We stayed here from 29 April — 2 May for our wedding and hosted 14 family members. From the start the hotel and staff were faultless. They anticipated our needs and provided outstanding service at every turn. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the food is fantastic!

The wellness area is top, very nice swimming pool, very nice staff, always clean.

Very fitting ambience for a castle!

We stayed 2 nights in a cathedral suite in Bensberg Castle. Nice size, charming interior and great beds. The view of Cologne is beautiful. All staff are attentive and friendly. Breakfast and food in general are very good. The spa is ok, but in my opinion too small. Especially in Corona times. I didn't feel particularly comfortable there. We could not book any massages, as everything was already fully booked. Too bad! We can still warmly recommend the hotel. A visit is definitely worth it!

A very enjoyable experience being in this wonderful building with all its spa amenities, the great food and its beautiful environment and location.

Absolutely out of date, nothing more renovated. In the rooms, it stinks. Staff is very unfriendly and arrogant. The Althoff Gran hotel is like a Standard 3 star Hotel. Forgot my headphones in the room. Several times on the phone asked, supposedly they have not been found.

I went to Schloss Bensberg in July 2018, the hotel is near Koln in Germany. I had some expectations because I knew Schloss Bensberg used to be a palace. There was an wonderful view at the grand entrance, on the other hand lobby and elevator were cozy in comparison and the hotel room was lovely. I felt the hotel was attentive to detail. I visited to restaurant Vandome after I had checked in, it is in Schloss Bensberg and I had a dinner at there. The restaurant’s dishes were all the fragrant and tasty, and plating to the table was art. I liked village near the hotel, the residents were friendly and the village it self was quiet. If I returned to Germany, I would definitely stay at the Schloss Bensberg again, thanks to the staff of Schloss Bensberg I had an excellent stay.

We only spent 1 night here during the fair and it was like a short holiday. The hotel is located in a castle which creates a special ambience. The rooms are spacious even if you are still a bit old-fashioned. The spa area is great and has been opened for us extra longer. The breakfast buffet is sumptuous, really tasty and in a very nice area of the castle. We were also there in the evening to eat in the Italian restaurant. Although a little more expensive but very tasty. The service is always top. Who has the opportunity to stay here should do it.

My husband and I spent our first wedding anniversary here from yesterday to today and I must say it was simply perfect! The service was the bomb, the workers at the spa and reception were the bomb and the guy who went for our car was the bomb! It was a perfect stay and we will definitely come back. We were already in the Althoff Bensberg for the second time and were thrilled just like the first time. Just a great hotel, friendly service, beautiful rooms, just great. It was certainly not the last time.

A beautiful hotel, we were on site privately and wanted to do something good for ourselves. The hotel leaves nothing to be desired, it is decorated in Baroque style, the outdoor area and the spa are also beautiful. Breakfast offers everything you can imagine, the 3 restaurants are also highly recommended. The room was also fantastic, beautifully furnished and very clean. We'll definitely come back and we're really looking forward to it.

The staff would do a spark more attention. It is funny when the car master helps guests into the car and then disappears without taking into account the car behind it. Or that 2 front desk staff see you take a seat in the lobby, but no one comes asking how to help.
However, the house and the view of Cologne Cathedral make you forget a lot.

Very friendly staff. The hotel is amazingly beautiful. If you are looking for a castle to stay in this is perfect.

The castle hotel has a wonderful coffee, comfortably furnished with magnificent seating. Even if there are some raised prices there, you will also get the very best of cakes, tea and coffee served with perfect service. It is also worth strolling through the garden over the mountain, great views down to Cologne Cathedral.

Beautiful place cozy, clean, very helpful staff and alegro, I ate some tapas in their wine bar, the level of presentation of the dishes and great, I would rather eat in their restaurant but close very soon.

A very nice house with a great ambiance. The food in the restaurant was delicious, but the portions of the 3 course menu were rather clear.
I would like to praise the front desk separately, you feel the same, thank you very much.

Opulent and excellent — Ambience, furnishing, design, taste, style, lawn and the view to Cologne Dom! But the highlight that tops that all are the restaurants, one two star and the other three star… A culinary feast not to be missed!

Stay V13. — 15.04 The castle is an imposing phenomenon from the outside, but when you come to the lobby you are overwhelmed by the ambiance. Very, very, very nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Furthermore, we would like to emphasize that all (the whole team) from management to home-keeping (house dust allergy) have ensured that it was for my wife and me a restful and relaxing weekend.

Beautiful hotel, impeccable service! Rooms are clean and comfortable. I’ve been several times for business, I would love to stay and enjoy a bit longer.

Were on the occasion of my 50zigsten birthday on the spot. Wellness area would have to be renewed urgently. Otherwise, as always. Friendly. Attentive. Very good… unfortunately very crowded due to the long weekend. But always a nice time… you can let it go well.

My wife and were last summer in the castle hotel and were very enthusiastic. The breakfast and the bar were particularly fond of us. There are so many high-quality baked goods from the castle bakery at breakfast that you can't test yourself through everything during several nights' stay. The quality of the products is outstanding. Furthermore, the ambience of the castle is to be emphasized. The rooms are beautiful and if you have breakfast under trees in the courtyard in the morning or enjoy your glass of wine there in the evening, then that is really outstanding. The same applies to the service. At this point you can see that it is a 5* house and at the place it stands out clearly from other hotels of this category. The wellness area is also beautiful, but not too big (and should not be the main reason for the stay) and the trained eye recognizes small defects. You should keep an eye on it. The rooms are dignified/modern, the balancing act has been very well managed. Overall, there is little to complain about, so I'm giving a full 5* here.

Excellent hotel with high class service. Good food and top-notch personnel. Wellness area is well equipped. Close to "Königsforst" for running. As it is an old castle converted to a hotel, "navigating" through the complex is not that simple.

Wonderful hotel, very good SPA. Staff not too welcoming. Excellent cuisine in the Vendome Restaurant. Good choice of drinks in the bar. The hotel can be reached by public transport and a little uphill walk.

Rude staff! We didn’t stay at this hotel We only booked for a meal in the restaurant our booking was at 6.30 and we came at 5.30 In the reception they told us the restaurant will open at 6 but you can sit in the bar until then, We went to the bar and someone approached us we start to talk in English and he ask if we are staying in the hotel and we said no then he said you can’t drink here and started to talk and German and got very aggressive! So we sat in the lobby for an hour waiting for restaurant to open without allowing us to even have a drink! Avoid this place.

Visited the Christmas Market. Nice atmosphere and not as overcrowded as many other Christmas Markets. Perhaps a little bit expensive (8€) for the size but one drink included.

Stunning old castle that's been modernized and turned into a 5* hotel. A hidden gem 30 minutes east of Cologne. Large breakfast buffet with custom orders for those wanting an omelette, etc. Super comfortable beds, speedy Wi-Fi, and a beautiful courtyard.

Went for a wedding! Stunning facade! Very nice rooms and friendly staff. Not much to do in the neighboring town but a close drive to Cologne.

This time we were finally back in the castle for the Royal Teatime. The selection of teas left no wish unfulfilled — the sandwiches and especially the chocolate seofries were perfect for it! The service of Maximilian in the Lobby Bar has given us a very pleasant afternoon. Thank you very much for that.

A beautiful place with a romantic atmosphere. We visited schloss Bensberg to celebrate a wedding and it was breathtaking. The dinner could be described as exquisite and I would definitely recommend to go there to anyone, who wants to experience something special.

Dear Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg, Thank you for at lovely stay and a meal to remember at the Restaurant Vendôme! We all felt welcome all the way from the arrival, to the visit of your wonderful spa, to the Restaurant Vendôme, to the wine cellar, to all the openminded employees, your other guests as well, and lastly to the pleasant departure. There is very little to be upset about, maybe the view from the Althoff — a little too beautiful ;) Sincerely Allan.

Very friendly and attentive staff. Great breakfast and very tasty dinner.
The bed pillows are too soft, but probably you can ask at the reception for harder pillow. The shower water is and was scalded to for a few seconds (at least on the second floor). The TV responds extremely slow on the remote control.
Forgot our cell phone charging cable in the rooms. Only after a phone call the following day it was confirmed. Would have liked that to hotel by reports alone, so I have the feeling that it would have gone under.
Nevertheless, one can recommend the hotel!

Great disappointment not to recommend!
The bed and champagne breakfast were the surprise birthday party for my friend.
Unfortunately we were disappointed already 16 upon our arrival at 9 01, as no booking was for me despite email correspondence and confirmation and the staff at the reception were also not particularly willing to search for. Only after submitting the email contact and about a 30 of minute wait a room was made available to get an upgrade (as also in the category booked me a room was more available) with the hint for the inconvenience.
We were initially reconciled, unfortunately I found out at our departure that I could now pay this upgrade (100 euro more! ).
Upon my request, whether at least the table was booked for 4 people for the champagne breakfast, was denied and it was also fully booked.
Regardless of me my friend had unbeknownst to my own fortunately reserved had 4 seats to the champagne breakfast and still not cancelled it so that we could at least use the 4 places to his name on Sunday.
Because the small birthday cake requested by me also not booked, I ordered one at the check-in for the next day. I asked the order again to 22 and said it was recorded.
But on demand when Mr Kapitasi, who welcomed us to the champagne breakfast the next day, no order was him.
Luckily he cared personally, so that at least succeeded in this surprise.

It was a great and relaxing weekend. Particularly has us the super loose and fun staff like. At the Bar by the fireplace, we have the evenings with Live music in a relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be back.

I have rarely soooo comfortable and welcome felt like here in the Althoff Grandhotel Schloss Bensberg. The atmosphere of the castle is a very special and all the staff of the house have contributed to it, for me, an unforgettable stay. I felt like a Princess. Very special thanks goes to the two dear ladies of the Banquet, and Mr Wagner himself to us on the concert to U2 have accompanied us into the VIP Lounge each desire from the eyes to read. With the brilliant U2-concert was the of the coronation. My visit was short, but memorable, and certainly not the last — many greetings from the South of Germany.

The place was great, the view over Cologne fabulous. Management and stewards are very welcoming. The restaurant Enoteca offers a nice experience for the price. Single negative point, I was a bit surprised to be charged 22€ additional costs for the night of my car in the garage…

An escape from the everyday. Great restaurants, bars and service.

Spacious 5-star Hotel with excellent gourmet restaurant, and little weaknesses. Plus * Very friendly reception * Spacious Suite with a view of Cologne against surcharge (only) € 250 per night. * Good Breakfast buffet with good Service (although the Restaurant was full). Minus * Technical equipment of the rooms is not on the Stand of a good 5-star hotel. Examples: TV takes like 5 minutes until an image appears. Brausenarmatur is so leaky, that I first me (unwillingly), and then the rest of the bathroom so wet splashed. *Durchführungsschwächen. Examples: — At check-in we asked if we the next Morning, a daily newspaper delivered to the room would like to get. We affirm, but it is the next Morning, no newspaper. Our Package included a glass of champagne as an Aperitif. Only after repeated demand in different Places (reception, bar, Restaurant Vendome) will be with us late in the evening, the champagne in the room supplied. Since we had already 4 to 5 hours Dinner with wine pairing in the Vendome behind us.

For the type of hotel that is very fitting rooms; very good, relaxed, friendly Service in the Gastrobereichen; Service at Check-out not as expected.

There's only a shortcoming. No free Internet access. At the present time, such a thing should never happen.

An exellentez hotel. We were impressed by the service, cleanliness, etc. At any time.

The hotel has large personnel expenses (after my impression with quite many trainees). The result is an attentive and friendly service.
The House is classically furnished to the historic building substance fit (thick carpeting, wood paneling in the elevator).
The rooms are very well equipped. I like that you could do to a sliding door between bath and WC. Certainly an advantage, if you have room for two inhabited.
Review: free Wi-Fi in the lobby/lobby bar but not in the room.

Simply delicious feast.

The champagne brunch is not to be recommended. He took prior to two years per person still 39. — €, so the price is 64 (! ) now. — € with the same performance. Although with shrimp & seafood cocktail is advertised on the buffet, only a MUS seafood is available (Guild! ). By the way: the toilets are not suited to long term stays, because there is only zeitgesteurte lighting (8 minutes, then everything is off).
Here we're talking 5 stars!
