Would definitely recommend! A really nice place, it's clean, really well situated, it's convenient and you can spend a great in it! Lot of things are available for free and the stay is cheap! A great place, I will come back.

The hostel was a very good one, it has a good atmosphere, the staff was friendly, it had a kitchen so it was easy to cook your food and some money. The location was very good being 20 minutes to the cathedral. All in all a very pleasant experience. Would come back again!

It's almost been a year since I visited Cologne with a friend, and staying at the Penny Pincher was probably the best choice we made during the entire trip. The hostel is great: clean and super comfortable. The owner was also very friendly and he was open to hear any suggestions we had in order to improve the place (we had almost none, place is already amazing) … It was the Carnival period so there was a very lively atmosphere even at the hostel, and the common area is definitely the place to be if you want to chill and meet people from all around the world. We will definitely stay here again if we ever return to Cologne! Many greetings from Malta! :)

Very quiet. No lift. Roommate was a perv so spent the night freezing in the lounge. Good location despite being very isolated esp at night.

Cozy, not expensive and will not raise up prices when they have fancy concerts or events. Nice people on the front desk as well!

Great location 2 mins to Rhein and free tram to city. 5 mins to city. Lovely helpful staff. Clean and tidy at all times. Very nice facilities. Best hostel I ever stayed in. They always give free treats and coffee and tea.

While visiting Cologne, this was an excellent and budget-friendly place to stay. Everything was very clean and almost anything that you might need during your stay was either included or found at a modest price at the reception desk. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful and genuinely offered to do what they could to make my stay more comfortable. Cologne is a very walkable city, and the Penny Pincher Inn is situated in an excellent location only minutes away from the train station, restaurants and grocery stores, the Rhine riverfront, and the Deutzer Bridge to old town. If I'm ever back in Cologne, I would certainly stay with the Penny Pincher Inn again.

Marcel (owner) is a super friendly guy! My credit card didn't work beforehand, so we were afraid that we wouldn't be able to book rooms. Since we were able to guarantee our visit in Cologne, he granted us the privilege to pay cash. What a clean and cheap place. And it's quite close to the city center. When in Cologne-it's the place to stay! THANKS SO MUCH.

Clean, friendly, easy, fast to put it short. Room was half full with easy going ppl.

It was really clean and nice. The guy that rented it was cool. There was an arcade machine with retro games. Free coffee and tea. Labels on everything how it worked in english. Clean beds with enough room in the rooms. A bathroom for every room that also had a shower in it. Working keys and enough keys for everyone. Close to the city. Pretty much what you would want a place like this to have and a little bit more for a pretty good price.

Terrible service! The worst kind of bait and switch. I was told I'd have to pay extra to check in after 8pm even tho it was not listed in the booking information or description, and check in closed at 10. When my bus was late I called them 6 times and they did not answer. I ended up having to book another place and they still charged me for the room even tho I didn't stay and they did not respond. Then after that the person I spoke to lied to me repeatedly and refused to refund my money. Avoid! There are plenty of other places with 24 hr service.

Homely and quiet. Rooms are fairly spacious. Lockers for every person. Feels safe and secure. Manager is very friendly and helpful. Everything is kept very clean and tidy. Only downside is the lack of an option for breakfast.

Great hostel in Cologne with a very accommodating and friendly host. Just don't just look into the city centre — Cologne has so much more to offer and you're still in no time at the DOM. During a visit you must also test the MONGO nearby. Very tasty Mongolian Grill.
Only the check-Inn times in the penny Pincher are still not perfect.

Friendly host. Have stayed here during the fair DMEXCO for under €30 in the 6 room. In summer probably very warm. Wi-Fi is free of charge.

The hostel is beautiful and equipped with new furniture. Because it is quite small (only 8 rooms) it is totally cozy. The beds are comfortable and not too soft. Everything including the kitchen is clean. In addition there is free Wi-Fi in the entire hostel and the Cologne-Deutz station is close by. Therefore perfectly recommended.

I am totally delighted by the hostel, everything is new, nicely decorated and above all clean. The beds are comfortable even with good pillows and a good blanket, which you can't find anywhere. In the evening it is totally quiet, nevertheless you can get to the nearest subway station in a few minutes and from there it is really everywhere. So really one of the better hostels and that even at a fair price.

Stayed there for esl one cologne 2016 along with 3 friends since it was close to the arena (~7 min on foot). The rooms were extremely clean and pleasant. Since the hostel is located on a quiet street there was no audible traffic noise even with open windows. The historic city centre is located on the other side of the rhine but easily reachable via the 'deutzer brücke' on foot (~12 mins)

Amazing place in a peaceful locality of Köln. Market, transport and restraunt accessible at a 5 minute walk. The owner is really friendly. Amazing place to plan your stay.

Totally recommend! Cozy and tidy hostel. Ha been there for five nights. Marcel is a very friendly host. It's at a convenient location, Rewe, kiosk, restaurant, The Rhine…can reach by walking in 3 mins. Definitely want to stay there again.

Awesome hostel. Marcel is a great host, friendly guy and goes out of his way to give you a hand. Good location, clean and spacious rooms with ensuites. Well equipped kitchen, quiet neighbourhood. Supermarket and local transport are close by. Great place to stay if you are visiting Cologne. Thanks Marcel!
