Oh! My all time favourite hotel in Varanasi. I have stayed at this hotel so many times. Just a magnificent place at Varanasi. Whenever I think of staying at Varanasi I think Hotel Alka! Just because of its beautiful ambiance, lovely rooms, most obedient staff & delicious food will obviously attract you no doubt! Since last 5 to 6 years it’s my only stay at Varanasi.

Nice location but pathetic stairs and room service. We escaped out of here in middle of night of check-in day, just to get trapped into worse Ramada Varanasi.

Just gone to the restaurant, but the service was so nice that I had to leave a review. The open air restaurant is a very relaxing place with good food, drinks and internet. Plus it is overlooking the river and thus has a gorgeous view!

I have stayed here for two days. My stay was very comfortable. Staffs particularly Suresh was very helpful and supporting. He helped me a lot about places in Varanashi to visit and main attractions. Plus restaurant is very nice and food was amazing. I will surely stay here again if happen to be in Varanasi. I highly recommend this hotel for cleanliness, staff behavior, food and proximity to ghats and temple.

Awesome place to stay in varanasi on the bank of river ganga… food quality were also great… homely stay feeling. Perfect place.

Very nice hotel with great views of the Ganges River. Be aware that no taxi or tuktuk will get you right to the hotel, you need to walk about 10 min. But it is the same situation with any other hotel along the river.

Great location but only reachable on foot. You can request a porterage service from where the cars arrive to the hotel. Cheap prices at the bar and decent food. The beauty and size of the rooms is very variable. You have to be lucky.

Good location. Right on the Ghatah. From the common balcony you can see the ceremony of fiery Pundzhi Aarti. Hard to find. Ask for local, and better use the services Pomogajki)

Great location by the Ganges. Lovely breakfast place. Services can suck unless you show you are upset. ;) Amazing place to observe morning sunrise across the Ganges. Look for bedsheets without holes. If they still have, let me know.

Clean and well maintained old hotel. Good for backpackers. Note however that the hotel cannot be reached by taxi's or tuktuk's. The last 10 minutes you have to navigate the narrow streets of the old town on foot. Arranging pickup may be advisable if you are uncomfortable with this. The location is amazing though, so it's well worth it.

The staff was very friendly and deprorable. Too expensive for what it offers. Some rooms are nice but others are a pigsty.

Very good hotel, not expensive. Rooms are just little bit narrow, but everything is ok. Also restaurant between is quite good and clean. If you go to varanasi, you will be satisfied of alka hotel.

The Mac & Cheese here is very good. Pizza here is also good and feels like homemade. Beer is available. And the open place gives a good view of river Ganges.

Excellent place stay. Very helpful staff, delicious food and peaceful environment with great view. We had the Ayurvedic spa and massage — the masseuse was Anju and she was really excellent. My friend was cured of her inability to smell with the massage and steam bath. Thank you.

Excellent location in the ghats of the river Ganges. It's Not very clean though they're all the same. It'S cheap.

Alka is awesome. So glad we chose to stay at a less luxurious hotel for all the benefits of being right in the middle of this amazing place! We also ate exclusively at Alka and found their menu varied and fairly priced, as were the beers. Hotel organised a very cheap rowed boat ride which we loved, and they also organised taxis from/to trains for us which was really helpful. Manu was most helpful, loved by our children, and really makes the stay an easy one. Can't recommend this place highly enough. Make sure you book the premier rooms with views of the river… they're outstanding!

Service was very excellent and servers were kind, the hotel's room service was really great. It was beautiful-peaceful and relaxing. We will be back for sure. Thanks so much for making our stay so special!

Good hotel. Near to Biswanath temple. But deep inside from main road. Have to walk with your luggage.

Very good river view. Restaurant is a nice option for vegetarians. Prices of taxi services and city tours provided by the hotel might seem steep compared to other local taxi companies. Rooms are satisfactorily clean!

Got there for a drink. Nice view on the Gange. Good Wi-Fi.

The location is quite good. You get to see the full view of river Ganga and all the ghats from this hotel. Food is great and I loved my stay here. I would definitely visit this location again on my next trip to Banaras…

Best located Hotel at Varanasi. Staff are cordial, specially Munnaji, who helped us to view the gorgeous Saptarshi arti at Kashi Vishwanath temple.

I was staying at this hotel. I can feel the heavenly bliss here. It is right next to the Ganges. It is situated next to the Meer Ghat. To start with the staff is very nice and friendly. The hotel houses a restaurant which is pure vegetarian. The rooms are nice and cosy. The tour adviser, Mr Munna is a very efficient man. He made every effort to make our trip to Varanasi quite unforgettable. Put together we had a wonderful journey. I hope I will return to Varanasi again. The following picture is the view from our room.

One of the best hotels in Varanasi. Best location, great views, clean environment, nice food and ever helpful tour manager Munna Ji. The presence of Munna Ji adds a value to the stay in the hotel which can't be measured in money. The hotel is extremely close to Dasaswamedh ghat and Kashi Vishwanath temple. It is situated right on Meer Ghat… So Ganges view is terrific and the ghat is very clean because it's maintained by the hotel. The best room in my opinion is Room no. 134 which is a premium view room with a private balcony on three sides. The hotel management was so cooperative that on the day we checked out, the train was 5 hours late, … and they alloted a basic room free of cost for 8 hours. I could give them more than 5 stars of I could.

Had good times here. View of Ganges and arthi from balcony are best. Food not bad. One need to walk to reach this hotel or best is to take a boat to reach this hotel on spot.

Alka Hotel is situated exactly on the bank of the Holy river Ganges adjacent to the famouus ancient ghats of Varanasi, Kasi Viswanath temple is within 5 minute walking distance from the Hotel. One can have an amazing view of the famous ghats, Holy men in saffron robe taking dips in Ganges, puffing marijuana, people enjoying boat rides on the river etc from the balcony of the hotel. Room rates are reasonable, clean, good food quality, staffs are very cooperative and friendly and kudos to Mukesh Ji for his extraordinary managing qualities.

Alka Hotel on Meerghat Varanasi is situated very near to the Viswanath Temple. Overlooking the Ganga it is well lighted and clean. The river is visible from almost all sides. Staff very cordial and efficient. Special darshan of the Lord Bholenath is arranged by MUNNAJI… and he has solutions for everything on his finger tip. Food is fresh and palatable. Rooms clean and well maintained. Overall our stay at Alka was a pleasant experience.

Good position for the excellent view of Holy River. The food also great and feel safe for your dinning. However, the hotel should improve the staff training. When I want to change some small bill (500rp only), the staff in the front desk reject my request, when I told him I was guest of the hotel, he just said 'so what can you do on me? ' It was really crazy. And the room, there were plenty of bugs jumping on my beds, so disgusting. The price was not cheap at all, so the service should do much better. Overall still worth to stay.

If you plan to visit Varanasi… Alka is the place to stay! Munna is the best manager and he will guide you through all needs and make your trip successful! Great staff, ganga view and clean space! Loved every minute of our stay! Highly recommend this place to stay and experience Varanasi!

This Hotel is by far the best hotel I've seen in Varanasi. Great balcony view with steps away to the ghats and nightly aarti. Service is very professional and friendly and I'd definitely come back again!

The moment you step in its courtyard you will fall in love with this wonderful place. Excellent location just above the popular Ganga ghats is the USP of this place.

Big, pleasant hotel with budget and mid-range rooms, in a fantastic location, right in the centre of the old city and facing out over the ghats. The upper rooms must have great views. I took a budget room on a lower corridor — I later realised that that level of the hotel is submerged in the Ganges during the monsoon and had just recently been pumped out and repainted. It was still a little damp, though comfortable enough.

Its a very good place to stay. The staffs are very good and cooperative. The rooms are well maintained and the most important thing is, its very close to Kashi Vishwanath temple. Dashasameth Ghat is very close, so attending evening aarti is no issue. And yes they have a very good restraunt. True value for money.

The hotel being bang on top of the river offers a great view, however reaching the hotel is slightly problematic. Access is through narrow lanes which can become unsafe during night especially if the power goes off. Room in which I stayed was very good with but is costly, the cheaper rooms are not so good and looks like any other lower budget hotel rooms. Food in the hotel is ok, they will cook whatever you ask for but the taste is not so great. Staff helpful but not so courteous.

Amazing views over the Ganges and fantastic location.

I was staying in alka hotel for three night. Alka is very good lokation. Staff was very fraindly. Evey thing is very good.

They have a very nice views of Ganga River just from the terrace but after a few weeks travelling around India I found that they really overcharge for very basic rooms. The room was quite small and there was no toilet paper and soap. Also, they do not provide with the whole set of bedsheets. TV did not work. Restaurant is OK. Please, do not accept tours organised by the hotel, just walk around the riverside and prepare your own private tour, much nicer.
