It was an amazingly fun experience. They have an excellent chef and their cakes are awesome! Especially the chocolate truffle. Yummmm.

The staff in the houseboat was very friendly. They did their best to make sure our stay was comfortable. The houseboats themselves are old and need improvement as does the resort itself. It's a very small resort.

The resort had good offerings for the price they charge. The nearby area was also good.

This place is too good to have fun and nice scenery of back waters and the place itself. But when comes to lunch at the restaurant. Trust me it is really bad experience. Fish smells so bad … defenitly not cleaned properly and we ordered chicken currywhich are more hard and rubber. Not cooked well. And the bill is too high for the quality they provided. In my previous vacation to this place I never had such experience regarding food. Anyway if anyone want to have good time with drinks it is definetly a good place. But not for the food alone.

The resort is located on the backwaters of Punnamada lake in Alleppy town. It has exceptional views to offer from the cottages lined overlooking the calm waters of the lake. The cottage has traditional architecture and wood work transforms you to another world. Overall an excellent experience.

The resort is nice, but way over priced. Service is slow. Also, pool maintenance is an issue. The tiles at the pool bed were broken at several places, which actually cut my feet. They even charge for bed slippers, imagine! The staff is courteous. My room was a garden view room; however, the room opened to a narrow pathway beside the pool and the view was not of the garden, but the pool wall! Disappointed with the fiasco. Beef and crab wasn’t available, which is surely a negative for people who want to taste the authentic beef fry and crab curries. Overall, I would DEFINITELY not recommend this place; there are other resorts or houseboats that charge similar or less and provide a better deal.

Property location is good. Staff is polite and helping. Rooms are clean but pool and reception area are not… I stayed in their Heritage room. Overall it was a good & happy stay.

The resort is located amidst great scenic beauty. Sunrise and sunsets are beautiful. The restaurant serves excellent food at very reasonable rates. Layout of rooms could have been better. A great experience.

The Punnamada Backwater Resort is a very scenic resort located along a canal in India. The grounds are well cared for. It has beautiful trees and flowers. We arrived by boat to the sounds of Drumming and dancing. The Restaurant in open air with views of the canal. The food was delicious and plentiful, many Indian curries, rice, fruit, breads etc. Service was excellent. It is a very peaceful location especially for a special occasion.

Its is a heritage resort built on Alleppy Backwaters. Property is well kept. Ambience is good. Our welcome was so so, food was very ordinary. AC in room was good but there are mosquitoes everywhere. They offered us a complimentary boat ride through the. Backwaters, but made is wait for 1 and half hours. The boatman was busy taking foreigners in motorboat. Simply no coordination. I suggest travellers try some other better resorts unless you want to experience heritage hospitality and low quality service.

Very nice place. Lots of amenities and activities. Neat and clean. Heritage maintained. Courteous staff. Swimming pool (some tiles are broken at the mid) Billiards Table tennis Carrom Chess Badminton Cycling (some are punctured) Free family boat tour in backwater Kayaking Motor boat Big ground to play anything. Yoga and massage center We booked it at around 11k per night for heritage Villa in December.

It's an awesome resort with a very good view of the backwaters… There is a lot of tree cover for you to enjoy… There is a good swing, which can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. Their swimming pool is good. Of 5 feet depth, good for beginners. There is no changing room, which was quite surprising… I guess they expect people to change in their rooms and come to the pool! There is a shower next to the pool, which comes handy for a quick pre and post swimming shower. They serve south indian buffet for lunch. Food quality was decent… Sea food served was very fresh. They arranged for a cruise on the backwaters on a normal boat. A houseboat would have been good.

Reminds of our rich heritage and Grandpa's homes. Open bathroom, garden in hotel room, old style bed, furniture. Just next to the lake with no safety net. Have to be very careful with kids. My kid liked the playroom with snooker, table tennis etc. Only thing is approach road to the hotel is quite narrow and should avoid travel at night.

Definitely overpriced for what you get. The views are awesome of backwaters. On the flipside the guest service is a bit cold from what is expected for the star rating they have. Also expect some snakes crawling in the dull hours. I saw two. And a lizard in the bathroom. That was for the resort and guest rooms. Now it's a different story for the houseboats. They are awesome and get maximum buck for your money. I'd say just stay in houseboats and use all the resort facilities when they are docked in the evenings and mid mornings. This way you get best of both worlds.

I just love this place. Beautiful place, yummy food, friendly people, breathtaking views, well maintained facilities, clean water pool surrounded by tall big trees, quality room service, luxurious houseboat experience… Overall it was a memorable stay at Punnamada.

Cozy little place with everything. You might get confused seeing the roads leading to the place but once you are at the gate…, it's a whole new world. Excellent service, soothing ambience, friendly staff, blessed location, well appointed traditional and state of the art upgraded rooms and private cruises on houseboats… They have it all…

Beautiful resort with great people always at your service. Nice hotel by the lake. Very romantic location. Nice food selection. Clean toilets! Just a few points to note. The architecture is like true genetics style of the olden days hence the ledge is pretty high. Not very friendly for elderly. There is mosquito issue due to the nearby lake so bring along some mosquito repllent. Otherwise this is a beautiful place to be at for couples.

Amazing Ayurveda massages and center. Nice peaceful ambiance. The rooms were beautifully done up in a typical kerala fashion and had the quaintest outdoor shower facility. Unfortunately, the pool was not maintained well which was disappointing. Couldn't sleep all night as the bed was flimsy and constantly moving anytime someone moves. The best part of this place is the Ayurveda Center. Place needs to be better maintained.

Nice place to visit. Ideal for adults. Children would find it slightly boring unless they have company of other kids. An ideal 2 day relaxing getaway for adults.

It is a well maintained resort and I would definitely recommend it. The cottages are very neat and pretty, the property itself is really well maintained. They offer an evening backwater ride in a shikara, arrange a cultural program before dinner. They also provide other outdoor activities, you can call the resort and check with them. The food isn't great, but I am not complaining.

Our one night stay was too short. Beautiful place, fantastic staff, excellent rooms with stunning views of the ocean. Can't wait to go back!

I have stayed in this resort for the first time. My friend has recommended this beautiful resort as per their experience. This resort is 4km away from the hush of the town and it stands on the bank of the Punnamada Lake. We stayed in the Heritage Garden Villa and its exteriors are built in typical heritage style with Kerala traditional architecture.

Very scenic resort, ideally located on the Banks of Vembanad lake in Allappuzha. My wife and I spent 3 days on January 2016 at this resort. Ayurvedic massage and all meals were included. The lakeside rooms are spacious and have excellent view of the lake and House Boats that roam the lake. Vishnu and Leon at the reception were very friendly and helpful. The variety and quality of food in restaurant was excellent. Shiva, restaurant manager, made sure we well taken care of. The Ambience and the scenic facility is much better than Kumarakom, in my opinion.

It's the best in the area. Little ramshackled as there was a leaking pipe in our shower and room. Nothing major. Lake side rooms was great, comfy bed. Lunch by the lake edge and multi beers a winner. Pool was down while we were there, guy looking after it bailed for xmas apparently. So again this place a little rustic. Food didn't make me go wild, but so far it hasn't in Kerela so could just be me. Just went for a bike ride to all the other hotels to check them out, this is the most chilled. Only issue is can't make you a vodka tonic. No spirits on the menu. Family hotel, great location. Luxury houseboat was stunning. Saw 2 rats. But this is India. Is what I am telling myself. Ooh not ill from the food.

An unforgettable one night stay at the resort and an excellent service. I stayed at the lake view room at the resort which provided a amazing view of the lake and a sense of comfort. The room was very comfortable and the service was excellent. All the facilities were well maintained. The swimming pool is a must for a cool evening dip. From the welcome drink to the breakfast provided the morning before vacating was with perfection. Punnamada Resort is an excellent choice for a romantic and calm vacation and we would highly recommend it to all visiting Allapuzha.

Had a very comfortable & enjoyable experience during my stay on 1st Sept. Excellent service & great location. Stayed with my son & now planning to visit again with whole family. The staff went out of their way to make us feel at home.
