We had a blast and enjoyed our stay way back in 2011. We still talk about our trip to Madurai and our stay at Heritage Madurai Resort. It was indeed splendid. Thank you guys.

Great location to spend a vacation and great people who treat you so nicely.

Update: Immediately after posting the review I got a call from the general manager and he apologised for what happened. He was very friendly and listened to my issues. I wished I never spoke with Basha in the first place 😔. Review:
So many good experiences with Heritage were ruined by one person Basha. Called heritage resort Madurai to book for my sister's wedding during the pandemic. Firstly they quoted 750+ tax for breakfast and 1200+tax for lunch, which we have agreed and confirmed our booking.
Again they added 100rs at each meal for leaf serving, which we agreed. Then on top of this they quoted 50, 000 for hall, we were shocked at this point. We didn't have an option so we agreed to it as well.
During final booking, he increased hall charges to 100000. We had to drive there a couple of times and walk out cheated. Didn't expect such an attitude from a manager of a 5 star resort like Heritage. Manager name: Basha No matter what just avoid talking or negotiating with this Basha person he will drive you crazy.

Ofcourse there are many positives, right from the parking, ambience, pool, food everything. But the thing I liked the most is the staffs, especially those in the restaurant. Their smiles will be felt like an invitation for the next visit…

Awesome resort. The spa here is really good and the yoga session was also absolutely effective. The yoga instructor was one mr. Giftson. His teaching was very effective and clear. The food is good and the ambience of the resort was totally relaxing. The resort has a beautiful pool and our rooms also had private pool.

Great resort received fantastic service from the staff. Linda in spa was knowledgeable and very attentive.
Food was fabulous with unique taste breakfast and dinner.

It was a very nice stay with a beautiful room, the staff were all really friendly and kind. We attempted a yoga session which was really fun. We really recommend it, especially JP he is a wonderful men!

It's a great place to stay in the city. The hotel staff were so courteous and especially wanted to mention Porkodi mam who took great care of us during our stay.

The most unique experience. The villas are old schooled themed. Generous use of wood in the villa. Each villa has its own private swimming pool which is the biggest usp. The staff are extremely hospitable. Food is very tasty and waiter serving the food is so patient and tries to satisfy all your demands. bottom line : a place where even fastidious persons get satisfied.

Excellent ambience with the "cottages" being set amongst lush forest like setting. The low rise buildings with traditional architecture adds to a sense of living in a village. Spacious rooms. Very courteous staff with a smile on their faces at all times. Good food. An excellent choice to chill out while you take in the sights of Madurai.

Very good hotel to stay with family. It is look like a historical place. It has lot of trees and green field. It have a small and big function hall for meeting, roadshow for companies meeting. I feel it is the best place in madurai for a company function and parties. Well maintained surrounding and swimming pool. Neat and cleaned rooms. I think foreigner preferred this location.

The stay here is amazing. Everything from checking in to the rooms was exceptional considering the price. The rooms are spread across the property in 4 or 8 sets between the nature. The food is good too not too spicy not too blunt. Overall an amazing experience.

We stayed at this property for one night on our way to Rameshwaram. The moment we stepped out of our car at the resort, we fell in love with it. Great ambience, lovely lush green surroundings, beautiful temple style pool, very courteous staff, hassle free check in and check out, ample car parking, delicious breakfast spread. We stayed at Luxury villa which has a private pool. Great experience. My daughter had a fun time in the pool. They arranged for cab for our sightseeing. Also during check out, the bell boy helped us check and make sure that we have not left any of our things in the room. That was so kind of him. The attitude and hospitality of staff is noteworthy. I would definitely recommend this resort.

Excellent resort. Everything just perfect. A must stay resort in Madurai. I will definitely go back during my next visit to Madurai. A special thanks to Mr. Pari. Helped me to book a pool villa during the peak season and confirmed it instantly. Wonderful pool is a blast for kids. And buffet breakfast was just perfect.

Well located in the heart of the city, close proximity to the airport. Excellent aesthetics and ambiance. Well behaved staff and service provided was prompt. Overall very good.

This is undoubtedly one of the best hotels in Madurai city. This building is a legacy of the British and is carefully preserved. The rooms are all very good and priced to appeal to the higher segments. One striking feature is there is a lot of greenery inside the hotel premises! The swimming pool is something that should not be missed. The moment you spot the pool your eyes are going to go round in a bit of excitement and incredulity! The restaurant is a place full of culinary delight! It's the fried fish I like most here. It's mouth-watering even to think of it! The ambience everywhere around makes your stay here really worthwhile!

One of the few places in Madurai with great ambience. Food was good too… The chef was courteous and even offered to make for us any extra dish we wanted which was not on the buffet.

5 Star Hotel But we were given a 2 star room for both the interior (insufficient maintenance) and the location at the border with a factory that made noise even at night. However good restaurant.

Excellent. The best hotel in the Q me stayed. The place is beautiful, park and a lot of tranquility. Yoga classes in the morning and spa. The restaurant is so far where best we ate in India! It's worth knowing. We stayed in the pool Vila, room with private pool, amazing. The Wi-Fi sometimes did not work well. Otherwise, perfect.

Great Place for all your needs. Be it Leisure and Business, Conferencing facilities with 950 people theatre style sitting arrangement. Biggest pillar less hall in the City. Large MICE — events. Preferred by Corporates for its business ethos and professionalism. The staffs are courteous and caring. Food is great with wide varieties of Menu to choose and good selections of Alcoholic Beverages.

Ideally located. Five minutes away from the famous Meenakshi temple. The room is well appointed, clean and spacious. The food is excellent. The staff was courteous and helpful. Overall an excellent stay.

It is a good budget hotel with friendly, pleasing, sensitive and caring staff. I was late for check in and the hotel staff was kind enough to inquire with me about my arrival time. The restaurant serves good food and is priced reasonably. The travel desk was very helpful. Overall a good stay. Thanks.

One of the best hotel in madurai. Check in and check out was so quick. The room was spacious and clean. Hotel interior was classic. The food was delicious with a lot of options. Hotel staff were so humble, helpful and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay there.

A nice boutique hotel. I really liked the furnishing and art decorations of all premises. The hotel has the most friendly and carying staff I’ve experienced in India. The breakfast contains good selection of continental meals. The bathroom and linens were perfectly clean. The double-bed was huge and really comfy. I really loved the stay in this hotel.

Its One of the best hotels I have visited. Also rooms are spacious and have nice ambience. Can't forget to mention that in room Dining was one of the thing to relish. Good food, good stay overall very comfortable.

I booked a luxury villa with pool. At booking, the room showed 5 people (2 adults, 3 kids) for a significantly higher price. I still booked it — it was the most expensive room they had on the property. To my surprise, there was only one bed in the room — for 5 people! People smoked just outside our room — no point of showing natural beauty in the posted pictures! Website showed 24 hr, shuttle service from the hotel — Lie! I called the hotel from the airport — they asked for 1400 extra — unbelievable! Please do not go by the pictures. I would not recommend this property.

Beautiful place. Must visit. The villas are the best in class. Great amenities. The small pool in the backyard was a delight and a wonderful addition to a spacious room n restroom cum changing room. Food was delicious and the buffet is so vast at a reasonable price. The temple tank is just beautiful and so clean that one would like to stay in there to beat the heat. Once you check in there ia absolutely no need to step out unless needed.

Well, the private pool villa was absolutely fantastic! Very quick house keeping response! Good food! Yet we didn’t feel warm as all the staff were always busy serving a foreigner, and expecting tip from them! Somewhere paying equally high, we did deserve good service. And there was no hot water, they asked us to wait for 5mins as it was solar heater n stuff but failed to provide as basic as hot water! never the less, The security guard were too kind and the house keeping staff except the staff at reception! For the room, luxury, decent food I say 4!

A hotel that is rated luxury and we could qualify it as 3 stars, at least the standard rooms. The entrance to the hotel is really beautiful and the treatment exquisite. To go to the room they take you in stroller. The room is very spacious and nice but some furniture need to be refurbished. The bathroom is renovated and it is nice but they could have put a screen and not a curtain that does not make the water fill the entire floor of the bathroom. The dressing area is spacious but has very little room to support the suitcases. The entrance door is so old that you fear that anyone enters. If you open the bathroom window (which has opaque crystals) you find that outside is all full of rubbish. Very bad for that self-denominated grand luxury.

The property is very beautiful, and the amazing rooms with a large desk, a nice room, an inner courtyard with a basin, and a bathroom at the end. The charm, a lot of charm, except the quality of the very average restaurant, the music genre piano bar that runs at the bottom and in addition no air conditioning working. The room yes, but be careful not to be near the road like us.

Wonderful green environment and peaceful place to stay. Adorable villas with heritage style of tamil culture built. A plunge pool within to relax so cool. Good food and great service. One most biggest attraction here is the banyan trees that the management has preserved for us with its wide area to rest beneath and meditate. Any hotel industry items can be bought or made for attractions to compete in today's world but this banyan tree standing beyond time preserved here even though it covers wide areas of property makes heritage a wonderful remarkable place in world. I humbly bow with respect to them for respecting natural environment.

Hotel based on a campus design with buildings housing perhaps 8 rooms dotted around the gardens. Rooms spacious with a large large wet room. Grandeur is faded somewhat and there are aspects of the buildings that need refurbishment but the effect is overcome by the friendly, helpful staff.

I attended Pranic Healing Meditation workshop for two days. I didn't stay. The environment is nice. Full of Trees and Grass. Calm and clean. The energy is good like Ashram.

Awesome place… Very calm… Serene. Courteous staff. Food tastes great. This guest house was made by Britishers in 1924. Spread in 17 acres. Between the natural beauty. Neat and clean pool area. Spa facility. British architecture.

Good ambience. Friendly staff… Very quiet. Cozy. Good place for kids.

Hotel which at first seemed very quiet, but we got one of the rooms in the lower part, where there are some buildings that seem destined to weddings or something and goodbye tranquility. They took the outside of our room as a workshop to mount a structure for some event, apart from the noise coming from a contiguous building. A site penalty that looked tránquilo and it was not.

Good rooms. All amenities available with swimming pool. Room service is OK sorts n room service food is not great. Complimentary breakfast is good.

Beautiful property, the staff seemed to have a stiff upper lip (no smiles or gentle courtesies, too business like for my comfort). Great place for a relaxing break. The breakfast was an excellent, eclectic mix of India and continental.

120 year old heritage site. Simply fantastic ambience and interiors. The staff is courteous and very polite. Food that I had made with perfection in Mind. Very well balanced. Chettinad chicken and soup was mouthwatering. I had plain and that too was tasty. It's affordable though a bit pricey. They should sell replicas of the memorabilia that they display. Also the backyard Banyan tree (the name of the restaurant) is a visual delight for tree lovers. The atmosphere is nostalgic.

Travelled to Madurai to visit the famous Meenakshi temple with my parents, in Laws and family. So we had kids and elderly in our Group who all loved the resort. The plunge pool in the villa was nice and clean for kids to enjoy their time. The ambience is wonderful and the standards really good. The breakfast spread was large and had everything for us to start the day on a happy full stomach. All those who attended to us the restaurant were courteous and ever so helpful. Mr. Ravi Kumar was very accommodating and attended to our groups umpteen needs with a smile. All in all it was a wonderful stay. If we are again in these parts we would for sure stay there and also recommend it to our peers who are traveling to Madurai.

A gem in Madurai: wonderful setting in nature, elegant clean (! ) pool with sunbeds and towels. And super friendly staff which fulfills every wish you have. I enjoyed an afternoon with friends there and would ALWAYS like to come back. Paradise in Madurai.

What a JEWEL in Madurai. True to it's name classy heritage property. Set detail by detail in the real period style amidst the greenery. True getaway place to relax with a feeling of home. Good all round hospitality.

The right place to stay in Madurai.

Absolutely loved our stay here. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable. Good sleep quality. Beautiful property spread across 17 Acres lined with old Banyan trees. the food — Mind blowing, we had vegetarian food, and it was brilliant. I keep reserving that Biriyani is good only if it is Non-veg, but, I was prooved wrong here. Their veg biriyani and gravy was just excellent. the breakfast spread is fit for a king, western to local delicacies line the buffet, and it is just lip smacking. Totally worth they stay. Will try the plunge pool villa the next time.

The regular bathroom gets wet all over the floor with the shower. There are mosquitoes. All the staff are very attentive.

Unique ambience like nature resort in the midst of city. Can have lil more maintenance of sports, variety in buffet. I missed my favorite cakes and fruits.

Nice hotel take us to the old forts of kings and their dishes are too good and receptionist are good care taking agents helping mind and they are good especially miss ananthi. House keeping is good in other words diamonds are costly but gave some hand some look any way thanks for the helping mind of receptionist.

We stayed in a room with a private pool and it was amazing. Peaceful atmosphere with service oriented staff. Besides, if you don't want to eat Indian food, they have many other alternatives in the menu which was great for us.

We conducted our College Farewell in this place. Great place to Party… Courteous Staff made the necessary arrangements and also didn't Mind our yelling and shouting during party. Gave full Freedom. Great place to have fun with friends.

Heritance Madurai was a nice escape from the chaos and the heat of Madurai. The rooms are extremely big and comfortable. The staff is always there to help and to know if everything is ok. The pool is huge and wonderfull! 5 stars to the restaurant too.

During Jan 2014, I was in madurai for a short visit. I had to meet few of my business associates, was wondering where to take them and I really wanted a peaceful place to sit and talk. I was left with very few options and chose Heritage hotel. They had a beautiful coffee shop so we decided to sit there, our conversation was on full swing and we also ordered lot of starters and juices from the hotel, inspite of all these orders the GM asked us to leave the hotel and he said leave space for other guests. At first I was surprised by the way he reacted, I had to argue as this is a coffee shop and you cannot ask us not to talk or dont spend time here etc. He said this ia coffee shop and not your office. I was really surprised. Im just wondering how did the management hired such GM. So if you all go to coffee shop, just have ur coffee and leave the place so that u can save ur respect….

Pleasant, relaxed, luxurious place to stay. Way too many staff that get in each other's ways. Travel agency is expensive, look for alternative. Bar is like a black hole with grim old music. Musquitos are common. All that said: a really nice place. Pleasant and beautiful pool. Large rooms. Good service. Relaxed place. Great breakfast (did not use restaurant for other meals but seems quite OK). Thanks to Ganesh for his great care for My room (which included producing an elephant out of an old towel).

Very homely comfortable and can do stuff at your own relaxed pace. They should give more details on the temple trips to be taken. More brochures required on things to be done and seen in Madurai. Also about good eateries though the Hotel itself has excellent food. Thank you.
