We stayed here for a week and would thoroughly recommend for friends or family. It is quite rural and we alternated between staying by the pool and sightseeing. The pool is lovely and warm and the adjacent poolhouse has a fully equipped kitchen where you can store your food and use the fridge/microwave or oven. A couple of nights we bought cheese baguettes and wine and simply relaxed by the pool. There are many chateaus to visit. We went to Bourges de Chateau (5-10 mins) Chateau de Chenonceau (1 hr 20 mins) and Chateau Valency (30 mins) which were all lovely and worth a trip. Poulaines Arbororeum isnt worth a trip as not much there. We went by train. Eurostar then Gare d'Austerlitz to Vierzon and hired a car. This was a 30 min trip to the Chateau. If you do this the little office is on the platform and the car is in the train station car park. If I went again id probably fly one way from stansted to tours and drive the 90 mins.
Back to the chateau Anastasia the host was lovely. She speaks fluent English and is very helpful. The breakfasts are lovely and we had 2 fab dinners there. CHicken rice and ratatouille with cheese and dessert. The room on the first floow was a familr room and 2 adjoining rooms which worked very well. There were 3 single beds in one and a double in the other with a fan. The highlight for my animal-obsessed son were the 2 cats who love children and the 2 donkeys called Domino and Homer. Anastasia gave my son stale bread and veg peelings to feed them every day.
The chateau is surrounded by fields and a lot are full of sunflowers. There are deer running around as well and the only sounds is often birdsong. Very highly recommended. Julie x.
