Pros: — genuinely nice staff, not well trained (fault of management) but very sweet and kind and hard working — the position of the hotel is amazing, each room has a magnificent view of the ocean blending in with the infinity pool and colorful landscape — closeness to Tamarindo downtown with all its shops and restaurants. It's a 3 minute drive down the hill and you're on the beach. — shuttle schedule is very good Cons: — bathrooms: the whole mold bathroom situation, I attached the picture, let it speak for itself. Also, one toilet paper-roll per room, no extra, you have to ask for it and good luck keeping up with usage so you don't run out of it right in the middle of business… — room has no "do not disturb"/"service please" tags for the door — bottled water — one night around 11 pm we went down and ask for bottled water (to buy) they said they ran out of bottled water, so the hotel didn't have any drinking water that we could take with us into the room. — hotel restaurant — the food was fresh and very good, however when I ordered lentil patty burger from the menu I was brought a burger with avocado instead. I was told they ran out of lentil patties so they replaced it with avocado without asking if that's ok with me. I had to wait extra 20 min for something else since avocado burger was not something I felt like eating. (I am just glad it wasn't replaced with kiwi since I am allergic to it…) — no bugs treatment — in the rooms, common areas, nowhere. We went to have breakfast at a few nearby hotels (had friends staying there), same level hotels, less then two miles away from each other, no bugs (or much less to be exact). Asked around, were told the rooms and restaurant/buffet area are getting treated daily. Not in Esplendor unfortunately, it was almost impossible to eat with 10 flies flying around the plate! We travel a lot, recently being to Thailand and stayed at the hotel that was cheaper then this, the rooms were treated daily, it was part of housekeeping service (just an example) Conclusion: For some reason the feeling that I got staying at Esplendor is that the owners just kind of let if flow by itself. Whatever happens happens kind of thing. They have great people working for them, kind and ready to provide service but it's obvious there's no proper training. The peeling outdoor furniture on common areas that should have being replaced long time ago or at least restored, pool towels that are so old they are about to fall apart, all these things show poor management and lack of financial support. If any of the top management will ever bump into this review I would like to say: you guys have an amazing property! put some 'love' into it, good people work for you — train them according to basic international hospitality standards, improve maintenance and you'll become the best hotel in the area!
