Nena Hostel Berlin Mitte

Ok service, but very inconvenient location far far from any fun part of Berlin. A strange man knocked on our door at 2 am and said it was ‘housekeeping’, later that morning at 7 am someone else knocked on our door and that woke us up. Advice: spend more money and have a more comfy stay. You will not find it here.

I advise everyone NOT to go here! Let’s just say a stranger sneaked via the window into the room and slept in my friends bed. We found him there. The service was the least helpful you could imagine. There was no way they tried to make up for it. We tried to talk to them. They did not take us seriously at all! They didn’t even change the sheets. We asked many times if there was another bed my friend could sleep in. The situation ended that me and my friend had to share a bed.
If something happens, you will not feel safe. The men at the reception are not taking you seriously. I cannot recommend! Take some more money into your hand and go somewhere else.

Extremely bad experience. In the beginning, the shower head in the room was broken so I had change into another room. However, the black hair lady told me a wrong bed number and handed me a room card without the cover to show which bed was mine. As a result, I slept on the wrong bed and my belongings were thrown away by the person who actually had the bed. (yes it is the literally ‘be thrown away’, when I returned to the dorm, I found all of my belongings scattering on another bad and the floor)
In the end, when I checked out and asked for the deposit I paid for borrowing the hair dryer, the staff told me that there should be a letter including my room number and the deposit amount. Unfortunately, the black hair lady didn’t write a letter for me, so I lost 5 euros and there was no solution or compensation for the several problems I encountered.
Furthermore, during the days that stayed in this hotel, the room was never cleaned and there were a lot of dust as well as hair in our room.

The room was clean and the services ok. Biggest problem was that the power outlets were not working. Which was really bothersome since we could charge our devices only on public areas. The staff was nice but when we did our check-out, the male staff member was a bit rude, that's the reason the review went from 3 to 2 stars.

I have lived in Berlin for the past year and I had to stay in a hostel for a weekend inbetween flats. I can say this is not an ideal areas compared to others in Berlin. It may be cheaper but it's far away from anything particularly interesting. The rooms were not properly cleaned during the time and from before I arrived. There was hair all over the room from guests before me. It was fortunate that I had the room to myself for two out of the three nights. It's advertised there are self catering facilities but there's a microwave and you have to ask for hot water. There are supermarkets near by but not a fridge to store food. There's also not many good food places nearby to eat at.

I stayed over two weeks in this friendly place. A appreciate the simplicity and clearness of the well designed building which I explain my friends as "Bauhaus style". It's the greatness of the concept to offer such a quality for a low price. It is possible because you focus on what is essential. Who likes a bar, carpets and pictures in his room could easily have it for 90, 00 or 150, 00 € a night. The critics should appreciate the simplicity, as I do. As others also mentioned: the ventilation of the bathrooms is not sufficient. Perhaps a sign asking guests to leave the door open after using the bathroom could help in the short term. Long-term improvement may be necessary through ventilation slots or stronger active ventilation. Best hostel I know! You meet interesting people from all over the world and it's pleasant to sit in the lounge.
