Very clean and comfortable beds. Reasonable size rooms with everything you need. The host is very helpful and kind. He'll recommend you tips about places to see and eat. I totally recommend it!

Very warm welcome. Clean rooms with plenty of toiletries and a very modern shower room. Full range of tea and coffee with biscuits too. Bathrobes and slippers which were a bonus. Comfortable beds. Fabulous breakfast. All in all an excellent experience. We will definitely be back.

The hosts are really lovely people and the room was spotless and well equipped with all you could want. It was a good size. Breakfast was also great.

Never stayed @ B&B before. After staying @ Sonata it changed my perception towards staying @ B&B. This was a experience of lifetime. Thanks to Chris & Inoka (sorry if I have misspelled your name) for an amazing breakfast in the morning and helping us plan our day. Would definitely recommend to everyone.

We found the sonata as an emergency booking after a motorway breakdown. And what a find it was. This so not your average Lakeland guest house.
The owners went out there way to assist us on arrival. The room was very well appointed but the ensuite was exceptional. Truly 5star.
Breakfast was very very nice.
Added bonus was finding that the pub opposite is owned by a classic motorcycle road racing legend!

After touring round the country for many months to over 40 different towns, cities and villages we can safely say that Chris and Inoka make the best breakfasts out there. The b and b is great, and they are also completely lovely people.

I really enjoyed my stay at Sonata and was made to feel very welcome by Chris and Inoka. The room and en-suite bathroom were immaculate and the veggie breakfast was outstanding — just what was required for a few hours walking the hills. I'd have no hesitation staying at Sonata again.

The best all round accommodation on the dales way, anyone staying in Kendal needs to stay here, very friendly and everything covered from bath salts to fresh berries for breakfast. Thank you for an amazing stay.

Fantastic guest house with the most welcoming, helpful and caring hosts. Thank you for recommending visiting aira force water falls, Ullwater for a break on our route up to Scotland. We really enjoyed it. Gluten free toast in the morning made a real difference to me as I am wheat intolerant. Cannot recommend Sonata highly enough and will certainly be back time and again. Have stayed at the Sonata for the last 3-4 months. Must have stayed in every one of the 4 rooms and cannot fault any of then, even tho Room 4 is my favorite.

Faultless stay at this charming guesthouse in Kendal. Chris and Inoka are great hosts, with a background in hospitality their attention to detail in the guest experience really does show. The room I stayed in wasn't one of the refurbished rooms but was nevertheless perfectly adequate for a three-night stay in December. A hot and powerful shower proved welcome after days walking across snowy fells, the blackout blind and premium bedding gave me a great night's sleep (although I did throw sweater over the clock radio's display which brightly illuminated the room). A strong and stable Wifi connection enabled me to check weather conditions, bus timetables, maps and upload my routes to Garmin. The breakfast (and for that matter the in-room cosmetics) ingredients are admirably locally-obtained and generously cooked and served. The buffet options are neatly presented and there's a good choice of cereals for those who've not yet kicked the refined sugar habit! As of December 2014 this is their second year and as the trade continues to establish itself it will be an even nicer place to stay with all the rooms refurbished with modern fixtures and fittings. I must admit I would have loved a lounge with a woodburner for those post-fell winter afternoons and as an American Express cardholder I'm always pleased when I can pay using that card which I couldn't at Sonata but I do understand there's a cost implication for small businesses.

Excellent service both by Inoka and Chris, the best accommodation I've been to so far, Chris always seem to come at the right time to offer us drinks when we need it most. Highly recommend it.

Fantastic service! Sonata Guest House is a fantastic place to stay in Kendal Town Centre. My colleagues and I stayed there on business and it was the perfect choice — close to the town but quiet enough for much needed, good night's sleep. Beds are comfortable, service is excellent — of the highest standard, with the owners going well out of their way to make your stay more comfortable and enjoyable. And they're friendly, to boot. Breakfast choice was varied and the food was excellent. Excellent selection of refreshments provided in the rooms too. Plus a parking permit. I couldn't fault this lovely little B&B. Well worth staying here.

My wife and I stayed at Sonata Guest House over the August bank holiday weekend. We figured that Kendal would make a great base from which to explore the Lake District and Sonata Guest House made the experience even more enjoyable (Windermere Lake was only 15mins drive away from the guest house while Kendal's town centre a mere 5 mins walk). The place appears to have been recently refurbished to a high standard by its new owners Chris and Inoka. They are great hosts, hospitable and friendly couple who gave us maps and advise on what to see in the Lake District. Our bedroom on the top floor was very comfortable and featured a highly well attended to bathroom; literally 5 star hotel standard from the impeccably clean towels to the soap and handwash. Food was equally great with a menu of English and continental breakfast, different types of juices, 8 varieties of cereal and fresh fruits served every morning. All in all, a very enjoyable stay at this fantastic place which we would definitely choose again in the future.
