Varkala Marine Palace Hotel

One of the best experiences Ive had for a restful holiday, hearing the waves crashing, beautiful garden setting and so close to the beach. The 'on the beach" shack restaurant cooked up very good fresh fish every night. Great staff and the owner is super cool. I can highly recommend Marine Palace…

We spent 33 nights at Marine Palace in Jan 2019. It is a great place to stay. The only resort on the beach that is close to the North and South Cliffs. Very kind staff and the Manager Bhasker is service minded and helpful. Many nice and interesting people come here, so we really enjoyed all interesting meetings with people from all over the world. We had a great time and can recommend anyone to stay here!

Came here for dinner once during my 10 days stay in Varkala and our experience was very disappointing. We ordered 2 Kerala specialty dishes, the mix veg aviyal and the spinach thoran, and they were both lukewarm and pretty bland in taste. Especially the aviyal had nothing to do with the same delicious dish I had tasted just the night before at another restaurant. Would not recommend.

Awesome place! Traditional style! Humble host. Bhaskar who owns the place is an extremely helpful and humble person. This property is probably the only one on the beach in varkala the rest are all on the cliff.

Was only in the restaurant. Great food. Perhaps the best in the area. Prices are cheaper than cliff E. Polite staff.

Unfortunately, the staff were not on the move. Everything took an eternity.

Very tasty soups. But Oochen long to wait. They were waiting for everything: food, check, change. As a result: 15 minutes of soup and 1:45 expectations.

Came here for lunch — after waiting 30 min Ive asked when is my food coming. The answer was thali is not possible today. Seriously the worse customer service in Varkala. Cannot rate food I have left for another place.

Food was amazing, there was a free theatre performance when we were there. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

Nice restaurant with seafood. Pleasant service. The hotel was not. But the hotel is more expensive than others. Location right on the beach.

Was here in February of 2017. We chose this restaurant pretty much due to its location right on the beach. Wow, what a find. They have a tandoori chef at the entrance, a must try. Everything we ordered was very well prepared. Choose your fish or seafood from the fisherman's tray out front each evening and then have it custom prepared to your taste. The Marine Palace: Awesome views, free Wi-Fi, great service.

Visited with family… great ambiance… ideal for families and for parties… love this place.

The food wasn't the freshest. Had a better experience in other restaurants in the area.

Location is good, but there's a chance of getting other resorts with good view if walks towards northern side of cliff. Rooms crossed my expectations. Liked it! Staffs are manageable.

Pros — Great location. Very cheap. Good food. Lots of dogs to play with Cons — No AC. Can get very humid and sweaty in summers. Lizards in room is a minus.

Lovely hotel on the beach. One of the only hotels in Varkala that is not on the cliff, yet is still very close and is directly on the beach. The owner and staff are very nice.

My daughter stayed at the Marine Palace 16 yrs ago and recommended that we stay there on our tour of South India. We were not disappointed a delightful beach location. Clean room with a sea view and very comfortable bed and lovely linen and towels. The restaurant served delicious meals and was a lovely place to sit and watch the beach volley ball and the fishermen bringing in fresh fish to be served. Staff were very friendly and helpful a credit to the hotel.
