Excellent service, very helpful staff! Limited number of rooms so very personal. Great breakfast and every morning another very tasteful surprise at the breakfast buffet.

A wonderful base for adventures in Cologne. Beautiful breakfast spread and coffee in the mornings. Knowledgeable and friendly staff provided recommendations and directions. Junior suite was well appointed and had lovely views of the cathedral. Can't recommend enough.

A really nice hotel in the heart of Cologne. In the upper rooms (super clean) overlooking the cathedral. The staff is super great. Breakfast as well. Here you immediately feel very comfortable. Happy six stars!

We felt completely comfortable, the room was very clean, modern, tasteful and functional (air conditioning free Wi-Fi), the breakfast buffet is absolute top class, every morning there was a selection of freshly prepared and homemade small Delicacies.
There is something for every taste. The immediate proximity to the centre is an opportunity for all activities in and around Cologne, at the same time the location is surprisingly quiet. The staff was always attentive and very friendly. We would love to come back.

Amazing, homely hotel! Super friendly and helpful staff, especially Ingmar :) Extremely comfy beds, the room was immaculate, a huge choice for breakfast complete with homemade breads, jams, smoothies etc. Perfect location in the centre of the old town. I stayed for 2 nights. It was very close to 2 Christmas markets and the cathedral. The staff were very friendly and the rooms very clean.

Small hotel with great performance. You will be warmly welcomed and served by the whole team every day. Great breakfast with fresh produce. Free Wi-Fi. Clean and cozy rooms. TV device too small for my eyes. Location sensational for exploring the whole city centre. Footspaced from the station. Happy again!

Amazing. Friendly staff. All you have ever needed is in your room with free Wi-Fi… and if you need something they haven't thought of they will try their best to make whatever you need happen.

This is the best value for money you can find. It is modern, stylish, with a great breakfast and lovely staff. They really think about their guests needs. The lack of elevator is a small problem the bigger one are the works going on just outside the hotel. It is very noisy and spoils the quiet of the place. It is not their fault but it will take at least a year till it will end.

Not a big, very cozy hotel. Convenient location of the hotel: 10 mins walk from the train station, 5 mins to the cathedral. Were a family of four, lived in a two-storey room under the roof. The main sights of the city were visible from the windows of the room. Breakfast buffet. Varied and tasty. The room was clean.

A terrific place to stay in Cologne. It is centrally located and within walking distance to the Cathedral, museums, and the Rhine river walk but on a side street, which means it is removed from the crowds. The staff is excellent — professional and caring with a sense of humor. The furnishings and fixtures are tastefully and thoughtfully chosen. The breakfast was delicious. We loved our stay in Cologne and staying at Stern am Rathaus was one of the reasons why.

Imagine you woke up after a tiring day, the first thing you saw was a big smile so tender and sweet, followed with delicious food. Could your day be any better? This is my experience at Stern am Rathaus. The location, the staff, the room, are all top-notch! Definitely recommended!

Wonderful hotel right in the middle of Cologne. The bedrooms are comfortable (especially the beds! ) with a very clever use of space which made our room feel much larger than it actually was. The breakfasts are brilliant — everything home-made. We particularly appreciated the bread and butter + coffee is good and strong. Nothing was too much trouble for the very friendly and efficient staff. I would absolutely recommend this hotel, and would love to come and stay again. 2 nights were definitely not enough!

We were warmly welcomed. Our room was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities. I really liked that they had electrical plugs for other countries, so we did not have to use an adaptor to charge our electronics. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was really great. The parking was close — a bit tricky to get to because of road construction blocking off the most direct route. Hotel location was very convenient (5 minutes) to the cathedral and shopping areas. Would highly recommend and would stay again if I am in Cologne.

Had a great stay here. Location is great. Staff are friendly, genuine, and just what you are looking for when you visit a foreign land. Welcome mint lemonade was nice touch. Breakfast is fresh, good, interesting, and well thought out. Museum close by is one of the perfectly sized museums that allows you to get a good feel for art, yet not come away exhausted or overwhelmed. Highly recommend a stay at Hotel Stern am Rathaus. And it is fun to say!

Very good staff, located in very quiet street but in center of Cologne. During our first night we experienced irritating noise from opposite room; luckily after intervening of staff we could sleep. Room is, however, not so spacious but OK for us. Breakfast and also the mini-morning newspaper were very good.

Lovely welcome, sumptious breakfasts (including a chocolate bunny on Easter Sunday! ), comfortable room, spacious bathroom, super location — open the windows to enjoy the bells of the Dom at their best.

What a wonderful visit to the Stern. We had a lovely email conversation with Jork before visiting which showed the Germans have a sense of humour. The hotel is on a quiet street, literally a stones throw from the Alter Market but with the windows shut it is very quiet. We had the windows open in the afternoon and were enchanted with the glockenspiel from the Rathaus next door and the bustle of the Christmas market. The room (no1) was all we expected with tea and coffee and comfy bed, only let down by the rubber covers for the mattresses (although they are more hygienic). A nice touch is the UK socket for charging phones etc. The bathroom is continental wet room so if you want to use the loo after showering it's wet feet time. That's not a criticism of the hotel but of wet rooms. The hotel looks very new with no rough edges, indeed the staff are very attentive and I cannot imagine any rough edges being tolerated. The breakfast was super, especially for a hotel with 8 rooms. Cologne doesn't wake up early as it stays up late in market season, so a lie in and a relaxed brekka in smart surroundings with friendly staff is a great start to the day. Shall be back.

Fab location for the christmas markets. On a quiet street, 10 minutes from the train station. Very friendly staff, tasty breakfasts, smart, comfortable room with free Wi-Fi. Highly recommended.

We have had a nice stay in the Hotel in December and we have repeat it in August with the same satisfaction. Recomanarem l'hotel als nostres amics I amigues sense cap dubte.

Very centrally located, just a few blocks from most museums and the cathedral. Stylishly decorated in mid-century modern (Eames chairs, walnut surfaces, etc. ). Only 8 rooms, so guests are treated with personal attention. Breakfasts are of a high order and include cooked eggs and a variety of other foods. No lift, but help is offered with carrying baggage up to one of two floors. Shower allows easy access for the disabled, but our room was not appropriate for a wheel chair, and even the otherwise disabled would have to walk up stairs to one's room. I believe it is a good idea, as my wife and I did, to reserve early because the rooms otherwise will be booked. Not sure that the hotel has a/c; you'd have to ask. We were nevertheless comfortable during warm weather.

A wonderful hotel with a warm welcome. Ideal location in the centre of the old town, just a short walk away from the Dom and riverside with lots of restaurants and bars close by. Beautifully clean and stylish with an excellent breakfast. Highly recommended. We stayed for 3 nights and couldn't have picked a better location and hotel. A great city break, as enjoyed by 2 adults and our 13 year old daughter.

A very recommendable house in ideal location in Cologne: We have four days in this beautiful, small Hotel spent and were very satisfied. Beautiful, fully equipped and, above all, immaculate clean rooms, friendly and courteous staff, always helpful and with advice standing. The location could not be better, right at the old market, hay market, the Cathedral and the shopping streets, metro Station 100 metres away. Absolutely recommended, we will definitely come back.

We were already several times in the Cafe — for Breakfast, for lunch. The food always tasted good, the staff is friendly and the facility also pleases me very well. In particular, I can recommend the Breakfast buffet — very good selection of breads, spreads, jam. Even the Butter is homemade and the homemade almond-chocolate spread is very tasty.

This review refers to the small cafe that is attached to the Hotel, but also other guests is open: We were a couple of Times, once after a family celebration in a larger round, there, drink coffee and have Breakfast or a snack in between food and this cafe completely thrilled: the food is very tasty, many Speißen and ingredients are home-made (such as Butter and yogurt) and / or organic. In addition, the staff is very friendly. I can this Café only recommend.
