Ok where do I start, the location is PERFECT. Pals Hostel is situated right next to St Stephens Basilica, which is a great location for tourists wanting to explore Budapest. We decided to walk the 100m from our front door at 6am to snap a perfect sunrise photo of the basilica. Check it out! Our room was a shared apartment. Private room and bathroom, with shared kitchen and lounge area. Our roommates we're great and we hit the town together to explore the ruin bars The staff at the reception were very helpful. They advised us on transport options and booking tickets for attractions I couldn't recommend this hostel enough! It was busy when we arrived so you know it's popular almost tourists if you're a solo traveler. Katie & Jake x.

Pal's Hostel is a basic hostel. The living areas are very clean, though access is through a community area that hasn't been cleaned for months if not years. Pal's Hostel does 2 things especially well: location, and guest service. It is right in the middle of all the attractions, and reliable currency exchanges/laundromats/good food/transportation is literally next door. In terms of guest experience, Pal clearly makes it a point to check in via email or in person whether everything is ok. All in all, it is excellent value for money.

The Hostel was clean, staff were extremely healthful, and it's located in the heart of Budapest. To top it off, the price of the accommodation was reasonable too. Would happily stay here again.

I chose this hostel mainly because of its location. Everything is in walking distance and there is public transport nearby. The rooms are very spacious and clean. Although there is room for improvement on the bathrooms. The staff made my stay very enjoyable. They were extremely accommodating and always friendly. I would definitely stay here again!

Besides some minor professional issues the staff was very kind and the whole stay was very nice. They didn't take credit card for one night, so I had to go to an ATM and withdraw money. We ordered a cab, staff says they'll order it once we leave. I asked to order it now, since it takes a few minutes for the cab to arrive and we were short to get a train. Staffs said no. Cab was called when we left. We had to wait for 5 minutes and needed to run for the train. That's no customer oriented attitude. Besides from that everything was fine. Clean rooms, hip interior, late check-in possible and fair price for the central location of the hostel.

Really neat hostel with shared apartments available for those looking for a bit more privacy than a bunkbed in a dormitory right off St. Stephen's Cathedral square. Funky, upbeat decor with simple furnishings and good heating. The shared areas of the hostel were really cozy and interesting. Friendly staff and amazingly cheap rates.

Wonderful hotel! super clean. The location is obviously perfect (in front of the basilica which is the very center) and it's close to Deak sqaure where metro, tram, buses are joigning together. All lot of restaurants around it, groceries store and all facilities. Very kind staff. I highly recommend it.

The staff is super friendly and very cool. I had to stay at the hostel 12 hours more since I did the checkout and they took care of the bags and allowed me to stay in the facilities with coffee and free! They also lent us umbrellas on rainy days and adapters for the plugs. The place is very clean and spacious, we had a spacious and very clean refrigerator and the bathrooms excellent. Spacious, clean and warm water that was necessary in this winter we spent. I recommend it to 100%

The place is fine, everything should be to your liking, but I must have had some bad luck. Service was friendly, I can't fault that. My main complaint is their laundry service, all my clothes came back shrunken, not great when that's everything you have to travel with, someone doesn't know how to use a dryer, I'd have preferred to have done it myself. Clothes are rarely cheap these days so this will cost me. Other hostels have a laundry room, this system would be my preference so that you're responsible for your own laundry. The apartment layout is great, but it means that other guests don't know if someone is in and sleeping. Being woken up throughout the night by guests assuming no one is in is no fun. I only stayed for one night deliberately to have a private room and a good night sleep recovery before continuing. The beds and pillows are not comfortable, I woke up with a sore neck to add to it all. Also it's not a very social place from what I saw. This isn't a hostel to make friends in. I wouldn't stay again. It's almost an awesome hostel, but they screw up on the basics, such a shame.

Great hostel in budapest! Located in a very easy area to access and remember! The staff where great and the rooms flawless. This might be one of the best kept secrets in town. I will stay with them everytime I visit budapest if possible! Thanks for the great stay!

The location is perfect.

Great apartment in the heart of the city overlooking the basilica.
The rooms are large, there are cupboards for things in the rooms except the beds, there is a table.
The kitchen is fully staffed, there is a microwave, a gas cooker, a refrigerator, utensils, a pile of cabinets.
The shower room is big.
Hair dryer needs to be asked for reception.
The apartment is clean and warm.
Nearby there are grocery stores, right on the square there is a liquor store, there are several cafes.
Before Christmas on a farewell, directly under Windows, works Christmas market.

Room was centrally located, clean and fairly quiet. We had booked a private room but we were intruded on at 6 am by someone who had a key to our room. Security could be better, and there was no lock boxes in the rooms.

Bad service, not clean, not a nice Hostal… the only positive thing I can say is it's great location. I don't recommend it.

It's right in the city centre, kind enough to offer your ride from airport for a charge, but staff is awesome. Quick responses on the emails, call, etc. They have common areas as well for you to pass time. It's literally in the heart of the city, so plenty of good food options around. The only con I found there was rooms need refurbishing. They really need to renovate their facilities for sure, otherwise it's a decent place to stay for couple of days.

Great location if not a bit noisy at night. But if you're expecting uk hotel / b & b / self catering standards your in for a surprise, the building is tatty with random murals on the walls. The communal staircase and lift is to be quit honest dirty. Please remember we booked an apartment which we got and was satisfactory but this place is primerly a hostel and not an apartment block / complex. On a positive note the staff are generally very helpful.

We had a self catering apartment for 9 guys on a stag do and we really enjoyed it. Great location and very spacious apartment.

Great hostel, staff were friendly and accommodating. Our room was huge. Beds were great, I really liked the recommendation boards from other travellers. Central to the main sites, we walked everywhere from there (we do like walking). Plenty of places to eat and corner stores nearby. Well equipped kitchen.

The hostel is nice, and its key strength is undoubtedly the position. It is very central, you will be able to walk the city from its heart having everything, transports included at your fingertips. The staff was kind, friendly and over all helpful. The room was tidy and clean. We were given a room in an apartment fairly big and worm: he kitchen was functional and we were given also a highchair for the baby. I would definitely recommend this place.

Right in the centre of budapest. Short walk to chain link bridge. Excellent communication before and during stay.

Not bad but can be improved!
I stayed in this guest house the time of a We. Already, it should be noted that this is not a youth hostel in the traditional sense of the term because indeed there is not really a common room for everyone. The apartments and rooms are separated in different buildings. A little problematic for us who were a big group, it was not obvious to meet us at a gathering point. There are only several large pool rooms in the main building. I made two rooms during my stay. A privatized apartment for 3 people: it was very big! Rather clean, just a few details to note: — Presence of silver fish in the bathroom, — strong odor in the toilet, and peeing noise from the top tenants when they relieve themselves … otherwise the apartment were fine, with TV and DVD Player + bath towels, we paid €30 per person for 2 nights so not very expensive! For my last night, I took a single room at €24, so I had to change the building, I found myself in a much more vintage apartment. Overall it was clean but really old school. Unlike the first two nights, my room was not heated enough so I had a bit cold and no shutters at my window so I had the light all night in my room. Otherwise the PAL hostel is very well organized for check in/out, transfers from/to the airport.

Very central, clean, no frills.

Most hostels can make you feel like you're in a sardine can. They try to cram as many people into the space as possible. When you walk into Pal's you instantly recognize that's not part of their philosophy. There's a MASSIVE common room with tall ceilings and open space. There's inspiring art decor on the walls. To top it off, the people working the front are friendly and helpful. I had a package mailed there ahead of my arrival and they kept it safe and had it for me when I arrived.

Fantastic location, right in the middle of town. Only a short underground ride to the train station. We stayed in a for bedroom room with its own bathroom and kitchen. The room was large and the bathroom was clean. Had a view of St Stephen's Basilica. Great hostel.

This was an excellent hostel! If you are looking for a quiet place to stay in a great location, this is it. The staff was friendly and the dorm unit was super clean.

Location is the best, you can't get much more central! Very friendly and helpful staff, happy to help until 2am. Towels provided and rooms cleaned daily. Excellent value for money.

Best hostel ever! I still can't believe that I slept in the heart of the city for virtually no money and somehow I managed to end up in a stunning, spacious and really clean apartment, big enough to play some football actually. Not to mention the four meters high ceilings and the enormous windows that secured plenty of natural light even though most of the time the weather was cloudy. Pretty decent Wi-Fi connection. Ultimately, the girls that checked us in/out were very friendly and helpful. They gave us some umbrellas the first day (free of charge for the hostel's guests). The black and white doggy was the most friendly employer though :) Some 5 star hotels can learn a lot about hotel management from Pal's staff. Hope to see you soon! :)

Great location, cheap, the room was clean and cosy but Wi-Fi was really bad.

Without a doubt the best hostel I have ever stayed in! I traveled there with a big group and from the touch down in budapest airport Pals looked after us. Airport transfers brought us directly to the hostel which was located in the centre of the city, across from the basilica, a 2 min walk from Vaci Ucta (the main shop street), the chain bridge, 500m from tram and metro stops and near all of the best restaurants and night clubs! The apartments were amazing and fully equipped with all of the essentials, as well as being very spacious and warm with terrific views of the city and cheap prices! The staff and hostel were amazing and everyone visiting budapest should fit in a stay at the fabulous Pals! Thanks to the staff for everything!

Location and the staff are perfect. Check in was delayed by the hostel and we had to wait a long time on the bags, although booking was made 3 weeks beforehand.

Fantastic location, really helpful and kind staff, and a standard that you wouldn't normally find at a regular hostel. Perfect especially for young travellers! Also, lots of helpful advice from past tenants written on sheets on the walls :)

Just stayed there couple of days ago. I had a private apartment of three and the location was really really good. Price is very accessible and the whole stay was just amazing. Staff is really nice and helpful and they will help you no matter what. I strongly recommend this hostel and I am sure coming back soon.

Hi, I stayed here one night and loved the place. Unlike Wombat's Hostel, this one is small with around 5 rooms and 2 bathrooms. The private double bed room was very comfortable for 11 euros, the bath room was clean, there is a kitchen downstairs, and the location is in the center of the Pest side, close to the Instant Club (best club-ever ^_^), good food like 400 and Most, and a 40 minute walk to the Thermal Baths on the north-east side. The service was excelent, the guy at the desk had an envelop ready for us with all the tourist information and explained us everything we needed to know, we also wanted to know at what time the thermal bath's was closed and they even called for us to ask! I hate being in a crowded noisy 10 bed room hostel, so this was Hostel was perfect!
