The Elgin Mount Pandim - Heritage Resort & Spa

The hotel is located inside the Pemayangtse monastery compound in peaceful surroundings with nothing but nature and the mountain mist around. We stayed.
3 nights at one of the deluxe cottages furthest from the restaurant and isolated from everyone. The only sounds were chirping of exotic birds. Meditation comes easy at such places and so does rejuvenation which we got. The only problem is climbing up the steep pathway to the restaurant which is at the lobby level. This difficulty impaired our ability to have dinner at the restaurant and we were forced to order room service. I’d strongly recommend that the hotel keeps a golf cart at the cottage level for people to reach the lobby level easily. In all other respects this hotel is awesome. We will come back for sure.

Visited the resort yesterday for lunch. No doubt that the property is just wonderful. Full marks for that. But the experience at the restaurant was most disappointing. Service was too slow (45 mins even to serve Soup). The taste of the food was so so. Worst was the amount of oil they put in the paneer dish we ordered, despite telling beforehand. The taste of the curd clearly indicated that it was repaired one (added sugar to cover up the sourness). We wanted to speak to the Chef, but they produced someone in dirty black dress, who definitely was not from the kitchen. Overall 2/5 stars for the restaurant service and food. 😒😒

Beautiful heritage property with stunning views and great ambience. The rooms and overall experience were lovely. Unfortunately, the food was a major disappointment. Despite clearly requesting less chilli and oil, the dishes arrived extremely spicy and greasy. Service was also quite slow. Even the dahi tasted stale and unpleasant. A wonderful property let down badly by the food experience.

Quiet, lovely stay in Pelling! Many pros, many cons — but overall I enjoyed the 3 nights stay at their Premium cottage but would not come back.
Pros — premium cottage is well furnished, modern and has lovely views from the spacious balconies. The OFRs in the rooms are great — they don’t suck the oxygen out of the air while heating! Dinner is excellent quality and has a wide spread. I liked their Indian and continental recipes. Almond soufflé was exceptionally good! The gardens are beautiful, full of butterflies and birds. The lounge area has a nice character (although feels somewhat crowded). Room service is quite fast considering that the cottages are a walk down from the main building. Location is very close to the monastery and palace ruins — walking distance to both.
Cons — Restaurant is severely understaffed and breakfast is chaotic. Table set up is incomplete — need to wait for napkins, water, salt etc. The coffee comes when breakfast has gone cold, Butter comes after the toast and paranthas have gone cold. I had to ask for everything twice. The staff does their best but they are understaffed and need more servers to manage the number of tables. In the rooms, There’s no conditioner provided as part of the toiletries and there’s no gift shop in the hotel to buy it from. The carpets in the room and lounge are not anti-slip. I slipped 4 times in my 4 day stay, even though I was careful. Also, they don’t have central water heating but individual geysers.

Staying at The Elgin Mount Pandim has been a truly memorable experience. The property beautifully combines old-world charm with breathtaking views, offering a peaceful and luxurious escape. The hospitality here feels genuine and personal.
A special mention to Suvasis, who crafted an excellent drink for us and is a genuinely warm and kind person—it really made our experience better. Also, Dil Kumar, the security guard who assisted with our room service, deserves appreciation for his helpful and attentive nature.
It’s the people here who truly make the stay exceptional. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind in elegance amidst nature.

Let me start with the one honest caveat: the roads to get here are genuinely brutal. By the time you arrive you’re mentally wrung out. But then you step onto the property and every winding pothole is instantly and completely forgiven.
We stayed in a cottage room which is about a 5 minute hike down from the main building. The walk can be tiring but it’s also just so beautiful. Think misty greens, cool air, total quiet. And the property sits right next to a monastery.
So there’s this calm that kind of just settles over you the whole time you’re there.
The food was exceptional across every meal, breakfast to dinner. The staff truly elevated the stay. Warm, genuinely kind and quietly accommodating in the way that only the best hospitality feels, effortless.
Only cons: the road to get here and the cottage walk if you’re carrying luggage. Everything else was pretty much perfect.
Would absolutely go back. 🌿

We spent four wonderful nights at Elgin Pelling, and every moment was truly special. We absolutely loved the ambience—peaceful, elegant, and deeply calming. The staff was always warm, welcoming, and ready to help, and the manager was especially very helpful, making our stay even more comfortable.
The food was delicious and freshly prepared, adding to the overall experience. We had stayed at their Darjeeling property earlier, and once again, Elgin did not disappoint.
The view from my window was simply out of this world. It felt as though I was closer to heaven. Waking up to Kanchenjunga right outside my window was pure magic.
I would highly recommend Elgin Pelling to anyone looking for a quiet, soulful vacation to truly calm the mind and reconnect with nature.

A stunning Hotel with brilliant views of Kanchenjunga and all the modern amenities. The food is the only weak point both the breakfast spread and the other meals had very limited options and the food taste wasn't too good.

Fantastic as always. This was my third time here and it was magical, yet again. Even without Mount Kanchenjunga revealing herself, it was well worth it. The lovely, peaceful ambience and views of the surrounding valley make this place special.

Wow is the word to express the experience. One of the best located heritage hotel overlooking the entire kunchunchunga range. Beautiful rooms, clean linen, towels and bathrooms. Room had a fire place as well to enjoy the old world charm.
The hotel has beautifully decorated, landscaped gardens where our can laze around for hours and enjoy the nature, jungle all around with a variety of birds chirping excitedly.
They have a classy reception area with a bar where one can sit and have a relaxed drink. The bar is well equipped and a great bartender who makes exciting cocktails.
With an experience. Only negative being are the horrible and narrow approach road.

I recently stayed at the Elgin Pelling Hotel, and while the property boasts a truly stunning location, my overall experience was far from satisfactory. The natural beauty surrounding the hotel is undeniably its strongest asset, but unfortunately, the facilities and upkeep left much to be desired.
Rooms.
The room I was allocated was disappointing from the start. It carried a smelly, smoky odor that made it uncomfortable to stay in. Adding to the unpleasantness, the washroom loft had been used to store a quilt from a previous guest, which felt unhygienic and careless. The washroom itself was poorly maintained, with fungus visible on the side walls—something that should never be overlooked in a hotel of this standard.
The locks on the doors were age-old and difficult to manage. There was no guidance provided on how to properly close them with the keys, which made the experience frustrating and insecure. For a guest, basic functionality and safety should be non-negotiable, yet here it felt compromised.
Facilities.
Another major inconvenience was the location of the executive rooms. They are situated about 150 meters away from the reception, requiring a steep climb every time one needs to access breakfast or food services. This design makes it particularly challenging for guests who may not be physically fit or who simply expect easier access to essential amenities. A hotel should prioritize guest comfort, but this arrangement felt unnecessarily taxing.
Service & Guidance.

We were in Sikkim to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. The ride to Pelling from Bagdogra was quite tiring due to the bad roads. But the moment we reached Elgin, all our woes vanished.
Right from the welcome drink to every moment during dining and the stay, the staff was warm, with excellent etiquette and paid attention to detail to make us comfortable.
We woke up to the breathtaking view of Kanchenjunga right from our bed. Watching it's changing hues as the sun rose. My husband and I are birders and the property was bustling with so many exotic species of Himalayan birds that we added atleast 20-30 new ones to our list.
The property itself is so beautifully maintained with antique Royal Sikkim and English furniture and artifacts.
The food was simple, comforting and delicious with a balanced combination of buffet cum made to order dishes.
The nearby ancient Monastry and the Rabhdanse ruins further added to the enriching experience of history and culture.
Overall, our stay at Elgin was a complete package of all one can wish for on a special vacation 💗

The best experience ever with mind blowing view from the room. No doubt the hospitality is very good. Especially Alies & Sital took care of us very well. Must visit again property.

Vibe is good with the view of kanchanjangha mountain. Having very blissful view in the morning. Ambience of the property is good with proper cleanliness.
Welcoming was heartwarming and staff is very polite, and supportive. Specially, Alies, Sukhanyma, Sital were very good and humble. Loved the services provided by them.

The rooms and views are nice, but the staff and the service is pathetic.
Buffet has limited options, all options will be empty and when we ask to refill it takes 15/20 mins. The housekeeping service is not available after 4.00pm. The staff is extremely rude.
The rooms are far away without any buggy service.

Top floor right hand side room nothing has view and shady and even curtains are broke and stained. Its not worth the money. Rooms service is moderate. Food taste is good.
