Amazing views, awesome sunsets.

Excellent service. The room had an external living room with sea view from where we could see monkeys, tore and laps. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Totally recommended.

It is the perfect location and very central to tour to the many beaches and attractions in the southern zone!

My husband and I are sadly on our way home now, having just returned from 10 glorious nights here. Breathtaking views greet you upon arrival. The rooms are lovely and airy. We didn’t need to use our A/C. Seeing and hearing the ocean in the distance was calming and captivating. The large balcony was perfect for a coffee in the morning to watch the beautiful birds, butterflies and monkeys! In the evening a glass of wine and spectacular sunsets, filled the soul. The grounds are lovely, with beautiful flowering plants. The pool is refreshing and clean with lovely views, adding to the atmosphere of tranquility. The plentiful breakfast, included in the cost, was absolutely delicious! Fresh fruit starters were an added treat. French toast was our favourite, although everything was wonderful. They even kindly prepared an egg wrap for us to take on an early day tour (arranged prior to this by the hotel).
The hotel’s location makes it easy to explore the area on your own, or they can arrange a variety of excursions for you. There are many restaurants, beaches and waterfalls close by. Most of the time, we ate our dinners at The Bamboo Room, as we found their meals delicious and enjoyed the talented musicians, the friendly atmosphere and listening to one of the owners, John, brilliantly play the keyboard. The Bamboo Room is on the premises and music ends around 9 pm, to be respectful to all guests.

Breathtaking views and amazing staff and service.

This is the place to stay in the Zona Sur! The rooms are luxuriously comfortable, the pool, restaurant, and bar are super inviting, and the food is the best on the coast. It’s well located and a great place to begin, end, or base your trip from. I’m still dreaming of the massive cauliflower tacos among many other delicious dishes, including many vegetarian options. The drinks and good times never end at this place, and the bar staff including Roger and Jose are overflowing with Pura Vida. I can’t wait to be back!

The property and views are amazing. I mis-booked my family for a stay here and we arrived about an hour before sunset. Upon entering, it seemed so serene and beautiful — almost too much for my family — and it turned out to be true. It was against the policy for kids to stay. And after seeing the surroundings I can imagine why kids wouldn't be "preferred! ". :) Janet and John treated me and my family like we were their own. They were concerned about finding a new place for us to stay. I felt so very taken care of in a time of need in a different country! In these times that feeling is remarkable. They referred us to an amazing place that still holds such memorable place in our hearts. Thank you, again, Janet and John! Perfect Jewel set high in the canopy in Ojochal Costa Rica. Laid back, quiet with a restaurant and live music. Wonderful place to unwind.

This little hotel has everything you could ask for: amazing views, refreshing pool, comfortable rooms and live music in the best bar/restaurant in Ojochal. You can't beat the excellent value provided by Alma.

Fantastic Room and Live Music at a wonderful hotel in the jungle! This place is phenomenal. We arrived to monkeys playing in the trees. The rooms were clean with an amazing view. So rejuvenating. And to top it off the staff was wonderful. The sound at The Bamboo Room, the live music venue next door, is phenomenal. Really nothing like it. Come for the adventure, stay for the music, view, vibe, and recovery! When you leave rest assured you will be inspired!

A beautiful spot tucked in the hills near Ojochal. The rooms are clean and well kept with pricing appropriate. The staff are accommodating and the owners are terrific people. You will not be disappointed.

Our recent third and longest (8 nights) stay at the Alma was again "First Class". The cleanliness and quality of the property as well as the views are without competition and the staff are very attentive but not intrusive. We will definitely be back in late December.

One of the best hotels in CR, if you go with your couple, is a good choice.

I want to echo everything Ryan H. Said in another post. He summed it up perfectly. John is an incredible host and treated us like old friends. We spent the days exploring the area and almost every night at the Bamboo Room enjoying some awesome food, drink, and company. We could not have been more pleased with our time at Alma, and would also recommend dealing directly with them as opposed to 3rd party sites. If you're considering a stay here, lock it in. You won't regret it. Zach and Arden.

Great hotel and worth the price. This is my favorite spot in Ojochal. Great view of the ocean.

We knew from our arrival that this was a special place. After parking, we walked to the reception area and were greeted by Juan Carlo. He was incredibly courteous, gracious, pleasant, and welcoming like we were friends who had come for a visit… everything you wished someone in the hospitality industry was. He also ended up waiting on our table one evening, and for both breakfasts (more on those in a minute). We were showed to our rooms, where he took the time to briefly point out little features that were available to us, and how to make our stay as comfortable and relaxing as possible. We dropped our suitcases and were immediately drawn to the VERY large balcony overlooking the immediate jungle and the crashing waves on the coast just beyond the trees. The balcony had two comfy chairs and a a small table, perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and reading a book when the afternoon rains came in (we were there during the green season). The bed was comfy and the room felt very light and airy, thanks to the tall ceilings and white linens. The bathroom was more than adequate with a sizable shower area and taller counter for the sink (all of you taller people can relate to how nice this is! ). For dinner we opted to try the restaurant on-site the first night, The Bamboo Room, which were heard was a local favorite. We met Chuck, who was playing that night (the restaurant has live music every night) and were attended to quickly by none other than Juan Carlo, who had checked us in.
