Management was unbelievably discompassionate and rude. Several guests I stayed with had serious complaints about how they had been mistreated by management and staff. Wouldn't stay here again.

I made a reservation for a week which I never checked into. The inn refused to return any of my deposit from my reservation. Claiming I didn't follow their early checkout policy and that the owners were the only ones who could authorize the refund but that the owners were overseas. It's pretty sad that the hotel feels the need to take advantage of people in this time of uncertainty.

This place makes you feel right at home. We were fortunate enough to be able to afford a private room/private attached bath.
If you book through their website you get breakfast, dinner and a free beer/wine/soda at night. The meals are all vegetarian so that no feels left out.
It was exceptionally clean, quiet after hours, has vending machines for munchies and is close to pretty much everything you could think to do.
Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and also make sure that you feel at home.
I would definitely go back and stay there time and time again!

Great atmosphere in the evening when free dinner is served for guests. A good opportunity to mingle and chat with fellow travellers.

Did u know ppl live here too for 400-600 a month private room and they get free food and drinks id stay here if I didn't have my pets! U have to share bathrooms but some have bathtub & u can look door. Its not helping my feet though. U can also get privet rooms with ur own bathtub & TV but they fill up quick. I like my privacy but this way I can meet other ppl when im here rather than at a hotel by urself always! The stairs are hard to get up too so best if u get lower level. Wifi is bad here for laptops, but they have a chill out movie room! Its My new home away from home! Sad but happy im going home 2marrow miss my cats!

Great pricing and friendly staff. They have rooms of all sizes from zero space and up. Everything feels old in there but for the price you shouldnt expect anything more. We will be staying here again for sure. Downtow Victoria and cheap. That is a win.

Awful, windows can't be closed, very very loud, beeping of the traffic light all the time, one small bed, was a problem to get a 2nd. Blanket! Expensive for what is offered! Stay away! We left, there should be a refund, as the policy says to cancel at 18h latest the day before. Found a beautiful quiet B&B for less money. Back to happy.

This used to be a cool place. Unfortunately it has changed and no longer serves food in the lounge nor has a cool crowd. It serves gross free dinners. Free breakfasts are okay. It's way too hot inside the rooms and common areas.

Located in beautiful downtown Victoria on Pandora Ave this hostel is more like a professional and clean inn with it's own unique character and charm. With plenty of excellent rooms, comfortable beds, washrooms, laundry services, unlimited coffee and tea, big communal kitchen, included breakfast, dinner, and a specialty drink in their lounge your good to go wherever your adventures may take you. An excellent and friendly experience that I would highly recommend, especially for those on a budget.

Cute hostel in downtown! Walking distance to downtown attractions. Breakfasts and dinners are included in price and the staff are nice! The room is a little noisy being not very sound proof and traffic right outside. The shared bathrooms are very clean, but you have to remember to bring your own shampoo and shower gel!

The free breakfast and dinner is definitely a big plus, if you want to safe so money on food. They even have a bar with a free drink for guests in there. Wifi was pretty decent. But I've seen cleaner hostels, with better furniture. The kitchen was in a good shape though. Overall I did enjoy it and would recommend it.

Such an amazing place. The staff are incredible. The food, the accommodations, the people and the lovely environment. A must for anyone looking into hostels and even people who are not muat experience such an amazing place. I hope to one day soon come back for a longer stay.

Great hostel! Clean rooms, clean bathrooms. Breakfast was simple and good. Stay includes dinner which surprised me by the quality (again, simple and good). Has a bar where people hangout, staying gives you 1 free drink. Several services offered for reasonable prices. Highly recommend. Very good stay.

Excellent value for money.
I was on a single room, small but everything we need. Comfort is certainly sketchy but that's about what you would expect when you arrive in a hostel!
The reception on arrival is expeditious but grounded. Breakfast is rather basic but sufficient.

First of all thanks for the nice time in Victoria! +very friendly staff ++breakfast and dinner 4 free! — also delicious + the bartender was fancy +central located +safe (with supplementary door 1. Floor) +modern -small room -no lift All in all perfect for this price :) ;)

For the price its good. Even if you're not still a backpacker but don't like paying for an expensive hotel it's a great middle ground. It's a hostel, good vibe, but old but good for a night. Parking lot is close by and reasonable price, there is parking right at the hostel as well but limited and usually full. Front desk is great! Free drink and dinner/breaky.

We stayed one night in the Tokyo suit which was located in 143, government St. The bed was not comfortable. The mattress was very old. The microwave didn't work at all. We didn't contact the front desk to fix the microwave because we only stayed for one night and didn't wanna spend time waiting for anyone come fix it but we left a note to them. Hope they will fix it for the next customers. But this hotel still holds my credit card for one night cost and it has been pending in my credit card for 2 weeks since we checked out. They already charged the fee when we checked in at the front desk. But we phoned the hotel last week about it. They said they will phone the bank to drop the hold. However, they made another hold on the credit card now. I don't recommend anyone checks in this hotel since their dishonour usage on the client's credit card is very annoyed.

Clean, well-maintained, great location, comfortable, safe, friendly staff, sweet tunes in the lounge area… what more could you want from a hostel? I stayed alone in a small private room with a small window and a sink, but there were cupboards and room under the bed for stuff, just as big as you need for one or two people. I love this place, I will be back again the next time I'm in Victoria! (Trip Hop Tuesdays ftw! )

Great quality/price. They offer free breakfast and dinner which are both pretty good. Staff is friendly and helpful. Vibe is a bit weird with people of all ages apparently living there. The bar and kitchen are good. Good location.

This place is great! It was my first time staying in a hostel and I would totally recommended it. They have free breakfast and dinner and they are both delicious. Everything was clean and my room was nice.

Great budget place if you want to pay reasonable price with quality sleep. They even provide you with the dinner, which taste pretty nice! I stayed here 4 nights in total, and loved the staying. First night was in a single room with no window, and the rest in a dorm which accommodates 4 people. Dorm rooms were even better. Shower is convenient. Safe atmosphere. Hmm what else do we need when backpacking?

Couple of my friends and me stayed in a dorm room. Location is great — right in the downtown. Dorms are very tightly packed with bunker beds. They did provide a blanket, pillow and a sheet. Temperature inside was good in the winter time. If you need use the locker in the room you need to bring your own lock. Bathrooms are good and equipped with hot water all the time. The food provided is of very poor quality. Water was mixed with apple and orange juice. Dinner was also not that great. We also had the complimentary drink ice tea vodka (I am unsure if it had any vodka). Staff were very friendly and we enjoyed our stay. It is a cheap place in a great location. But, complimentary food is not a great thing. You might have to find alternatives for breakfast and dinner.

This is such a lovely place for people who don't care much for living space. I lived here for 14 days. — The staff are nice, courteous & straight forward. — You get what you're told at the start — Food is healthy & truly sumptuous — The washrooms are shared & are clean. Wish the staff said somewhere on number of times, each washrooms are cleaned per day. — Common kitchen has everything you would need to cook. Bottomline : This is your college room dorm with importance to cleanliness & low cost living. I'm truly delighted I found this place.

Fantastic hostel. Dorms were clean. Same with the washrooms. Staff were friendly and super helpful. They'll take care of your age no problem. There's also a pretty cheap bar.

The free dinner was amazing. They try to accommodate for food restrictions too! Like gluten free and vegan. The room was small but cozy and included a mini fridge! The sheets were a bit worn out and the bed was terribly uncomfortable. Overall great service, great location, and awesome free food +beverages (one free cocktail every night! ) Only suggestion would be to improve the beds!

Nice place with lovely employees. Loved the game nights and other activities to meet other backpackers, but they cancelled all of it in my last week. : (I had 2 leakages in my room, all my stuff was wet (even in the lockers) and did not feel very safe. Did not get any compensation. Food is the same every day.

So like, the whole thing is that they're cheaper than hotels, but the savings weren't really worth the hassle. For $100, we got a hard bed in a small private room (the bed was half the room), a mini fridge, and a table with a chair. Shared bathroom. It was fine, certainly a decent place to sleep, but in hindsight I probably would have opted for an actual hotel room that didn't make me feel like a sardine. In addition, you have to pay for a towel, have your own shampoo/soap, etc. Basic essentials for hotels costing around the same. There are quiet hours, which is nice, but we went to bed before those hours started and there were a couple instances of people talking in the hallway (not much of a sound barrier). There's some nice perks if you're actually backpacking. Free breakfast and dinner. We missed breakfast, but had dinner. Of the two dishes served, one was entirely flavorless, might as well have been water, but it was free and healthy! They also offer a free nightly drink to guests (we don't drink, so we didn't take advantage). They seem to have an option to work to help pay for your stay, which is definitely cool. The staff was really nice and laid back. Definitely a cool environment, just not really for me.

Stayed for one night in private room while visiting the city. Very friendly staff. Locked gate leading to the rooms, felt quite secure. Room and washrooms were clean. At least 5 washrooms on the floor so one was usually free at all times. Had the complimentary dinner, creamy soup on rice, decent tasting and convenient. There's a kitchen with everything you would need. Unfortunately the fan in the room window meant that you couldn't fully close the window and the draft that came in was pretty chilly. We did get an extra blanket from the front desk.

Location of the inn was great, right in the centre of everything. Easy to walk to all the places to go to. The staff was great they were very helpful when needed. Food was great aswell, Dinner could've been a bigger portion. Great Inn for its value and location overall a great experience for a cheap stay in Victoria you will get your money's worth here!

Location is very central, the single room with shared bathroom was small, but clean and quiet. Service is friendly. Dinner has 2 vegan choices of a small bowl of food, about half a meals worth of food. Breakfast is a buffet of moderate quality. Food and drinks at the cafe are cheap. Decent value for the price.

Helpful staff and a good assortment of guests, quite a few in our older age group. The location is right downtown. We met some interesting people and had good conversations — and that's the main reason for preferring the hostel experience. The breakfast was kind of in the middle as far as hostel breakfasts go. I understand the new management are making improvements and I hope one of very next things they do is replace the mattesses and sheet sets in the double rooms. We never… got a sound night's sleep because the sheets were constantly slipping off at the corners and exposing the thin mattress which was covered in heavy black vinyl and was cold. Be cautioned that the double rooms may be even smaller than you think because of a sink and cabinetry. The open mic night was outstanding.

Clean, cozy. Room was warm up but fans were provided. Smaller than expected, but that's fine, it worked well. Breakfast was a little cutthroat, but the immediate area is dotted with restaurants. Would use again.

Bunk beds were very flimsy and made A LOT of noise. Seemed very unstable. Washrooms were very dirty. Breakfast was not good — only toast and cut up bananas. No cups for coffee. Bar had cheap drinks which was great. Need two pieces of ID to show which was ridiculous. Location itself was great as it was close to stores and restaurants and cafes. No elevator which was a pain for luggage carriers. Nice staff. Lockers located outside of room. Wifi was not good.

Great cheap place to stay. I was able to do my laundry, sleep in a comfortable bed, get a pint at the bar onsite, and was close to everything to do in downtown Victoria. Highly recommend for travelers on the cheap.

Small, cozy, young, and cheap. Exactly what a young tourist is looking for when travelling canada on a budget. Good central location, everywhere is walkable.

Great hostel with a casual home atmosphere. Good prices and a good location to the downtown area. They have a quiet time policy but it can still get a bit loud with the amount of people coming in and out during odd hours of the night.

I was only there for one night, just to get a good nights' sleep. To save money, I booked a bed in the dorm. I had to sleep in the top bunk. Whenever I or the bottom bunk girl moved, even the slightest, the whole bed would shake and make noises. It was very hard to be comfortable when you knew that any small movement would disturb the whole room and also shake the bed of the other girl. I was not informed towels would be at the receiption in the morning, so I had to use a small towel that a brought to dry myself after showering. The place was quiet though, and I never had to wait for the bathroom; there was always one available on my floor.

Room was unbearably hot even with window open (which also made it noisy from traffic). Beds were also pretty uncomfortable with rickety frames and thin matteresses so all in all very difficult to get any decent sleep! "Continental" breakfast was also pretty limited, basically just toast and a tiny banana section. And hostel Wi-Fi was also almost impossible to get to work.

Small rooms but great value. Perfectly located with helpful staff. Would recommend to any and all youthful lovebirds vacationing in Victoria on a budget.

Reception open 24/24. Night not too expensive ($ 22 Cad). Possibility of washing ($ 5 for laundry, washing, drying), free Wi — Fi, bar and restaurant in the Inn. Fairly clean places.

The have elevator shaft privte rooms with no proper ventalationand the staff are a bunch of kids. They also discrimanate as well worst food as well, And they over serve all the time I would not send my dog to stay thier.

The room was clean, and many washrooms which are also clean and convinient. The staffs are all kind and in good mood. Kitchen is big, also. I highly recommend that buying groceries at the near store and cook by yourself.

Stayed for about 5 months in the off season. Lovely staff, lovely building. Clean, and decorated well. Great bar to meet people in. Would be 5 stars if they took more responsibility for their storage area. I got many valuables stolen. Still better than most hostels.

To cut a long story short: it was awesome.

Ocean Island is where you want to stay when your in Victoria if your looking for an awesome time in this beautiful city. Explore the old town by day and head back to the ocean island pub below for a friendly atmosphere with great food on the cheap. Music is awesome with many jams and drinks served! Best hostel on the West Coast.

The restaurant is amazing. Globally vegetarian, delicious, creative, super friendly staff, filling and very affordable. A excellent surprise.

I stayed 4 nights in this Hostel, kitchen and door room (just 4 not 6 bedroom) was small but good enough for this time. Bathrooms are clean and big enough. The Area are perfect, get everything pretty fast, even Chinatown, Pier etc. Nice and friendly staff. Every day some activities in the bar. If u from European and miss some real bread, go to the Wild Oven Bakery, just 2min walk, there are amazing ;).

This place is solid. Well appointed kitchen, super friendly staff, convenient location.

We got a private room, they are tiny like their website clearly states, but the food was good, service was great and it was pretty clean. I will go there again without hesitation.
