The property is beautiful, good food at the Vista restaurant and wonderful staff in general. Stay at the executive rooms for a good experience. The gym is super tiny and has 3 machines — a treadmill (wasn't working while I was there), an elliptical and a cycle. The pool is lovely.

Like the place. Was only a small detour from the highway to teach here. Lot of peacocks around. Kid had a good time feeding them. In the expensive side, when compared to similar resorts. Buffet can offer a better spread.

Awesome location, heritage property. Away from local bustle, on a small hilltop. Part of Property was built in british era. You will find many peacocks spending their morning in the property.

Calm and serene place situated on a hillock. An old English bungalow converted to a star hotel. The food's good and they have a well stocked bar. For the property and services, the prices are reasonable. A lot of peacocks roost on this Hill and early morning or late afternoon is an ideal time to see them.

Hilly terrain with scenic views. Too expensive. Not the value for money.

Fantastic very nicely landscaped park where the houses of the hotel stand. Perfect service and very good food. But beware of the peacocks, they also like to eat off the table.

Lovely hotel. The peacocks were to good. Enjoy the stay with a peacock feeding session before the temple visits.

Excellent ambience with awesome service… an old colonial bungalow is restored as Bar… one should definitely visit.

A spacious complex with a huge garden, a relaxing pool. The room was very clean and the breakfast was very good.
A late lunch with a view of the city thrilled us immediately. Also the breakfast and dinner could convince us completely. The service was wonderful and after the strenuous sightseeing program in Madurai we were happy to be able to relax in this wonderful oasis with lots of greenery and the magnificent view of the city. We enjoyed the very good service and the friendliness of the staff.

Good hotel in the city, located uniquely. Quality service. Expensive too. One can spot peacocks there. About few metres drive uphill from main road. Isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city.

It's location is its plus. An entire small hill has been utilised and the property sits on its top. Rooms are up to the Taj's reputation. Best part of this place is the peacocks roaming around freely. Kids will love this place for sure. Food is good. Nice selection and varieties. Good place to stay for couple of days and more if budget permits you to do so.

Good property. Not so exciting. Colonial construction. Pretty far inside from the city. To reach outside, it would take a drive of 1 plus kilometres. One restaurant only. Food is good. Again not so exciting.

Retaining its old world charm and blending it with a measured degree of contemporary facilities, this Taj hotel is truly a garden retreat. Despite the slight misses here and there, it is beautiful and unparalleled. The view is breathtaking.

Nice place to stay. They tried a lot to maintain nature and animals. Can find birds too. Nice and well recommended. It's a five star rated hotel managed by TAJ group. A better experience to enjoy. Do recommend to others who can spend more money to spend. Since it's TAJ it's expensive too… it's not recommended for medium class of people like me as its expensive.

This is a beautiful place to stay in. Nice ambience. Nature is breath taking and the peacocks running around will leave you with a content feeling.

Food was excellent but let down by accommodation… we were put in a room next to the laundry with a view of fire buckets and service in the room was poor… not all towels replaced on our second day. Pool area OK but prepare for a climb… wildlife amazing.

Nice hotel but room looking a bit tired and in need of some refurbishment and repair. The plumbing seemed troublesome with many guests losing their hot water. The air-conditioning systems are very noisy and see to be on full or off. On the upside food in restaurant is good quality and staff very helpful. To get 5 stars it needs some investment. The grounds are very pleasant with great views over the city. Good bird life and interesting plants in the gardens.

Best 5 star hotel in Madurai. Nice place for accommodation and dinning. Has lots of historical stories behind this place. Little bit costly and suite for high class peoples.

One of the best place to spend your evening with your family in madurai. From the restaurant the view will be awesome… Food I will rate as average to good. People in the restaurant are very friendly and ready to help always.

The rooms are spacious and clean. The staff is very friendly. The location is cool. We can see the complete city from the hotel since it is on a mountain. Loved everything about it. The only thing that I can think of which requires improvement is in the fact that the extra bed that they give is not very comfortable (if more than 2 ppl are staying in a room).

The best hotel that provides value for money. Nestled amongst tall trees over the Pasumalai hillock, this place has a history. Surrounded by peacocks and green vegetation, with a rustic look. The restaurant offers good food across a number of cuisines.

This is a beautiful hotel on a hill top with great views and well spaced out quiet cottages. The staff are just so nice and friendly, they make the experience of staying here memorable each time. Its a great spot for a family vacation. The lovely views from all around the Hotel grounds of the Madurai town including the temple towers are a wonderful attraction for Photographers. There are beautiful peacocks wandering the grounds of this Hotel which is such an awesome sight! The Manager of this Hotel, Mr Vinpugal and his assistant Rajeshwari are very committed hosts and look after their guests really well.

I have not been insulted more. We were not let inside because "our profiles" weren't proper. We couldn't even get in. Worst hospitality.

Photos don't do justice to this amazing property. This place is situated on a hill overlooking Madurai with scenic viewers of the surroundings including the Meenakshi temple. It's a large estate with dense vegetation and pure air. Peacocks roam freely and are quite friendly. There are trails within the hotel to take leisurely walks. Plan an extra day just to enjoy the resort. The staff was very courteous and took care of every little thing with utmost enthusiasm. The restaurant has limited international menu items but do try the local cuisine. There are off-menu items like south Indian thali or elaneer payasam which are excellent — just ask the waiter for local delicacies that are not on the menu.

This is one of the finest destinations to stay at Madurai, Full panoramic view and commendable service.
