Sercotel Club Cayo Guillermo Hotel

Nice clean room, good food, staff is very friendly. It is a quiet resort, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sun and beach. It is wonderful to watch the kite surfers on the beach. We are just back from a third wonderful visit at this resort. (March 10-17, 2020)

Was really impressed by the service, the food and the cleanliness of the hotel. A little old but they are putting in the effort to make it an amazing vacation spot. Plenty of towels, variety of food, nice animation and the à la carte restos actually impressed me for Cuba. I definitely recommend this hotel for a family vacation!

Great staff very friendly and welcoming. Met lots of awesome people. Had lots of fun and staff went the extra mile for us with exceptional service.

The staff go above and beyond here. The food was very good. And I never had to use any of my seasonings.
The beach is gorgeous with plenty of lounge chairs.
Entertainment was excellent with something different each night. During the day the entertainers have games to be played and they also teach some dance lessons. Bring toiletries, hair accessories for the ladies. Men appreciate razors, shaving cream and other toiletries.
I was here in October and it was a quieter month and very relaxing! I will be back in April! Until than keep smiling.

It is a beautiful place, where you can enjoy the Peace, when what you want because the beach has no equal. Clean sands, fine and beautiful fauna. I think it has very good Quality for the Price. In the night, good show, varied, and a small disco, where you dance and have fun. The employees are very friendly and really, the sales new. You have aspects to improve on infrastructure, but in general, the raisins well.

Very friendly staff and rooms cleaned daily. Pools and beach are stunning and we will visit again. Tip all the staff well they deserve it. Bring toiletries for the woman staff, they're very appreciative of makeup, hair products and toothbrushes.

Mosquito bites everyday day and night, inside the rooms and out. What kind of star hotel can’t afford to spray out anti-mosquito? The food was awful and boring and almost had no flavour, it appears even a salt and black peppers are luxury items here. They couldn’t even utilize their local resource, coconut. The buffet setup hall is old and serious Air Condition & mosquito issues. However, the staffs are amazing and friendly, they try their best to entertain the guests with shows day and night.

The staff is great and very friendly. The food is just as good as any we have had in Cuba. Quality/ price great resort especially for Kiteboarding.

Understand this resort caters to kite boarders. Thus the beach can be windy at times and covered in kites. If coming for kite boarding its amazing as it's a great place to learn with shallow water and an abundance of experienced kiters and instructors. For a non-kite board vacations would recommend another resort as this one is most popular with kite boarders due to it's location. The rooms and food is below average compared to the competing resort surrounding it.

Clean rooms. Awesome Beach. Great staff Hotel has everything you need. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are good sized and clean. Best section of beach in Cayo Guillermo. You can walk out 1/2 mile and still be only up to your waist. Nice sandy bottom and huge beach. Lots of sunbeds and pergolas available. Pools are amazing. Pool bar is close by and they make great Cuban sandwiches at the snack bar. Great job. Great nightly entertainment. Lobby Bar/Lounge features local musicians nightly before the main shows at 9:30. If you want a nice relaxing vacation at reasonable prices. This is the place. Thanks for the memories. Sercotel Club Cayo Guilermo.

I normally don't do reviews on places I stay, because I am not a fussy person because I am going to such a beautiful place, Cuba. But please beware that the photos of this hotel is not what it looks like at all. I just came back from my week stay on Thursday, and me and my friend were very disappointed in what we had to stay in. Booking two rooms because we booked separately we went into both rooms and was shocked about what we had paid for to be there. Not having clean towels, the walls and floors looked like they were never cleaned, and the fridge wouldn't work also the air conditioner didn't work and we didn't have a toilet seat. After making the decision about just staying together in the cleanest room we could find the front desk staff was beyond rude to us and favoured people that could talk Spanish, which I didn't and was learning how to. The serving staff picked the older people to serve that left us the younger ones that still where going to tip have to hunt people down just to get water. This place is not for younger people to stay at, or if they want to dance which it says they have a "disco" which they don't. Besides the resort I was inlove with the beach and the walk out deck. But before you spend money on this resort please read the reviews, which we didn't.

We just finished a week's stay in Cayo Guillermo, relaxed and enjoyed the resort and all it had to offer. The positives are strong. The location is stunning alongside an untouched beach which is perfect for kite surfing. Every morning we would sit and watch hundreds of kites racing up and down the shallow waters, and in the afternoon would venture out learning the trade under the guidance of Matteo, Luis and the Havana kite surfing school. The hotel entertainment staff laid on a variety of daily excursions including swimming with dolphins, speed boating, and horse riding. They couldn't have been more friendly. However the resort does look a little tired in places (albeit there was a hurricane last year and still repairs and being made). Lots of plastic in the bars and restaurants seems a little outdated and cheapens the experience. Lastly and not least, they need someone to come in and take control of the food. I am sure people would be very happy to pay more for a higher quality. We learnt to choose well and the other upsides of the resort balanced the frustration that the food and elements of the service need refreshing. All in all very good value for money and there is scope for improvement.

We just returned home from a week at Sercotel. The grounds were beautiful and we had no complaints about our room. We paid extra to upgrade to the prestige club only to arrive at the resort and find that they were upgrading people for only 8CUC at the resort per night which was much cheaper than what we paid to upgrade. We also did not receive any of the ‘benefits’ of the prestige club. There was no early check in, our rooms were not ready until 4pm. We did receive a bottle of rum in the room but that’s the only thing we actually got out of the upgrade. However, our fridge was never restocked. There was not a private pool. When we arrived we were told that they weren’t busy enough to open the restaurant and bar for the prestige club, however when I returned to Canada and came to this page I see that the bar and restaurant actually opened on Wednesday and we were never informed. I might stay at the resort again, but I absolutely would not upgrade to the prestige club again. Overall, we did have a good trip. Sergio makes the best rum punch! The food was good, the staff were friendly and the entertainment staff were phenomenal.

I’m giving this hotel 5 stars even though there are a few cons. It’s listed as a three to four star hotel and in reality it’s no more than 3. But… it doesn’t pretend to be so can’t blame them for that. The accommodations are just ok and they are rebuilding as best they can after Irma. The food is so so. I wouldn’t bother trying the restaurants. Bring peanut butter and hot sauce. All that being said, 50% of the guests are there for the beach and the kiting. For that, it is second to none. The spot is incredible! If you are learning to kite this is a dream spot. Close, cheap and everything you need to improve your riding. Internet is horrible. Bring plenty to watch on a tablet and only eat cooked veggies. Stay away from the fruit and raw veg. Overall will definitely go back there.

We went there for the third time (once in the summer and 2 court holidays), and we were curious to see the ravages of irma and of the improvements they have made. Well this is just wow, which people extraordinary, they have done miracles and it is even better than before. The place is clean, the staff is very friendly and helpful, we can do a lot of activities, good food, the wonderful beach, the palapas and chairs in good quantity,. In short, one goes back there without hesitation. Perfect for all ages although if it is the mega party that you want to in a nightclub well this is not the best place.

My fiancee and I stayed at Sercotel Cayo Guillermo on March 2017. We stayed in a bungalow in the adults only section. We originally had to stay for 5 nights, but we decided to stay longer because of the beauty of the place. I mean, Cayo guillermo itself is insanely breathtaking. The facility is also great. Bar on the beach, sunbeds and beautiful peers. Good food with an honest variety, quite clean rooms, very friendly staff, the director even helped us to organize our transfer back to the airport in l. Havana calling one of his friends.
What I got here are some of my best memories, that I will remember for my entire life!

We have stayed at this hotel 3 times in the last 5 years. It being the oldest resort on the Island has its peculiarities and a nostalgic feel to it. The low buildings and sprawling grounds feel like you're walking through a small town at night. The staff are excellent and never fail to remember your name. The beach is beyond words with ample chairs and room to play. The food is just as good as any we have had in Cuba, and is always improving especially on our last visit. They suffer from the usual scarcities of Cuba when it comes to being able to make repairs, we moved a few light bulbs around to light a rather dark path one night. But it is amazing what they can do with what they have. If you are looking for a resort to rest and relax, if you're able to overlook a few things that are beyond your control or the control of the staff, if you are looking for friendly people and like minded relaxed guests then this place is for you. If you are looking for perfection in a developing country then this not likely the place for you. Having said all of this, we don't know when or if we can return. I have not seen any up dates on our favorite piece of Cayo Guillermo, but having seen how the rest of the area fared I wish them all the best in rebuilding and hopefully a return to work for those who have lost jobs. I'm sure the Cuban people will show again their resiliency that would put most of us to shame.
