Extremely noisy rooms, no Wi-Fi (despite ads to the opposite), derelict state, very average breakfast, bad service (reception doesn't respond). Def not a 5 star hotel.

I was stolen in this hotel. I left the room for 40 minutes in the morning, and it was enough for someone to get in the room to check the mini bar for the check-out, and part of my money that was in my bag (well hidden) was gone…

If you’re looking for a truly authentic 5 star hotel and not a highly updated one, this is the place. I can stay in a modern hotel anywhere I go, but I’m Rome I wanted the experience and I wanted it to be antique. I hit the nail on the head. The rooms are old and authentic while the rest of the hotel is authentic and spectacular! The staff is kind and very accommodating. Only one issue. Our TV didn’t work. But overall, fantastic experience! We’re right in the city center and couldn’t have asked for a better location!

I feel very safe and comfortable in this hotel I have just booked with them for the third time. This is an old school amazing location that can be seen in many films. It has a nice bar witch is great for having local friends or business associates meet up with me. Staff has always been great with me, but I do my best to be kind and polite to locals when I travel so this is often my experience. There breakfast buffet in the AM. Is lovely but I prefer to go for a walk/run at the nearby Villa Borghese park and grab an espresso at one of the many awesome cafes you find in your path after. Other guests I have encountered there are often Italian Actors or Politicians. The neighborhood is outstanding your surrounded by the best classic Roman restaurants, bars and shopping. Everything you need is within walking distance.

This was probably the worst hotel I’ve been to! We can not call it 5 stars hotel at all. The staff at the reception were so rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful! The services at this hotel: Wifi connection is so poor. No tissues in the room, they serve only a pocket tissues! No adapter. Housekeeping service is so bad and slow. No helpful concierge at all. This hotel needs better management…!

The only thing what is nice about this hotel is location. They have as well nice rooftop terrace but its hard to get free sofa as there is not much of them. Hotel doesn’t deserve 4 starts. Its very old but you can’t feel the spirit of it. Every room has door to the next room. This mean you can hear your neighbors. I recommend to not buy breakfast there as its not worth 30 Euro. Very few choices and some food was not 100% fresh. You have to wait 15 min until they fill up new eggs tray. Better to eat breakfast in any cozy place near hotel.

Great location as everything is located literally 20 min walk to all the attractions. The Grand Hotel Plaza has a lot of history and unique design to its credit. Shopping Restaurants n supermarkets all a few minutes away However it seems to have lost its charm due to few issues. The reception and lobby area can get a bit busy as they don't have a dedicated check in and check out area. The rooms are generally large and airy. We had three rooms however all varied in size and Facilities The rooms are generally clean and have traditional furniture and the rooms have been modified for air-conditioning The bathroom also are fairly large yet need more thought into the design. The flat screen TV was small 32 inch and needs to be updated. No tea coffee making facilities or an iron board The hotel has a grand ballroom with some lovely ornate work in the ceilings and lovely chandeliers. However it doesn't seem to in daily use and a shame that no effort is made to show off this historical area of the hotel Other issues are the Internet and the air-conditioning (not at par). The plus side the hotel staff are generally helpful. Thanks to Ana from Concierge who was very nice efficient and helpful in organising a day tour to Florence. A memorable trip So if you are keen to be in the centre of town and enjoy a stay that has a lot of history and you don't mind not having a gym or pool, then it's fine hotel.

The room itself was OK… Didn't feel like a 5 star though… Hard mattress and pillows. But typical in many Rome hotels. We checked for bedbugs just in case… none. Linens were pressed and bright white… no stains. The hotel itself was a 5 star in the breakfast buffet (discounted when purchased while booking your room — — a bargain well worth it with supreme selections and variety and polished servers) lobby, staff service, beautiful stained glass windows, marbled staircase and bathroom, ornate painted ceilings/walls in dining area and elevator… Definitely luxurious from a time past and unmatched today. Terrace was gorgeous with beautiful views. No swimming pool. Very old building. Taxis readily available across the street. This is a necessity! You don't want to drive in Rome! Taxis will return you to the airport for departure for only 48 Euros through arrangements with the hotel. They can also provide one for picking you up on arrival for the same price. Otherwise, be prepared to pay twice that much. You will be so tired from going up and down steps all day and walking on cobblestones everywhere, the hard pillows and mattress are hardly noticed. Exercise and strengthen your leg muscles to prepare for this beautiful city. I liked it more than Paris. It is cleaner than Paris as well. Give this hotel a try if you have an appreciation for charm and character. It sparkles.

I have been reading the reviews online and a lot of them are negative, but this hotel is really not that bad! In fact the hotel rooms are new and overall the experience are very good! Staffs are very helpful and it's very clean, if you want a new hotel of course you are not looking for here, this building built at the 1860s. I came here because I wanted to experience Rome's culture. It is even better than I expected in overall. I would have gave this hotel 5 stars but the air conditioner broke down middle of the night, bight side is the staff came in and repaired it in 30 minutes. I wouldn't mind that honestly.

Five star luxury hotel but not deserved. Hard bed uncomfortable shower, in a 5 star luxury there is the room rearrangement for the night and instead here you are not seeing anyone. We came a weekend in Rome for my 50th birthday and I was expecting something more, room without air conditioning when out there are 28 degrees. I would not recommend to anyone this hotel.

Frankly I have nothing to say I move a lot in Europe for me personally to find the same hotel rates and services impossible I love I love I love.

Beautiful lobby area, very good breakfast. But I prefer Nazionale, which is not far. Breakfast is better and closer to sights and to giolitti.

In the famous Via del Corso is a historic Hotel of great atmosphere and importance. Very close to all the most important monuments of Rome and to the international shopping streets of luxury.

Old world elegance is what immediately strikes you as you enter the revolving door of this 150 year old hotel. You'll be taken back in time with the intricate interiors of this charming hotel. There are numerous paintings everywhere and the drawing / bar room is impressive. The rooms are comfortable with foyers and brightly lit toilets. Beds are comfortable too.

Nice and definitely a piece of history but for the prices I was expecting the best rooms.

A bit of a mean score. I would have given it a 3.5 if possible. For a 5 star hotel it's all a bit rough round the edges. Carpets fraying, paint in rooms worn, bathroom not cleaned thoroughly, tiles in shower still had soap marks from prior guests that still hadn't been cleaned by the time we left. The staff are friendly and helpful and the communal area downstairs is incredible, pop your head just see this if your in town.

Full center You can visit everything on foot after C is an old palace with its inconvenient and its advantages.

It is well located but it does not have many amenities. The room that we touched had no safe. The products for showering and washing hair are not good. There is bad smell inside the elevators and in the atmosphere. I wouldn't go back. He's overqualified. Added to the minibar has bad smell and drinks are not cold.

Very good location. Right at the heart of the shopping street. Walking distance from spanish steps, trevi fountain. Staff was super friendly & helpful. Of course the building itself has aged, perhaps not in ita best condition. Its 150 years old. Rooms need an upgrade. Its really old. The sofa is in bad condition. Beds are huge but has aged as well. Housekeeping needs to do a better job. Carpets are dusty. Breakfast is not good. Very little choice. Pro : the staff, location. If you like historical buildings. Cons: hotel is not greatly maintained, breakfast need more choices, if you like a better rooms option more comfy beds, perhaps another hotel is your choices nearby.

If it was a 2 star hotel I would be delighted, but pay what we have paid for a crappy room, with all old from the door, carpeting, spring mattress, pillow like chunks of foam rubber… it looks like a scam. Really, look for another Hotel nearby because that if, the hubicacion is excellent. I do not understand that has 5 stars L.

This was our second trip to Rome and my wife insisted on splurging on a 'Ritzy' suite this time (Yes, it was my wife's fault! ). Our room was The room rate we paid was 550 Euros per night (The rate card on the door was 450 Euros — — but they said that was wrong — —? ) The Problems & Defects: 1) The bed from Hell! — — Seriously, this was the very worst bed I have ever slept on in my whole life; and that includes couches and bare floors! It was like sleeping on a trampoline. Every time my wife would turn over, I felt like was going to bounce out of the bed. The 4" thick mattress had absolutely no sub-frame — — just bouncy springs. 2) The room was in a sad state of decay and poor maintenance: The white wall paint streaked onto wooden floor as if it had been painted by a child. Pieces had been cut out of the floor and replaced with ill-matching scraps of wood. The old frayed runner in hallway was bowed out of shape. While the bathroom had one of those fancy bidets, it did not have a single shelf to put one's toiletries on, which caused my wife to growl. The furnishings on our deluxe veranda consisted of cheap dodgy yellow plastic chairs, badly stained and weathered. 3) As usual, I forgot to bring my universal electrical plug, so I trotted down to the front desk and asked to borrow an electrical plug. They said they had one left and that they were going to charge me 20 Euros (They cost 60 to 80 cents in the USA. ). I told them that I could buy 30 of them for that price.

I booked a room for attractive price of about 200 euro per night. Nothing seemed strange as there was a note about the room which was supposed to be standard 5star-hotel-room. What I got was old, worn out, stained, falling apart, with hole in bathroom wall and noisy as hell. I could literally hear my neighbours peeing. As the location is great and I only slept there I thought I can live with that but unfortunately housekeeping stole my gucci belt and ofcourse I was told that I must have lost it. Business corner practically doesn't exist. They have old dirty PC next to the reception but to print anything you have to email it to the reception and wait 20min for your printouts. The only advantage of this overpriced place is the location. Not a 5star.

Great hotel with a 19th century elk. A beautiful hall with a painted ceiling, a feeling that you have moved into the past. The room was clean, we noticed that we had a honeymoon, eventually a bottle of prosecco was expected in the room. Very comfortable bed and excellent location.

Very nice hotel, but lack of attention and service to the room.

Rooms were large, but beds were hard as a rock, wallpaper was coming off the walls, and there was no enclosed area to shower. In addition, my shoes were stolen from my room. Needless to say, we will not be returning. Previously, we stayed in an Airbnb in the same area which was less expensive and absolutely amazing!

My experience in this hotel was so bad, I actually felt the need to write this as my first hotel review. This hotel can by no means be called a 5stars hotel. The staff at the reception was so unprofessional and disrespectful. Don't be fooled by the luxurious lobby, the rooms aren't as nice as one would expect them to be.

No doubt that the ground floor is amazing to look at. Staff were polite and friendly on reception. Night manager was really good. Breakfast staff were grumpy and tried to make it my fault that my room number was not their list. How is that my fault? Breakfast is nothing like breakfast in a 5 star hotel — not even close. I stayed two nights and room was not cleaned once. Mini bar not restocked. Only 1 of each type of towel. Room on 4th floor was badly maintained. Bathroom and especially shower was dirty with years of grime. Paint falling off walls. Bed like a prison bed. No ironing service unless you wait until 8am and no ironing in room is permitted. If you are travelling on business, avoid this hotel. There are so many better hotels in Rome which don't have any of these problems.

Good hotel a little neglected for the potential.

Great place in the center of Rome although in some respects a bit pricey.

I have a booking for three rooms for one night, in two of the room the bathrooms are a miss you take a shower and the bathroom turns into a swimming pool in the third room the air condition is not working I call the front disk an personally talk to them twice" we will send some one" was the best they did, the TVs were not working in all three rooms until they sent the handy man and they have no special chanels. For the 3 rooms I paid close to 1200 Euros. The rooms are large though.

Good location and nice hotel. The Superior Room we got was good. The breakfast was very good, considering European standards. Housekeeping was attentive and excellent. The staff were helpful and polite. Overall expensive.

Hotel is very old which added to its charm but felt dingy at times even though it's very clean. Staff is kind and helpful. Great location!. I would stay again. Valet parking was 50 eur a day so beware!

The halls on the ground floor are spectacular, and they manage — alone — to make a memorable stay at this hotel.
Also the location is very convenient if you want to stay in the heart of Rome.

My room (but in general the hotel) exudes an aura of "scruffy", which unfortunately goes beyond the pleasantness of preserving ancient things, at the cost of some imperfection.
And so carpet and carpets emanate a bit of bad smell, the toilet seat is broken and "swings" uncomfortable, the shower loses water, the TV is old and with few channels, the pillows are uncomfortable (the bed however no: very valid), and so on…
The staff are friendly and willing, but the service has so many smudges, so at breakfast you easily miss some staid at the tables, and wait 50 minutes a club-sandwich in the room (with an estimated 20 minutes).
The Wi-Fi didn't take me to my room, and sadly not even the phone… so stay isolated.
and other small (but numerous) trip, which however create a general atmosphere of decay, and a certain inconvenience.
A shame, because the potential of the hotel is remarkable.

Loved the hotel, good location — / / / /but the service is terrible. We arrived at 14.00 as usual for the settlement. Settled at 16.30. Things in the room on brought. The staff ignores the guests. At the checkout they demanded money for our own water. No one came for the luggage. It's just creepy. There is no service.

First review for a hotel and I am displeased enough to make such an effort. Doesn't match up to 5stars at all. Booked this hotel for a company trip and the hotel only has 1 ironing board (a very dirty one at that), kettle costs 35euros, lack of consistency in the rooms (some had no hot water for bathing, no toilet roll holder, plugs did not work, lack of Wi-Fi in some rooms), thin walls, badly needs refurbishing, weak breakfast and I was not pleased with the customer service at all. The hotel messed up the room list. Only informed us about the Rome marathon the day we are there which hindered our plans. The day I checked in, they gave me the key to a room that was still being cleaned. The only good thing about the hotel would be the fantastic location. Was probably grand in its time but did not make efforts to improve itself. Do not recommend.

I can't believe I'll write my first negative review ever for the hotel I admired. My only experience with your hotel so far was the wedding I shot here in 2012, and I came back right now to grab a coffee at the bar and show this beautiful historical building to my girlfriend. The waiter (has no name tag) was extremely rude and literally laughed to her face when she asked for the directions to the toilet. Not only this is unacceptable for a hotel employee, but it's also hypocritical. You my friend (if you're by any chance reading this text), are an employee of the hotel in which we came as guests. Therefore your talking down at guests and laughing at their face is pretty much a misperception of positions between the two. You are here to serve us and be polite. I expected no more or less. It's as simple as this. Before your next shift when you look at yourself in the mirror remember this. Last time I checked at any hotel I used — guests aways come first. Luckily you were booked for our period of stay in Rome so we had to book an alternative place. I can assure you I won't be staying here or recommend you to anyone. This happened on April 10th at 4pm approximately. Thank you, Marko.

Regarding my sister's wedding dinner experience dating back to September 1999. Beautiful rooms, great hospitality. Was a great night to remember. Dinner truly exquisite everything fresh. Centerpieces very well done. After many years I have great memories.

Stayed in a room in the rear of the hotel and it was unbelievably loud all night. Just incessant street noise from the alley below. There was only one towel in the bathroom even though there were two of us. We stayed only one night and I definitely wouldn't have stayed another at this place.

Never lodge in the motel. Very a lot. The eerie hotel. Cockroaches, dirt, staff ham′e, ragged linens, ceiling of pokarežennoj plywood door into the tub is not closed, towels in lipstick, eerie noise from the Street through the window with slits.

I was at the Grand Hotel Plaza for an event. The room we stayed in was really nice, excellent quality even lunch.

We're all sick no heating in room because silk saying the city had not yet started…
The rooms are ugly and really expensive…
We also asked a nanny for 3 h and they we do pay 158 euros…
The bed was not possible noise and the little cot for baby or my daughter slept…
C is broken and they have never change an old cot all break just a shame c is not a 5 star c is a hotel — 5 stars…
Just the breakfast room is very nice… but that's says it took us to lunch with people at our table that we know not like at club Med.
In the end that's very bad experience hotel… ah another thing. Don't dream not of fat where windows are not even double…

The only good thing of this hotel is the location of the rest is never a 5 star hotel the room was in a bad state don't put no water to drink I asked for a room with a terrace and everything was rusted and the furniture, which at least where I was sitting had No Wi-Fi and claim and never did anything after I asked that I at least change the room and there were no interest in so the next day I left because I was not able to withstand one more day there! And I got one in the same area and beautiful!

As soon as you step inside, you will realize this is not what you imagined. The room is very small and smelly, and you don't want to get any part of your body to be touched by the couch and bed sheet, and it's full of mosquitos. It seems like you're in a prison. If you're looking for a place for suicide, this would be the perfect place, otherwise do not waste your money and time in this crappy hotel. Hi GM, if you have time to read and reply all negative comments here, pls use the time to make actual improvement. Your hotel is a nightmare and the worst memory of my trip to Italy. A wonderful hotel to anyone who wants to make from a trip to Rome a perfect time. The hotel's beauty is indescribable — is overwhelming. For everywhere we look there is refinement, beauty and art … the well-being I felt in the main room far surpassed the pleasure of visiting some museums and monuments. The entire staff is incredibly friendly and kind. Cleanliness is excellent. Being an old hotel (which is good) it is natural that there is one or another detail that can be improved, but of course … in a hotel of this size upgrades are a constant. Personally, I have nothing to point that may have been a nuisance to me, on the contrary. It was a memorable stay, especially for my eyes. I cannot imagine returning to Rome and not stay in this hotel. (I spent almost a week here. Was I very lucky? I don't think so! )

Faded glory writ large. Desk staff efficient but cold and unwelcoming. Extended our stay elsewhere. What a contrast in every way and a third of the price.

It is not a 5 star hotel. You do not have room service 24 hs and instalacionrs are in a deplorable state. To please have the location and what has already been said on the staff. Excessive prices for what it offers.

Beautiful hotel in Rome with horrible staff. They put my belongings in the toilet! The manager made sure to send me up some fruit to make up for it after telling me that he had a bad experience in America. Clearly he has issues with Americans. I say Do NOT Waste your hard earn money. After reading more reviews on them, they have had issues with staff stealing valuables. Smh.

Stayed last summer of course it was 90+F the whole time. Air Conditioning in rooms did not work at all. It is neat to see but very old. It was OK.

Went there during summer. The A. C's were not working and it was all forgettable. It used yo be much better before.

A wonderful hotel in Rome.
The hotel was the best starting point for our inspection of Rome — and others. Also about hotels.
It should be like old historical palaces with your small mistakes, such as slight error (chipped by reinstalling) in the marble from the 1800 century which has survived as part of the original, but was equipped with modern fittings, etc.
We have in May last year spent 4 wonderful days, competent and friendly, we were advised. (The ladies are too reserved very friendly — the masters! )
The House itself is already an impressive Museum. The breakfast room, the reception room and our room no. 321 — wonderful! We had a large 26 sqm rooms, nice bathroom and an own terrace — 15 sqm — — — heart of Rome!
We are looking for this year in October or November Hotel Rome again the GrandPlaza definitely!.
General criticisms are disrespectful, then should you designate the points exactly, so that management can act!
Okay — pillows are too huge to me, for I have my own at the next visit.
The terrace at the hotel overlooking the rooftops of Rome is gigantic — — we were there in the evening alone (! ) — — with a nice bottle of Pinot.
The other guests rushed through the city — breathless — — and saw and see not what is the Grand Plaza Hotel for a jewel.

Amazing hotel wonderful location the best hotel in italy that I ever stayed in.

Positives — Clean and spacious room with small but pretty terrace that allows the bells of the vatican to be heard in the morning. The building itself is in a great location. Negatives — Rather indifferent staff (even more so for italians) and a lack of small added extras one would expect for the rooms price.

The website looks pretty impressive so I booked 2 rooms for a holiday. Later I read bad reviews about the service and accommodation and decided that, since this was to be our last holiday before our first baby arrives, we should cancel the room and book elsewhere. I cancelled the rooms 3 days after the initial booking before any money had been taken from my account. 3 days after cancelling the full payment for the rooms was taken from my account. Their terms of business state that, for advance payment bookings they will refund 75% of the amount paid so long as you cancel over 24 hours in advance of the stay. I cancelled a month prior to our stay. Between my mother and I we have sent about 10 emails and have spoken to the hotel about 8 times to organise repayment and, now nearly a month after cancelling, still nothing has arrived. They have been offensively rude, keep promising that they will email me back but still I have had no communication back from them. Fortunately, I have had email proof that they have read my emails. I would not touch this place with a barge pole. I only hope this review can avoid others getting into the same predicament. Next stop will be the solicitors office.
