This is a beautiful little oasis. While it's less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and the main strip (which can get noisy at night) it's nice and quiet. Our room was super clean and I loved the hammock just outside the door. The hotel staff couldn't have been more friendly. The drinks and food at the restaurant were fantastic. The live music was really great. If you come here, keep an eye out for the local animals! We've seen iguanas, monkeys, lots of birds, and the hotel's cat, Frank. Bring bug spray, as the mosquitos are hungry.

Amazing place just a short walk from the beach! Amazing staff, bar with live music and pool. Also very quiet area so you dont hear street noise unlike some other, more expensive hotels.

If you are reading through the reviews for this hotel and others in the area there are some things you need to understand before your trip to Costa Rica… 1. Guests at this hotel have reported the ants and bugs in their rooms, but this can be a problem for all hotels in the area. When it rains the bugs seem to come out with the humidity. My room had some, bugs and the staff sprayed my room which helped. When it still wasn't up to my expectations they didn't hesitate to help me move to another room. 2. The plumbing in Costa Rica is old, especially in the buildings near the beach and downtown. Most establishments have signs posted asking you not to flush any paper or other products down the toilets. 3. Hotel security is important in the area. This hotel has cameras and a security guard on duty at night to make sure that only hotel guests come in and out after dark. We booked 6 rooms at this hotel for a fishing trip. The upgraded rooms with a mini fridge were our favorites in comparison. The hotel has a great location. There is a grocery store right across the street where we stopped before our fishing trips. It is about a 10 minute walk to the beach. The breakfast that is included offers, cereal, juice, toast, and a few other options including pancakes, eggs, and yogurt. Our group had dinner here twice. Once we ate off the menu and once they prepared a mahi mahi that was caught during our fishing charter.

Hotel staff is super accommodating. The hotel has a great location within walking distance of everything. We ate at the bar/restaurant twice. Once they cooked the Dorado that we caught and the second time we ate off their menu. Book you room online or via their direct phone number.

Sweet little neat plant. Our room was clean and was not musty. You can choose between 2 breakfasts. There was also toast, jam and Kornfleks. The hotel is centrally located. There are plenty of restaurants and bars. The beach is also not far away.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the owner was very helpful. Simple and very comfortable hotel, great groups of music in the evening.

The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The rooms were very large and clean, and had air conditioners as well. The restaurant offers a fair range of good food. The times the front desk is open could be expanded for convenience.

Nice hotel, 10 minuets walking distance from the nearest beach. The room itself was nice, the shower and water pressure was good, staff is nice and helpful, but several things were unacceptable for a hotel in this level: First, there were big ants everywhere, on the desk, all over the floor, in our bed and on our pillows and on the sink. They say they can fumigate again in your room but this should be resolved prior to guests arrival. It was very unpleasant. Second, the Wi-Fi network didn’t work most of the time due to some technical problems that were only solved in the mornings. Third, our reservation included breakfast but we had to leave at 7:00 am and breakfast in this hotel starts only at 7:30 am. We asked them if we could have something to eat to go in advance, but they refused to help us with this and we had to pay for breakfast outside. This is not ok.

Fun, local bar with live music most nights and plenty of friendly people out for a good time!

Nice bar and pool area, drinks were good and reasonably priced. A shame that the card machine wasn't working, but the experience was good.

Very friendly staff. Clean rooms. Pool quite large but with a few chairs. Great location close to the center and the beach.

We had a 4 days 3 nights package at this place. Was our honeymoon and just wanted to relax. Upon arrival we moved to our room, nice and cozy. The problem was when we came back in the evening, our bed was covered with ants. I asked the reception and after a while he managed to put us in another room. I asked if we could stay in the same room and not get inconvenienced, he said no. So the day after we moved back to our room. At night when we came back the A/C was dead. Took them about an hour to get it fixed. The day after we left for a walk and had lunch outside. After lunch took a little nap and both were bitten badly by ants in our bed. This was after they sprayed the room. So once again I spoke with the reception and once again they moved us to another room. By this time I asked the guy in the reception if they could do something to compensate for all the hassle, he told me that he couldn't do much and only works there. I asked him as where was the owner, he said out of the country. My logic, if you own a hotel and don't want to deal with people, at least give your managers a little bit of latitude to be able to compensate your clients. We were ready to leave one day early, that's how tired we were off the situation. Aside from that, the hotel is not bad, close to the center, but no private parking. The pool is OK, the bar and restaurant are decent. Breakfast is included, it's of a two item menu but the menu changes everyday.

A magical garden and a great terrace around the pool! A place to live, go enjoy the concerts three nights a week! The reception is top and good advice for your stay in Tamarindo but also for your tour of Costa Rica! Pura Vida!

Enchanting place, well maintained and close to the beach, grocery stores, good restaurants and souvenir shops. Parking available.
You have hot water in the room as well as a TV but no small fridge.
Very clean except that there are many small ants in the room.
Site next to the street which makes sleep fragile.
At the moment, there is work on the other side of the street which harms those who wish to make the morning grace…

Wonderful place to stay, staff are helpful and polite. A 4 minute walk to the beach this place is a little oasis. Almost like staying in the jungle.

We had no complaints about Hotel Pasatiempo! The staff was very attentive and promptly responded to our questions. The rooms are clean and have everything you need for a comfortable stay. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the beach, a super market, and all of the downtown restaurants, without being right on the busy main drag. Pool-side loungers and porches on every room make night caps easy. Live music every Monday is a fun bonus!

Great hotel. Relaxed and quiet. My only complaints would be the limited parking and the spotty Wi-Fi. I would definitely go back there. Nothing like getting up early morning and having breakfast by the pool. Loved it. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Went here for the first week of our honeymoon. If you want a simple cute hotel this is the one. It is a good price for what you get. Close to the beach and still has lots of options to eat and drink with in walking (or stumbling…) distance. Definitely recommend.

Lousy place, an administrative disorder in charge of Federico, an Argentine, is made reservation, arrived, there is no space, I ask money back, get a percentage, by policies of Hostel. Not what I recommend,. 10 of July 2016.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Pasatiempo for our honeymoon and had an amazing experience! The staff is so nice and friendly! It feels like you are staying with a family rather than a hotel because all the staff is so welcoming. They do everything they can to make your vacation perfect and even went above and beyond to help us get out of a reservation and were so understanding the entire time. The property is absolutely beautiful and we saw quite a bit of wild life during our stay. There are tropical birds and lizards running around most of the time and we even crossed paths with a howler money who walked right by the pool. The breakfast that is offered is amazing, the only bad part is that it is served from 7:30am-9:30am and most tours and activities leave at 7am, so we were not able to get breakfast some mornings. The hotel is located right off of the main strip where everything is and only a 5 min walk from the beach so it is in a great spot! Overall, we loved Hotel Pasatiempo.

Stayed there in February 2014, no complaints everything fantastic.

Everything is great, people are nice, lovely rooms with air conditioning, TV and really comfortable beds. The pool is surrounded by a tropical garden of Whouuuuuuuuu. I paid $89 plus tax with breakfast. Many thanks to the whole team. Cécile.
