Hotel: Lots of potential but overpriced for what it is. Decor is nice but cheap. Beds were hard. Rooms are pretty noisy in general, both from the bar and from room to room but earplugs were provided. Bar on the main floor was quite nice. Cool interior, good cocktails and friendly staff.

Went with 2 friends and when only 1 of us ordered alcohol the barmaid seemed put out to serve us water. I drive longhair trucks for a living and cannot afford to lose my license. Maybe she should consider that not everybody consumes. We still tipped her but she wasn't very pleasant. Might explain why the place was empty. Bad attitude to be serving the public. May I suggest a job at a call center.

Really lovely experience! Atmosphere was nice, it was crowded but didn't feel crowded. Well arranged space and drinks were delicious!

Took California club, was excellent. Service was also great and very nice ambiance! ❤ Boyfriend took fish and chips, were light and delicious!

A good place to good for a beer or to go listen to live music with no cover charge. There is usually always live music from Thursday to Saturday. Keep in mind that this is a pretty small bar so it can get pretty crowded if it's busy. You will need to go early if you want a table on a busy night.

Visited St. James Gate in Moncton yesterday evening for the dinner theatre production of ‘Nunsense’. I have to say The Gate should be ashamed of themselves for charging $85 for the event. While the production itself was entertaining, the food served was poor cafeteria standard at best. If we take, lets say $25 for the production ticket, $60 for luke-warm soup, a measly slice (and I do mean slice) of Shepards Pie with a small handful of salad, followed by two postage stamp slices of chocolate cake with a teaspoon of whipped cream and a third of a strawberry is embarrassing. Yes, the venue is nice and new and the servers polite and efficient but this by no means makes up for the exorbitant price charged for a cover that probably cost less that $10 to produce. St. James Gate — if you are hoping to make a success of your dinner theatre program you will need to respect the artists and the paying public and dial back the greed. Improve the quality of the food AND drop the price to the $40 to $45 range otherwise this is going to be a very short engagement. Don’t expect my return, or my word of mouth promotion until you do!

Great atmosphere and live music. Come early for a good seat. Pricey but you're paying for the ambiance.

Really liked this place. So much more than just pub food… They have a really interesting menu and have a nice selection of beers on tap. They also operate a boutique hotel which looks like a nice place to stay. Also have a surprisingly big event space, would be good for wedding receptions. Often also have live music.

We went for taco week and had a little bite of a waiting time (super busy)! Our waitress, Cara, gave us an amazing service! Providing us cold drinks while waiting! Thanks SJG Moncton! Amazing service!

I love St James, but sometimes depending on what you order it could be the kind of place that you have to go for a Burger after you eat there.

Event room is beautiful, however the woman in charge has a very unpleasant attitude, staff is untrained, all around seems like they don't know what they are doing. It's a shame to have such a nice place but I will not be booking my next event here.

The food was exquisite! All fresh, handmade, local food. Service was amazing. One of my new favorite places!

My friends and I went there a few days ago, they were busy and all the tables were full. We had never been there so we didn't know if we were supposed to seat ourselves or to wait for a waitress to come and greet us. We stood around the doorway area looking like idiots for like 5 to 10 minutes. Several waitresses passed by and completely ignored us even though we were clearly in the way since there is no real waiting area. Finally we got tired of being ignored and I asked a passing waitress if we were supposed to seat ourselves or what was going on. She was cold and just said that we had to seat ourselves and then she left. She never offered help, or to tell us how long the wait time would be, or to offer to make a reservation for later. We left feeling ignored and embarrassed. I won't go back, the whole place felt really snobbish and like they didn't care at all about our business.

Fantastic service and literally, the finest Carbonara I've ever tasted. Spent the evening in the new events space off the main bar, SJG Avenue. What a great addition! Cozy, not too loud, but could still hear the band. I would definitely book it for 20-30 person event. Trendy cocktail menu.

Country bumpkin pub. Dark lighting, nowhere to dance. Just an avg pub to be honest.

Great for a quick drink or meal, live music at nights which can make conversation difficult if you were looking for a quiet place. Always great service.

Nice atmosphere and music not too loud. Food affordable! Good selection of draft beers.

Had a Tuna with fries from the menu… The combination was nor the best. It tasted almost like nothing. I could find the taste of what I was eating. This place is for beer ONLY. Nice live music though.

Great food and great staff.

I had smoked salmon with a dill sauce and a potato pancake, boxty, Irish style garnished with red onion vinaigrette and capers. Excellent. The portions were just right as was the price. Waitress was nice too.

We enjoyed the live music last night with drinks. The music was easy listening — acoustic guitar and atmosphere was great.

I had a pleasant time; Eating lunch in a relaxing outdoor area and enjoyed having very delicious meals with my family. The staff were fast and friendly.

Truffle fries and cheese board were excellent! Very friendly staff. Outdoor seating is nice.

We just had a wonderful stay here! The rooms are modern and comfortable. We had a huge Soaker tub in the main room, wooden floors and a glass shower between the bathroom and the main room. The front desk staff were also great, especially Michael, who went out of his way to make sure that we had everything that we needed! They do not hide the fact that they are located above a pub, and they will tell you in advance that it can be loud. Our room was directly above the pub, and yes we could hear the music. But we also went downstairs to enjoy the food and the music. The food was absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend eating there. They also do provide ear plugs and apparently the rooms on the next floor up are much quieter. We will definitely stay at this place again and would recommend it to friends.

Was a wonderful experience from beginning to end! Went on a late Monday night supper date, servers were friendly from the moment we walked in. Really enjoyed the pub style atmosphere and was impressed with everything when it comes to food, from the butter on the buns (it's honey apparently), the large selection liquids for adults, to the waffle fries, and finally the wonderful coffee crisp mouse! They apparently have live music most nights also :) Server was great (Britney) very sweet and friendly.

Very nice little bar with good atmosphere. The live music on Saturday nights us usually quite good.
