An out of the world, magnificent property. Someone looking for solitude with beauty of hills & lake around should definitely head to this place. 17 rooms, well stocked bar & delicious food. One can't ask for more.

We visited this resort in a group of 8 comprising of 4 adults, 2 teens and 2 kids for a lunch meal in June 2018… The weather was perfect and we loved the broad view of the lake from the dining area. The food was good and the service prompt. The Washrooms in the common area were also clean. There is a cover charge of Rs 700 for adults and Rs 500 for non adults that is adjusted in the total bill. No cover charge for small kids. Overall, it was quiet refreshing as none of the resorts in the area are even close to this property in terms of ambience and views.

The Overall stay at RI Kynjai was very good. We stayed in 2 rooms (one without the lake facing view and other was the cottage). The rooms were huge and spacious keeping the aesthetics of the hotel and also very luxurious. We had 1 year old baby and considering that, the room was baby friendly (not the cottage as there was a fireplace). Service was also good and the view from the balcony will make it worthwhile. We loved relaxing in the jacuzzi and the nature's trail will also fetch you good photos (nature lovers). The whole property alone had good photo friendly ambience. The downsides are the 2 km broken road leading to it and the rooms are a bit pricey. The hotel location is remote and away from the city hustle bustle (which turned out to be a boon since there was curfew and riots going on in the main city but we were unaffected) and recommended for those who would like to relax in their vacation and enjoy some greenery and lake side view.

Situated about 20KMs away from Shillong city, To Kynjai is a beautiful place to be at with fantastic rooms and amenities. The staff is very helpful and enthusiastic. The food is good. The location is brilliant and the view from practically any room is serene.

Ri Kinjay have great location beside Umiam Lake. Rooms are big and have very traditional interior. Bathrooms have walk-in closets and both shower and bathtub. Courteous staff, good food, full green surroundings beautifully maintained Garden. Spa is also available here. Outdoor games grounds like badminton and cricket. Natural track leading to Umiam Lake. Great place to relax and have great time with nature, family and friends (We were group of 20)

Horrible experience. First, the location is pretty much remote from the highway. Secondly, the road leading up from the highway to the resort is in a terrible condition. Thirdly, the staff is pretty rude.

Very nice venture, artistic exterior and interior. Exclusive view of Lake and hills, Indian food we tried was so good but the dessert Mousse was not upto the mark, didn't expect such below standard dessert in such a cozy place. Restroom of restaurant was not well maintained. It would be a great place for couple and family who loves serenity.

If you love the Nature do visit with your dear ones in your lifetime. Cottage stay, umian lake view.

The road leading to the resort is in dying condition. The resort is very well built and decorated. But the food is expensive. They have a cover price of ₹700 per person on food bill. It's worth only if sponsored by some other source.

Beautiful, secluded location — comfortable and luxurious rooms. The view is always breathtaking. The property is rustic and interesting to explore, the lake being just a few hundred metres from the gate and easily accessible. The only slight hitch is the food — with a limited breakfast buffet and an unreliable menu selection for lunch and dinner.

Location location location. For most businesses, location is the most important driver of success and Ri Kynjai really has that nailed down. About 30-45 minutes from Shillong or about 2.5-3 hours from Guwahati airport, the hotel is located next to a serene lake, deep in a forest environment. Other than the guests living there, you won't find any other noises bothering you out here. The food is meh but everything else, including the décor and fantastic use of cushions, really makes up for that lack. My one quibble was that it was just far too noisy if there were any children running around in the hotel — the sound design just doesn't seem to be very good in this hotel. You come here to get away from these distractions, not get further embroiled within them.

Beautiful hotel, one of the best I've stayed in, tastefully decorated. Stunning views at sunrise from the cabin balcony. Very well decorated room, log cabin style and homely. We enjoyed the restaurant, good service and very tasty selection of food and drinks available. Would not hesitate to recommend, and keen to return in the future.

Lovely rooms with a fantastic view of the lake. Grab a hot cup of coffee or a chilled beer depending on the time of the year and just chill in the balcony facing the lake. My idea of a relaxed holiday!

Very lovely place. Just behind Umium tourist complex. The decor outside & inside gives one the feel of the ethnic theme created. Quite costly stay here.

Beautiful setting. Very polite staff. Lovely lake view rooms with balcony. 45 acre property with forested trails for walking. Fishing arrangements for lakeside. And several interesting day trips arranged by Resort.

Serenity by the lake is an apt name. A wonderful resort located just outside of Shillong city. A must visit place for someone looking to get away from the everyday noise, bustle and stress!

Among the finest resorts in barapani. You'll be amazed by it's location with wonderful viewpoints, and it's backed by a very good quality restaurant and bar. Overall a place worth a visit.

This is an outstanding boutique resort. Superb location in the hills overlooking the lake, well maintained large outdoor area, very well architected wooden structure tastefully done with lots of woodwork and a fine eye for details, helpful and courteous staff, and large rooms built for comfort and elegant living.

Absolutely fantastic. In every way! Right from the location to the rooms which make most of the direct, uninterrupted views of Umiam Lake. Service is warm, personal and consistent. Food is always fresh and flavourful (though limited in variety if your stay will exceed 3 days). Overall, Ri Kynjai is a haven in an already gorgeous part of the country. A must visit in any season.

At the outset, I would advise that the UCC road that leads to the hotel should be properly built. The condition of the road is pathetic to say the least and fully broken and full of big potholes. Given the road conditions only first timers will visit and people will think twice before visiting again. You should be more tourists friendly. You are not visiting a forbidden palace. Gate remains closed all the time. Gate keeper says he will have to check first if there is food in the restaurant and he won’t allow us in. He also informs there is cover charge. If that’s the case please make it a exclusive club like Gymkhana only open to the members. If you want develop Meghalaya a tourist friendly destination then you have to have excellent road and your people have to be tourists friendly first.

My parents visited RI Kynjai, for the first time, with lot of expectation, over a buffet lunch. But it was the most horrible lunch they had ever attempted before. The price was excessively high in comparison to the quality, quantity and variety of the food, served. Sorry to update, they came back almost starved. Service at the restaurant was also very poor. Please improve. RI Kynjai is almost a brand name and we expect a better experience in the future. Good luck!

If looking for relaxing n calm momemts with natural beauty, Ri Kynjai should be on your Must Visit list while in Shillong. They charge Rs 700 per guest/Rs 500 for a child as Cover Charges which get adjusted in Restraunt n Bar bill. Nice service n good food.

Fabulous views, Excellent service. We loved the food and it is definitely reasonable. Staff are really helpful in guiding us for places to visit and arranging transportation. This is a place to get disconnected and relax. Reason to go to shillong.

Aah this place is heaven. The view the decor the entrance everything. This is just perfect. Looking for that perfect getaway you need to rush here. Not very far from guwahati this will give everything you can ask for. The food, the service the rooms everything is just perfect about this place. The rates of the rooms start from Rs. 9000.

Everything is excellent. Spacious rooms, awesome views from the room, green, serene. The Property is slightly away from the city, but this by no way is a con, as it is far away from the maddening crowd of the city. It may take around 45 minutes to reach from the Shillong city depending upon the traffic, people should plan accordingly. Best thing about the is the awesome lakeside view that if offers, and a sort of private access to the lake. The approach road to the is full of potholes, but I am not complaining about that. The Breakfast buffet was excellent. Regular menu might not have much options for the vegetarians, but still it has all the basic things to keep you happy and satisfied. Fully recommended to those who can afford it. Sample the pictures submitted by me to appreciate the serenity and beauty of the place. PS: all the lake view pictures are from within the hotel property.

Its a beautiful resort. Food is excellent. The resort staff is very friendly and helpful. Over all I would give them full marks for hospitality. Its perfect for a weekend getaway from Kolkata and I am sure you will return rejuvenated from here. Absence of indoor activities and gym is the only reason its a 4/5. With a temperature controlled pool and an indoor activity room would make this place just perfect. Nevertheless its still a place that u shouldn't miss.

“"Spellbinding Shillong"” If you are visiting Shillong you must stay here … a lovely abode very rightly a " serenity by the lake" Well done large spacious rooms. Decent food and good service. If you want to be close to the nature and relax and rejuvenate yourself… this is a place to be.

Awesome serene beauty everywhere… quiet but elegant… service is bit slow but otherwise ok… the view of Barapani (Umiam) lake is the best from this place.

Lovely place. Enjoyed the stay there. Good food. I would have given 5 stars but breakfast was not so good. Same menu everyday and slow service.
