September 3rd — 9th 2017 Good and Bad Overall I was disappointed with this particular resort, in comparison to others I have visited in the DR. First with the good, our butler Angel was the greatest. Alejandro at the swim up preferred club pool was great, Nelson at the beach bar was great, Youyanni at the preferred club check in was great. The Hurricane evacuation plan was well put together and executed in a calm demeanor. Well Done. The bad, upon arrival to my ocean front, preferred club, master suit, not only was the refrigerator not stocked, it didn’t work. The refrigerator was eventually replaced and stocked. The promised fresh fruit and snacks, did not exists. The wet bar door was broken, the first attempt at repairing it, last all of 3 seconds, The second attempt finally worked, once I explained what should have been obvious. You cannot put stripped screws back in the same stripped holes. The outside Jacuzzi leaked water all over the patio, when we attempted to fill it, never was able to use it by the way. When forced to move for Hurricane Safety reasons we were moved to a room that was not the equivalent of what we paid for. Even after the evacuation was lifted and we were told we had been cleared, I had to request three times, to be moved back to what I paid for or refund me. It’s amazing how fast things come open, when you ask for a refund. From being told, no one is allowed to return to the 1st floor facing the ocean, to nothing else the size of what you have is available, to having the same room half ready in one hour. As if I was blind to the fact, the resort used the original 1st floor rooms to store beach chairs and such items, until the Hurricane passed through. The food at Now Onyx resort was less than mediocre, the more decent food was at the Breathless resort next door. If you’re looking for seafood, be prepared to pay an additional $60 per person for lobster, on top of what you have already paid for preferred club. Such a rip off. The preferred club status is really not worth the additional money, you don’t receive anything exceptional and there are no wrist bands, or checking to see who is and who is not. There were couples from the Breathless resort in what was supposed to be the preferred club pool for Now Onyx members. The bad with this experience definitely outweighed the good, not even including the necessary evacuation of Hurricane Irma’s possibility. I will go back to the DR, because it is such a beautiful county, but I will not return to Now Onyx. There is so much more I can say, but I think I have gotten my point across.
