12th August 2022 a day myself, my husband & our two little girls will never forget! What an amazing hotel we have on our door step! Thank you so much to Steven, Denise & all the staff in the great national hotel for a fantastic night! 🎉🎊🥳🍾 Would highly recommend them for any occasion! from the minute we booked our wedding back in 2020 Denise has been fantastic! Even when she was on maternity herself she kept in touch with us throughout it all! check out the videos & pictures on the page! the food was delicious & the service was brilliant! 5 star all the way! thank you all so much again! ☺️

My daughter had her wedding reception here and the food was fantastic as well as the service. Staff are all very helpful. The rooms are very spacious and we thoroughly enjoyed the wedding reception.

We had our wedding here in May, and it was the best day! The staff were fantastic and from start to finish could not have done enough for us, the food and service were brilliant, I would highly recommend! 🤩🙌

Service is excellent, food was beautiful and a wonderful atmosphere though out the hotel will definitely be back.

We had a lovely communion lunch at the hotel. The kids were very entertained. They had their face painted, tattoos on arms. I would highly recommend the hotel for any parties, functions, communions, confirmations and the list goes on… staff are very friendly and helful.

We got married in the great National July last and what an amazing experience, we're still talking about how good the food was! Denise was absaloutly fantastic, she went above and beyond to facilitate us and made our day extra special.

My partner booked us in here for a weekend away.
Lovely hotel in an ideal location for access to so many different things.
Rooms, restaurant, bar, spa and all facilities are fab. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
The gym and pool are really nice but, one down side is the cleanliness of the pool and area around the pool. There is a lot of debris in the pool such as discarded band aids and what appears to be a lot of gravel on the bottom, and it appears to be from the pool side which is clearly beginning to crumble and disintegrate. It looks like a cleaner has simply brushed any loose stuff into the pool.
The sauna must have at least a years worth of dirt on the floor under the seats and there is hardened dust and dirt between the boards on the seats.
The steam room seats feel grimy and don’t appear to have been cleaned properly in quite some time.
Area could do with a seriously good deep clean.

We had an amazing wedding day here. Denise is the best wedding coordinator you will ever come across. She is so friendly and organised and goes above and beyond! All our guests commented on the superb service and great meal. We would also like to mention Steven the duty manager who was fantastic and has a fantastic personality. We were made feel so special and looked after 100% would definitely recommend as a superb wedding venue. The garden is a fantastic spot for photos. The hotels outdoor area also feels very private for a wedding. Thank you so much guys.

Currently having a wonderful stay here. This is our first hotel stay since the pandemic began and we are so glad to say that we feel very safe with the measures they have in place, the staff are so friendly and efficient and are fantastic. The food and cocktails have been excellent and it has been a really positive experience. For future guests, the swimming pool is a little cramped (people trying to swim up and down and maintain social distance) but we understand having to accommodate both guests and members must be difficult, so choosing off-peak times would be best. We very much loved staying here and will return again, we will be recommending this hotel to our families and friends.

We just had a marvellous time, great food, great service, homely atmosphere, great pool facilities, would highly recommend a stay there, intend on returning very soon, the children hated leaving.

Hotel is situated just out of town, plenty of car parking. The rooms are very clean with a large bed clean bathroom, tea and coffee also ironing board. The staff are very polite and friendly. The food in Mc Shane’s bar is very good and reasonably priced also the bar prices are very reasonably €4-60 for a pint. This is a very family friendly hotel and there is a great spa as well.

We had our sons communion dinner last weekend and I just wanted to say what a fantastic meal and service we received. The staff are extremely polite and very helpful which made our day even more special. Massive thank you to you all and denise for make our little boys communion feel a bit normal during this difficult times.

To Denise and all the wonderful staff at the Great National in Ballina, We celebrated our wedding day in your hotel on the 28.08.20. It was absolutely perfect. It was a COVID wedding with reduced numbers and some restrictions but Denise and the staff made it feel no different. In Summer I was worried how a COVID wedding would work but Denise was with me from day one calming me down.
We were treated like royalty from start to finish. The food was amazing and super tasty; everything was hot and of a high standard! All the staff were friendly, prompt and attentive.
We had a Disney themed wedding; the hotel and staff were with me from the very start and were very supportive of it all.
We bought/made all the Disney things ourselves, wrapped them in boxes and sent them to the hotel. The staff dealt with how the Disney items were put on the tables/around the hotel. They did an amazing job and everything was presented beautifully. I am so happy with how everything went and how we were treated in your hotel. I would highly recommend The Great National for any event, they went above and beyond their call of duty. They exceeded our expectations.

The toilet was dirty on arrival. Furniture hadn't been put back in place after cleaning. Ordered dinner to the room. Wrong order sent up. Breakfast was so badly organised, even though the time slot was prebooked. 20minutes queuing, didn't get toast after asking twice. Spent ~€250 for the night including dinner, and honestly couldn't wait to get out.
Staff were friendly but won't be returning. Very disappointing.

Lovely hotel great location room was a family room wasnt as big as I thought wasnt the cleanest I brought my own disfections sprays due to covid and I took alot of stains off top of units and the remote looked like it hadnt been wiped in a long time lovely staff lovely food I would come back.

This hotel was amazing from arrival till we got home. We attended Keith Barry I got to meet him and I’ve wanted to for years. The rooms were so cosy and warm, the shower was great. The food was absolutely delicious and the cocktails were outstanding. I would like to say a massive thanks to the assistant manager David for helping us get food after or night out by calling a lovely taxi man. Thanks so much to the girl that was making the cocktails after Keith Barry’s show. I will definitely be back to stay as it was definitely like a 5 star hotel and should be rated higher.

Lovely hotel we really enjoyed our stay all staff was so nice and they made us feel very welcome. Myself my fiance and our kids would definitely come back.

Had our sons christening here last Saturday. Couldn't fault a thing. The food was delicious, the room decorated lovely and staff were amazing. Denise made organising it a simple task. Highly recommend.

Would highly recommend this hotel. We stayed here over the st Patrick's holiday weekend. Rooms were warm comfortable and spotless. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Definitely will be back again …

Stayed the long st Patrick’s w. End. Couldn’t fault the staff, food or hotel at all. Great w. End. Not a lover of country and western music so not my scene apart from that brilliant. Staff worked very long shifts but still managed a smile and very helpful.

Most importantly the hotel was well priced! As opposed to other hotels that are overrated and overpriced! Matthew who worked at reception couldn't do enough when we arrived. Went for a meal in the bar and was very good. The French waiter who served us was an absolute gentleman and everything was no bother. Would come back to great national again. Stephen mulligan.

We had our wedding reception at the Great National Hotel on 11/08/18.
The hotel was beautiful, the food was excellent and the whole day was perfect. Thank you to all the staff, they were friendly, efficient and helpful. … A massive thank you to Denise the wedding co-ordinator, she was so organised and helpful throughout the whole planning process. Myself and my husband would like to thank Denise and all the amazing staff of the great national hotel for making our wedding on 18/08/18 so perfect. They all went over and above to make sure that our special day ran Smoothly. We had 278 guests and each and every one of them had a fantastic day are raving about it. Spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Skip the breakfast. Every critique I've read was completely accurate.

Lovely hotel. Staff couldn't of been any nicer so friendly. Food was beautiful. Kids loved swimming pool and kids club was a bonus and kids recieved lovely gifts kids on arrival.

Had a lovely stay, rooms were nice and spacious. Very clean. Food in the bar was lovely. We forgot our son's night light and emailed reception and they will post it on. Lovely staff and lovely hotel.

Stay elsewhere. The staff seem to have a 'am just doing my job" attitude. We didn't book breakfast and had to pay extra this morning. My other half was sitting eating his breakfast and 2 different waitresses asked him if he wanted to pay now for breakfast or at check-out, even though reception said we could pay at checkout. We just paid. This hotel, to us is like a hotel which is about to close. Standards have dropped dramatically. Cobwebs hanging for light in en suite, worse was the filthy, ring stained cups — after housekeeping had been, the pool is dirty and tired looking. We'll never return.

Lovely hotel. Great location, nice quite area of Ballina but still driving distance from lots of attractions. On arrival the kids got a lovely welcome pack with t-shirts, magnets and colours and an activity pack, which my boys loved. Very helpful and friendly staff. We had dinner in the restaurant which was beautiful, I had a delicious curry. And breakfast was also lovely.

Great staff friendly and obliging Breakfast is selfservice there is a good selection and choice but food could be hotter. Ten minutes outside Ballina town centre by car. I would stay here again. Big Thank you to all the wonderful staff.

Grate food. Staff are lovely to us a grate place for to get a dinner. I recommended to anyone that's a 100 miles of ballina to have lunch in this hotel you will not be disappointed To anyone to go and have a bite to eat in this fabulous hotel You won't be disappointed From P.

Stayed 2 nights lovely staff great rooms very clean. The breakfast was great and restaurant food was very good. Taxi fares to and from Ballina I thought a bit pricey. Would definitely stay here again.

Lovely staff, great rooms, good food. A games room or play area for kids would be welcome. Leisure centre very good although the dressing rooms could have been warmer.

Summary: Nice hotel, nice staff. Great relaxing stay Staff: very friendly and helpful staff wanting to help out and accommodate any requests Hotel: beautiful hotel. Foyer very grand, very clean. Toilets are clean Rooms: rooms were very clean. Only annoyance was the shower is 226 was flakey going hot to cold to hot Restaurant: limited menu but everything in it was delicious. (We were a large group). Breakfast was good. Bar: limited selection of beer otherwise nice clean bar with friendly staff. No craft beers available. SPA Facilities: These aren't great. It is run down with corrosion on the hand rails, the steam room doesn't work, the Jacuzzi just about works. The pool was just about warm.

Friendly professional front of house staff, she was excellent. Spotlessly clean & well presented. I 100% receamend this fine Hotel.

The rooms are excellent, the staff were very helpful. I really could not fault the hotel at all. The hotel in general had a lovely warm atmosphere and the heating in the rooms was perfect.

Attended a wedding here in December 2017. They put on a great spread. Excellent service. Room was a little tired but the price reflected on this.

Was recommended to stay at the Grand National Hotel in Ballina as I was visiting a client a stones throw away so the location was ideal. The hotel offers good value for money and McShane's Bar & Bistro offered a pleasant atmosphere with friendly members of staff. The food was fantastic and cooked to order. The room however was basic and the decor a little tired for almost 2018 but for the money, I can't really complain too much. Will be staying again in the future.

Spent two wonderful nights here with my wife and two girls. The staff were extremely helpful with any requests we had. The family room was large and comfortable. The leisure centre was clean and yet again the staff were great. Had dinner both nights and even though there was a function on one night and a wedding the next the staff took their time making sure we were happy. We will return.

We stayed here with our two year old son and it was ideal. He loves swimming so were in the pool every day. Staff very friendly, breakfast buffet was superb and room was big and kept very clean.

We had our wedding in the Great National Hotel Ballina on the 25thof August 2017. Everything was perfect and we had the best day of our lives. Denise was a pleasure to deal with and was so helpful from day one (she is a star! ). When we explained what kind of a day we wanted she suggested people and ideas that would complement our day. All of which were perfect. Any query we had was replied to so quickly and the help we got with planning our day was just amazing. The food on the day was incredible and so many our guests told us how much they enjoyed it. We would highly recommend The Great National Hotel Ballina as a wedding venue, if only we could do it all again!

I have been working in Ballina between two and three days per week for the past couple of months and the Ballina Manor has become my hotel of choice in the town. Good value, very clean and good facilities. It's one downside is that it is approx 1km from the town but as I travel by car that isn't an issue for me.

As far as everything was good also the food is for everyone what the room and the bathroom were also very clean.

Class hotel defiantly go there again. Dinner an breakfast hit the spot. Room was clean spacious. Lovely large reception area for chilling an people watching. 9/10. Only one suggestion, could someone please change the in-house music three days of jazz music morning noon and night is too much.

Never stayed here but have eaten here a number of times. Food is good but the service can be very slow, we have being left 30 — 40mins for food to come out with young kids getting fed up.

Very good quality, comfortable bedding. Possibility of an extra bed.

Was a nice place to stay, dinner was average and motors from air con outsise did affect our comfort.

Just had a lovely night in this hotel with my husband, daughter and 5 grandchildren meet by friendly and help staff rooms clean and comfortable swimming pool lovely food fantastic I cant say enough about the staff they made us feel so welcome hope to get back soon Thanks for everything.

The Hotel Ballina is situated just off the N26, outside of Ballina town. The rooms are clean and well appointed, the food and facilities are good. However those guests at the back of the hotel will have to suffer the noise of air conditioners from the attached leisure centre. The hotel also suffered a severe lack of towels during our stay.
