Reviews of Chelsea Hotel Toronto 4*
March Break stay for 2 nights with the kids and it was a blast! So many great Free activities for the kids all day long! Our second time staying here and won't be the last. Staff are always super friendly. Location is great, so close to so much!
Nice and clean friendly my kids enjoy staying here. 👍🙂
Wonderful atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing view! I would stay here again if I find myself in Toronto.
After travelling for 3 days on the Canadian train, we were very glad to see the Chelsea Hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms, soft beds & the T-bar has a good selection of dinners. We had the steak which was cooked superbly and the Indian butter chicken, again cooked just right.
The rooms in this hotel were very dirty. They smelled. Stains on carpet, peeling wallpaper, ripped curtains, mold in tub, dirty linens. Horrible and completely dissatisfied. Incredibly overpriced for this quality,
Everything was perfect … service, room service, restaurant or fast food and the spot. Thank you.
Very nice customer service 😘
I would stay here again bc of location and price. But, it is quite dated in many rooms and locations. We had a balcony but 20 cigarette butts scattered, not swept up by attendants. We booked this hotel for the water slide but it wasn’t even open, only Friday to Sunday. Pool area is quite dated, and didn’t seem clean. Need a lot more chairs for parents, comfy loungers would be ideal, not the cheap plastic ones there currently. It is also steamy and hot in kids pool area… windows should open and better ventilation. Families should be able to use both pool areas, not just the one on the second floor. It’s dingy. In our room, the wall vent was hanging off and loose, making it a hazard for my kids. For $270 a night, with that many rooms and guests, they should use profits to upgrade and at the very least, fix hazards and sweep disgusting cigarette butts. Hallway on our fourth floor was quite dated and depressing looking. But, location wise it’s great. Parking over priced. $40 a night. Right beside the hotel is $20 a night. Park there.
Very friendly staff. Clean rooms.
Great and Helpful Staff. Great location and easy access.
My partner and I stayed at Chelsea Hotel for a New Years Eve getaway, after it had been recommended by a colleague. Although it says that Chelsea Hotel is a 4 star hotel, our stay suggests that it was a 2 or 3 star hotel. The location is excellent, but the staff, facilities, and amenities were all below average. Front desk staff were not helpful and one even deliberately lied to my face. I am sure it is extremely “professional” to lie to guests and patrons. I have received better service from a motel. When I complained about it upon checking out, the staff I spoke to did nothing. The lobby was grand and lush, but the rooms and hallways were all below average. It simply was not worth the price. All in all, it was a regrettable experience. I would not stay there again.
We had an absolutely TERRIBLE experience at this hotel. This was the most disgusting hotel we've stayed at by far. We were in the area for a sickkids trip and upon arrival we found pubic hair still in the shower from previous guests. The room was disgusting, at BEST it was wiped down quickly and had the beds made before we got there. They switched us rooms to a "cleaner" one that night and when we woke up in the morning there were cockroaches on the wall behind the TV. They moved us rooms again after I spent a full day of appointments at sickkids with my infant son to another room that also had cockroaches and flies everywhere. In addition, there were small blood stains on the curtains which sadly isn't even my main complaint. After finally getting into a fourth and final room there were no bugs or pubic hair but to say this stay was unsatisfactory would be a huge understatement. We were there with two small children and expected WAY better. Not to mention that during these Covid times, things should be decently clean at the absolute bare minimum. Im not one to complain about things being imperfect but this was the worst hotel experience ive ever had. I should NOT have to fight to be put into 4 different rooms over the span of not even a full 48 hours to get a clean f*cking room. I would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone. Awful awful awful. Picture of one of our nice little roach friends attached.
Fabulous. Brought us a fridge too. Great staff. Very Covid ready and even a decent price. Short walk to many major hospitals.
Amazing to help sick kids families out. Both my sons have health problems the youngest cardiac problems the oldest had CDH at birth leaving him with just 1 1/2 lungs. So we have been staying at the Chelsea for the last 12 years for surgeries hospitals stay or just even checkups and every time we have a great time and an amazing experience!
Very convenient, near from everything and Nice Staff!
Absolutely appalled was not given a refund and won’t be back this was there covid cleaned rooms puke 🤢
Other than the elevators being sketchy the hotel itself is really nice and the staff are friendly!
Terrible experience with this hotel and their staff.
I had arrived here at 1am after getting off a 4h flight from Toronto. As I was checking in, the front desk staff recognized that my booking was on my brother's name, as he had paid for the stay for me. He said that we would have to change the booking name directly with booking. Com.
After we had confirmed the name change with booking dot com, the front of house staff said they would still not accept me for a check in, even though the name had been changed to mine, and he had recieved verbal confirmation from my original booker and written confirmation from booking. Com. The front desk staffer, Jordan, insisted that he still (3am) couldn't let me stay in the room due to legal issues and needed verbal confirmation from booking. Com (in which they bookong. Com said they cannot do).
During all of this, the front desk staff kept pushing other rooms on me to pay for for the night, even though the original room had already been paid for. I was waiting in the lobby until 4:30am with no help or update from any of them. I then decided to leave and find a room in another hotel.
Overall, I've never had such an unpleasant experience with a hotel in my life. Every one of the staff were eztremely unhelpful, rude and outright greedy.
Comfy rooms, with great cutomer service staff.
Been coming here for decades! Nice staff and great location, however, its really showing its age and needs to be totally refurbished.
I haven’t done reviews in a while, but I had to do one for this hotel. The moment I got to the front desk I felt welcomed. They were very accommodating. I get anxiety being in a large city, but the way things were managed with the issues with our vehicle being too tall for the Parking garage, and late check out, I was treated with the most respect, and not an ounce of burden was felt. We were having issues finding a place for dinner as we arrived late, and were trying to get take out, when all else failed we went downstairs to their on-the-go market… this was 9:30 at night, they made my family full meals and are open all hours. The customer service has been amazing so far, and we are back here next week for the entire week, I am so glad we are staying here again. Thank you!
Nice views close to great shopping centres, restaurants and bars.
This has a lovely swimming pool which I enjoyed using very much. The location of this hotel for conferences is perfect. The concierge was also helpful arranging trips to Niagara Falls.
Great location. Amenities abound within walking distance. Clean. Friendly staff.
Had a great time and a great meal at the Mysteriously Yours Dinner Theatre. Wonderful staff, wonderful cast, great time had by all.
Our stay was great other than some noisy people who were up late last night talking very loudly in the hall and running in the hall when most people were trying to sleep. The staff have always been courteous. The Wi-Fi sucks kept booting me out. This stay the rooms look older and a bit beat up. Missing trim in bathroom and marks on the wall. The beds are nice and comfy. I miss my home though and I’m only here because my daughter had heart surgery.
Nice location right in the middle of everything… friendly staff & good service.
If an issue arises, management is quick to act and rectify the issue. Friendly staff, and close to major attractions in downtown Toronto.
I've never met a staff at a hotel that goes above and beyond to meet requests like the staff at the Chelsea does. So grateful for all they do. It's a pleasure to make the Chelsea my home away from home when in Toronto.
The staff and room was fabulous very quickly to get anything I needed the rooms are very clean I can't wait to go back to stay very polite and respectful anything that they could do was there top of the list.
Great location close to lots of activities and restaurants.
Nice sized rooms, great staff and good central location. Convention I attended was well run with good food. On the downside, rooms are a little long in the tooth and outside traffic noise is very noticeable. Stayed in 1150.
Great staff in the lobby area and bars. Friendly and courteous. Nothing is too much trouble of them.
Absolutely fantastic. Couldn’t ask for more helpful staff x.
Huge hotel with fabulous hard-working staff. From the reception staff to the concierge to the cleaning staff — everyone was fantastic. Great amenities for people from all walks of life. I have nothing negative to say about the Chelsea Hotel. I highly recommend it.
Got checked in really quickly by a very friendly member of staff and the hotel looks fantastic too. Good extras like pool, spa, gift shop and lovely restaurants/bar.
The elevator from the parking ramp was filthy. Although the room was nice with an open balcony the bathroom was disappointing. The sink faucet was loose basically not totally attached to the sink. One of the handles had a missing a missing part. The toilet was not working well finally to the point it would not flush. We reported it then 2.5 hours later it was not repaired. I also stepped on an exposed nail in the rooms carpeting which I did not report because I feel no on…e cares. We were there for 7 days, for the first 5 days only 4 of six elevators operational with long waits. Day 6 which was Friday it went down to 3 and then Saturday 2. Although one manager helped us to stay an extra night due to an error on booking most of the other management does not show any concern. I was told on the day of checkout when I again stated complaints that I “was lucky to have the rate you have as we can charge up to $500.00 for the room if they wanted too”. This was for a small room with two beds. There is one entrance out to Younge street that smell like urine and trash most of the days we were there. Overall to will give it a 4/10. As we try to go to Toronto at least yearly I would recommended the Holiday Inn Express on Carleton which is two blocks away which is full service with a great staff to the Best Western on the lake.
Our 5 month old baby had surgery at The Hospital for Sick Children Sickkids and they gave us a great rate. It's only a couple blocks from the hospital. We had booked two nights and although we found out late in the afternoon that we didn't need the second night, they only charged us for the one night, even though they were within their rights to charge us for two nights. The only negative was that we had to pay $20 for parking and $2 for the telephone in our room (no long distance, just local to discuss possibility of staying at Ronald McDonald House Charities Toronto).
Absolutely loved this hotel! The staff was amazing and the room was nice! It is in the downtown area so everything is in walking distance! Definitely will come back next year!
Location and service are very good very close to everything Restaurants, &shopping stores.
Lovely big room, nice view, plenty on sockets, even usb outlets in the lights. Helpful staff.
I loved our stay at The Chelsea Hotel. Large hotel but we weren’t disturbed by other guests. Staff were extremely friendly when checking in, asking the typical tourist questions of the concierge to checking out. Our room was cleaned so well and the room was so spacious. I would love to stay again if we ever get back to Toronto. It was close to everything we needed — train station, shops and restaurants/bars.
5 stars for sure! Loved the place.
Very dissappointed in the hotel. We were in the emergecy room at the hospital twice in the past 4 days with two of our kids, including until 3 AM this morning (i have the discharge papers to prove this). Then another one of our kids got a stomache bug and puked this morning. There is no way we could make our trip toToronto this weekend. When we tried to cancel and reschedule they were unaccomodating. Charging us fees or making us pay more to change the date. I could understand if we just canceled for no good reason, but health reasons and going to the emergency room twice in 4 days is a lot. All I wanted was to change the date, but that woud have almost doubed the price.
Check-in was easy and Jonathan at the front desk was friendly and helpful. He was able to secure an extended checkout for me until 12:30 at no cost which made a huge difference for my travel plans. Thanks very much. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens felt very luxurious. The only reason this is not a 5-Star review is the room coffee was instant (a Keurig would go a long way) and the low-flow shower head did not have nearly enough pressure. Overall, good value for the money.
Went for lunch at the Indian restaurant. It was very pleasant. The food was delicious and yhere was quite a bit of variety including desserts. The service was great and prompt. Very friendly staff and clean environment. Would recommend and I look forward to coming back.
Hotel was great! My kids loved the pool area. We loved the buffet even though it wasn't really like a US buffet. They give you a lot of food. The location was walkable to everything. We had a great time.
After four weeks of travelling this is the best hotel we've stayed in. The service was impeccable. All of the staff were friendly and enthusiastic, we were made to feel very welcome. A big thank you to Kent at reception who went out of his way to help us. This hotels is great for kids, they have the facilities and staff to keep children entertained and safe. Tip, try the corkscrew water slide it's a lot of fun. Excellent downtown location I'd definitely recommend this hotel. Glen.
After waiting in a queue for 20 minutes just to check in, my room was not available by 3:45 PM. A "rush" was put in to housekeeping. I was offered a lesser room (with no reduction in cost I paid) or a better "club" level room for $80 more. Neither an acceptable option. Johnathan at the front desk (while training a new hire) rolling his eyes and laughing while telling me they are a 3 star hotel and any hotel would be the same way. I have NEVER been treated this way at a respected and well known hotel. Rush on housekeeping means could be an additional 45 mins to an hour before I can check in… never mind I have an event to get ready for this evening. Asked for the head office/director/manager contact info to lodge a complaint (again with the eye rolls) front desk managers card given to me. If you're looking for excellent customer service do not stay here. Calling the manager now.
Always have had god experience while staying here. Recently I had to cancel a reservation past the cancellation deadline. I explained my circumstances to management and they were kind enough not to charge me! Great customer service, thank you again!
The Chelsey is a great choice when considering staying downtown TO. The rooms a comfortable and clean and pricing is reasonable. The staff is extremely friendly and although very busy they kept the kids entertained and moved guests quickly through the line. However, the parking garage is a terrifying tight squeeze. If you drive anything larger than a compact car I wouldn't recommend parking in the underground at the hotel. We would definitely stay again.
The hotel was nice, rooms were slightly dated and the washroom was a little tight. The staff was very kind and helpful. We lost our car keys in the hotel and almost thought we couldn’t get home because our spare key was in the car as well. Jason, Glen, Alin and Devan were quick to find our keys and were like life savers for us that day. I would recommend staying here, it is right in downtown which is very convenient and the staff is great!
Very disappointing hotel, badly cleaned room (stained sheets, yellow bathtub, damaged ceiling, dirty armchair…), very poorly soundproof, we hear the piping of the adjoining rooms all night. Attention the deposit of 250 dollars is kept 10 days on the Visa card, this is not indicated… Very bad experience. The only positive thing is that the hotel is very well located in the city, close to everything.
The hotel is OK. It is not a business clientele. Prices are reasonable. It is very well located in the city center.
Very handsome. Very efficient and pleasant service. Standard and comfortable rooms; Own.
Nice and clean, with friendly staff and very organized. Great breakfast buffet (which you pay aside), in excellent and central location in Toronto.
Very good hotel with pool, Jacuzzi and sauna. A very entertaining robot in the entrance hall. The only downside is that the Windows leave a lot of noise at night. One of my favorite hotels to stay in Toronto.
Stayed there last night. Arrived at the hotel around 1pm expecting to check our bags in for a couple hours, but we were lucky enough that our room was ready so we were able to check in. Fast and friendly service at the desk. Rooms were clean, bed was comfy. Despite being downtown didn't notice much noise from outside. We were happy with our stay. The location is great, the price was right, and would definitely stay again.
Location is good… close to downtown and other areas of interest in the city, including hospitals and universities. Customer service has always been great in my three stays at this hotel. The deluxe and kitchenette suite rooms are not very modern but still clean. I assume the club rooms are more nicely decorated.
When we first got there the hotel reception looked really nice so was expecting the same for the rooms as soon as you got into the lift for your floor the hall way into the rooms smelt of stale carpets when we opened the door into are first room was small but we lay straight on the bed and we realised the matteress was actually uneven had a big dint in it so we rang reception straight away and told them ive neaver had to call down and tell a hotel there matteress were uneven they moved us to a room to doors down and again the mattress was in poor condition to the point we called again and they moved us to a nicer floor king size room which was nicer and bigger bed was much better were we had a balcony but the balcony was so full of bird shit we couldn't step out on it for the four nights we stayed. Every morning around 7 or 8 we were woken to construction because the windows are so old they couldn't be arsed to sound proof them the safe in the room didn't work food way over priced parking price was ridiculous 40 dollars a day only nice thing staff were friendly …
Lovely stay at the Chelsea hotel. And a great time attending meetings in their boardroom. Beds were comfy and food delicious. I was very satisfied with my stay until a week after leaving I still did not have my security deposit returned. I called midweek and was told to wait as it takes 3 to 5 business days. At the end of the week I called again and they then tell me I was suppose to pick it up before leaving. I now have to wait till they are back in Monday and they can process and mail me a refund. Being without my $250 has put me in a tight spot being we live pay cheque to pay cheque.
Nice Hotel Close tolles the City Center, always again.
Hotel has good location. Rooms are in good condition and well maintenand. This is a value for money hotel, so you get decent rooms for what you pay. Nothing really to complain about except that the size of the rooms can be small, but based on the price you pay, it is not a deal breaker. The service overall is good. Would definitely recommend this if you are staying in downtown, walking distance to Eaton centre and a lot of good restaurants.
Nice family hotel. We stayed in the two bedroom suite since we are a family of 6. There was one single bed and one Murphy bed and a pullout couch. There really needs to be a better mattress for the pull out. There were some lovely surprises like complimentary cookies and stuffed toys for the kids. The restaurant pricing down stairs was reasonable for lunch however the breakfast buffet was not very good for the price. Overall it was okay and I would try it again.
Good location and service. Excellent breakfast. Only the price is very high.
It's dirty! Our room was only half cleaned when we checked in. There was coffee in the sink, stains in the bath tub and the garbage wasn't dumped. The doors coming into the building from the over priced parking lot were so disgusting I didn't want to touch them. The elevators have brass and it was full of patina and just nasty looking. I think they need to do a full work over if they want to keep charging the prices they do. Also both restaurants were closed at 10:30 pm on a Saturday when we went for dinner. Not impressed at all and won't be back.
Free Wi-fi and good speed, clean rooms and comfy beds, not luxurious at all but excellently located, to walk to the city's tourist attractions and just two blocks from an underground train station.
Great location. You can easily walk to most places in downtown Toronto and also the ferry terminal to Toronto island. The rooms look a bit dated and worn but really neat and clean. There are loads of restaurants stones throw away and the hotels restaurants are good themselves. They provide free parking to in-house guests. Overall it was a pleasant stay.
The room was very clean and nice, with a very comfortable bed, chair with ottoman, and desk area. The bathroom was clean, no build up of grim or mould present. It is a fairly cheap alternative to other hotels in the area, considering it is in downtown Toronto. The front desk, while friendly, was quite slow: I was next in line and there was a receptionist available, yet he made me wait for about seven minutes while he seemingly checked his email or finished something with the previous client. The elevators were a bit dirty as well, as I found some beer cans in one and wrappers in another. Overall, it was a positive experience, and with bars and restaurants literally across the street from the hotel and inside, it was a pleasant stay.
Room a little small, without micro wave or fridge, but very friendly and efficient employers. Located in the perfect place.
I am totally agree with all the people. Stay there worst experience ever. Room didn't look like on the website pictures at all, they are dirty same as the halls and stinky. You can really see that they have not renovate the hotel for very long time. The walls papers are falling down and they didn't even change the beddings. Is pretty scary use the elevators due the old that they are I was afraid that they would fall down or get stuck for real. I will never stay here again even if they would pay me to do it. This is the perfect hotel for a horror movie and I'm not kidding if somebody don't believe me just stay one night there and you'll see what I'm talking about. They should really close it is not worth it. Waste of money.
The rooms are clean the people are welcoming very nice view of Yonge Street very peaceful pay parking cafe and very expensive beverage.
Very well located hotel with a swimming pool, jacuzzi and a nice fitness room. The rooms are spacious. A hotel I recommend.
I liked it all the way. Excellent location, comfortable, clean, spacious room, friendly and central. The buffets well, close to the malls and other attractions. Indeed almost all your staff speak English but there is a willingness to help you if you do not speak perfectly. I would stay again.
Perfect location and amazing staff. The hotel is well maintained and the room I had was well spaced and very pleasing. I love the gorgeous view. The price was fair and the restaurants were really good with very fine food. I'd like to have my breakfast included in the hotel's price, but for my purpose, it made my week.
Disappointed… Took my family, daughters aged 4 & 8. We live 4 hours away and thought it would be nice to go for a mini getaway with them. The pool & kids activities were what drew us in. When we went down to the pool, we couldn't even get in because it was so packed. The pool for a 1500 hotel was smaller then the average pool with way less rooms. We were told that my daughters couldn't go down the water slide; the main reason why we booked this room. My 4 year old "couldn't swim across the length of the pool" as they stated. I was going to catch her at the bottom and she could swim just fine, just not the length; was still told no. Then my 8 year old daughter was "too tall" to go down. This was very upsetting. The kids & teen room posted online is NOTHING like in person. Dirty, unorganized, outdated, furniture in teen room had cigarette shavings all over it. Kids put their money in the machines and 2 of the 4 didn't even work. Parking was $40 a night which I thought was a lot. Breakfast in the morning was $25 an adult so we passed that up too. Our room was clean and what we expected. Our biggest disappointment was the kids activities. It was not at all what we had anticipated. We would not recommend this hotel to families with young children who are looking to be occupied.
Location was great! Less than 10 min walk to Eaton Centre. My family and I had a great time at the hotel. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by a robot in the main lobby, popcorn and lemonade and face painting. Fun times at the pool which has an amazing slide. Ordered pizza from the marketplace within the hotel and that was good. Staff was very polite and informative. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting stay in the city for a good time.
The king bed was to die for. So soft yet firm. Pillows and blankets make you feel like you're floating on air. I called and asked for extra pillows ugh! They brought them up, no problem. The elevators always had a long line up in the mornings and in the evenings. Then again I stayed on the weekend (peak days at any hotel). Breakfast costs 20 dollars for all you can eat. Affordable yet pricey. Great customer service, A1.
Very good service at the restaurant. Very comfortable beds. The gym is OK and the pool very good.
A favourite for my family as the location is excellent. Close to Sick Kids hospital and the Eaton Centre, this hotel is almost always very busy and full of guests. Really catered to families with children, there is a kids arcade room, family pool and hot tub, and a large and well stocked family fun room including Lego, televisions and game systems, toys and fort building supplies, crafts, and even live rabbits! Fun fact, March break is a fantastic time to be at The Chelsea! There are organized activities for kids and families and the ever popular robot which interacts with the kids! Adults without kids will also appreciate the Chelsea. They have a separate floor with private pool and lounge area for adults only. I have no choice but to travel with my kids, but if I didn't have to, this separate adult area would be so appreciated!
A very central hotel where you have everything close by, not luxurious but you have what you need, small rooms but very comfortable and clean.
I went with many expectations but I ended up disappointing. We were five nights of which two woke us up because the emergency alarm was activated and without checking we were made to go down at 2 and 3 in the morning. The notice was all in English, which was difficult in the state of sleep that we had understand what was going on, obviously the elevators did not work and we had to go down the stairs 21 floors. Then there was never an exact explanation of what happened. Imagine the situation.
The location is very good not to say excellent.
The pool for kids is very good although the lifeguards lacks a bit of touch with people. There is another exclusive pool for adults.
The staff is attentive but no one speaks Castilian as the publication says.
Perfect location. Huge Hotel with 1600 rooms. Good breakfast. Good team of people.
Great location near shopping and entertainment. Usually pretty reasonable prices and comfortable rooms. Check out the out side court yard in spring and summer. Check pricing against the hotel website as it often offers great discounts plus CAA/AAA discount. Parking is expensive but more convenient than outdoor lots in the area with in/out privileges.
Excellent place to stay. Good food and nice staff. Pool and jacuzzi is great too. They also offer daycare service, and a game room for kids, pools and water slides are also available for fun. This hotel is pet friendly, I guess dogs and cats kinda pet, I brought my human pet. Lol!
It's a grand hotel and I imagine in its prime it was absolutely gorgeous but now it could use an overhaul of the carpeting at the very least. The rooms are cozy but not tight, and always clean. The pool is a bit small but there is the bonus of a waterside and a hot tub, sauna, and exercise room.
Spent a few nights there in early December 2017. The location is great, and is by far the biggest positive. The restaurant had good food. Staff were friendly and helpful. The floor and room were standard fare, nothing surprising. I found the hotel pretty noisy on my floor, but that's the guests not the hotel itself, but did impact my sleep.
Very good hotel. Super Central and the beds very comfortable. Highly recommended.
Everything is very close ideal for the tourist what not. I like is that they ask for a deposit and it is almost obligatory to have credit card.
Super location. In downtown Toronto. Very comfortable and very good treatment of the employees.
Excellent location. Shopping and restaurants are all within a walk. Staff are amazing and very attentive to the needs of your stay. Rooms are clean and the views on higher floors are quite nice. Can not say enough good things about this stay. I will keep the Chelsea on my list of excellent places to stay in Toronto.
The hotel is very large and centrally located in Toronto. We had a standard Chelsea room. The room was clean, but did not correspond in any way to the description of the tour operator. It was outdated, the furniture worn and shabby.
Also, it was very noisy so you could hear every room neighbor.
The breakfast was fine, the selection adequate and tastefully fine.
All in all "OK" for a short stay, if you want to stay longer, maybe choose a better category or another hotel.
Nice staff. Good room. But it's very overflowing. No problem, actually. But at the reception each long wait.
Stay away! As I'm currently staying in the hotel for a wedding this is the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. My order of events has been as follows. 1) when we arrived for 3pm check in we were told they were still cleaning our rooms and we would have to wait. 2) As compensation. They moved us into a room on a higher floor with a view. This room has coffee stains up the wall (I hope that's coffee), no AC, and leaking taps. (Our friends had a leaking toilet so I guess it could've been worse) 3) The "upgraded" room as it turns out is smaller than what would have been our original. 3) they explained to me the ac was out today and no one had ac. (Except maybe our friends room with the leaky toilet. There's works pretty well) As of right now I would absolutely not recommend this hotel. Toronto is a beautiful city with much more to offer than the Chelsea hotel. Do better for yourself.
The service from the arrival was very bad. My reservation was for 5 people and I got two rooms with one bed each. And twice I had to claim to give me my room as it should be.
Very nice hotel 5 minutes from the shopping center! Breakfast in the form of a nice self buffee.
Very nice place overall. Has a gym and pool. Rooms are spacious and clean, staff is friendly, a few nice restaurants and bars in the hotel, excellent location. Could use some updates, especially to the hallways and the balconies off the rooms have a lot of pigeon poop on them. Nothing major though. Beautiful stay.
The hotel is in a fantastic location and is casual and friendly. Parking is easy to access and well-priced for the downtown core. The room was small and outdated, and the walls are paper-thin so I could hear everything happening in the rooms around me, which was very annoying. However, the bed was super comfortable and the shower had perfect water pressure. It's a perfectly okay and comfortable stay, with no bells and whistles.
Stays of 2 days, we had a good time.
The service at the reception was polite and small care on our request. The bed was. Perfect! We slept very well! Large and equipped bathroom.
I recommend!
Discreetly stale. The rooms are not up to a 4 star. The staff was very good.
My room was small, but clean, and I very much appreciated the balcony. Furnishings were a bit scuffed and not the greatest looking, visually, but the bed was comfortable. I was impressed by how quiet the room was all night — I didn't hear anyone through the walls or in the hallways. The only complaint is that numerous elevators were out of service, and I had to wait more than 10 minutes for one to show up (alongside 11 other people). Having stayed here before, I've experienced the elevator issue before and should have planned around that.
The Hotel is requires. Toilets clogged, carpets worn, we do not walk barefoot.
Checked in on a Thursday for a single night stay. Hotel is in a building that shares space with many other businesses and the lobby can get quite busy. There are multiple elevators that are all colour coded so make sure you pay attention to where you need to go. It was easy to find a good parking spot in the underground garage. We were assigned an accessible room and while the added space in the bathroom was nice, it was a minor inconvenience to not have a fridge in the room considering we had some food that needed to be kept cold. We didn't ask for a room change so I'm not considering this an issue. Overall our stay was great and I would definitely recommend the Chelsea Hotel.
Very clean and quiet. The kids fun zone was excellent! Lots of pool toys for kids to enjoy in the family pool as well. Staff were attentive and courteous. Excellent coffee at the Marketplace buffet!
Great room very comfortable. Beautiful bathroom richly equipped. Rich continental breakfast.
Family friendly hotel. The kids will love the kids zone and the pool! You're in central Toronto so at night you might hear all kinds of noises coming from the streets… Also the air conditioning makes a hell of a noise so at night you might want to set it off (which means the room will get quite warm in the summer). We had a very comfy king sized bed though and a very good shower!
Great stay at the Chelsea! Location is fantastic, room was clean, and the staff was friendly. Jonathan at the front desk was super helpful and so pleasant. The pool and sauna were great. If I had a complaint it would be that the toilet in our room was super loud and it may be time for an upgrade. Would definitely stay again.
Great for both the view and the same hotel. Extensive activities including swimming pool, whirlpool etc, there is also an adult area where you will find a gym and a swimming pool. Very friendly Staff who put me at ease right away.
Only negative I have identified was that the pool for a few days a week stays closed and you can not avail.
For the rest I am satisfied.
Delightful Place! On the top floor you will find a swimming pool, a jacuzzi and a small terrace from which you can see Toronto!
The bathrooms leave a little to be desired in size! For the rest comfortable and comfortable beds! Recommended!
Very nice, clean room. Had the breakfast buffet, many options and it was very good. Parking was confusing, when I asked about it I didn't get much explanation on how it was going to be billed and what not. It wasn't until we took the car out that we realised there was actually someone attending at the exit. Otherwise, good and friendly service.
Disregard all the reviews here, this place is more than adequately clean. First thought entering the room was how nice it smelled. The bathroom was very clean, I had no issues with the shower or toilet or sink or anything. We did have an issue with the AC, apparently it was wired incorrectly and needed to be set to "heat" in order to cool the room. Odd but I'm not going to weep over it. My only real complaint was sound, you can clearly hear everything going on in the hallway and on the street. And this hotel seems to be popular with the party crowd, so fair warning. Parking was $29 CAD, which translates to roughly $22 USD, which while high, is worth it for the convenience. The garage is also 5'5 make sure your car can fit or you will have to pay $39 cad + tax for valet. I have a 4 door jeep wrangler, this car is roughly 6ft tall and fit in this garage with an inch or less to spare. There were pickup trucks parked in this lot along with standard sized SUV's. Staff was very friendly and helpful, as is most of the Canadian population. Highly recommend you leave the car and use the subway to get to your destinations as this hotel is located very close to College Station, which will get you just about anywhere in Toronto. The metro in toronto is uncrowded, clean, and easy to understand. Safe travels!
Check in was easy and fast. Got to room and it was very warm inside. Set the AC to the lowest it would go (16C) but it never seemed to get that cool. The room was extremely stuffy, it just seemed to be dusty and stale. Bathroom was also kind of dirty. The shower head was really old and had a lot of grime around it. Not bad but was expecting more as I've stayed here before and had no issues.
Great location, right in the middle of the city and not far from the lake. Nice city view. Free Wi-Fi and pool access. Customer service was very nice. Clean and spacious for a single queen room. Got a great deal as well. Nitpicks are hot water took a bit to heat up, walls are a bit thin. Had a great time.
While the room is fine and the pool is nice, we did have a little hiccough checking in. Guy asked if we wanted an upgrade which we said no and he still put it in. Took a few extra min to sort out. Woke up the second morning a shower running, it was so loud I thought it was in our room. Seems like a noisy hotel, but the location is great we were close to lots of great places to eat and shop.
Booked the hotel because it was the lowest price on Travelocity, close to amenities, and therefore convenient. Picture did not match the room description. Breakfast very expensive, not clear how much anything costs. Elevators to parking were dirty. Guest's hair dryer didn't work. Wifi quality was poor. Only gave two towels. Value wasn't there after the breakfast and high cost of parking. Cheaper to stay outside the city and park for the day.
We got a great rate on a room with a King sized bed, but throughout the evening we noticed our neighbours were getting louder and our room was starting to stink like weed. Around 11pm I called down to the front desk and they were fantastic! Not only did they move us but we got a complimentary upgrade for the hassle. We were friendly and they went above and beyond. Rooms were nice and clean and service was fantastic.
Great location and restaurant. Love the "fit everything you can on your plate" breakfast price. I'm used to hotels with complimentary breakfasts and larger rooms, however, so not fantastic.
This is a very clean and more upscale place. The rooms were nice and clean and from what I interacted with the staff they were quite nice. We had no problems with our reservation even though they were quite busy they got us right in with no problem. For me the price is a bit high but I only stayed one night so it wasn't a problem. More than one night however I would look for something a bit cheaper Overall great hotel though!
Good hotel. Came here for a night with my SO, when we had to stay late for work. It was a good clean hotel, reasonable amenities, however I did feel it was a bit pricey. Staff was super nice and friendly and I simply asked for an upgrade and they did what they could. A minor bump but it was still something. However it is a pricey hotel, more than you'd expect simply because it's downtown.
My stay at the Chelsea Hotel was very enjoyable. Staff members were friendly and accommodating, service was good. The hotel was conveniently located within steps of many amenities and attractions. Room was clean, and there was minimal street noise considering the balcony was overlooking Gerrard Street.
Room was decent. Elevators were very slow, but its understandable due to the high volume of competitiora staying there for the NACS culture show competition. I lost my key card but they were quick to replace it. Overall good experience.
We booked this hotel for a family getaway in Toronto. Initially it looked good, with a very nice lobby. There's clearly been some renovations but unfortunately they're cosmetic and contained to that area only. The rest of the hotel is very dated and things went downhill very quickly from that point on. Check in was slow, and the room we were given was old, smelled moldy and had buckled and bubbled wallpaper from water damage… not small spots in hard-to-see areas but 12-inch patches along the entire wall! There'd been no attempt at any repair and I was astonished they were trying to use it for guests. The second room we were given didn't have the moldy smell but hadn't been cleaned properly. There were (large) pieces of food on the carpet and within minutes my kids — who have mild dust allergies — were sneezing. We cancelled the rest of our reservation and will check out after the one night.
Not worth the $! The location & espresso bar (Carlos made great espresso & cappuccino) was the only highlight of our stay so gave it 2 stars. We booked 3 nights w. Parking & $25 credit package but can't wait to check out after first night!. At check-in, they asked us if we're interested in upgrading to a deluxe room so we did & end up on 8th floor (highest floor they said… NOT! Our friends got the 24th fl. The next day). Kid's pool area is rather small & a bit dirty. The room door to hallway is like an amplifier. We could hear everything from: our neighbor's the domestic fight @ 12 midnight then people saying goodbyes @ 2 & 4 am. Didn't get much sleep all night either from the noise or tight, uncomfortable bed (full size for 2 person)! Check-out & in took > 30 min/ea with only 3 counters open for such a big hotel and with inexperience staff. They didn't bother asking how was our stay and why checking out earlier than booked so we didn't bother complaining because we wanted to move to another hotel ASAP even though we were supposed to meet our friends there the next day! So glad we moved to Renaissance Inn for same $, double the space and better Wi-Fi reception! 1st & last time in this hotel!
I just shared a weekend with my 2 sisters, my niece, great niece and daughter at the Chelsea. The staff were so very helpful and accommodating. They helped with ticket purchases, booking transportation, even moving rooms when we wanted our rooms closer to each other. The amenities for someone who needs an accessible room are very good. The food was great and reasonably priced and the location is great. The staff are what makes the hotel one of the best hotels to stay at. I would definitely recommend the Chelsea Hotel.
Very good room, excellent suites and service in the heart of Toronto.
The location is great. Close to some of the best restaurants in Toronto. The rooms are spacious and clean. If you are lucky, you may even get a room with a nice view to the CN Tower. The service was fine, although some people in the front desk could be a little bit more well trained about how to use their computers. Other than that, everything was great. Highly recommended! :D.
We wanted a fun downtown shopping experience… we got the shopping part, but although this hotel lobby was beautiful and the front desk service was good… the rooms are in need of updates… there are no 'glass' glasses in the rooms… just tiny plastic cups — — for a downtown expensive hotel?. Hallways are a bit dingy with dark brown walls. Location is good, it's minutes from Yonge Street and the Eaton Centre… but for the price, I have stayed in nicer updated places for less money…
Pros: Price was reasonable Staff very friendly Great location Rooms very clean Cons: Shower could only get to warm Beds uncomfortable Wifi extremely slow A lot of partiers go to this hotel, so expect loud drunkeness outside your room after midnight to 4am Overall: choose this hotel if you want to save some money for a clean room with a great location, and don't put much weight on amenities. Otherwise I would recommend courtyard Marriott or the holiday inn on Carlton.
Just returned from a great weekend in Toronto and overall had a really good experience at the hotel. Wi-Fi in our room was never a problem! Room was clean and then staff were outstanding! The wait for the elevators was a touch lengthy at times but the staff quickly offered up the service elevators! Even though our room didn't smell of smoke, upon leaving the floor for checkout we did smell cigarette smoke coming from a couple different rooms. We want to go back to the city in the summer and would have no problem going back to the hotel!
Pleasant stay, but hallway smelled highly of smoke. Room was dated (brown shades everywhere), a bit noisy and not 100% clean. In room Wi-Fi signal is barely usable. Staff however was friendly, and kids play area was great and kept our 2 and 4 year old little ones entertained for a couple hours. Lobby nicely updated and restaurant very nice. Kids ate free (under 6 years old). Expected a bit more for the price.
Great location in the middle of downtown. Close to everything. Nice balcony. Comfy beds. Our room did not have a lot of space to socialize so that was a bit of a disappointment… No couch in the room, only one chair… So we laid in bed while we were drinking wine.
Great courteous staff. Good size rooms. Great hospital rates for my two say stay. 5 inure walk from Toronto General in Gerrard St.
If any of you guys are looking for dirt cheap hotel deals I would check out HotelRaven. Com I saved a ton of money using that site Clean, comfortable and friendly, fantastic location for entry into Younge St, with a good healthy walk to the Dock area, where luckily we jumped on the ferry to the beautiful Central Island, spent a fantastic 3 to 4 hours exploring same. Check out also, Eaton Shopping Centre, and Fynn's bar for food and drinks. Good hotel, great location, you will not be disappointed.

Perfect Location, one is directly in the city. House Keeping does a great Job, so that one always a clean and tidy room. Overall, very solid, and the reception leaves something to be desired.
This hotel is in a great central location which means it's very popular. There is also a lovely roof-top gym and pool but standards are slipping. The pool is dirty — there was a dark ring around the pool's edge — and downstairs the parking elevator was not working. Worst thing was the breakfast. It's unclear what drinks are included so you end up paying lots more than the set price, and by the time you're through the lengthy lines everything is cold. There are many better options in down town Toronto.
My family and I just had a great night and were off to bed, sound asleep untill suddenly the fire alarm goes off. Well that was an awaking and we were certainly glad it worked! The message played said they were evacuating the lower levels of the hotel. This went on for over a half hour, our children frightened. As we watch people gather outside from our balcony we are only left wondering what in fact is going on. We wait in our room for some explanation, eventually the alarm stops in our room but can still faintly here it going off in the hallway. From people running down the hall saying we have to evacuate, to early morning chats with other travellers, all we wanted to know was thst everything was ok. That never happened, no message saying that everything was clear. Eventually my family did fall back asleep and all the alarms stopped but we never did find out that everything was clear. That's my only concern. Other than that ruining our stay, it really is a great hotel.
Ok this morning I went there to pick up my friend ho recently just came from chiba. This old black man bell boy forcing her to take taxi. So he can get cookie $$ from taxi driver. When my friend I told him she don't need taxi since I'm here to pick her up. He didn't bother to help to move luggage. Just stand there looking at me saying here you free slavery. Wtf!. Beware of this stupid place.
This was my first experience staying at the Chelsea Hotel in Toronto. We traveled to the city for a 2 night stay with another couple who have visited this location a considerable number of times. Here’s a run-down of our stay: 1) Despite being assured we could have adjoining rooms by the reservation staff, this did not happen! In fact, we were told that side by side rooms were considered the same thing. — Strike 2) Only one room was ready at check in time; we were told we had to wait an hour for the 2nd room to be ready. An hour later, the 2nd room was still not ready. We asked to speak to a manager at this point. 3) Manager (female…can’t recall her name) – was not compassionate or understanding at all to our situation; she came across as arrogant and rude. She was quick to point out that they were busy cleaning the block of rooms for the airline staff that were checking in. Regular guests aren’t as important as airline staff? – Strike 4) Manager (Ryan) – was immediately apologetic and understanding. He tried to upgrade the 2nd room for us but when that didn’t pan out as the room was on a different floor, he comp’d our parking for the 2 nights we were there ($39.99/night). He found another room on the same floor that we accepted as our 2nd room. 5) Rooms were small but clean; comfy beds and adequate space for the little time we spent in them.
Over all not too bad, I have to say I did expect the room to be a lot nicer for the price. The name leads you expect luxurious accommodations. They are just average. The staff was way above average, everyone was extremely helpful.
Very nice good Hotel right in the centre is highly recommended. Everything was perfect here we go again.
Great Room on Yonge St near Eaton Centre, Wonderful room in great central location. Helpful, courteous staff. Immaculate, comfortable room. We got a GREAT rate online so I wasn't surprised when our room was a bit of a hike from the elevator and our view, while we could see the Trump Tower, didn't include the CN Tower. You can get a great view of the CN Tower by going up to the adults only pool, spa, gym and deck. Two minor negatives: 1) Parking is outrageous, guests save ONE DOLLAR off the rate charged the public. 2) The hallway (carpetting and decor) are not up to the same level as the rooms and the other common areas. Dinner tips: check out the little converted rowhouse restaurants on Elm St. Right across from the Hotel. Also, about two blocks southwest of the Hotel on Dundas around University, there is a little satellite "Chinatown" Entertainment tip: TOTIX is in the plaza on Yonge St right across from the Eaton Center = two blocks south of the Hotel. Pick up half-price tickets to Second City or discounted tix to Broadway-quality musicals.
Good service and nice spacious room (deluxe twin bed) but price is ver high. I didn't like the part where I had to keep security deposit. No coffee or tea mugs in room. Boiler with plastic cups doesn't make sense. Location is perfect, just few mins of walk from dundas square. Long cue at checkin counter is bit irritating. Overall, nice hotel for people willing to spend lil more.
Good hotel-rich beds to rest.
This hotel is okay, but for the price it is not a good value. The rooms are pretty mediocre, and while you're not allowed to smoke in the hotel (which was fine with me, I do not smoke), the floor I stayed on reeked of smoke — it seemed as though they hand't thoroughly cleaned it since people were allowed to smoke in it. The best thing about the hotel is the location, you're a walkable distance to just about everything. They're also ridiculously inflexible with early check in and made me pay $75 to do early check in. The room is just going to sit there, so why not do early check in for customers when it's available? I wouldn't say don't stay here, but I also wouldn't recommend it. I prefer the Sheraton, which is cheaper and nicer.
What a crappy hotel. Expensive and ugly.
Clean, tidy but tired decor. Queues for the lifts, very busy at breakfast. Wi-Fi spotty. Pool was great. Location seemed to be in the middle of slightly sleazy area mixed with upmarket shops.
My stay was good value for a downtown hotel. Came for business. The room was a bit cozy, but the bathroom was a showstopper. It was extremely tight, and the wallpaper was peeling. Also did not have a fan to ventilate well. The lobby, restaurant, and outside are impressive but belie some areas needing much improvement such as the dated hallways, squeaky elevators with damaged rails, and a lack of succinct external soundproofing. Food service value was disappointing despite the food being good. Had food allergy they were very sensitive about so kudos there. Check in experience was much better than my check out experience. Otherwise, bed was comfortable, room was pretty clean, and I might go again if they improve their spotty Wi-Fi.
Unbelievably bad service. This hotel is too big for its own good. The hotel check in, check out, reservation setup is completely inflexible and governed by bizarre arcane and arbitrary policies. Talking to the desk staff is worse than dealing with a bad banker or incompetent bureaucrat. Instead of figuring out how to help you they spend fifteen minutes clicking buttons and invariably conclude that your simple request isn't allowed. Or you need to go away and come back in a hour and then it will be allowed.
Large hotel catering to a variety of travellers. As it is a larger hotel there can be wait times for reception, lifts etc during peak periods. Deluxe 2 bed room average, we were on the darker side of hotel so room not very bright. King deluxe with kitchenette with lots of light very nice. Wifi ok can be hit and miss at times. Beware 'buffet' breakfast is not buffet, it is grab all you can eat at the one time ONLY from buffet section (eggs, bacon, potato, French toast, tea/coffee/juice). Location the best thing about the Eaton.
Maple leaf bounty of all kinds in a contemporary high-speed complex high-rise: hurrah canada! keep up the tempo! from james michael and vivianne chapeskie.
Rooms are dark and old. Towels were dirty. Wi-Fi did not work. Lines at the front desk were long. The only good thing about the hotel is the location.
My only criticism of this hotel is that there is no free Wi-Fi in the rooms! I see no excuse for this in todays day and age when other luxury hotels do it. The Marriott two blocks up has it as do hostels so why can't they? That being said there is Wi-Fi in the lobby if you can find a spot on one of the couches. Other than that little bed bug the Delta Chelsea is fantastic! It's a very, very busy hotel so if you're looking for somewhere quiet this is not the hotel for you. I found the hallways to be a little out dated but other than that I really enjoyed my stay. The rooms are spacious and have nice televisions within them and good bathrooms too. Location wise you couldn't ask for a better spot! You are two minutes walk from Dundas Square / Eaton Centre but also inbetween two subway stations so you can get anywhere you like.
We picked a loud hockey weekend, poor planning on our part, travelling with kids. Kids had a fun time but we slept like crap with all the noise. The pool was difficult to get to from our rooms conveniently. Had to cross the lobby in our suits to get on a different elevator system. Odd. Parking was separate. Breakfast was separate. Poor value.
Don't listen to bad reviews on this place. For downtown Toronto at such a low price this hotel is amazing. I've stayed here 5 times and will stay here in the future.
Large hotel, mostly nice, but I wouldn't recommend it: Very long lines at check in Very long lines as elevators WI-FI FREE BUT NEARLY USELESS. There is wired Internet in the rooms that acceptable, not very fast, but not usable for phones and tablets. We did not try the restaurants but the late night coffee and fast food in the lobby was handy.
The Bad: Not warned about 24 hour construction on the building next to the hotel. And judging by the site notices nearby its not going to get any better. No apology from staff after a lift malfunction injured my girlfriends knees. Single glazed windows so street noise is a problem. The Good: its a large hotel, with plenty of staff. Room service is quick and tasty. The hotel bar is nice (though service is really slow). The pool on the top floor is nice if very shallow. All in all, I go to hotels to sleep, and because of the construction and the thin windows I had very restless sleeps over the 4 days. Could not possibly recommend.
We were looking for a family getaway in Toronto. The Eaton Chelsea is dated. Bathrooms in particular need updating, including bathrooms for the pool. Very busy hotel. Strongly recommend eating off site. To avoid the absolutely abusive restaurant fees. Customer service was ok right up to the point when my daughter forgot a stuffed animal in our room; we called an hour after checkout and got zero assistance from any staff member. We won't be going back.
I had to change my room twice, I booked a single bed Queen. When I arrive the person checking me in wanted to give me a two beds room, which is not what I had booked. I had also asked for a quite room in the reservation and again at the desk. He gave me one next to the lift. So when I realized and went down and asked for a change. He gave me a second room next to the ice machine. I went down and complained and the manager gave me a nice room which was quite. At check out, I was in line and at my turn I had to check out with the person that checked in me in. He told me I know you had problems at the beginning but I wanted to give you a two bed room which was quite and you said no. So I do not understand, he put me next to the noicy room as a payback because I wanted the room I originally booked. I was late so I did not reply, but what on earth instead of apologizing.
The hotel was taken over by a new owner and was previously called "Delta Chelsea". Renovation works are announced or Already in progress. The hotel is very centrally located just around the corner of Yonge Street and offers a good value for money.
