Sonargaon is one of the best “older” traditional restaurants in Calcutta though Chinoiserie has gone down a bit! Indian food and Bengali cuisine with impeccable service is still there with a relaxed ambience and old world charm. I loved the dahi kebab there, the naan breads, the kebabs and the lamb shanks, with desserts are awesome as well as the kali dal and prawn dishes on the menu. Particularly like a pot of tea and sandwiches after shopping at Khazana!

The architecture of the hotel is so gorgeous. I am so fond of the lobby. My favourite time at the hotel is when the violinists come in the evening and play for hours. The cutting chai at 5 pm at the loony is authentic and perfect! All the employees are really lovely. Taj Bengal is full of warmth!

Excellent hospitality. I wanted an avocado salad in the evening, which apparently wasn't on the menu, but the chef had no problem in preparing one on my request. It was of decent quality. The room while not as spacious as some of the hotels in the same price range, but nevertheless, was decently adequate and most importantly the hotel is centrally located.

Good service. I liked the dinner buffet here. Many options to choose from and the food was delicious. I stayed here for a day. It has a railway themed bar. The ambience is quite classic. You can sit on the poolside too. The only problem with the place is, you won't get a taxi outside easily. Enjoy your stay!

Well maintained rooms and very good service. The location is good with all the important Kolkata places within a short drive. The restaurants and the meeting rooms are all very good. They can take care of small group conferences with 20-30 seats and go upto full fledged conferences with 600 people.

The western toilet didn't had handheld spray gun… No water!. Team Taj should remember that most Indian still use water in toilets for anal cleansing and cleaning the genitals after defecation and urination. I know whole setup, is to woo the foreign clientele base, but please not at the cost of Indian habit & culture. Don't want British Raj kinda again in our own country.

Taj Bengal is one of the best premier 5 star hotels in the city. Right from the facility of valet parking to an exquisite reception area the hotel has wonderful banquet halls. The dining experience is enhanced with a beautiful and courteous staff. The hotel has always been a home to the international cricket teams while they played at Eden Gardens. Both history and reputation speaks well in leaps and bounds…

Luxurious please to stay 1. Accomodation is very good, Have different kinds of rooms (suite rooms, single rooms, twin rooms, double rooms etc) 2. Here have a multi cuisine restaurant Where you can find different kinds of dishes (French, Italian, Indian, Mongolian, Chinese, etc) with world class service. 3. Customer service is world class 4. Hotel staffs are very good.

The cafe recently refurbished is different. The quality of the food seems to have gone down a bit though it is still good. The choices in the non-vegetarian section was very limited and for starters you only had one veg and one non-veg! I have had more choices and better food in the same place before. The dessert section had a lot of choices and some items looked better than they tasted. Overall a bit dissapointed at the change. No doubt Taj will live up to its reputation and improve. Hopefully my review next time will be different too.

Good facility and surroundings. Service was disappointing. Took 4 tries over 24 hours for them to capture all my passport info. Was at pool with kids and tried to order food. Was told they do not serve food at pool. Tried to take my 3 yo daughter to bathroom and was told I could not take her to men’s room. I needed to give her to a female (a stranger to me) who would take my 3 yo to the ladies bathroom. (I have 3 daughters and have never been told a father can’t take his infant daughters to the restroom). And room had bad wiring as well. A very strange experience in first 24 hours.

This place has the old world charm and modern world beauty! My all time fav. Everything about Taj is so perfect that any changes they make in the hotel is almost like improving upon perfection. Its beautiful. Wonderful staff. Super amazing food… just amazing!

It is a cozy, nice, comfortable place which makes you feel at home, but the service has deteriorated lately, unlike what it was in the past. But still as it carries the Tata name it has a certain degree, amount of standard which this place does maintain even now. The ambience is fabulous, overlooking the swimming pool. The food is awesome. This place is situated at a very nice location. It is conveniently accessible.

Went for a lovely family dinner at sonargaon. Had a great time with. Efficient servicing. Amazing meal. Nothing was really offbeat. The rustic village like ambience amidst the spectacular interior of the property was a great place to be at.

Taj junction is always a favourite place to hang out with friends… the music is light… drinks are good … hospitality can be rated ten on ten … they have good happy hours deal … especially the epicure members can enjoy a lot of facility… food at coffee shop is very nice as they have varieties during lunch buffet… One can just sit completely relaxed at the coffee shop and enjoy the different variety of food …

This is a biggest hotel in kolkata and very beautiful place for family tour. Biggest banquet hall and very nice decoration. Restaurant is very good and food served is excellent. Pool side lone are very beautiful nature garden. Parking place also looking good. All staff are good behavior and helpful.

It is grand! Loved the cafe "The Promenade ". The hotel is very well maintained and looks plush! The staff is very cordial and always greets with a smile. Lives up to the 5 star expectation.

Excellent ambience. Cozy rooms. And great food. But the biggest drawback is the toilet don't have hygiene faucet. Seriously!

Wonderful stay for both business and pleasure. Conference room staff were very helpful (when I had a requirement) and the food at Souk is super delicious. Very good and personalised service.

Well first of all the people working there even the guards were very courteous. Though I went there for a social event, they greeted us as a guest and their behaviour was very good. The place is really nice. We went straight down towards a conference room where the event was hosted and we were treated in a very well mannered way. They even offered complimentary tea and snacks.

Everyone is important. 1st rule of a good hotel. Parking issues. More number of people for help should be available outside. Rest is fine. Quite a good place otherwise.

Despite the degrading standard of guests and staff alike, our all-time favourite. No questions about the brand. The new look Cal 27 is inviting and full of warmth. The overall degeneration afflicts all formerly exclusive properties where now the lowly and the undeserving freely congregate. But what to do! Sad but inevitable. Taj remains a pleasure always.

When it comes to luxury hotels, Taj has a sterling reputation. I found their hospitality quite appreciable. The rooms were aesthetically pleasing and furnitures were quite snug. However, there remain certain areas of improvement. Let's start with the pros first: *Situated in the heart of city with the zoo and national library at a walking distance *Well trained staff at the reception Visually delightful lobby and rooms *Snug furniture *Large interior area Now, coming to the cons: *Food can be a lot better (talking about the coffee house restaurant) *Very limited options if you are a vegetarian.

The place was fantastic. Amazing customer service amazing beds and was really comfortable. Would definitely come here for another visit. The place is also located at a very critical point in Bengal so you can reach airport in just one hour and other areas are very close. The only reason I took one star out is because the room service at take is usually way faster than my previous stays at other take hotels.

The grandiose this hotel has in its ambience appeals to me a lot personally. I am here today to attend Travel India 2017, a conference and expo on travel & tourism. Feel blessed to be at Taj Bengal, a fascinating place of hospitality in the city of Kolkata.

Attended a corporate party hosted on the terrace. Overall ambience and reception was very good. The roof top easily accommodated around 250 to 300 people. The food however was not amazing and was pretty standard. The overall property was pretty huge and impressive! You will feel the luxury it can offers as soon as you enter the main lobby. Overall it was a very good experience.

Staff is really very nice and smart. Everything here is neat and clean. If I were to rate the serving of food here I would have given 5 star. Only issue is the price. They are some times way expensive. Security is excellent.

Had a wonderfu buffet lunch at CAL27, the recently operational gourmand restaurant at the Taj, Kolkata. Delectable dishes on offer. As always, was wishing my stomach was 3 sizes bigger so that I could also savour some made-to-order cuisine on top of the fare readily available. Finished in great style with a lavish butterscotch ice cream dipped in sinful of hot chocolate sauce, and topped up with a big cupful of Latte (Coffee). Aah Raj!

I am in Calcutta for work and the facility is also great for tourism. Definitely worth the price and the staff is extremely courteous is available.

This is nothing but a beauty, just opposite Alipur Zoo. Lush green surrounding, quality Jacuzzi, Sauna. Unmatched service. Some finest cuisine. Location is also very nice near city centre. Taxi available. Overall awesome. Just loved it.

It's a wonderful place, great vibe, energy in the staff & even the patrons. Lively place, must visit & preferably stay. The Gym with sauna, steam & jacuzzi is great. The spa with Swedish massage etc is good. The staff is ever cheerful & helpful to the minutest requirements. Ciao.

Taj Bengal is the ultimate destination if you want the best service in Calcutta! Right from the entrance to the part you leave the place — it's the best luxurious service you can get! Although the food isn't what an average Indian prefers — spicy! The drinks and the dessert are the best thing about the food!

Taj Bengal is one of the best hotels of Kolkata. Though it's not located in an ideal place, that is opposite zoo, it is still the most popular 5 star hotel. Beautifully decorated. You can sit and have coffee just admiring the beauty of the hotel. Food is good. Staff is super friendly. Wonderful experience.

It was a wonderful stay. The staff was extremely nice and organize, Food was wonderful and service in general perfect. Beautiful and clean hotel. Nothing to add but please keep the same standard. Hopefully I can come there more often. I had a very relaxing time, even if it was my business short stay. The tour which can be organized by the hotel staff, around the city is very interesting. It's very well organized (in 4 hours you can visit all important places), great car, great driver. Thank you!

The driver they assigned to me, his service, the travel desk and their service, the security men, the restaurant staff, reception, chamber maids. Everyone looked after me and my mother throughout our stay from Scotland. Organised my trains and internal travel I needed. Escorted us and looked after us. The food is amazing, huge selection. Lovely rooms. Thank you to every one of you for giving me this experience I will treasure forever. I will definitely be back next year. No doubt about that. There is no other hotel for me. My daughter Mahima left Kolkatta from The Taj Bengal last week 23/4. All her events were beautifully manned by Sadaf, room skills and comforts were arranged very well by Suparna under the competent guidance and vigilance and leadership of Mr. Zaid Farouqui. Chef: excellent Staff : excellent Bell boys : excellent Security : excellent It was flawless. I am very happy, thank you all.

Been to many hotels. This is one of the best. The lift lobbies smell so good with lemongrass infused essence. I'll never forget that.

Stayed here for 2 days. You can feel the aura the moment you entire with a warm namaste from security followed by very friendly receptionists. You will feel like Taj wherever you go. My favourite section was "The Humb", God I'll miss the food. If in Kolkata would love to visit Humb in any given time. Big thanks to Reservation Desk, Duty Manager for arranging a Spa room during the visit, as I stepped in early and I had interviews scheduled on the same day.

I have heard of Taj Bengal. When I visited last year here I have enjoyed quite well. The rooms are very nice & hall presentations in looks are beautiful.

An excellent hotel in Kolkata with a keen eye on detail. Amenities are above average, service and restaurants are excellent. The rooms are spacious & the complimentary bottle of wine was a added surprise.

Why kolkata taj does not have proper printing, advertisement or seasonal offers for the people of west bengal? the people of west bengal is neglected from enjoying those world class facilities. Not only in this state also around the india specially domestic tourist places. For example, mumbai, delhi, rajasthan, chennai etc.
