Beautiful hotel with a nice decoration, friendly staff, pity there is no parking and the only downside the very small beds, coffee stains on the walls but I'm casiment on that it's a forgetting…

Great stay. The spa at the top just lacks a bubbling bath. I recommend.

Great hotel to stay at. Near to station and Metro so easy to get around Marseille. Hotel modern and well appointed. Staff are very welcoming and friendly and speak excellent english. We stayed in a junior suite with balcony so lots of room and lovely to sit out and enjoy the sunshine in the evenings. Look forward to returning.

The Alex Hotel is one of a kind. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. The rooms were very clean and modern. Now they even have a small lounge/bar area that is great for relaxing after a long day of walking around the city. The hotel is right across from the train station, which means you don’t have to carry your luggage far. If you don’t want to walk to the port, you can take the Metro (M) from the train station to the port and back. If I go back to Marseille, I would definitely stay here again!

Great little hotel. Perfect location for travelling by train and not far from the port by foot. Very comfortable and friendly. Staff provide and excellent service and are very friendly and helpful. The bar and patio is lovely and this is where you meet and chat to all the other guest when they all return in the evening from exploring and dinner, such a lovely atmosphere. Rooms are very clean and comfortable, rooms overlooking the courtyard are very quiet. A great home away from home and a great place to return to in the evening after a long day exploring Marseilles and the surrounding areas.

We had an incredible experience here! I arrived after a long day of driving by myself to meet my husband at this hotel. On the way I had my wallet stolen and was incredible upset and flustered. Aurelian (sorry if the spelling is incorrect! ) was unbelievably supportive. He and his coworker got me some water, sat me down with the hotel phone so I could call my US card companies to cancel my cards and had me laughing and smiling by the time I headed up to our hotel room. I am so grateful for all their help! The hotel room was perfect and had a fantastic view of the roof tops over the city.

Amazing experience. I loved the modern rooms with up-to-date and fun decor. The air conditioning was heavenly after being outside in the humidity all day. The patio area where we ate breakfast was a hidden oasis; it was peaceful and the food was delicious. The french toast was soft and sweet and made to order. I enjoyed all the beverage choices as well: detox tea, orange juice, and an automated espresso machine that produced creamy cappuccinos. The hotel is conveniently located too. It is right across the street from the train station. This was really helpful when we arrived tired after a long train ride from Spain. We also rented a car at Enterprise that was just around the corner from the hotel. All of the staff were kind, helpful, and willing to guide us and help when needed. I highly recommend this hotel. It was my favorite during my 10-day European vacation.

Great location for the train station and only a short walk to the port area. The hotel staff were very helpful and the rooms well equipped with a nice big bathroom. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Our stay at Alex Hotel was such a good experience. The interior design and layout of the room was very chic and comfortable. It is rare to see the owners managing the reception, and they were so professional and personal at the same time. All the staff had a wide knowledge of Marseille, which allowed us to enjoy this town so much. We enjoyed their breakfast, pancakes and omelettes definitely hit the spot. We also enjoyed a few drinks at the lounge. Highly recommend this place if you are visiting Marseille. The hotel is just 10minutes from the train station.

The Alex Hotel was a great stop for a quick overnight stay in Marseille. It is so convienent to the train station (literally across the street). The staff were very warm and accommodating to us after a long day of travel. American travelers may find the rooms a bit tight but it was comfortable, clean, and cozy.

We loved our stay at this clean and convenient boutique hotel. Staff was helpful and the continental breakfast was just what we needed before we left for our flight. We liked the modern design and location near the train station.

Just under four stars: Solid, clean, good location, right on the Metro, but otherwise not much to offer, room size compared to Paris good. Verdict: Price/performance super.

Great hotel with excellent location for train station and access to port. Delightful new wine bar connected to the hotel just opened. Breakfast was very nice with individually made omelets and French toast. Front desk staff were extremely helpful and very nice!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Alex. We needed a place close to the main train station and this was right across the street. It is a very attractive hotel with a boutique feel. The hotel is quite small and there are only a few rooms on each floor so noise from other hotel guests walking back and forth was not a problem. The room was on the small side, but it had what we needed. The bathroom was very large. We had breakfast there one morning which offered many options. The high point of the hotel, however, was Aurellien at the front desk. A charming, helpful person who couldn't have been nicer. We really enjoyed talking with him and appreciated all his tips and ideas. He's a great public face for the hotel.

We stayed one night at your hotel. We were greeted by Aurellien who quickly checked us in and gave us useful information about the hotel and surrounding areas. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. We appreciated Aurellien's advice on where to get a phone plan, where to eat and how to take the Metro to our next location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It is very well located by Metro and opposite Saint Charles station. The only one but I would put it is the tiny dimension of the room.

Fantastic service! All staff members went out of their way to take care of us. Our room was beautiful, clean, and quiet, even though it faced the main street. Breakfast was delicious. We would definitely stay here if we ever get back to Marseille. I hope we do get back, it was a great city to visit, and the hotel was excellent.

The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. They will gladly accept luggage and offer a cup of coffee upon arrival. My room was in a small separate building, at the back of the hotel (access by a small inner course) … the ultimate in tranquility! The bedding is extremely comfortable and the heating (Airco) worked very well.
The bathroom was a bit small but very good though.

This a lovely small hotel very near the Marseille railway station. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room comfortable, and the breakfast was very nice too.

This hotel is a little oasis situated near the station. The staff were some of the best we have experienced. Friendly, knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms weren't large but had everything we needed for our stay. Comfortable beds and our room at the back was very quiet. At the time of writing this (September 2017) some alterations were being done to the next door property but with it being a weekend we didn't hear anything. Like most cities the area around the station isn't always the best, but don't let that put you off.

The room was lovely — air conditioned and clean. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, especially since I was staying on my own for a while. The breakfast was great — plenty of choice, including some freshly made potions. The location is very central, but close to the train station. A really nice place to stay!

Just a wonderful boutique hotel. The decor is very chic and contemporary. The bed was very comfortable. The buffet breakfast has a broad selection of options, including omelettes. This hotel is very conveniently located walking distance from the train station and a nice walk to the marina. This was a great choice for our one night stay in Marseille.

The rooms were fine. Clean and small with very few amenities. I thought it was a little weird that we had to order breakfast the night before if we wanted any food in addition to the buffet. We also wanted water on a Sunday and they only have a vending machine that accepts euro coins, which we didn't have. They wouldn't exchange $ and on a Sunday, there's nowhere to exchange money. I offered to pay for the water bottles that the housekeeper puts in your room the first day (1 bottle), but they would not let us charge that to the room. That really left a bad taste in our mouth (literally and figuratively! ) I also felt the neighborhood was pretty seedy. The photos online are a bit deceiving as the cute courtyard shot is not what the front of the hotel looks like despite some advertisements suggesting otherwise. We would not stay here again.

Very convenient to the train station and rental car office. The hotel had everything we needed. Safe for valuables, blow dryer, closet, TV, hot pot with coffee and tea. Breakfast not included, so we went elsewhere. We stayed in the back building and it was very quiet.

We booked the Alex Hotel because of reviews and proximity to the train station, and were not disappointed. Beautifully decorated and maintained, it was a very comfortable one-night stay before flying home. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, the room small but quiet and comfortable, and above all the staff was top-notch. Everyone we met was friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We got an excellent dinner recommendation and helpful advice about getting to the airport. Highly recommend!

Staff friendly and helpful especially after arriving in the early hours of the morning after a delayed train from Barcelona. Rooms are compact but are clean and modern with all amenities. The rainforest shower was wonderful, and the most comfortable bed in all our accommodations so far. Good range of items for breakfast and a cooked to order choice of waffles, pancakes and French toast was a bonus. Location was very good, especially if you are travelling to Marseille by train. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys a boutique hotel at a reasonable price.

I would highly recommend for a travel pro or personal. The welcome is warm, the rooms are comfortable and quiet, the bathroom is very nice and well equipped. The breakfast is delicious (fresh/home made). A true moment of relaxation!

Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Convenient location, right next to the train station. Recently renovated facilities are modern and comfortable. Our room was quiet. We were on an upper floor and had a small balcony that offered a breathtaking view over the rooftops of Marseille. We would definitely go back to the Alex Hotel.

Hotel spotless, the staff is the small treatments for you. The rooms are spacious, smell good and the bedding is very good. Spacious bathroom also. Deco is neat. High-speed Internet non-bridled unlike the other hotel in general. Only downside the breakfast although it is of very good quality is a bit expensive 13 euros but all of the services we the fact.

Very friendly hotel, right next to the main station served by regional/international trains as well as the local metro lines. Easy 15 min walk down to the harbour. Feels like a slightly dicey area. Great bed, fresh and original decor. Room could have done with a kettle, even though they allow you to make coffee in the lobby, sometimes you just want a cuppa in your room.

Great stop over hotel. It was literally across the street from the train station. The Alex hotel sign was lit up so we had no problems find this hotel late at night. The hotel doors were lock when we arrived. It was still no problem once we rang for the clerk to let us in. He also spoke good English. The room was clean. It was also very small. But we were only there for one night.

Amazing staff, comfortable room, close proximity to the train station. Pros: Staff is extremely nice and will take awesome care of you. Rooms are spacious enough, nice view out the window. Fairly quiet (sometimes you could hear noise from outside or from the road depending on the time of day). Cons: Need to walk about 10 — 15 minutes to get to the main port. The location is not very touristy.

The hotel is just in front of the Marseille St Charles train station, which is really handy!
The deco is really nice in the lobby and most of the parts. In the rooms, it is much more sober.
The view from the room is really cute, the rooftops of Marseille.
The bed is very comfortable.
The shower is very convenient to use between the rainshower shower head and temperature. I think it's important to notify because I feel it takes a degree of engineering in some hotels to take a shower.

The breakfast is very good, with fresh fruit and especially a true squeezed oranges juice! It's pretty rare to find in hotels 3 * to point out. It's also very nice to eat on the patio and enjoy the beautiful morning sun.
The price is very affordable.
My room smelled a bit the sewers and so I had to leave my window open all night.
The shower door was broken.
The shower is very small. Difficult not to bump the door / wall when one washes her hair or shave the legs (may also be the reason why the door was broken…).

Remarkably clean and properly run establishment, in a city where many others at the same price range present untouchable offerings. Amazing windows with perfect sound isolation, silent airconditioner, large bathroom, comfortable bed, rich breakfast. Importantly, perfectly accessible and suitable for a wheelchair user. Staff very experienced and courteous Definitely the place for next time.

The hotel is very nice, right in front of the station, where there is also the Metro. However with a nice walk of 15 minutes you activate the old port. Modern hotel, room comfortable, functional and well taken care of 2, though small. In our triple (102) the toilet was separate from the bathroom. Receptionist very kind. You can reserve a parking space in front of the hotel for € 14 per day. Recommended.

The staff were excellent. Rooms were clean and stylish. Extremely comfortable bed! Great shower! Next to the train station and an easy walk to points of interest. Still very quiet in the room. Air conditioning did not work well at night. And the one American news channel on the TV did not work, even though we called the front desk. We would stay here again!

An ideal location to visit Marseille hotel decoration design and elegant, which really changes the usual well-known chains that can be found everywhere. The team of the hotel is really friendly with customers: very available, good advice, charming and smiling. Kudos to them! The bedding is of excellent quality. The breakfast is excellent and excellent. I recommend warmly!

The stay at Alex Hotel has been great. Ideal location to arrive by train. The front desk staff, Aurelien and Nicholas, have been very attentive. We kept the suitcase up to the time of entry to the hotel and we were able to go sightseeing. The breakfast in the garden, with the personalized attention of Alfonso has been great. We made a tortilla, and a few cakes with egg, bread, milk and orange blossom exquisite. The hotel is a true oasis in the middle of a neighborhood gradient. The proximity to the station does not pose any problem. Very comfortable room, clean and quiet.

Excellent hotel for quick stop over near train station. They were so kind and helpful at front desk. The rooms are clean and well appointed. Bed super comfortable. Didn't eat breakfast but it looked good and varied with many selections. I did not give 5 stars only because we had trouble with the A/C. Called front desk and they came but we had gotten it working again but it seemed to cycle off all night long on it's own and it required getting up and restarting the program.

Excellent small hotel with first class service just near the main train station and only 10 minutes away from the old port. Quiet despites beside main road. Very helpful and friendly staff, great free coffee ans newspapers (in French) in the lobby. Had a plesant stay and can definitively recommend further.

Great location opposite the train station for access by car or by train. This is a ten minute walk from the old Port and la Canebière. Hotel is very new and comfortable with friendly staff and good advice for finding a good table. High-performance Wi-Fi, Iphone home + pregnant station. Breakfast was good.

Usually hotels near railway stations are horrible, but this hotel is lovely. Good value, a superb location especially for anyone arriving or leaving by train, spotlessly clean, friendly staff and tasty breakfasts. The rooms are small by the standards of Germany or the USA, but no smaller than a similarly priced hotel in Paris, London etc. The only thing that would help is some kind of table, even if it just folded from the wall.

The Junior Suite was perfect for traveling with a baby—pocket doors made it easy to create a little nursery. Other highlights were the very helpful staff, nice location, and charming details like being able to choose the color of our room. Would definitely book again!

Great little Hotel, well placed beside St Charles Rail Station and Underground. It was smart and clean and the Staff were extremely nice and helpful. I would have no hesitation in using it again and I recomended it to anyone.
