Beautiful hotel with first rate staff.

The location is excellent and the rooms are nice and large. Sadly the A/C is terrible and even worse they shut it overnight no matter the temperature. It was 82 outside and still off. The front desk said they shut it depending on temperatures. If they keep it off at 82 not sure when it is turned on. Even when on, it is stuffy and hot in the rooms. Thank goodness I was able to get a fan sent up. Many reviewers complain about cigarette smoke but my room only had the faintest smell of it and the whole floor was non smoking. Perhaps this issue has been fixed. English is very poor at the front desk. Much worse than should be expected at a 5* international hotel.

Good quality hotel, not forgetting its typical Asian touches that are far from Western taste. Pretty clean with lots of customer details (water, chocolates, coffee, tea. ). Spacious rooms and very well equipped bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and spacious. 10 min from the drum towers, the bell, access to the shopping street wall. Typical bars can be found within a 5-minute walk of the property.

Rooms are very nice, but all services are very expensive, and the reception has poor English skills. All in all, the hotel is good, but I miss the cozy friendly feeling that is so obvious in most smaller hotels I've visited.

In terms of both geographical location and the quality of the hotel, this would be the place that I would recommend, especially for the month of December which is the winter season with no snow. Although they have good heating, we prefer to off it and make use of the cool air outside by opening the window a little bit. When we were there, the hotel decided to give my parents a free upgrade from a double-bed room to a suite as there’s not a lot of people staying at this hotel at that time, wanting to give us a good experience of staying at this hotel to encourage us to come back again in the future. This means that the hotel can be quiet, including the lobby. The room have a very comfortable bed as well as a big glass desk, very suitable for business travellers. My 2-night stay at this hotel was worth the money, especially when when I purchased it at a lower cost at Ctrip. They also have bicycle rental services which is free for the 1st 2 hours in case if you don’t the bike-sharing apps or want to use it. Location wise, it is beside the Shaanxi government building and a few mins walk or cycle to the centre which is a tourist attraction called ‘The Bell Tower’.

It is recommend for a meeting, business and pleasure. Located at central city and near to bisness area…

Fantastic hotel great food and service.

Great hotel. Loved the stay.

Room was musty and humid though the heat didn't seem to work well. And room was clearly a smoking room! Although the hotel is a little difficult to find at first, it is tucked just behind the sofitel so easy access to everything.

While dated, the hotel is still beautifully decorated and the room large, with a comfortable bed and lots of amenities. The Sofitel Mybed is comfortable, one of the best bed around. The room showed clear sign of wear and tear, there are not enough plugs. The breakfast buffet is uninspired and of poor quality, very disappointing. Same situation for the executive lounge. The service is ok, a lack of English speaking staff. The spa is a rip-off, who will do their best to overcharge you under some false pretences. However that central location can not be beaten.

Nice hotel. Staff very welcoming and ready to help. Will go back.

It is a complex of hotels in a very father building, with all the Chinese style, this far from the metro stations but they lend bicycles at no cost for 3 hrs, the large rooms and very clean a large window.

I would totally recommend The Sofitel Xian on Renmin Square. Our first time to China and the hotel staff have given us an experience we will remember for a lifetime.
So friendly, helpful and have personalised our stay. We were also upgraded to a suite.
We decided to stay on an extra few days and we didnt have to change rooms.
We travel quite a lot and will be definitely stay at other Sofitel hotels around the world.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the Sofitel. The location inside the city wall is perfect, as some of the sites like the East gate and the bell and drum towers can be reached by walking and exploring the neighborhood. The hotel is also in walking distance from many very local and very good eateries.
The hotel staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. Kevin and Will at the concierge desk went out of their way to recommend local eateries, which turned out to be excellent. Both of them also equipped me with directions and instructions in local language, which was super helpful.
I would definitely stay at the Sofitel again.

This was the second hotel that we stayed in during our stay in China and it was a very good one. The rooms where good, they where not the largest but still very clean and neat. My room had two double beds that were comfortable and allowed for a good, restful nights sleep (pillows are very soft although I am sure you can ask for a firmer one). The bathroom is good again, there is a bath tub with a walk in shower which is nice. My one concern is that the A/C is not powerful at all. In the other room it was broken and we had the room changed to a suite (although that was well handled by the hotel the new rooms A/C only worked in the bedroom and not the living room). Breakfast is served in their all day dining restaurant and it was very good with a very wide range of options (Asia and Western) all of which where being made to fresh during the service. It was very enjoyable and a great start to the day. They also do a take away breakfast if you are leaving the hotel early for a flight. The bar in the lobby is also very nice with a very good range of food and drinks all of which are served hot (bar the drinks they are cold! ). Again with this hotel, bar the check in staff, there was also a lack of English speaking staff. Once again you can overcome the English challenge but one does expect higher level of English competency in a 5 star hotel That said, it was a very good hotel, I had a very enjoyable stay and would stay again.

People lived in two days, like flowers and trees in the yard. Bloom blooming in the winter wind, France plane under patches of yellow leaves that fall, Magpies were singing in the trees … Everything is so quiet. Accommodation in hardware, Renmin square is a bit old (Guangzhou, compared to the Sofitel Macau grades almost) breakfast OK. Very good location, some famous scenic spots have bus station, very convenient.

From these little umbrellas, a bar of chocolate, careful detail on the service and dedication, proving your hotel management.

Well we've all heard of the pub with no beer, well this is the hotel with no wine. On a recent visit I asked for a glass of red wine from China, and told they had none, but served me with a french red at about twice the price — the wine was fine, and when I asked for a second glass the waitress could only pour about half a measure. I suggested that to meet the measure another bottle should be brought, though after much delay I was informed that the dregs I had been given were from the last bottle!

The hotel is centrally located. Located 10-15min walking from Muslim square with good food. The staff at the hotel is helpful and speaks English. They were helpful in arranging guided tour and transportation. The lobby is very nice. We stayed in a junior suite. We were 4 people. The room is big, bed is small (smaller than "full" size). Also, the room, though they claim is nonsmoking, smells uncomfortably like smoke. Overall, good stay.

A fancy façade is no substitute for the outdated facilities and sub-par rooms; nor does it make up for the extreme shortcomings of the service staff. Ineptitude, imperiousness, and discourteousness defined their actions. A blemish on the Sofitel brand name, and a place to avoid unless one is avidly enthused by the prospects of paying more than $100 a night for a service staff that might as well be running a Nazi concentration camp.

Only things to let down the experience was the size of the room is smallish and the staff can only speak limited English.
