La Ponderosa Resort

Absolutely stunning! Where do I start? From the second we pulled in, Marshall and Angela made us feel like family. The room was very comfortable and the grounds are simply amazing. La ponderosa is a piece of paradise, inside of paradise. Every single person that works at la ponderosa, is super friendly and very accommodating. We will stay at La ponderosa every time we visit pavones. I give it a 10 out of 5 stars. Great time with great people and a lot of laughs.

Excellent place to relax and disconnect from the city noise, hotel with all the comforts and a remarkable attention.
Rooms totally clean and various activities to do.
We would definitely come back.

Hello, We booked the Villa at La Ponderosa, and we was extremely happy! We had room enough for other family members, wonderful AC, Wi-Fi, fans, and it had an excellent outside kitchen for cooking meals at home. I highly recommend La Ponderosa. It was perfect for our large group traveling from multiple locations. The smaller rooms are equally comfortable and are perfect for couples or families. The hosts, Angela and Marshall and their staff are amazing. Personable, helpful and responsive. We felt right at home, safe and comfortable beyond our expectations. The food is great and perfect for a quick bite or a full meal. Love the main room filled with games, books, movies etc. We had a family Ping Pong tournament and it was a blast!

We loved our stay at La Ponderosa! The owners and staff were so nice and accommodating. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and the animals! Monkeys, sloths, toucans, scarlet macaws… We hiked all over the compound and hung out at the on-property waterfall! Even though it's a little walk to the point, we rode our bikes and surfed our brains out! Definitely staying there again on our next visit. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!

If you want to be misled into staying at someone’s private home and walk on egg shells as you over pay; this is the place for you. Although, this hotel is an uncomfortable walking distance from town it gets better when you are greeted by an arrogant owner using the hotel amenities. Or is this their home? I can’t decide if this is an owner operator dormitory or a system to pay someone who can’t afford to live in their own home without guests. I will undoubtably never return to this boutique nightmare again. We were constantly disappointed and seemed to be dealing with people that don’t realize they are running a “hotel”.

The accommodations, service and food were excellent. We will definitely come back.

Jungle to Beach. Love it! Great accommodations with pool and some of the best food in Pavones. Steps away from the beach, I have been to Pavones several times and I can't see why anybody would stay anywhere else.

Absolutely perfect place to stay near the beach. Pristine grounds and rooms. Great food. Super friendly. Hear the waves crashing. Walk to town. Beach just a few steps away. Pool with ocean view!

A place to rest and appreciate nature. The room in which I stayed "the Iguana" is quite new and with nice finishes, simple but cosy. The staff is pretty friendly.
There is a main hall that serves as a restaurant-dining room and bone area, with ping pong table, foosball, darts, board games, hammock, books, DVDs, photos of many years back from the area and set to a surf style.
They have a trail, leads to a waterfall and if you climb a little more to a small gazebo-lookout.
Pool very well conditioned and illuminated for night use, baby space.
In front of the hotel there are some exits towards the beach.
A place worth going to.

Miss this place already. Stay for a month here and had the best time of my life! Such a good atmosphere, good food, and good surf. Cant wait to come back soon. Place was by far the most rad.

This boutique hotel in a lost corner of Costa Rica's surfing paradise was beautifully surrounded by gardens and walkways for bird watching. Food was great and the place was maintained like well run ship with the waves across the street…
