We traveled from Paris and into Gordes on March 12, 2020. We arrived by train and rented a car from the train station. The outside space is beautiful and welcoming as soon as you drive into the chateau. There are sitting areas outside and every afternoon/early evening we would soak up the sunshine for a few hours. The entire home is sparkling clean. The bedroom we had was spacious and clean, offering our own private bathroom as well. The pool was not open as it was too cold, but I can only imagine how wonderful it is in the summer. There is a beautiful pool house equipped with sauna and lounge chairs. Breakfast was abundant and offered quite a selection of French pastries, bread, yogurt, cheeses, smoked salmon, dried fruits & granola, coffee & tea…. The list could go on and on. We definitely did not go hungry! There is a bar on site that is self serve and on the honor system. It is fully stocked with a large variety of local wines. During your stay, take a ride to one of the local wineries. You won't be disappointed! Jean-Luc and Virginie were excellent, welcoming and hospitable. They gave us ideas and recommendations on things to see and do during the day. For evenings, we were given some great restaurant options. The Outsider and La Bastide de Pierres restaurants in Gordes were amazing. Gordes is a quick walk away so you do not have to worry about driving there. There is a small market in town too for any groceries you would want. Travel during this time was very interesting. Coronvarius was spreading rapidly, much more rapidly than anyone could have imagined, through Europe. Originally, we were supposed to travel with a group of 12 people. Everyone else cancelled and to our surprise, and also our relief, the entire chateau was ours for the 3 nights we were supposed be there. On the morning we were supposed to leave and head to the next chateau, my husband and I were apprehensive. We were unsure of who we would be sharing our new quarters with, and we had grown to love the comfort (and safety) of Domaine de l'Enclos. Long story short, Jean-Luc offered for us to stay out our remaining days in France there if we felt more comfortable. For the additional days, we cooked our own food from the market in the spacious and well equipped kitchen, enjoyed the game room, and took advantage of exploring the outdoor space. Jean-Luc and Virginie went above and beyond in terms of services and showed us hospitality and friendship during an unpredictable time. We are hoping that we will be able to return very soon and can't wait to spend more time in our new favorite place!
