Amazing location, near many metro lines. Rooms are a little snug, no A/C but they provide a fan and the windows open. Breakfast is a good deal.

Friendly, patient, outgoing staff; clean rooms; lovely building; good location. Be wary of the "citizen tax" which is standard but took me by surprise.

Place is near every thing, not very fancy but clean and cost is low.

Good hotel in a convenient location a stone's throw from Place de Republique. Very clean and quiet rooms. Helpful staff. Good breakfast Adequate prices.

Hotel a little old but practical nice and serious next to the place of the Republic.

I was booked and paid but he canceled my reservation when he saw my picture and my skin was brown … racist.

I didn't sleep all night. A lot of noise. Room that is no longer to the taste of the day.

Has all the basics a backpacker needs (not for you if you are a luxury traveler). Good location, hospitality and comfort. Wi-Fi speed was a bummer but who needs it when you have the outdoors to see.

I do not like the people who attended us, very rancid less the woman of the cleanliness and the one of the breakfast were the only pleasant people of the hotel … The small room did not please me very much the hotel how good you have next to the Metro.

This is a wonderful friendly hotel to use as your base. So close to everything and the staff have been very friendly and helpful. Would come back again.

I stayed there with my mother in December 2014. The lady at the reception was unbelievably rude to begin with; the other staff was nice and polite, but the aggressively nasty 1st impression by that female receptionist was as such as to have made me drop the reservation had I not been with my elderly mother… I didn't complain back then because I didn't want to cause the receptionist any trouble at the Christmas time, perhaps by now she's not there anymore; this is for management to be more vigillant. Moreover, the room caused us some bad respiratory effect possibly due to detergents or other chemicals used in the antiquated environment. We stayed 3 nights, negative experience especially compared with the nice stay I had had at a similar-star hotel in the Latin Quarter that same year.

DO NOT STAY HERE! WORST HOTEL, PICTURES DO NOT TELL THE TRUTH! Hotel is completely under construction, the walls are falling apart, I peeled back the covers and there was hair everywhere. Unsanitary. Terrible location, down an alley. Breakfast is served in a DUNGEON, pictures are VERY DECEIVING. Terrible, terrible, gross hotel.

Over 10 years of visiting Paris, I've stayed at hotels in most tourist areas of the city, Champs-Elysee, Place de Voges, Jardin du Luxembourg, Place des Vosgues, etc. All in this price range ($100-200). This one was the best for the value ($140). Importantly for me, it had the usual hotel conveniences that is NOT a norm for Paris hotels: phone in room, renovated bath, flat screen HD tv, closet space and even an in-room safe. I was in room 601 so it was quiet, enough room for 1, few steps to the metro, and a fun area to explore. (check out rue de Temple). The front staff was friendly and the manager even gave me a good price for 4 days. Only downside was having to pay for internet but even with that included in the price, it was a good value.

We booked a friday to monday trip with Opodo to Paris and had a nice time at the Hotel Meslay Republique. Our room was cleaned every day, beds made, towels changed daily also. The friendly staff was english speaking. The breakfast was allright, the coffee tastes well and there were enough croissants, rolls, kornflakes etc. To get full. You could also get some drinks and cookies down at the reception from an automat there was also a minibar (prices o. K. ) at our room. Round the corner there are different fast foods, cafes and also a nice steakhouse (prices o. K. Well tasting). The Hotel is about 50 meters from the place de la Republique, one of the first houses in a quiet street. Although we had our room on the first floor we were not disturbed by the traffic around the corner. The next Metro Station is about 80 meters away. We would again stay there on our next trip :-)
