Review of Park Hyatt Shanghai 5*

Breathtaking view from the heavens First thing you feel when entering your room is that you are living in the clouds. You are so high up you can see for miles. On a clear day the views are insane. Love that our room was on the 81st floor and we had a view of the bund. The rooms are everything you expect from a Park Hyatt, amazing comfortable bed, exquisite bathroom and amazing design. The bed is so comfortable you never want to get out of bed to head down to the amazing breakfast. Breakfast meets all expectations and you can choose from such a large array of foods. They have everything from Shushi to cornflakes. The restaurant is beautifully designed and offers so much. I recommend you go and take a dip in the pool. You will feel like you are swimming with the Gods especially if the cloud cover comes in and you are above the clouds. It truly is such a special and unique hotel. I loved my stay except for my arrival. To anyone staying here do not take a cab as we did. We ended up taking a cab and he said he was running the meter only for us to arrive at the hotel and he kept telling us he couldn't bring us to the hotel as he wasn't allowed. Was so shady but from traveling the world so much I learn you go with your instincts. I got out of the cab, didn't pay and went to the door men. Sadly this hotel lacks any type of structure in terms of doormen. They didn't help us what so ever. At this point I was crying in the lobby waiting for my husband who was trying to figure out why the taxi driver was charging us a fortune and the bellmen wouldn't help us at all. They didn't even try to help me by bringing me in the hotel, I had to wonder around on my own trying to find the hotel lobby. They didn't help my husband understand what was going on or what the price of the tax should have been. They were honestly some of the worst door men I have ever experienced in my over 200+ hotel visits in 30+ countries. If anything I think the Park Hyatt needs to re-look at how they welcome there guess and understand when helping your guest you are meant to help them not the person driving the cab. I expected a lot more from such a high end hotel and would recommend they reevaluate how guest are welcomed.
