Front desk and cafe staff are great!

Staff at the reception were very helpful, sorting out bus pickups and extra stay.

So far we are pleased with the service at reception. The room which we ungraded to have amazing views of the sea and mountains behind.

Good basic hotel with friendly staff and a decent breakfast. Standard rooms are very small and you might struggle for a long stay but they are clean, warm and with comfortable beds. Town centre is a decent walk away but doable and there is a lovely walk along the side of the sea to get there.

Very tiny rooms with basic facilities but beds are great, TV in rooms and rooms serviced each day. Rooms best suited for single occupancy as no room for luggage. Breakfast is simple, no USA style buffet.

The hotel is nice but the staff are awful. The two women behind the counter act like every question is an inconvenience. We had to check in multiple nights for our excursion to see if it was still going and every time we did she would hold up the sign to our face (which is super hard to see) and so "ok you go now".
The trip concierge was also rude. He told me that I was lazy because my husband and I took a cab back to the hotel from Perlan instead of walking.

Hotel Cabin was amazing from start to finish! We arrived early on Iceland air and due to availability they allowed us to check in early! We were able to get a few hour nap before heading into the city! The rooms are great! They are not too small for the double beds! The heating element in the bathrooms to dry your socks, towels and clothes was amazing! The staff was great from the front desk to the bar to the restaurant for breakfast! Room temperature was very comfortable and the windows open allowing fresh air which was enjoyable! The check in and check out was A+++ and super easy! This hotel is in a great location allowing it to be first pick up on a lot of our guided tours! Very happy with our stay and I would stay here again! Thank you!

The superior rooms are great, the normal are really small. Breakfast is poor, less choice and watery juice. The saladbuffet for diner is great.

I really don't recommend this hotel. Too small rooms, poor breakfasts (all week the same menu). Unfriendly staff.

VERY SMALL rooms, unfrendly staff (making problem with everything), dirty rooms, no hair dryer, extra 10£ for kettle with tea (! ) if you want visit Iceland just book another hotel. Definetly dont choose cabin hotel.

Very small rooms, hardly any storage. Very small hanging space. Not suitable for a longer stay. Also hotel quiet a walk out of the main town. Good points breakfast included staff helpful.

The location is great, working walking distance of anything you'll need, including bus stops, restaurants, and placed to visit. Any bus or shuttle will pick you up from the hotel to take you where you need to go. The rooms are a little small, but they're quiet and comfortable and have everything you need in them. The breakfast buffet is good and has a decent variety.

Great location. Room small but clean and fresh. Breakfast plentiful in a clean and roomy dining room. Came back from a day tour to find wine, chocolate and a lovely card in my room from the hotel staff as it was my birthday. What a lovely gesture! Nothing negative to say about the cabin hotel and their friendly, helpful staff.

It was a small room but very clean. It had all I needed and was very comfortable. I also like that there was a bathroom in it. The breakfast was included and it was abundant and pretty good. The best part was the staff. My wife and I had issues with a car when we first started. They were very helpful in assisting us to find a quick resolution.

Great value! A room with a private bathroom and breakfast included can get expensive in Reykjavik. The room was clean and everything functioned properly. It was compact but could fit 1 to 2 people and luggage (that fits nicely under the bed. ) There was a TV, but only 2 English speaking channels, BBC and Film4, there was also a sports channel and an Icelandic news channel. The lobby included a bar and an office where you can book tours and get your info. There were some items for purchase, souvenirs and deli sandwiches. The breakfast was sufficient: cereal, porridge, hard boiled egg, ham, cheese, bread, yogurt and jams, apple juice and orange juice. They also serve lunch and dinner there for a fee.

I cannot complain a lot. The pricing for island included breakfast seemed okay. The room was okay — can‘t complain about bathroom or size of the room. It looks like an older building. What was really confusing there was actually no hair dryer. The hotel is pretty close to city centre and the staff was super nice and helpful!

Given that hotels across Iceland are pretty pricey, this place is technically on the "budget" end. That being said, you don't get much for €128 a night (mid July). Our room was exactly big enough to fit two twin beds side by side and nothing more. It did have its own in room bathroom which many other budget places don't always have around Iceland. It was comfortable enough, the room was clean, the water pressure in the shower was pretty great (but also not very big — don't drop your soap, you probably won't have room to bend over and pick it up). Breakfast was included which is a big plus considering how expensive food is. There was enough parking and it was included. A bit of a walk into the city centre (about 20 minutes). Overall it was good enough and served its purpose. Can't complain too much. Sorry for the blurry photo.

We had a double room and that was quite small but you are not there to stay in the room. However, pipes ran in the wall, so the bed heated up well. Breakfast was too monotonous, in my opinion. There was ham, ham, salami, cheese and yoghurt. But is a matter of view. But lay close to the promenade, so you could get everywhere well and quickly. And the rooms were cleaned daily.

Tiny rooms!, very medium standard, got our rooms in a nice package price with flight tickets. Overall not bad, for the right price I would stay here again for a short stay.

Rooms very small and somewhat cold. There's no room to open the suitcases. Right Hotel just to spend a night to sleep and that's it.

The beds are fairly comfy but the rooms are tiny, the wardrobe is as big as two legs and you can barely fit in the shower. The food is awful, pretty much zero selection and the melon is the only edible thing. Very disappointed and would never come again.

Rooms are too small, ideal if you are looking for bed and breakfast. Buffet up to 10 am. Very good location if you are going to visit the center of Reikiavyk.

A clean pleasant hotel to stay at – we stayed here for a week and were picked up by the respective providers right outside the door to our excursions. So this place has been great for us.
The hotel is clean and technically maintained. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
The rooms are OK to stay.
The breakfast was optimized for the predominantly American and Canadian guests and in our week everything was identical without variety.
In the sum OK to classify well.

Our room (superior) was large enough for 2 adults and a child. There were new towels every day and the room was Cleaned. The check in went smoothly. The breakfast was so tired, but it quickly became boring as there was always the same thing. The staff were always friendly and helpful.

Was OK. Nothing fancy. The breakfast was alright, same spread everyday. Late check in time but you can leave your luggage and go our for the morning. Had to ask for an extra pillow as they are to soft. Was a bit of a walk into town would want a hotel more centrally located.

Nice hotel. About a 20 min walk from downtown Reykjavik, we walked downtown almost every night to get grub. There are also restaurants closer by (10 min walk ish) that are really good. It's also far enough from the downtown scene that it gets pretty quiet at night. Free breakfast was okay, but it's free and the selection is decent.

Shaft was extremely helpful in finding local hot spots for food Etc. General appearance of the hotel was excellent newer Hotel, never runs out of hot water which is excellent. Continental breakfast has some room for improvement not much, can mix things up to improve. Enjoyable stay would definitely go back!

Of the worst hotels I have had the misfortune of staying, tiny room, to the bathroom can hardly enter and the cleanliness left much to be desired. As if that weren't enough, it's located away from the center of Reykjavik.

Comfy room. Was in superior room. Free Wi-Fi throughout. Breakfast was okay. But don't expect your traditional continental breakfast as that is not is what is served here. Great place to stay overall and really close to the swimming pool and hot springs.

Superior Room was nice. Breakfast was good and but simple. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Good value for money. The breakfasts are plentiful and the buffet is very varied. A bit far from the center without a car.

Clean but very basic in amenities. Food and beverage very limited. Staff nice. Ok location to downtown area/ museums. 25 min walk or so. Bus line right outside door if you prefer.

This hotel is functional and in a good location to use as a base as a budget hotel and it met the standard I expected for that, however the noise levels are not at all comfortable in the standard rooms. The walls are wafer thin, the cleaners sound like they are going to come through the walls when you are trying to sleep and you can hear conversations and movement from adjoining rooms like they are in the room with you. We tried to sleep in the afternoon after a long night watching the Northern lights and it was next to impossible due to loud bangs and door slams. Ear plugs is a must if you choose to stay here.

The room was very small but the location was good.

The rooms are very small and very clean. Food is ok but the choice at breakfast is not very big. The location for exploring Reykjavik is quite good and easy to walk.

Just arrived back home after a 5 day stay and we have really enjoyed it, our room was on the 6th floor overlooking the bay and the mountains. The room was comfortable and the shower was fantastic. The staff at Hotel Cabin are friendly and very helpful, you couldn't ask for nicer people. They gave us good advice about how to get round the city and what to see. The guy in the gift shop was helpful booking us onto tours and rebooking our northern lights tour. Breakfast is a cold buffet with plenty of choice and the staff make sure it is kept replenished. I had porridge most mornings which I can recommend.
We ate out most nights which is expensive, on our 4th day we had our evening meal on site and it was lovely, well worth a visit.

The front desk staff was extremely helpfully and friendly. I really enjoyed my stay here. The only thing I found odd about our stay here was that the two twin beds were directly next to each other… If we had wanted to share a bed, we would have just booked a queen sized bed… but breakfast was good, location wasn't too far from the city center, and the overall accommodations were satisfactory.

Included in a room is a free (cold) buffet breakfast which starts serving very early in the morning, which is helpful if you have an early starting tour or flight out. The hotel offers an evening meal (hot and cold buffet), but having tried it I think you would find nicer food if you go out into town. Hotel cabin is located very close to the waterfront of the city, but not on it. I just wish I were smaller to enjoy more the cozy but tiny rooms and beds LOL. Nonetheless, I loved my stay last December.

The location of the hotel is great, quite close to the city centre. Also the breakfast buffet was well balanced, there was a large selection. At the reception is also 24 hours a day someone, which has greatly simplified the check-out.

Good location. Walking distance to all the bars and restaurants. Friendly helpful staff. And the room as surprisingly more comfortable and spacious than I had expected after reading other reviews on TripAdvisor, although we did have a deluxe room.

Superior rooms very nice with view a good budget hotel. Book rather superior rooms the standard rooms being really cabin like very small. I stayed at Hotel Cabin from December 5th-12th. From the United States and have some experience traveling abroad. Our stay here was Great! We stayed in a deluxe room, 2nd floor, and faced the ocean and Mt. Esja. Staff were helpful, great at directions, recommendations didn't disappoint, and the tour booking guide guy was knowledge and eager to help. Daily breakfast was quite the spread, it didn't really differ day to day but there was a lot of options. Here is what I can rem…ember: cold cut meats and multiple cheeses, fish, hard boiled eggs, cucumbers, sweet peppers, tomatoes, melon, oranges, crossaints, at least 5 types of bread (there was a toaster you could use), peanut butter, 2-3 jellies, honey, hot oatmeal, small yogurt bar and could mix in fruit or dry oats, 2-3 dry cereals, milk, water, juice and coffee. Restaurant at the hotel was buffet style and there is something for everyone at it. Cost was mid range for Iceland, about 20$ USD. Which was handy if you get back late from explorering remote country side and don't want to go out to downtown. There was even a decent sized bar, friendly bartender, inside which was great to drink at and meet people from all over the world. Beer on tap is Gull, decent beer and the happy hour special is but one get one about 10$USD (about average cost of a beer there). Location is perfect!

Rooms are basic and small but clean. Breakfast is buffet style and of decent enough standard (I've definitely had much worse). No one checks that you have paid for breakfast or anything so I can only assume that all guests get it complimentary. So if a travel company tries to use it as some sort of bargaining chip when trying to sell you something extra don't fall for it! Best part was staff who were always happy and helped us out with lots of information and let us borrow an adapter and phone charger.

Those who travel Iceland on a small budget and whom it does not bother that the house is preferred by school classes or youth groups, is in good hands here.

Basic small rooms but it's clean and the beds are very comfortable and the rooms are warm. Breakfast is perfectly adequate and plentiful. Situated at the edge of town but it's a nice walk. If you are looking for a place to crash this is it. No hairdryer.

Many complain about the size of the rooms. However, we must not forget the prices, which are absolutely fine by Icelandic standards and are to be located in the lowest range within Reykjavik. Value for money is perfectly fine.

Very tight rooms, hardly any room for the suitcase. In 2 people it gets very tight. Bathroom sparse. But everything clean and the staff is friendly.

Nice hotel. Close to the ocean. Comfortable bed. Soft bedding. The water does have a sulpher smell, but is subtle. Gift shop, restaurant and bar are all located inside. Friendly staff. All speak English. Only downside is the hotel is pricey, but everything is expensive in Iceland, but worth the experience.

Decent hotel. Clean. Convenient for bus tours. Rooms are nothing special but you are just in them to sleep. Good quality breakfast.

The location is great. Close to the sea but no sea view. Rooms are quite small but expected for the price. Window has a nice picture of a waterfall on but open it and it's the next corridor. Definitely made me laugh. Not a big deal but hard to get fresh air. The coffee​/bar area downstairs is nice and there is a small gift shop. Overall definitely a budget place but still clean and in a great location, close to the pool and a a short walk to the town center.

Been there in December. Nice location, close to shore. Great service. Small but clean room with nice bath. Buffet average and simple.

Brought a school group here. No frills accommodation, so important to consider it as such. If I were traveling privately with my family, I would consider this room basic, but fine for one or two nights. Traveling with 21 boys, however, this place is superb. Staff have treated the kids well. Ruins are small and basic, but well above the standard w often get on group trips. And the buffet styled evening meal was a pain free way of feeding a lot of hungry guests at once. So, I'd rate this place with 3 to 4 stars for private travel, but for school groups 4 to 5.

Very very small room with no complimentary toiletries. The 'window' in our room opened up into the hallway! Very basis, but was ok for 1 night. The breakfast was better than the room. Cheese, ham, bread, eggs, tomatoes, cereal or porridge. However, no English breakfast tea.

Just spent four nights there, 6 of us, 3 double rooms, 2 rooms fine, my one not so good, no heating to control, but not cold, only window opened into corridor, so no good, rooms very small, not enough storage so you live out of your suitcase, being English, tea or coffee in rooms would have been brilliant, but even the plug sockets were pot luck if working, the TV in room just about worked but remote was held together with cellotape, staff were friendly and helpful, drink prices at the bar were the same as anything in Iceland, horrendous, £7.50 for a pint of lager, Food was ok but not designed for tourists, no fried food at all for breakfast, so very limited choice of food, so overall could do with a bit of updating but as a pitstop works ok.

Well situated — 25 minute stroll to Down Town Reykjavik. Good clean hotel with friendly service. Free Wi-Fi and an incredible view from our window of the bay.

Excellent service, even when we had an issue they rectified it straight away, with no fuss. The tourist information Part in the hotel was really really helpful they helped us with one of our excursion problems. Yes the rooms are small but the city is a amazing the hotel is in a brilliant location so you don't spend much time with there. I would recommend this hotel to anyone if they are coming to visit.

Not a great hotel. Can't complain as you get what you pay for. Standard rooms are very very small with dated decor — room wasn't particularly clean when I checked in. There's a towel change each day but no cleaning. The breakfast is ok; a selection of breads, cheese and meats. Around 25 mins walk to down town Reykjavik and some fantastic views from just outside the hotel of the mountains.

The standard rooms and bathrooms are tiny, but clean and bright. Our room had a great view of the sea and I would request a room with a window to the outside as some of the rooms have a window to the hallway. We were a bit cramped so next time I would upgrade to the bigger rooms. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, especially the girls in the gift shop who helped book excursions and answered questions. The Wi-Fi worked great and was free as was the parking. It's a bit of a walk to the city center, however there is an incredible pool complex 3-4 blocks away that I highly recommend!

Cheap and cheerful but lacking charm. This is a reasonable budget option about 20 minutes walk from the city's shops and restaurants. There is a bus stop outside. Breakfast was simple but filling and our room was clean if cramped. I'd recommend you stretch to the 'deluxe' rooms if you can afford it. They have better views and a separate breakfast room on the 7th floor which will keep you clear of the school groups that frequent the cheapest rooms.

Rooms could be better, we had a room that had a "Window" opening out to a corridor which wouldn't lock so there was no need for the door, food was ok, Free Wi-Fi was a bit slow but staff were friendly.

Bad Hotel, with many shortcomings : rooms are very small, dirty, smelly bathroom, dirty the floor, and Loud Traffic, guests, loud, room without window, Breakfast, ground clearance, Always the same Breakfast, tables to be late cleared. Never again, not to recommend.

The rooms were adequate size, clean… for example, every day fresh towels and even a fridge we could find Breakfast also okay… Coffee good! Service very good… Dinner not included in price, but cheap and good…

Its OK. Food isn't great for breaks fast and Wi-Fi is expensive. Rooms are tiny and the lights didn't work and the bed was broken.

It's quite okay despite of some drawbacks: Location is not so central, the price for Wi-Fi is extremely high (15 € per 24h) and the choice at the breakfast buffet is not so great (no green tee, no cream cheese). In a hostel for which I payed a quarter of that price, Wi-Fi was free.
