Respond to customer complaints and make it right. We had a bad experience and only stayed for 2 hours and left, and asking for a refund. We have yet to hear any response after multiple attempts. Still waiting to resolve.

Absolutely one of the the most beautiful places I've ever stayed! The villas with private pools are incredible. The staff is sooo friendly and helpful. They help with everything from food/drink, excursion set up and transportation. 5star all the way!

Wow, a slice of paradise just out of Tamarindo (about 1.5km). Just fabulous, family villas, pools, own beach access, restaurant, food, staff and service. Not cheap but luxurious. There is evidence that it's been around for a while (witness marks of the odd repair here and there) but nothing to detract from the experience. Taxis can run you too and from town for a few $ or they do have bicycles. Which are OK if a little tired. With its access to the beach, you can walk around the headland to Tamarindo (about 30mins walk) at low tide or instead turn left and head to the estuary for both a quiet and pretty walk along the beach (again best at low tide).

Absolutely beautiful. Room and grounds are great. Staff is always helpful. And a family of monkeys was just hanging around.

My husband and I honeymooned at Cala Luna in February. It was everything we hoped for and more. The grounds are beautiful and the food was excellent! We took full advantage of the spa, beautiful sunsets on beach, and pool area. The location is far enough away from town you feel secluded, but also just a walk away from shopping and amazing restaurants. The staff took such good care of us. We are already dreaming of a trip back.

Went with the whole family. Only complaint is the noise from the howler monkeys. Service and staff were excellent.

Tastefully decorated lobby and rooms. Lush landscape excellent food with fresh ingredients and well/correctly prepared. It's a small piece of paradise in this very westernized town. Most of the ingredients of their restaurant are from the owner's organic farm which is 20 minutes drive outside tamarindo. We did the dinner tour which is an amazing experience. It's an intimate setting with the owner of the hotel and hearing her stories and her projects and visiting the labyrinth. It's worth every minute and every $. The service in the restaurant can be slow not completely their fault as they get quite busy as it's a popular restaurant.

I recommend this Boutique Hotel, their people, what they offer and their services are incredible. As soon as you get there you receive 5 star treatment, they offer you some refreshment to welcome you and the human quality is amazing. I had the opportunity to know Ann, Griet, Federerico & Ricardo all of them are great people! Few services & Hotels in Costa Rica make you feel good, but Cala Luna is totally an example of an excellent costumer service culture, not to mention the great taste in the hotel decoration, rooms, organic food & their sustainability.

Not an adult only hotel… We decided to stay there cause we saw on their website it stated it was an adult only hotel but it wasn't. Unfortunately we couldn't cancel our reservation and we were there already. The staff was very attentive and they apologized for the inconvenient even offer us to upgrade us to a villa with private pool but we were happy to keep the suite we reserved and there's no much privacy at the Villa anyway so if you're looking to have some quite time and relaxed by the pool this not the places is more family oriented. Also breakfasts ends at 930am so if you're on vacation looking to sleep late and rest keep that in mind… I give them 3 starts because the staff is so kind and attentive and the place is very well kept and tastefully decorated… The food if quite delightful as well specially at dinner time… The messages are incredible but they don't do your feet or the front is mostly a back massage with little arms and legs…

What an amazing trip this was for us and the Cala Luna staff only made it sweeter! The rooms are luxurious while at the same time being literally nestled in a tropical garden with monkeys, birds, and other wildlife going about. The staff is VERY friendly and always accommodating. One of the best things is they offer shuttle service from the airport and free bike rentals so you don't have to rent a car for groceries, or to go into downtown Tamarindo for shopping, food, etc… If you're looking for a high-end vacation experience in Costa Rica, check this place out.

We had an excellent experience in this wonderful hotel for 4 days (12/24-27). The landscape is one of earth’s paradise. Amenities and staff are wonderful. For almost every evening we enjoyed dinner by the pool. Although the hotel is not in front of the beach there is a very short walking path that takes you to playa langosta.

It's very nice and cozy. It's right on the beach as well. As soon as you come in, they will give you a cold wet towel to cool off with following some refreshing lemonade. I stayed in the king room and my tub was so huge. I felt like a mermaid in it. The food here is buenísimo but a bit pricy. I would definitely stay here again.

Cala Luna is a little piece of heaven right here on Earth. Here's what I think you will love about it: a) The AMAZING staff who is absolutely focused on your happiness, comfort, and experience. I've traveled the world and stayed in many, many places — Cala Luna's staff (incl. The kitties) is the finest staff I've ever encountered, bar none! ; b) The luscious tropical foliage surrounding the meandering pathways are complete with howler monkeys swinging in the trees above — — romantic and peaceful; c) The spacious rooms are comfortable, well-maintained, and expertly cared for by the housekeeping staff (soaking tubs w/showers, ample closet space, a safe; turn down service, etc. ) ; d) The property is just steps away from an expansive but sparsely-populated beach that is a seashell collector's dream, and which plays host to an intimate daily sunset cocktail gathering; e) The dining room staff, where I enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, are consummate professionals who love nothing more than to make your belly happy; f) It's an easy 15m walk into Tamarindo (by road or via the beach), which means at night you're enjoying the sounds of waves and not of people/traffic on Calle Central. Be warned: If you stay at Cala Luna, you will experience Pura Vida; the moment you leave your heart will plead with you to return.

Stunning villas, private pools, spacious bathrooms, beautiful bedrooms, full kitchens with separate dining room, private parking with rod iron gate, this is the best hotel in Tamarindo! There is beach access, though be forewarned the beach is rather rocky. Nevertheless, you will enjoy a quiet beach with natural ponds in cratered rock formations. Lots of fish and curious crabs to see in crystal clear waters during low tide. Beautiful Tamarindo beach is very close if your craving a traditional beach with decent surf. Hotel staff is phenomenally courteous and always willing to go the extra mile for you. Free breakfast is amazing with personal chef to prepare your eggs just how you like em! Pura Vida!

I love Cala Luna! The free breakfast and sunset cocktails are amazing. The food at the restaurant is delicious. Our room was big, clean, and comfortable. The staff is all so friendly. This hotel is very nice and such a great deal!

Excellent hotel with very friendly staff. It is a 15-20 min walk into town, otherwise an inexpensive cab ride. They have drinks on the beach at sunset that is beautiful-plenty of chairs and hammocks to enjoy the view. Restaurant is pretty good, but a little pricey (but then again a lot of Tamarindo is a little more pricey than the rest of the country). There were a lot of families with kids staying there when we stayed. The only (minor) complaint was the howler monkeys woke us up a couple mornings-they liked to hang out right above our roof.

The staff is absolutely superb — friendly, helpful, detail oriented. Extremely well maintained grounds. A family of monkeys living on site while my wife and I were there (which we enjoyed). Bring a book and take advantage of the hammocks down at the beach! Divine. Can't wait to get back there.

Went for lunch, the food was amazing and service was wonderful!

My wife and I spent 5 days of our honeymoon at the luxurious Cala Luna resort in April and wish we could go back right now! The hotel is an amazing property and we can't say enough how happy we are with our stay there! It is located about a 3 minute cab ride from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo. It's a great place to unwind and relax but it's also close enough to Tamarindo to enjoy all the funky little beach town has to offer (great surfing, gift shops, nightlife, restaurants, etc. ). The hotel is small enough to have a romantic touch to it but is big enough to provide all the luxuries someone traveling to Costa Rica could need! The hotel staff is amazing and so genuinely friendly (especially Edwin, Eddie, Daniel and Margoth)! The front desk staff is extremely helpful and has trips for all kinds of Costa Rican adventures (we recommend the ATV ride). The food is great and the sunset cocktail hour is amazing. I would definitely recommend Cala Luna to any couple or family traveling to Costa Rica and hope to go back someday!

Great hotel. The staff is great is friendly. At the hotel, they have many pools and activities to do all through out the day. They also have bike rentals. The rooms are super clean and nice. The food is a little pricy, so be careful.

Cala Luna is a chic beach hotel located just outside the town of Tamarindo. Its location is perfect because you're far enough removed from the town's commotion but still have easy access to restaurants and bars (15-minute walk during the day, 2-minute taxi ride at night). They have both rooms and villas available. The rooms are perfect for couples or families with one or two small children while the 2 and 3-bedroom villas have a kitchen and private patio with its OWN POOL! Our group of friends spent an entire day in our patio's pool sipping on frozen-drinks we made ourselves in the villa. There is a beautiful open-air spa and yoga deck and a short trail brings you down to the beach. While the coastline in front of the hotel is a bit rocky to swim, you'll find a sandy spot to swim a short walk down the beach. For surfers, you're only a short walk to both beginner and advanced breaks. Overall, one of the best hotels in the Tamarindo area! Theresa Parent, Central America Vacation.

I LOVE this hotel & can't wait to return!

Spent a week at Calla Luna with my husband and two teenagers, 18 and 15 year olds. We can't say enough about our fabulous experience. From the friendly and welcoming drink and cool beautifully scented facecloth to the complimentary sunsets cocktails and the excellent breakfast included in our villa. The grounds are beautiful and we fully enjoyed watching the monkeys in the trees while eating our breakfast or having an end of day drink at the pool. The staff are all so accommodating and super friendly. We had surf lessons from Victor who was amazing and rented a boat one day snorkelling and fishing. Both of which I highly recommend. We loved the area with a quick taxi or bike ride into Tamarindo which is a busy surf town and beach. Our plan was to eat in town a lot but we were so impressed with the food and service at Calla Luna that we spent many meals there. Even if you are in the area and want a special dinner out I would highly recommend Calla Luna, you wouldn't be disappointed.

We arrived for breakfast and was told that breakfast was not being served and that at 1100 lunch would start being served. So we decided to have coffee and wait for lunch which was about 30 minutes later. So we waited and then at 1100 am a waiter came to our table (the very first time we saw any waiters. I had to go to another eating area to ask for coffee). The waiter told us that lunch will not be served until 11:20. We were decided to just wait and asked if we could have some bread or something as we had kids with us and everyone was starving at this point. At 11:20 the waiter brought us bread and gave us menus. Then we ordered lunch a little later. There were 6 people in our party. About an hour later everyone's lunch arrived except for mine. They said it would be a few minutes more. About ANOTHER hour later we were told it would only be a few mins more for mine but everyone had long finished their lunch. I asked that my lunch be canceled as we had plans we were already late to. We just wanted the bill, to pay and then to GO. But, by some miracle, my lunch arrived and I decided to eat it as fast as I could. Then the waiter asked how everything was. We responded IN SPANISH that it was very slow. I asked if my lunch be removed from the bill and they gave us the bill with nothing taken off. So we paid and started to walk to the exit. Then someone stopped us and asked if we would like to make reservations for dinner?!

Our family had a great time when we stayed at Cala Luna. The wild monkeys and iguanas were a thrill, and the sunsets on the beach were fantastic. Carlos and Enrique and the rest of the staff were excellent, and Ernest with trip reservations set us up with a good ATV/zipline trip at late notice.
