Gift shop was great, dinning car was really a cool atmosphere, I had the fish tacos 2 tacos that were small at 15$ with no side so I added on beef noodle soup (a coffee cup size for an extra 3$) and a glass of wine, the soup didn’t have any flavour, tacos were good but very very small for the cost. In total it was over 30$ and just made the experience less enjoyable. My friends ordered the grilled cheese that was supposed to come with bacon that didn’t, we told the wait staff it was okay but they didn’t discount anything. Cool place but food wasn’t it.

Great food and music. Great option for a modified October fest.

Psis 32 dollars for 2 chowder. Not even 3 tablespoons in each dish, entertainment was great but left early to go and get something more to eat. As I watched the chef walk through the dining area past me with a very large can of brown beans in a bag. Glad I didnt order fishcakes and home baked brown beans. Needless to day, beautiful spot but would not re commend purchasing a meal.

We are in a caboose and it is wonderful. Much more room than we thought and so quaint. Quiet and we ate in the dining car. The food was fantastic and the service as well. Highly recommend this lovely piece of history.

It's been many years since our stay at the Train Station Inn, but it was a memorable experience for our family. Children love the thought of sleeping in a caboose!
During our recent visit to the area my husband and I enjoyed an evening meal in the dining car. Prompt service, quaint/friendly atmosphere, excellent food and beverage … did not disappoint. Will be back, and highly recommend the inn/dining car.

The atmosphere andd charm, plus the quiet location and the freindly people made for one of the most memorable occasions on our long planned and anticipated trip to Tatamagouche. Caboose no. 4 was delightful.

Such a cool place to stay and eat! The train car we stayed in was so cute and well laid out. We had supper in the dining car and the food was delicious! Definitely recommend checking this place out when you are in Tatamagouche!

Love the history behind these quaint and interesting dining cars! The service was wonderful; so friendly and attentive. The buddha bowl was so fresh and carefully prepared — the presentation was amazing (even the kid's meals were fresh and homemade). Highly recommend!

We had a fantastic overnight stay at the Train Station Inn. Stayed in Caboose which the kids loved. Lots of space, well appointed and air-conditioned. It actually exceeded my expectations. Dinner in the Dinning Car and breakfast in the station was very good. A truly unique experience and we enjoyed Tatamagouche and surrounding sites.

We had our wedding reception dinner on this past Saturday… The menu was Devine! The seafood pot pie is world class! They were able to make last minute changes to accommodate picky little ones taste buds and very friendly atmosphere and made the evening very enjoyable for the wedding party. Even though it was a very rainy day! Thank you to the management staff and our darling servers! You are the best!

A must see, unique experience! My wife and I arrived with our friends hungry. We greeted by a very pleasant staff who suggested the dinner special $12.00 salmon and fresh garden salad. We were not disappointed. After tea a walk in the old station gift shop. Very special spot! Thanks again.

Super beautiful discovery. We have bed in a container wagon with a bedroom, a bathroom and a living room/kitchen. It was a fun experience. At the restaurant, the food is correct and you hear the train as if it were leaving, the experience was complete.

This is the place to stay in Tatamagouche. The caboose experience was really cool and the food was perfect. Highly recommended!

Enjoying a Nova Scotia seafood chowder, brew or glass of wine on a vintage rail dining car is a Tatamagouche (Tata) highlight for us. Love it.

What a uniquely quintessential hidden gem along the north shore of Nova Scotia. The staff make you feel like family and want for nothing. Thanks for being such humble and gracious hosts.

This is my favorite place to eat during the summer. The effect of being on a train makes it even more elegant. I highly recommend the seafood chowder, it is the best I've ever had! 5 stars.

Another top attraction in tatamagouche. Well worth a visit. Have lunch in the dining cart and be sure to buy some of Shelleys jam from the gift shop.

Nice little rooms in an awesome community. Nice quaint little restaurant nearby has awesome breakfast.

Great little place. My son loves the small boxcar with the loft bed, and their larger cabooses are nice too. The staff are great, and we've recommended the place to others… especially families.

When you visit the Train Station Inn it feels like you have stepped back in time, such an inviting place. We stayed in Caboose it was very clean and had everything we required. The staff was very friendly, and provided a great breakfast at the cafe. The gift shop had lots of unique little items. This is one of my favorite places that I have visited in NS. Everyone should go there at least once for an overnight trip.

Such a neat place to stay, and very friendly staff. We were feeling a little guilty about dawdling in the dining car long after all other diners, but another couple came in looking for food as we left. Almost an hour after the kitchen had closed the staff was offering options they could still provide so the couple wouldn't go hungry.

What an amazing place! We had to remind ourselves not to take for granted that we were sleeping in a caboose! (Very nicely renovated and appointed btw). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the station house/gift shop has so many cool gifts and historical knick-knacks. Dinner portions were small for the price but sometimes that is to be expected and accepted when staying in a niche establishment in a small town (they prepare the food in the small dining car kitchen too). Food quality and service was very good though, and I enjoyed some of the best coffee and blueberry pancakes I've ever had in my life for breakfast the next morning. Hope to revisit someday!

Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Boxcar Jane was quaint and met all of our expectations. Such a fun way to spend a night. The staff was very friendly and outgoing, meeting all of our needs no matter the situation. I would most definitely recommend a stay to anyone I met. The one thing I would recommend against is eating in the dining car. The atmosphere was wonderful, the staff was, as I said, incredibly friendly and accommodating but I was quite disappointed in the meal. My wife ordered the pasta bowl without meat and although tasty seemed like a very small portion for $16. I ordered the "special" and couldn't believe when she set it in front of me. A small pile of steamed julienned carrots, turnip and peppers that the waitress informed us we're grown on their property, a small pile of sliced potatoes, the equivalent of a potato the size of a golf ball, and five 1/4" thick slices of pork tenderloin no bigger than a twoonie each. This was served with three small shrimp which is why I figure they felt that they could charge $28! We both left dinner feeling like we had been taken for a ride yet the car hadn't moved. With so many wonderful restaurants and cafes a couple blocks away I would highly recommend enjoying the stay in the rail cars, spending some time in the day car reading, playing board games or just enjoying conversation with whoever you bring or meet, and shop in their eclectic and entertaining gift shop but do yourself a favour and eat elsewhere in the town.

It's a very unique hotel and an amazing idea. You can see a lot of love went into the train cars. The unit was very clean and well maintained. However the pullout couch was so bad we had to take the mattress on the floor and you still could feel every springs (kids didn't sleep at all so we switched and as a result I didn't get any sleep and my back is quite sore today. It's time for a replacement. The food was average but poeple were friendly. You can take very nice picture and the kids will have a blast.

The Train Station Inn is located in Tatamagouche NS a beautiful little town with neat little markets and museums. Great walking trail that was once the railway. The Train station Inn is right by this trail they converted Box cars and caboose into rooms. The one we were in was quanit and clean. Staff were polite and helpful. They also turned a dinning car into a restaurant the food was very good. The train station is a cafe and gift shop with a few rooms up stairs. Great places for kids. If you are a train lover you will fall in love. There is a thing called a road train that goes by donation threw the town we enjoyed this. There are beaches, museums, farms to go visit just outside of the town very lovely drive too. My family of three will do this again soon. I think it's a must do at least once I. Your life. Go and enjoy.

The Inn is lovely. Stayed the night in Box Car Jimmie. Perfect sixe for 1 or 2 adults and 1 to 2 children. My son loved the loft style sleeping area. Staff was super friendly and attentive. The restaurant had a wonderful atmosphere although was not super in love with the meal… needs a little work. Had the steak flat bread and it was smothered in cheese. Sometimes less is more. Otherwise would definitely recommend the Inn and the Tatamagouche area. We will definitely be returning!

Quaint spot. The rooms are train cars. I wasn't a guest but I would love to spend the night there. The restaurant is great as well.

A delightful spot in a beautiful location. The venue is unique and historic and the food is wonderful. Highly recommended.

We can't say enough good things about the dining car. Made reservations and were seated promptly on arrival. The atmosphere was enticing, but a bit cramped. I expect that's par for the course when you're dining in a train car. The food arrived in a timely manner, was to die for and was reasonably priced. My girlfriend has several dietary restrictions and sometimes when dining out we feel like we're inconveniencing the servers by asking them to check ingredients (let's be honest. We are, but we can't help that). Our server Nicole was more than happy to make sure there were great things for her to eat. Even when dessert time rolled around, she modified a recipe instead of sending us away with nothing. She was super friendly and helpful. I'd give 10 stars if I could! We can't wait to come back.

Looks pretty but overly expensive. Great idea though so certainly worth a visit. Too touristy for me but if you like that then you should visit. I should probably add that Google gave me store credit for this review but they didn't specify that it had to be a good one ☺

Very unique train restaurant. The original train containing the Canadian Governor General's box car dating back to the 1920's.

We loved dining at the Train Station Inn. The food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly. Looking forward to booking an overnight stay in the future.

Previously stayed and enjoyed immensely, recently stopped in with friends to show them around. However long you're visiting, always fun!

We've had two meals at the Train Station Inn during the past week lunch and dinner. Both meals were exceptional and at a very reasonable price. The service both times was friendly, attentive and helpful. We arrived for dinner without a reservation, last minute decision and unfortunately there were no empty tables, we were advised that a couple of table would be freeing up within 15 minutes and were directed to the parlour car where we relaxed. Sure enough within 15 minutes the hostess came and got us for our table. I'm sure people have experienced a disappointing meal or service, however I strongly recommend coming for a meal… in the summer if you're lucky enough for a slice of raspberry pie… make sure you order it.

What a terrible terrible visit. My husband and I decided to treat our International Guest to what we thought would be a lovely Nova Scotia experience… I called at 1:00 to see what time dinner started and I was told that the only reservation they had would be at 6:30pm so we decided to go to lunch instead, we arrived at 3:30pm and were told that they only had soup and chowder whilst preparing for lunch… soup and chowder its JULY and 28 degrees outside… after that disappointment we tried to book or supper. The "conductor" fellow offered us a 5pm reservation. Wait I thought they only had 6:30 left? anyhow we decided to book, 4 adults and 1 infant. The Conductor said that he would book us a booth and we could put the baby in a booster and tuck him in a chair. This sounded great so we waited, as we waited there was some sort of local movie being shot and the directed kept yelling "quiet". Mothers where leaving this tourist spot because their children where being told to stop talking. Not a great time to shoot a movie on a Saturday afternoon at a tourist spot. After waiting for our reservation time our rude waitress told us that there is no room for my son that we would have to sit him in between my husband and myself? at $ 20.00 for the entrée alone I was not going to eat with my son ripping the table apart. I was offered no option and given no sympathy. I decided to leave this tight, cramped, hot, metal box on rails.

What a great concept, saving an old train station along with train cars and a caboose and restoring them into a beautiful and playful place to stay! 4 stars for the atmosphere. The wait staff were comatose. The four of us seated ourselves and ordered drinks, two Caesars and a couple of local beers. The Caesars were sat on the table with a bottle of Tabasco and we suspect they forgot the Worcestershire sauce, so a bottle of it was also brought to the table. It’s a good thing the beer was good! As an appetizer, we ordered lobster stuffed mushroom caps, The mushroom caps were cold, the lobster topping was dry and warmish, and the dish was not very presentable. Well I gave it a try, and in the first bite my teeth crunched on a shell and the taste was similar to the presentation. Boring. For the main, two of us ordered the lobster pot pie, one person ordered lemon and dill salmon and the fourth ordered the special, haddock /w lobster on top. Every dish was over cooked and dried out; the salmon presented itself as a Captain Hi-liner frozen dish stuck in the microwave, the single baby carrot and 3 green beans served with it were the highlight.

Great food, great service and quirky setting. Very train mad toddler friendly.

Went for lunch, atmosphere was unique and wonderful. Food was very nice and not over priced. Spoke with the owner and asked if we could see the rooms, this was not a problem at all and we looked at 4 different rooms. We will return in the future and will most likly stay overnight.

A must visit! Rooms are great and well priced. Staff are friendly. Food is out of this world in the Dining Car, priced right also! We will return.
