Fantastic staff and facilities! Everything was wonderful. Do not choose "fast" on the waterslide, you have helmets for a reason.

We booked a full day tour through Amstar and they brought us here. The property is absolutely beautiful. They show you demonstrations of how local people make sugar cane juice, and also Costa Rican pottery. Everything is done by hand. You can purchase the pottery as well. We had the opportunity to walk the tree bridges before we did the ziplines. We were on our last zipline when it started raining so we were unable to do the horseback riding. Our package included a lunch at the restaurant located on the property. The food was good. While we were eating the rain got worse and there was lightning and loud thunder. When it let up a little we jumped on the cart and the tractor took us to the hot springs. The hot spring pools are a must. After the hiking in the trees and the ziplining, the hot springs felt so good. Everyone is so friendly and try their best to speak english to those that don't speak spanish. When we were done in the hot springs, the rain let up just enough that we were able to see some howler monkeys and spider monkeys. We also got to see a toucan sitting in a tree. I highly recommend this place for all it has to offer.

It really is an unforgettable experience, its staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms and facilities in general are very nice and spacious. The activities to be done are many for all kinds of tastes and in each of them you enjoy a lot. The service of the staff is excellent, the amount of animals and vegetation that are observed make this a unique place which you definitely want to revisit.

Great place to have an adventure day! The zip lines were fantastic, the horses were easy to ride and very well kept, the hanging bridges let you see all kinds of things! Very interesting flora & fauna! The hot springs & mud bath were a great way to spend the day! The ranch is well kept and the staff were very friendly and informative! Highly recommend!

We did the mega combo excursion through Destination Services and had an amazing time. Our tour guide Andres was friendly, funny, and knowledgeable. He did an amazing job of keeping us all moving throughout the day. The zip lining and waterslide were both a little scary but so much fun. My 6 year old son loved both! I almost didn't do the waterslide, but I'm glad I did… ended up going twice The horseback ride was fun. We saw lots of wildlife along the way… beautiful blue butterflies, iguanas, a coati. The hot springs were so relaxing. I wish we had more time there. The mud really does make your skin feel amazing! Lunch was fresh and tasty… salad, rice and beans, fried fish, spaghetti, and a sort of beef stew that was delicious. Our driver even spotted a toucan in a tree on our ride back. All in all this was a great trip!

Amazing Experience. We did the adventure tour package, and it was the experience of a lifetime. Zip lining was AWESOME! The water slide was thrilling. The staff were all very friendly. The food and coffee were great as well.

Had a great time at the adventure center riding horses, the hot pools & mud bath, the water slide and the zip lining was a blast. Definitely worth the price of admission and really seems like a great deal in hindsite. My girls (17 & 15) and my wife all agreed it was a great way to spend the day if you are in the Rincón area — I highly recommend. Very safe and well done.

Great excursion experience. Loved the ziplining and horseback riding. Even the mudding and hot baths were amazing. I didn't expect to have all of those experiences in one trip. Was a blast. I would recommend it to anyone.

Ok so obviously they have a magnificent zip line adventure and some amazing coffee that you need to buy bags of and take home with you. Now more importantly they have gone above and beyond with the ecological side. The methane gas extraction and the reuse of practically everything that goes through there. They have almost made an art of repurpose. This is a must visit location and you will have a blast.

This place is amazing. Their effort to recycle is admirable, a reference point for all interested in eco-friendly practices. We engaged in almost all the activities available; zip lines, horseback riding, canopy tour, and thermal baths. Would have cost us, at least, three times more back home. And the food was superb!

Excellent place. Lenny, our tour guide, was awesome. Knew everything about the wildlife in the forest. We learned a lot about the eco system and enjoyed every minute. Got to see howling monkeys, giant frogs, lizards and more. The hot springs were awesome, the mud bath was awesome, horseback riding was awesome. Take your time, it's a full day adventure. The ziplining was fantastic, they had many lines, all of us were able to enjoy it, our 5 and 6 year old were able to go alone on most of them and our 3 year old went alone on the last one once he got comfortable. However the waterside seems a bit dangerous for young ones, I would limit this to kids of at least 5-6 years old. This excursion is definitely worth every penny. I would highly recommend it to anyone and especially anyone with young children. If I come back I would come back in may. There aren't too many tourists and no lineups anywhere. It's like a private excursion since it's pretty much just your family and your tour guide.

Very well maintained green areas. The logistics very well resolved despite being complex by the many options canopy, aerial bridges, waterfall, toboggan, trails, Spa, swimming pools, horseback riding. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Excellent food varied in multiple options to enjoy. Spectacular views. Its true value added the disposition and quality of service of its staff truly identified with the customer. They have understood that the national tourist is important and personalized treatment is received. I would definitely recommend it without reservation either to spend a day taking advantage of its facilities or several to rest and take advantage of it better. My only recommendation is a better sign of the trails.

We had the most wonderful time at Buena Vista Lodge & Adventure Center. We did the mega combo tour and had an amazing tour guide, Lenin. We can not thank him enough for making our time there so great. He even talked me into doing the water slide, I was nervous at first, but I am so glad I did it. Our 9 year old daughter did zip lining like nothing she has ever done in the states and we all loved the hot springs and horse back riding. The coffee and snacks on the cultural tour were perfect as well. I love the coffee here so much! Definitely check this place out if you are in the area, it will not disappoint.

Such an amazing place! The food was just spectacular. I could eat there for the rest if my life & be happy. All sorced locally, prepared on site fresh, and traditional dishes made to impress. I would love to go back if we are ever in Costa Rica again! Lots of things to see & do as well. Fun shops, horses, tractor rides, zip lines through the canopy, and a 1/4 mile water slide through the forest. Only wish wed had more time to do the hanging walkways as well!

This place is complicated.
So far away from everything that it is impossible to do anything other than to consume at home. And it's expensive… Very expensive. Everything pays off. Every small activity costs more than $15 per person… It's not easy.
But the setting is majestic. What a sight. What an atmosphere in the evening when the sun sets in the Pacific… Wow…
I only put 3 stars because everything to pay as expensive we spoiled the stay…

Beautiful hotel, quiet and clean.

We didn't stay at the resort, but we did go an adventure excursion with them. We went on a 3-hour horseback riding tour to 3 waterfalls. It was beautiful. Just keep in mind that it's really helpful if you are in shape so since it 's not just horseback riding, but also a bit of hiking to get to the waterfalls. It also helps if you speak Spanish. Our guide spoke very little English, but he was very nice.

The place is amazing and offers different activities both included in the price and for an extra cost. Within the activities included in the normal price is the use of the pool, visit to La Fonda, hike through the trails and suspension bridge, waterfall, hot springs. Extra activities such as horseback riding, water slide and guided tours have an extra cost. The restaurants offer a good menu and the buffet style breakfast is very good as it is typical. The area of the hot springs is very relaxing, they have several pools with different temperatures and you can stay all day, important point to mention is that the journey of several kilometers from the reception to the hot Springs is done in a Chapulín that comes out and Come back at certain times. The rooms are quite comfortable and quiet. In the bar area you can take beers or cocktails and enjoy a marallivosa view and hopefully a sunset of those that only CR offers.

We did not stay in the lodge, but we did do the Megacombo adventure excursion. We had a wonderful time! Allan, through Swiss Tours, was our guide and he did such an amazing job! The men who worked the zipline did a great job, as well. Two people in our party had ziplined before, but three had not. They made us feel super safe while also joking with us the whole time. When we went horseback riding, one person in our group was terrified of horseback riding, but wanted to try anyway. Lenny, the guide of that trip, helped her so much. He stayed with her and gave her tips to calm her down. When we got to the hot springs, we really enjoyed the amenities, however, the bugs were awful. Our whole group was eaten up with bug bites. Lunch was top notch! Everyone in our party enjoyed a more traditional Costa Rican meal! It was all organic and grown on the resort. The only thing we would recommend from our experience is to cover yourself in bug spray!

Magical place to share in family or partner! You can plan a lot of activities inside the hotel! Wear coats for the evenings, sunset is magical.

Place of great views. Normal attention. You can do a lot of activities inside the hotel. They manufacture high quality Costa Rican coffee (tall coffee) which can be accompanied with traditional meals from the province.

We had an fantastic time at the Buena Vista Lodge. (June 2017). This place is beautiful located in the middle of the rain forest. A lot of monkeys, birds and butterflies around. We stayed for two days at the Buena Vista Lodge and did a lot of activities. The zip line and the hanging bridges are fantastic. The service is very kind and helpful. The food was good, the roams are a little bit dark but okay. We loved every minute of our time there.

This is a luxury lodge as far as I am concerned. The paved roads, impeccable service, well signed trails, and rustic rooms were perfect for our stay. The lodge employs ~60 people and they work very hard. The food was pretty standard and the restaurant prices were about what you pay in the USA at a reasonable hotel. Given the remote nature of this place, I was happy to pay fair prices. The only draw back was several of us were bitten by insects either in our beds or during excursions; This is hardly the hotel's fault. We did see a lot of tour groups come through from the beaches. They all looked tired from what must be a long day. I don't know why anyone would make a day trip here; You should stay a couple nights, enjoy the view, and do the excursions a la carte for a much better experience.

Awesome experience. Zip lines and hot springs/mud bath are Amazing. The waterslide is dangerous. It moves so fast you almost go over the edge.

Nice place but pretty sketchy! The food is drinkable and the bingalows are nice and otherwise there are the thermal baths at 4km from the lodge can be made by horse or tractor it takes about 30 Minutes but otherwise you should not expect to stay several nights two nights are enough for P Ower do the proposed activities!

Hotel in the middle of nowhere. Do not stay there long because the benefits are more than limited and cleanliness not at the appointment. Power outage due to a windstorm and rain.

So many forever memories from here. Firstly the welcoming staff and then all of the activities that are available. I went horseriding for about an hour through some of the most amazing mountainous countryside and then stopped mid-hack to visit the waterfall for a view of an amazing waterfall. I cloudwalked along the trees to see close up views of a family of monkeys in their natural habitat even though I have a fear of heights! The information tour of the coffee making facilities and free samples of food and snacks provided a lovely stop with an opportunity to look around the home made pottery selection. Followed by the scariest longest water slide that won't be forgotten in a long while. The drive to and from this volcanic retreat provides views of the most stunning countryside and a chance to see more of this beautiful country and local people. Ours was a private tour so we stopped at local shops of our own choice on the way back to pick up souvenirs and took millions of photos as and when we wanted. Fab day and lovely staff and would definitely go back and best value ever.

Very good. It should improve the maintenance of the site. The rooms overlooking the lake should be remodeled. Promote night activities.

Please avoid any and all excursions hosted or planned by buena vista. We traveled 2 hours on an excursion with them on Sunday, December 3, 2017, from DREAMS Costa Rica and saw person after person almost lose their life or get seriously injured. Just within my party of 19 people, we had a few people flip over in the water slide, one of them seriously injuring her head when it smacked up against the concrete slide as she flipped uncontrollably. The worst and most horrible site was the woman who was allowed to move from one platform to the next on the zip line before the person in front of her had been detached properly. They almost collided in midair, but she instead collided into a tree and seriously injured her back and had to be rushed to a local hospital for care. Both she and her 12-year old daughter left the resort absolutely traumatized by the experience. I also witnessed a man from another party come out of the water slide with a bloody mouth and a missing front tooth. He said his experience on the slide was similar to what we witnessed within our party. Our guide was really nice and informative. However, he claimed that in all of years he had never seen any serious accidents happen during the excursions. I find that hard to believe after witnessing so many of them in such a short period of time. Avoid them if you want your life.

This place is worth the trip. A cluster of nice experiences. Great lunch. And a really intense water slide that should get anyone’s adrenaline flowing. Staff is very upbeat, helpful and friendly. Everyone seemed happy that I encountered.

We had a fantastic guide! He was extremely nice and funny-also spoke great English. We had so much fun! I would highly recommend the mega combo. Best bang for your buck, completely worth it!

If you think you are going for adventure, don't go. The adventures here are very limited, and quite expensive compared to the same adventures in e. G. Monteverde. The national park (the main reason to go to this area) is a long drive away. If you think you will find friendly, happy personal, don't go. The personnel seems very unhappy to work here and are very non-interested and nonchalant. Food is organic, which is good, but I find it quite expensive. Feels to me like the lodge is taking advantage of its monopoly position — since you can't really go out to eat anywhere else. Lastly, the spa is not a spa — it is a plain swimming pool, not worth the visit. Will not visit again.

I used to work here 13 years ago and to see the changes they've made since then is amazing! It was beautiful here then and even more so now! The people that work here are super nice and inviting. Definitely somewhere to check out on your visit to Costa Rica! Directions here are the same as I used to give people when I was here. Turn up the road towards Cañas Dulces and keep driving, when you think you're lost and you've gone the wrong way drive a little more and you're here. The road ends at the reception.

Super organic food. I even found a little slug in my salad and the waiter didn't even bother to apologize. Not his fault but it was absolutely disgusting. The staff is nice but they do not give enough privacy. The food is overpriced and poorly prepared and very small portions like for a 5 year old. Other than that the hot springs and surrounding environment is very nice, but I would not recommend.

The food is awful. The room was very poor. Customer service is very bad. The price is not worth what is received.

Excellent attention, the place is beautiful, there are many activities to do. Also if you want to rest and relax is the ideal place.

Overall was a great day, the day was full of events horseback riding and zip lining along with a hot springs and mud bath the cutural part was lacking a little along with the coffee tour. As a whole great day just wish the water slide wasn't broken that day.

Great place! It is an adventure center located to the faults of the Rincón de la Vieja volcano! It has horseback riding, canopy, hot springs a water slide of 420 mts. Also cabins for people stay.

The staff was very nice. But, on the other hand the rooms were gross and ants everywhere. The food was awful and not a good place for children. The activities at the place are beyond amazing so if you don't care where you stay for amazing activites this would be a great place for you.

These isolated, monotonous restoration, there is only the option of the buffet to $ 15 and is almost always the same
Yes there are other restaurants but are closed or if not you show up at 5 in the afternoon then don't go to dinner is already closed kitchen
The activities well.

I booked with hotelbeds. We drove from riu palace our tour guide was brian he was a great tour guide. He made our 2 hour trip go by very fast by explaining a lot about the country and the different things we saw on the way. He even stopped the bus twice midway. Once to show us a local fruit along the side of the road, and once to show us a local bird. We started our trip zip lining. We went on ten lines most of them were relatively short. Made sure to spray beforehand with bug spray. (Everyone who didn't got bitten multiple times) Afterwards we went down the waterslide they can adjust the speed for you by stopping the river and than releasing an amount of water according to the speed you wanted to go. If you wanted to you could go multiple times as long as you are willing to walk back to the starting point. Next we got to taste some homemade fresh Costa Rican coffee, cake, cornbread, cheese and bread. After that was lunch pretty basic a couple of salads chicken meat rice pasta and soup lemonade/water was included sodas/alcohol was extra ($3-$5) You can also buy pictures at this point of the zip lining its a little pricey so if you can take your own its better. (the pics were good though) After we went horseback riding which was a total disaster. The horses are not trained to listen to the regular signals the only thing they know is that if they don't go fast enough they'll get whipped by the trainers who are in the back of them.

All it took was a call to the front desk to give me account of the lousy customer service.

We didn't stay at the lodge but our resort offered a bus ride here for the activities… zip lining, horseback riding and the super fun water tubing. Had a blast with the mud and hot springs too. Would love to stay here next time!

Great place to spend vacations. The lodge is very comfortable, a bit far and up into the skirts of the volcano, but is worth it. The isolation is compensated by the fantastic water slide, 400mts downhill in under 1 minute. The ziplines are tame in comparison with others I tried elsewhere but great for novices and people who are a bit hesitant of trying. The trip to the river and thermal waters is done by horseback riding or you can use the tractor pulled wagons. The rooms are ample and comfortable, I had a great sleep there. The in-house restaurant can be seen as a bit spartan as you don't get many choices for dinner, but that is the trend in Costa Rica and it makes you consider they are doing the right thing by not importing food from distant places and relying instead in local sources. Good for them.

I just came from costa rica and this is the first place that I went, zip lining is a must, mud bath is really good and the service excellent.
