A very genuine Hutong hotel with very helpful and genuine staff. This was our third stay here so I think that is a recommendation in itself.

The Double Happiness Hotel is wonderfully named! The totally exotic charm of an old 17th century mansion, an adorable, efficient and truly caring staff (and speaking very good English! ), the typical breakfast, the two flowery and refreshing courtyards, the three menates greeting you at the entrance. Located in the heart of a hutong and yet close to a central metro station. The only downside could be its cost a little high, but the value for money is really there. So if you want to stay in the mood after your days of visits to Beijing, especially do not hesitate any more!

L can't imagine a more ideal hotel for my first experience in China. It is a traditional courtyard inn, hidden away in one of Beijing's famous hutong. Fresh cooked breakfast is served every morning. Staff is very polite and helpful. The rooms are snug and cozy, with plenty of small amenities like slippers and snack baskets. There is a bar, and open-air communal areas with chairs and tables. Lt's conveniently located within walking distance of corner stores, Wu Mart, subway station, etc… As a tourist, l felt at home here. L loved it, and recommend it to anyone staying in Beijing.

Perfect place if you want to escape international chains. Havre de paux as we would say in french! Staff attentive, smiling and english fluent. Will certainly return if I have visitors for Beijing. Clise to Lamas and Confucius Temples, and if you are not lazy walking straight riad to Temple du Ciel. Good for Hutongs discover.

Cool hotel that features traditional courtyards, architecture, and furniture. The service was great, rooms were clean and breakfast was really good.

2 seniors from UK travelling for first time to China and Double Happiness Hotel was our first accommodation. We had requested a more traditional hotel as not keen on modern Western chains and we certainly made the right choice. At the beginning of March it was sooo cold in Beijing but hotel was beautifully warm. Wonderful room and ensuite, lovely staff and great breakfasts — also welcoming and cosy bar and restaurant. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting something a little different.

It was like a dream come true for me … to be able to experience staying in a old traditional chinese hotel that feels more like a home to me! Even my hubby who had always been staying only at those 4-Star/5-Star chain hotels have to agree with me that this hotel is an excellent choice.
And, their staff are so very friendly, courteous and helpful. Our sincere thanks to Sabrina, who helped us with private tour arrangement and to Louise, Indi, Happy and Steven too who were always servicing with a smile!
We will surely stay again at Beijing Double Happiness should we make another visit to Beijing.

Very nice hotel in traditional area of city. Staff are very helpful. We just used Subway system while there or walked as the location is great. Be sure to each at the local restraunts that are on the same street.

This was one of the better hotels that we stayed at during our travel in China. Located in a narrow alley, off the main street, the hotel entrance could be difficult to access by car/taxi. Nice charming ambiance, helpful English-speaking staff, free breakfast, Wifi, and bikes (getting around on bikes in Beijing is easy and fun). Hotel is about 15-20 min bike ride from most attractions (Forbidden City, hutongs, Tiananmen square).

A hotel out of this series in a typical Hutong in the Beijing. Beautiful rooms. Excellent employees.

Hotel is very unique, fully satisfy the imagination of our courtyard, culture is very strong, good breakfast, but even more to recommend their bar and restaurant, which produced the taste very good. Makes people miss the whole hotel.

We really liked staying here. It is clearly not a traditional hotel. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was good. We ate dinner in the bar more than once and were happy with the food. The rooms are comfortable for a short stay — we were there for three nights. Make sure that you look for landmarks when on either major.

Stayed here for a personal leg of a business trip. The alley where it is located a little sketchy by Western Standards, but it's completely safe. Once inside the hotel, the staff is excellent, the rooms comfortable (yet traditional), and the open courtyard is so peaceful. Highly recommend this hotel.

Highly recommended! Very old building, only one storey high, beautiful rooms with Internet and historic ambience. No comparison to the hotels lobby of marble and a soulless room on the 22nd floor. I would visit this hotel again.

Authentic building in an old neighborhood. Quiet area. Very nice and helpful staff. The food is good. Nice rooms, you will not find in a business hotel.
