Cargèse is a picturesque coastal village located in South Corsica, Corsica. Nestled between the rugged mountains and the crystal-clear Mediterranean Sea, this charming town offers a unique blend of natural beauty, rich history, and cultural diversity. One of the most striking features of Cargèse is its dual identity, as it is divided into two distinct districts. The older part of the town, known as "Cargèse Greek," was established in the 18th century by Greek refugees fleeing from the Ottoman Empire. The Greek influence is still evident in the architecture, with traditional white-washed houses and red-tiled roofs, reminiscent of the Greek islands. The newer district, "Cargèse Latin," was built in the 19th century and showcases a more typical Corsican style.
