. With a relaxed and open atmosphere and a good visit, the restaurant has a slightly higher volume.

All good nice food friendly staff great atmosphere stay at the helm you wont be disappointed.

Had the surf n turf. Possibly the best steak I've ever had. Cooked to perferection.

Hurricane came in and blew the power out in Westport. Went to the Helm and they were serving pints by candlelight! Came back and they made our party trays of cold sandwiches. Amazing!

Make sure to reserve seats. Quite good local cuisine. Priced in midfield. Very busy, nothing for romantic hours.

Nice pub with a great atmosphere. We stopped here during the day and the place was full of people but not too many, it was a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We were served quickly and politely. Later in the night we came back for drinks and there was lovely music playing which was great. Considering there was a very large group of us we were welcomed in. They even cleared some tables off to the side to make a little area were we could all chat and dance.

Very good, simple and Nice. A nice surprise, I highly recommend it.

I would recommend the helm to any and everyone its family friendly and the staff are absolutely great. The food top notch and well worth the money, declan, shane and dylan couldn't have made us more welcome if they tried all in all its 100% the place to stay.

I visited The Helm a couple of times over the summer and I was very impressed with the service and food every time. Gorgeous seafood options as well as steak etc. The portions were very generous too. Lovely location and nice atmosphere. Good job to all the staff and management. Very busy most times I passed near by so a reservation is advisable especially in the evenings or at the weekend.

8 of us had diner here. The food was great and the service was just right not in your face but always there. A great selection on the menu to suit all.

The Helm is such a heart warming, charming & friendly pub & restaurant. Each time we visit we always stop to have a portion of their amazing fresh crab claws. Vinny, you made our kids night when you gave us a little bag of tricks for around the camp fire. I hope the next time we're back Mayo will take home SAM! Your sons and staff are fantastic. Keep up the great work!

We stayed here on 27 December for two nights fab spot even had birthday cake in apartment supplied by helms for sons birthday food in restaurant super plenty to eat staff out of this world couldnt do enough for us will be back again sooner rather than later anne markey.
