Review of Blue Aegean Hotel & Suites 4*

In General a good budget hotel. Really 50 meters from the sea and a small beach, very good food (the surrounding beach-tourist restaurants do not drastically better), very friendly staff. The rooms are spacious and relatively quiet: after 23 hours, all the night life stops. But the hotel is not brand-new: plumbing has been worn out, the fridge in the rooms is also not the first year went, TVs configured a few channels (in Russian we only had two). The package "all inclusive" means only non-alcoholic drinks (except fresh juices) in a single bar, ice cream from 15 to 16 hours there and some useless snacks. And the town itself is such that to go nowhere. Around several restaurants, a couple of shops (groceries, beach accessories, typical Souvenirs). Who needs shopping and hustle – you are not here. However, the capital of the island (Heraklion) only half an hour away by bus (2.5 euros) or 15 minutes by taxi (about 30 euros). There you can take the typical tourist route (2-3 hours) through the port and the old fortress on the local "Arbat" (street of 25 August). A short drive away there are larger and more "tazovye" towns (Malia, Anissaras). Gouves for those who came to bask in the sun and swim with young children. But since it's Krit, don't forget to go to the Lassithi plateau (an hour away), better in a rental car, either by purchasing a tour to the nearby shop tours:. Will be much cheaper than the guide from the tour company at the hotel. There are gorgeous views, authentic buildings, fresh olive oil, honey and pottery. And children will enjoy the water Park Water City. But in General, if you want a beach holiday, then Turkey for almost half the price will offer much better equipped the hotel with a vast territory and a ball on it. Immediately the hotel area is a small patch with 2 small pools surrounded by rooms. No slides, no animation, only a tiny Playground with swings. Polite staff and decent food does not compensate for a low ratio quality/price the tour to Crete in General. If not for the beautiful plateau of Lassithi and is a great water Park, it would be a sense of vain overpayment. You either need to raise the bar the budget for 1-2 thousand euros to stay in a 5* hotel and try out all the entertainment, including tours to neighbouring Islands. But in this case, for me personally, a trip to Crete in General becomes meaningless, because for the price (4-5 thousand euros per family) there is a more beautiful island and country.
